Peter: And you think we're the ones? Mr. Beaver: Well you'd better be... Peter: I think you've made a mistake. We're not heroes! Susan: We're from Finchley! ~The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe (Movie), C.S. Lewis Stupid quest. Ryan didn't even really know what to do! The only information he knew was that he had to fulfill the quest and bring along two people. That was the extent of his quest knowledge; he never bothered to listen when someone was talking about quests because he never thought he'd go on one. Who would of thought that the antisocial, mental son of Ares would be chosen to go on something like this? Then again, it was the stupid Oracle Girl who gave it to him. Sure, give him a quest, get him out of Camp and hopefully never see him again. As of now, that was what he was thinking was the Camp's goal. Get rid of the son of Ares, not that he cared, but the others. Not that he cared about the others it was just... He shivered slightly, he had chosen Aria. What if they knew that he would chose her? Then they had Oracle Girl give him this quest specifically to get him and her out of Camp and killed? They were probably two of the most unliked Campers in this Hades after all. Dang, what if he got her killed? What if he got the Hermes girl killed? Avery, unlike himself, had family who cared about her and had friends. Right now, all he could think of now was the death, starting the war and the ocean part of the quest. The bits about Olympus, and the part about fire and rain colliding didn't matter to him right now.
He didn't think he'd be starting a war right in Camp. If it was him, anyway. It could easily mean DJ or another son of Ares that he had no idea he was related to. Like one of the gods that was a kid of Ares'. Danger and death? That was part of Camp right now, especially after Blake. Ryan started to feel lightheaded; that situation had forced to much of reminder to him. Almost the entire reason he didn't have or desire friends or family. The event with Blake had made him realize that Camp wasn't safe anymore. It made him question if it ever was. If something evil could penetrate Camp and manage to kill a Camper, then Camp Half Blood wasn't the safest place for demigods. Maybe no where was safe for them. Maybe they were just meant to be freaks. Made to be raised by one parent, shunned by the rest of the world and hoping to live long enough to live another year. Search the ocean? Ryan wasn't dumb enough not to realize that there was an ocean right here. Right in the borders of Camp. Fireworks Beach and the Long Island Sound. In his mind, there was no point in traveling to another ocean when they had one right in front of them. Whether his judgement was rebuked or not by the others was a different matter.
Ryan didn't have much to pack. He only had one bag, not even. One fourth of the bag was clothes. The other three fourths was food (mostly fruits and crackers) that he had snatched from the Dining Pavilion. All the rest, he already had on him; all the rest, the only other things he owned, were weapons. Ryan always had them on him; either on his back, his belt or somewhere in his clothing. Before he had left his Cabin, he had done a weapon's check to make sure he had everything he needed. Gods this was nerve wracking. He didn't have a clue what to do or how to fulfill this thing and yet he was going... somewhere. Just out on the ocean, blindly. He didn't have any money of any sort on him. Not mortal dollars and coins and not demigod drachmas. The fifteen year old walked down to the beach and waited for the other two. Of all his three years at Camp, he'd never really been here, on the beach, on account of all the sing alongs around the Campfire. And by all the sing alongs, Ryan meant every single stinking night. He had only attended them for one week before he realized that they were a complete waste of time and Camp couldn't sing for their life. During the week he had attended, he had kept his mouth shut. Mostly because he wasn't sure of any of the songs they were singing and all. It sounded more like someone dying of a horrible death then people singing. Then again, watching that fire had been rather interesting. It changed color. Ryan had never seen any fire except its usual color and green in the Dining Pavilion, but the Campfire that they sung around would change colors throughout the night. Now that he really thought about it, it had been right here. Right here on the beach that he had met Aria... and had gotten into a fight with her. Ryan exhaled and shook his head. Gods sometimes that seemed like only yesterday, then other times, it felt like a lifetime ago.
All the son of Ares could do now was wait for Avery and Aria. Waiting was never and would never be his thing. Mostly because of his ADHD which all demigods had. His was really bad. He had ADHD, shoots of adeline rather often and then he had become paranoid and always on guard at his aunt's house for twelve years. Lovely combination; the demigod rolled his eyes. No one could really make him stay down for long. Even if it was just to sit. If he was sick or injured and being kept down because of it, he'd get really jittery from just sitting around and healing with nothing else to do. He usually needed to be moving. If he wasn't, he had to keep his mind focused on something else (which was also kind of hard) to keep him from going edgy. Ryan took out the pocket knife Nike had given him. He had started to store it in his small pouch on his belt where he also kept his sharpening stone and spear heads. The knife still had Sharpie marks on it and it always would, he rolled his eyes. The demigod was still very confused on why she had given him this weapon. He looked at the sky. Hopefully, they'd come soon. Then they would go. Then all of Hades would break loose and they'd all be in for it, unfortunately. OOC: Haha! Here we go! I'm sorry it took so long to get this thread up. Gods, my quest is going so slow. Sorry!! Goodbyes were a lot more difficult than Avery had ever imagined. Looking at all the faces in the kids in her cabin and not knowing if she would ever see them again was one of the most painful things she'd ever done. She was a softie at heart, for the majority, and she hated seeing all the frightened looks and anxious glances that had followed her out the door when she'd left for the last time. But if there was one thing Avery knew she was, it was strong. So she'd given every single one of those campers a hug, a grin, and a reassurance that she would be back as soon as she could. Some of the younger girls were even crying at seeing Avery go, and it had taken every ounce of Avery's strength not to join them and cry about her leaving.
It was strange, really. Not once had Avery ever been outside Camp Half-blood for more than a few hours, not counting things like battles. The only times she'd been out of the camp for the past eight years were the monthly trips the girls sometimes took to go shopping. And everyone knew that Avery wasn't a huge fan of those, considering as she had never been the type to oggle a cute pair of boots or a sexy t-shirt. To think that she was actually going to be heading out today was practically unthinkable. And not just for a few hours. While Avery hated the uncertain parting she'd given her fellow campers, the idea that she was finally leaving camp for a while was actually fairly thrilling.
So her eyes were bright as she approached Fireworks Beach, the place that Ryan had declared they would all meet. Her cheerful expression masked the slight worry and fear as she kept her strides lengthy and quick. There was no stopping the pit of excitement that was quickly developing in her stomach. Avery's gait was a mix between a bounce and a powerwalk, to the point where it almost looked like she was skipping. Her blond hair flowed out behind her like a banner in the wind - she hardly ever wore it up, and she wasn't entirely sure she would need to on an adventure like this.
Avery went over a quick inventory check in her head. Over the past few years, she'd slowly been draining her savings bonds account at the bank and therefore had a wad of cash sitting in her backpack. She had various weapons, but the one she lacked was a bow and arrow considering as she couldn't shoot one of those things to save her life. There were daggers of all lengths and widths in her bag as well. She'd also packed a few extra sets of clothes as well as a bag of ambrosia and nectar in case anybody got hurt. Being a daughter of Hermes had made it an easy feat to sneak into the Infirmary and snatch some last night. And lastly, she had her two favorite weapons tucked up in her hair. Her hairpin throwing daggers. Yup, everything seemed to be in working order for this quest she was about to embark on.
"Hey, little buddy! Long time no see!" Avery exclaimed as soon as Ryan was in sight. She actually had no clue who else was going on this quest, and she wasn't sure if she was nervous or just more excited by that fact. If Ryan picked the wrong people, or person, it could mean doom for everybody. So Avery set her pack on the ground and put her hands on her hips, grinning down at the younger son of Ares. "So, you ready for this, bud?"

Aria was a strong believer in packing light. On the streets, you couldn’t really carry around a suitcase, after all. And besides, not like she really had much to her name that could require a whole suitcase. So she had a small backpack, carrying merely a change of clothes, a bag of ambrosia she’d snagged from one of her siblings’ bunks, and extra bullets. Her two knives, one celestial bronze, one mortal steel, and her hand gun, were in their respective places at her sides. And that was all she needed. She didn’t really bother with any goodbyes; she had no one she felt the need to say goodbye to. She lived in a cabin full of idiots, in a camp full of idiots. Ryan was the only respectable one she’d found here so far. She hefted her bag higher on her shoulder and made her way to the beach. It was kind of ironic, coming here to meet Ryan, since this was where she’d first met him, rather violently at that. And now she was meeting him here to work together on some stupid quest thing. The Fates had weird senses of humor. She paused mentally when Ryan came into view though. Who was the other weird bubbly creep? Looked like she was talking, though she couldn’t hear the words being spoken. Aria might have seen her around camp, but that didn’t mean she had ever cared enough to remember her, much less catch her name. She was ‘Random Annoying Demigod’, just like everyone else. Maybe she’d just call her ‘Annoying’ for short. Had a nice ring to it. Aria raised an eyebrow at Annoying. She looked older, not that it mattered. And she looked like an annoying, lame idiot. But then, Aria thought that about just about everyone in general. She turned her attention to Ryan instead. “We waiting on anyone else?” Short, direct, and to the point. That was the simplest way. No point beating around the bush when you could just beat the crap out of the bush itself. Second thought, why they heck would you beat a bush? Word Count: 366 Note: Wow, that looks short after you two! *fail*

Ryan hadn't had anyone to say goodbye to at all. All he did was walk straight out of the Cabin. Done. Out of his Cabin and into the soon to be Hades. No one would care if he came back or not. Not one person in Camp. Ryan didn't care, whatever. Half of him sort of wished he would die in this quest so he didn't have to go back to Camp. He hoped Aria and Avery made it out though. The demigod shut his eyes momentarily and then shifted his stance and put the bag on his across his shoulder. Ryan began to wish that he could of used a backpack rather than a bag since it would of been easier. However, all he had had was a bag. It was the only thing his aunt had dropped him off with and the only thing he had kept in his Cabin. He had everything he needed. Not much, but it was him. Weapons, clothes, food, done.
The demigod shut his eyes. He had never really been outside of Camp other than that outing with Nike. That was his first contact with the world outside and exposure to mortal things. He still couldn't believe that he was going out and doing this. He shouldn't be! Ryan really really really didn't want to be doing this right now. Just to get out of Camp? Yes. To go out of Camp and fulfill a quest with the potential of getting Aria or Avery killed? No. No way in Hades would he ever ask for something like that. This quest was his. If anyone else paid for it he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. Either of them, really. They had been the ones he had chosen, mostly because he respected them a tad and he felt that he wouldn't want to kill them every second of the day. But was that just it? Did he actually start to find himself caring for them? He really really hoped not. No. He wasn't getting any friends any time soon. He wasn't going to start to trust and open up. It just made everything worse.
His stomach twisted as Avery came into view. Maybe he should just forget this whole thing. No. He had said he was doing it. Now he was sticking with that. He wasn't going to back down. Avery and Aria? That was their choice. They had said they'd come. They agreed, but it was still Ryan's fault they were here. "Hi," he said half dully. "And I'm not your buddy," he snapped, his eyes firing up again. Even though he was feeling like he was, he was still making a point to be him. He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah," he growled. Ryan seriously wanted to say: "No, let's forget about this whole stupid thing," but he couldn't. She was older than him, and quite honestly, even though the quest had been given to him, he couldn't see himself leading it. Not unless everyone wanted to be doomed right now. He had no idea how old Aria was, so he was beginning to think he was either the baby of the group, or the middle man. "Yeah..." he grumbled. "As I'll ever be, anyway," he sighed. Honestly, he wasn't ready at all. "And I'm not your bud!" he snapped.
Aria came. Ryan's stomach twisted again. Gods. If Aria or Avery got hurt... Don't think about that, you guys'll be fine! He thought it odd. Here, maybe not even that long ago, they had met and tried to kill eachother. Here, now, they were going away on a quest together. He wondered if she'd be angry at him for picking Avery. If she was, that was her problem. Ryan didn't think just two of them on the quest would cut it. "No," he said back shortly. It was just going to be them three. By themselves, trying to compete this crazy, Hades of a quest. Ryan's stomach sank. Quest. It fully hit him. They were going on a life threatening, crazy, almost impossible quest. It had no direction at all! That, plus he had the looming prospect that he was going to start a war soon. Just another reason for Camp and the world to hate him. Ryan gave another glance at Avery and Aria. They were the only two he had now. Not that he had ever had anyone at Camp, but now it was just them three. "Let's go," he said in half a growl. They were by the ocean, and his quest had said that he'd search one. So why not use the Long Island Sound as a starting point? He hadn't managed to get a boat, but the thing he was most uneasy about was that he had no idea how to swim. OOC: ^^ Let the fun begin!! Aw, no its not a fail, AB! Forget the anxiety, Avery was completely pumped. It was obvious in the way her chocolate brown eyes shone in excitement as she anxiously hopped from foot to foot, restlessly shifting her weight on a constant basis. Her gaze never stayed in one place for too long. For one second she'd be looking at Ryan, the next at the sand of the beach, and the next at the trees nearby that started the forest. She just wanted to get started on this darned thing already. Everything in camp was behind her now. She was rearing to go, all that was missing was this other person that was meant to accompany them. Well, that and Avery had absolutely no idea where they were headed off to. Or what they were supposed to be doing.
But none of that mattered, not to the daughter of Hermes. All she knew was that she was going to be travelling, not stuck in one place. That idea in itself was enough to make that excited pit in her stomach grow even larger. Her grin grew as Ryan gave her the typical snippy answer. Quite honestly, she was getting used to his harsh attitude and his bitter responses to just about everything everyone said. She wondered if he was like this around all the other campers... wait, scratch that. She knew he was like this around all the other campers. Avery's only thoughts were what the other kids thought of him. Obviously not many of them liked him very much. That was probably why he didn't have any friends. Well, Avery was determined to change all that, so she didn't allow his bitterness to irritate her. Instead, she just smiled down at him and shrugged.
"You're my little buddy until I say you're not," Avery commented smugly, the grin remaining on her face as she adjusted her bag. She looked around for this other camper - the one who was supposed to be accompanying them and huffed. While she was typically a cool-headed person, that didn't mean she was particularly patient.
Thankfully, Avery was not required to wait that long. Another littler camper, this one looking even smaller than Ryan, appeared. Right off the back, the daughter of Hermes could tell this was probably a Ryan in the female body. Just the way she walked, stood, and glared at her was enough of a message on that front. The grin grew larger, if possible. While other campers might groan in regret at having accepted this quest, Avery was of course beginning to get more and more excited. Two spunky littler teens with her. What fun this was going to be, she could already tell. Looking between Ryan and the girl, she couldn't help but wonder how they met. But she'd leave the interrogating for some other time.
Avery turned her attention to the younger girl briefly. In the most friendly way possible, she said, "Now, I don't know your name, so I think I have just the nickname for you until I know otherwise. You're little midget. He's little buddy. So don't you guys be getting confused with each other, alright?" Avery nodded as though she were quite proud of herself for coming up with that. She brushed a wayward strand of blond hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear. She looked out over Long Island Sound, wondering where exactly they were headed.
Avery raised a hand as Ryan said, "Let's go." There was an expectant expression on her face, the grin gone. She was all seriousness, so to speak. "Okay, so I have an honest question before we get started. So... where are we going, exactly?" It was an honest, innocent question. But Avery knew very well it was probably going to get an angry or bitter response from Ryan and just let out a sigh in advance. At least she'd managed to get the question out.

Aria was more than happy to hear they didn’t have anyone else coming. The fewer, the happier, that was her opinion. Sure, she’d grown up in a gang, but it had always worked so cohesively that it never seemed like many people, even though there was generally a good dozen. “Good. Crowds are useless.” And then the other girl spoke up. Aria turned on her, her eyes narrowed to furious slits and did the only thing natural: aim a punch at her face. “Excuse me, bitch! My name is Aria, thank you very much! Call me midget again and you’ll wish you’d never been freaking born! You do not want to get on my bad side, understood, Preppy?”With that, she went back to ignoring Annoying Preppy. She didn’t really deserve any attention anyway. This quest was going to be more so much fun, she thought sarcastically. Gods, why her? She turned her attention back to Ryan, the only person she could actually stand here, and that was not saying much at all since they anything but fit the typical ‘friend’ description. “Let’s get out of here already. So what are we going to do, make a wood raft? ‘Cause I ain’t swimming.” Minus the fact that she couldn’t. But they didn’t need to know that. She looked up and down the shore, careful to never look at Annoying Preppy. “Would be nice if this reject camp had a boat or something.” Though to be honest she wouldn’t know how to work a boat either. She’s never had occasion to go anywhere near water until she came here, so why should she know stupid useless stuff like that. What good would knowledge of rigging and directing and swimming and junk like that do you in a street fight? None. And since her whole life before Camp Half-Blood had consisted of street fighting, that was all she really cared about. Word Count: 347 (sorry about the low muse!)

Ryan rolled his eyes, watching Avery shifting around; he averted his gaze and looked at the water. The son of Ares couldn't really comment on her restlessness since he had a hard time staying still too; it was mostly courtesy of this ADHD and adrenaline but he guessed being put on a quest also helped it along. Right now, he was way more anxious than excited about this. There were several things that were sort of impossible on this quest. The water; that was obstacle number one. First, there were a lot of oceans, what if they were searching the wrong one? He rolled his eyes. Of all the quests, he had to get involved with the wet stuff. He hated water and couldn't swim, that was not a good combination. Kath had never really seen the point in teaching Ryan; all she had been interested about was beating him up and teaching him how to fight. Besides, they didn't have a body of water or a pool anywhere close to them to begin with. In Kath's head, if the resource wasn't there, he didn't learn. That run in with Kaycee had been one of the closest times he had ever been by the water.
The demigod tensed, almost sensing Avery's excitement. He still had no idea how he was going to go about doing this. He had never really asked about quests (or anything for that matter) especially because he never thought he'd get one; for the same reason, he had tuned anyone out who was ever talking about quests and was near him. If anything, he would think they'd give him a quest just to watch him mess up or get killed or however a demigod was supposed to get shunned out of the Greek Wold. Stupid greek world, stupid Camp. Avery's voice brought him back to the beach and off of his own thoughts. He gritted his teeth and tried not to put his hand on his dagger. "Well, I say I'm not your little buddy!" he snarled at her. Even if he was still tensed up like this, that gave him no excuse to not be himself. If she was thinking to become his friend this way, she was far from target. Besides, he didn't want any friends; not now, not ever. This is just going so smoothly, he thought sarcastically, rolling his eyes. Gods, they haven't even started moving and they were going to be bickering with eachother! He nodded at Aria's comment; silently agreeing with her. Thank the gods only three people on a quest; Ryan would of just backed out as soon has he got the quest if he was told that a whole group was coming with him. Ryan was far from comfortable in Camp where there were too many people; heck, he was uncomfortable anywhere that had lots of people. Going into the pet store with Nike had been torture. Camp was way to over crowded for him and it was growing by the day; that was mostly why he would just stalk out into the forest. He hadn't gotten exposed to many people during his childhood. That, along with a combination of other things, may of been what made him so antisocial in the first place. That, and the maximum number of people had had around him in his childhood were two. When he came to camp at age twelve, it shocked him to see so many people in one place. He couldn't understand how they lived, all cramped in the Cabins and all around Camp. Avery started to talk to Aria. Now all Ryan had to see was how they reacted around eachother. He was having a feeling that it was just going to be like him and Avery, just a bit more amped up though. Little Buddy was beyond annoying, but he had gotten worse from other people. All he would do was be him and keep stubborn about it. He was having a feeling that she'd come up with a nickname for Aria that was just as annoying as his nickname. Just as she had come up with the nickname 'little buddy' for him, Little Midget came up for Aria. The daughter of Apollo was far from gracious about it. When Avery had started calling him Little Buddy, he didn't think it would ever turn into a nickname, just something to call him when she hadn't known his actual name; that was why he hadn't snapped like Aria had. Now Aria was probably going to hate him for bringing Avery along, but she'd have to live with it. Aria looked at him. Their status was far from friendship and their meetings with eachother anything but normal. Ryan was fine with that; keep it that way forever, he didn't care. He looked at Avery. "Follow the beach," he snapped, looking up and down to see where they could get started. Then to both of them: "We have to find a boat because Camp Hades is useless and doesn't have one," he snarled. "But if you want to go ahead and make a wood raft go right ahead," he growled at Aria. He looked at her as she brought up swimming, he was with her on that too, no way in Hades was he swimming anywhere. He rolled his eyes. "Well, it is Camp Hades, since when was it ever nice?" he growled and started down the beach. OOC: It's fine AB ^^ Character Name: Ryan Simons Mood: Annoyed, Anxious To: Avery Reynolds, Aria Hale IC Word Count: 932 Made by: Ellie Brigid at Olympian Prophecy

"Hey, you are my little buddy, whether you like it or not," Avery pointed out, smiling her cheerfully smug smile as she folded her arms across her chest. She wasn't necessarily a stubborn girl, but for some reason the name 'little buddy' siply stuck with Ryan and it was going to stay with him until the day she died. Not necessarily because she knew it was annoying to him (that was just a fun little side effect), but because it simply fit him in her opinion. He was heck of a lot littler than she was, and she seriously considered him a buddy. Even if he didn't consider her one in return.
But it was looking at the chick she'd dubbed little midget at the sound of a raised voice that had given Avery the warning. She barely had enough time to see the fist coming, let alone dodge it. With her automatic demi-god instincts kicking in, Avery instantly ducked in that agile way she was so capable of and managed to avoid the hit all together. She put her hands up to signify a surrender, but there was a joking grin on her face as she came back up, dipping her head to the feisty little one named Aria to show that she understood. "Alright, alright, little fireball," she said patronizingly. "No calling you 'little midget'. Understood. Although, please don't take offense to this, I would have to question your bad side. But we can leave that discussion for another day, alright fireball?"
And so then Avery turned her attention back to Ryan, truly unbothered by the name 'Preppy' that Aria had bestowed upon her. After all, there weren't a lot of things that bothered the young daughter of Hermes and a nickname that wasn't all that true (in her eyes) certainly didn't. She didn't even bother to try and correct Aria, because she knew t hat hopefully sometime soon she would prove that the nickname really didn't fit at all. She'd earn her worth on this trip, this quest, she was sure of it. All that was left was for her to find what exactly she needed to do.
"So we're going up the beach to find a boat. To go somewhere. Cool." Avery was immediately thinking, remembering her various adventures that she'd made outside of camp, all for pranks of course. But quite a few memories involved such boats, and one of her pranks had even involved one. She could drive a boat, just not legally and she really didn't know how to work automatic controls. A sly grin spread across her face, and she snapped her fingers to get the two younger kids' attenton. "Hey, kiddos, I've got me an idea." The grin remained, even grew, as she turned her gaze up to the northen beaches.
"Outside of Camp Half-Blood, there's a good-sized boat we can use. I can drive it - drove it a while ago for confidential Hermes' cabin reasons. If we found it, which hopefully won't be too hard, we'll be able to drive this boat to wherever we're headed," she explained, feeling exceedingly proud of herself that she'd thought of this. "It's a really nice one too - stocked with food and a mini fridge and some pops... I mean, it'd be perfect. Not to mention there are railings - almost no chance someone could fall over." Of course there was no way that Avery could have known that either Aria or Ryan couldn't swim, but she just wanted to reassure them just in case.
"I mean, what do you think? It's your decision, Ryan. I say take the boat, but of course little fireball here might just refute everything I say so we'll just go with your judgment on this, 'kay little buddy?"

Aria tried not to roll her eyes. Follow the beach? So they were just going to go for a lovely little stroll along the beach and hope that maybe they came across a boat sometime before the sun went down. Brilliant. Well, this would be fun. And by ‘fun’ she meant extremely stupid. She glared at Ryan’s stupid comment about making a raft. “I am not making some idiotic raft. If you didn’t catch my drift, that was a little something called sarcasm. I would think you could pick up on it since it’s like, what, your native tongue?” Great. Starting out on a quest that would take them gods only knew how long and they would only have the three of them and she was already getting along with Ryan worse than usual and completely hating this other freakazoid.
Speaking of Freakazoid, curse her for having an actually decent sense to duck. Would have been nice to introduce herself with a nice solid blow. Oh well. There would be other chances, she was sure of that much. She hardly paid attention to what the girl was saying. Why bother? She was stupid and annoying. Though at least the nickname this time was a little more fitting. Just leave out the ‘little’ part; Aria hated being called little. Fireball she could go with though. She, again, held back the urge to roll her eyes when Freakazoid started stating the obvious, though she did mutter. “Yeah, that just now get through your thick skull?”
Then, out of the blue, Preppy said something helpful! Aria pointedly glanced around for other signs of the Apocalypse. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, it was a good idea. “Sounds good to me.” She looked to Ryan expectantly, waiting for his take on the matter. He was, after all, the Big Mr. Leader Man.

"I'm not your little buddy!" he snarled yet again and with finality. Sheesh, she'd never give up on this, would she? He was still being and would always be stubborn about this and that would probably be until the day he died. He wondered if he had a fever or anything, but he actually didn't feel like another all out verbal war with Avery. Gods, they hadn't even left Camp grounds yet! He gave the daughter of Hermes a glare, he'd get her later. The son of Ares scowled, seeing that while he was hating it, she was thoroughly enjoying it; it had to be the most annoying quality of her (along with a lot of others). As people might of or might of not picked up (he really didn't care either way), it didn't take much for Ryan to get ticked off. He honestly didn't know what made her come up with the nickname 'little buddy' though. The more and more he thought about it, the less and less it made sense. She just did to to annoy him, probably, like everything else. However, if any tiny morsel of her brain (if she even had one) thought for even a nano second that he was her buddy, she was dead wrong. So, so very wrong.
He rolled his eyes and just watched Aria and Avery's first encounter with eachother. Mostly physical on Aria's part as she aimed a punch at Avery, along with a few not nice words. Better they just learn to live with eachother now; Ryan's face scowled and he just decided to watch and not get involved. Well, at least Avery had the demigod reflex to duck and Aria hadn't tried it again. "Once you two are quite finished," he growled, glaring at them. Honestly, did Avery seriously have to just come up with another nickname because Midget hadn't worked? She changed Aria to fireball instead and Ryan just rolled his eyes. Slightly suiting if he had to really think about it. As she had done with him, Avery just looked amused, like anger was his mask, it looked like amusement was her's. Gods this was going to be a long quest; he was beginning to seriously consider this girl's mental well being. Aria bestowed Avery with the name of 'Preppy' which Ryan could agree with. Then again, she could be calling Avery things in her head that Ryan wasn't aware of. The nickname didn't look like it bothered Avery though, she seemed to actually liked it. Good for her, he internally rolled his eyes.
True, he had Aria had been slightly more agreeable before this, but whatever. He didn't want to be agreeable with anyone now. The fifteen year old looked at this elder who was asking about the boat. "Well, that is the plan unless you know of something else," Ryan said, shrugging and half trying to keep the iciness out of his voice. He ignored her rant on him and looked at Avery, as a snap came from her fingers. "Really? Didn't know you had the brains to have one," he said, a snarl rising in his voice. As he listened to her, it didn't really sound that bad. Then he half rolled his eyes. That was the problem with him getting the quest, he really sort of hated making decisions like this... she was the older one, anyway. He wasn't the oldest, and wasn't entirely sure if he was the youngest, but he still didn't want to do this. He shrugged. "Fine," he growled. "Lead the way," he shrugged. If she knew where it was, that would only make sense. The son of Ares looked at Aria who had given her verdict and just nodded. If being given the quest meant that he was automatically leader, that just made him hate his quest even more. OOC: Lol XD At first I was thinking of having Ryan not know what a snap was just to lighten this up a little but I decided not to. Quite honestly, there wasn't a lot that could tick off Avery Reynolds. Or depress her, quite frankly. There were things that could worry her, or freak her out, scare her, startle her... but very rarely was she angry or sad. It was just one of the mnay qualities that made Avery... well, Avery. Some loved her for it, and others, well, probably like little fireball and her little buddy, really got irritated with her for it. But, alas, in her eyes, it only made her that much more durable on this trip. She could always act as a buffer between the two - they seemed agitated enough to go for each other's throats any second. Well, it never actually occured to her that it might be her throat that they might take a lunge at, but honestly Avery didn't think like that.
Quite honestly, Avery thought that the boat idea was actually a pretty smart one. After all, who else would have known about the special boat down the beach? Without it, who knew that kind of trouble her little buddy and the little fireball could have gotten into? It seemed like neither of them liked water, which didn't bother Avery at all. She'd taken plenty of swims in public pools and the lake here at camp - she was a fairly good swimmer so for her, there was nothing to fear from the water.
"Well, I know it may come as a surprise that I have brains at all, considering I agreed to go on this quest with you and little fireball over here," Avery commented rather casually, as though this was a known fact to everyone around the world. She flicked some of her sunny blond hair away from her face and looked up the beach where her supposed boat was meant to be. Well, it was either going to be a really lucky or a really bad day for Avery. Because (and she didn't want to tell Ryan or Fireball this) there was honestly no way of knowing whether or not the boat would even be there. After all, the owners might have moved it after her last escapade with the blasted thing.
It was now or never. Avery took a few steps, and looked over her shoulder at Ryan and Aria. She grinned cheerfully, as though her plan was completely fool-proof. "Come on, you two kiddies, let's go before the boogie man comes to eat you," she called to them. "The boat's just a little ways walk from here - we have to leave camp borders before we find it. Try and keep up, because my legs are a lot longer than yours." Granted, Avery was just saying this because she absolutely loved teasing other people - it was in her nature. The twinkle in her chocolate brown eyes was enough to tell anyone that she really didn't mean to insult anyone.

Aria pretty much wanted to be anywhere on Earth right now but here. She’d even take her poor excuse for a mother’s house. Okay, maybe not that far. But this was ridiculous. She glared at Ryan when he smart-mouthed, at least in her view, the two of them. She should have expected it from him, but being already mad about Annoying coming along, she was in no mood to put up with his comments. Why was she even coming on this quest? It had seemed like a good idea at the time. She didn’t know that Preppy-Smiley-Bouncy-Annoying would be joining them though. This, surely, was some cruel and unusual punishment for something. Had to be illegal. But then again, this whole Camp was a massive torture operation. She didn’t bother to look at Annoying as she set off. Though it took a good deal of stamina not to throw something at her when she called them ‘kiddies’. This was going to be the longest trip in the world. And over water too, what a joy. Just shoot her now, get it over with. The corner of her eye twitched at the short comment, but she managed to not bite the other girl’s head off. There was nothing she hated more than people commenting on her short stature. People did it all the time. People got hit all the time too. And she had a feeling, no matter how good the Cowardly Prep was at ducking and acting like an idiot, she was going to join that list of people very soon. Without waiting for Mr Big Tough Leader Man, Aria set off after Annoying. The sooner they got this ridiculous circus freak show on the road, the sooner it would be over. In the mean time, she would just have to bite her tongue and try not to kill Annoying… Word Count: 319 Note: I am so sorry that took so long!!!!

It seemed like nothing could dampen Bubbly's sprits. Ryan rolled his eyes. Stupid, idiotic him picked the person that was complete opposite of him and Vivid. Not that he'd ever call her that out loud. Perhaps he could if she got on his nerves enough. Honestly, he couldn't and wouldn't ever be able to figure out why he had chosen Happy Hermes. At first she seemed like one that he wouldn't mind having around and wouldn't want to kill ever dang second of the day, but that could change. It was starting to and rather fast.
Ryan shifted, not looking forward to the boat trip, at all. Why on earth, of all the dang freaking quests did he have to get the one that involved water, danger, and death? Dang, that was not a good package deal to have. Especially when he didn't know anything about swimming. The closest he had been to the lake was with Reena, Kaycee, and the body of Blake that he had found. His stomach twisted and he gave an involuntary shiver at the memory before forcing himself to think of the matter on hand. Quest. Right.
True, he had to give Avery some credit for coming up with the idea, because Ryan wouldn't of known how to get a cross the water. Yeah, boat, duh, but he didn't know where one was. His stomach twisted. He'd never been on a boat, had been in a car only twice, never on a plane, bus or anything else. Most of his life, he relied only on his legs and own two feet. It wasn't going to help him much this time. He hissed in frustration. Typical, things usually not working out for him. "Total surprise," Ryan snarled sarcastically, glaring at her. He gritted his teeth and bit back his addition of: Your the one who agreed and you know you didn't need to come.
The son of Ares rolled his eyes and let out a slight growl at her comments to them. He gritted his teeth and just tried to ignore her. Although, it was rather hard when she called them kitties. Fine, she may be older, but Ryan was in no way putting up with nicknames. He couldn't help a slight flicker of confusion when she mentioned the boogie monster though. What the heck was that? Another type of Greek Monster like the harpies, hell hounds, or furies? He just nodded. So what if it was out of Camp borders? He rolled his eyes to her last statement. Just because her legs were longer, Ryan was sure that he wouldn't have any problem keeping up. He hated when people did that to him, underestimate him when he was younger. Sure, he may be younger, but that didn't mean he couldn't fight back. Age was nothing to him, it was just experience. Aria didn't give him a second glance as she went to follow Bubbly, and Ryan just rolled his grey eyes again as he followed suit.OOC: Aw, come on, its fine AB! ^^ Character Name: Ryan Simons or RyRy/Little Buddy if you want to annoy him Word From the Character: -_- I swear, don't call me that! Maybe going on this quest wasn't such a smart idea after all. She had a very high tolerance level, but Avery would have to be exceedingly stupid to think that these two weren't going to wear her down rather quickly. And once that happened, either Aria was going to kill her or Ryan was going to do it for her. Either way, Avery would probably find herself dead. But, Ryan had needed her. He'd come to her himself to ask her on a quest, and Avery was never one to turn down someone in need, even if it was someone who constantly claimed that they weren't her friend.
She adjusted the backpack strap on her shoulder and continued walking, desperately trying to ignore all the smart comments from Aria and Ryan. Maybe if she ignored the little comments, they wouldn't wear her down so much. However, because she was a daughter of Hermes, she was just pretty much okay with people not liking her. You couldn't please everyone, now could you? It just so happened that on this quest, she landed herself in a situation with two younger teens who fit in the category of 'never going to be pleased with anything, period'. Once she got back to camp, she would be once again surrounded by people that a) actually cared about whether she lived or died and b) didn't call her little smart-assed names and didn't insult her every five seconds.
But still, Avery tolerated it. Camp generally began falling behind them as Avery led the two younger adventurers towards the place where she'd last left the boat. It was on a dock not to far from camp borders she remembered, so the walking wouldn't take terribly long if they kept this pace up. And if the silence continued, it was all the better. But all of these comments wouldn't get her down. After all, she was going on a quest. An adventure. The stuff of legends. Of myths. This was what the great heroes did in the time of the ancient Greeks. This was a chance to give the Hermes cabin just a little bit of glory. And Avery was very proud of it, even if she wasn't the one who was given the quest in the first place.
Finally, after about fifteen minutes of fast-paced walking, the boat came into sight. Avery grinned in relief and in recognition, seeing as it was exactly the way she remembered it. Relatively new, no bumps or dents, and a fine and worthy seacraft. She was no expert sailor, but being a jack-of-all-trades had its advantages. She could steer a boat, and if the coordinates from the last time she'd used it were still in it, she was sure they could get to wherever Ryan wanted to head. So she turned to face her two newfound companions and gave them a cheerful smile.
"See? A beautiful little boat, just like I said. Tell me where we're headed and I can get this thing started up. Then we can chill and let the boat take us where we need to go," Avery told them brightly, shoving her hands into her pockets.

Aria fought back, though not with very much effort, a snicker at Ryan’s sarcastic remark. And he was snapping at her for not getting along with Annoying? Honestly. She wasn’t sure whether to team up with him, or hate his guts. Then again, that was just business as usual, right? At least things were pretty clear with Annoying, and it was the latter of the previous two choices. She pulled the small bag hanging lop-sided off her shoulder a little higher before setting off after Little Miss Annoying Cheery Crap and was more than happy to keep the silence while they went on their stupid little nature walk. Sure, some people might actually take the time to enjoy the glistening waters, or the clear sky, or the sound of the waves - and occasional distant monster noises, but that was normal around here - but Aria wasn’t exactly ‘some people’. She was more like ‘demonic little curse on mankind’ as her mom had put it once or twice or twenty times before. And then they got there. She wasn’t sure what she was expecting; she hadn’t exactly been around boats before. Sure there were the couple of triremes that the camp had, but she steered clear of those, and those were more like ginormous kick-ass ships of doom. Which was kind of cool, as boats went. This wasn’t a trireme. It was… well, she wasn’t going to pretend to know anything about different kinds of boats, but it wasn’t big and cool. It forcibly reminded her that there was not going to be nearly enough between her and gods-only-knew how deep of unpleasant water. Fun stuff! Yeah, how about no. She knew one thing about this boat: she did not want to get on it. Besides the fact that it did not look nearly as stable as the ridiculously huge boats at camp (why couldn’t they just take one of those?), it was, all in all, a boat. This was a stupid quest. She glared at Annoying like it was her fault they were going over water then turned to Ryan. “Well, oh great leader, where to?” If he was going to be a pain in the butt to her, she sure wasn’t going to pay him any favors by making life easy on him either.
