today i'm gonna try a little harder, gonna make every minute last longer gonna learn to forgive and forget 'cause we don't have long gotta make the most of it
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So this was it - the day Harper and her two companions, Gavin Sawyer and Sophie Greene, set out on a quest to seek the armor of the gods and some kind of aegis in Niagara Falls. She was completely set - as set as she could be. Harper had made a trip to the bank the other day on a little camp trip. She'd withdrawn a considerable amount of money from the bank account her mother had set up for her about ten years ago, back when they'd still thought Harper could have gone to college. There was a great sum in the account, so Harper definitely wasn't worried about money. She had decided that because she'd asked Gavin and Sophie to come on this quest, and they had graciously agreed, she wouldn't let them pay for anything.
A form of transportation was already in Harper's mind - all they had to do was take the bus. And since it would probably be a very long bus ride at that, Harper had (of course) stowed away her iPod somewhere within the satchel she was carrying. In it were a few essential items. Two changes of clothes (folded neatly so they didn't take up the entire bag), a dagger she'd received on first coming to camp, and a full plastic baggy of ambrosia and a two thermoses of nectar. Harper was much more of a healer than a fighter. However she was also carrying a backpack that contained her bow and quiver, as well as other necessaru epuipment as Harper saw fit. She'd spent all of last night packing, seeing as she hadn't been able to get any sleep.
So here Harper was, sitting on the edge of camp waiting in the exact spot she'd told Gavin and Sophie to meet her after breakfast. Harper, of course, hadn't gone. She hadn't been hungry (which was why she'd also stored a few granola bars in her back pack as well). She looked like a girl ready to go on a really long hike, but everything about the way she was sitting and the way she kept running her hands through her hair was enough to convey the exact opposite. In reality, Harper had no idea what awaited her, her boyfriend, and her favorite sister on this quest. She didn't even know if all three of them would come back alive. And if that were true, she'd do her best to make sure that it was Gavin and Sophie.
The only problem was she was pretty sure that the other two might be thinking the same thing. Harper took a deep breath and let it out, forcing herself to calm down. She was going to be in no shape to lead this quest if she wasn't at least somewhat in control of herself. Harper got up from the rock she was sitting on to check on her two bags, that were currently sitting in the grass. She started pacing, trying to get out some of this nervous energy before she went insane. Sophie and Gavin would be here soon enough, wouldn't they? Then they would start this whole thing. Which was what Harper was afraid of at this point.

The night before leaving for the quest was a rough night. Soph kept waking up in cold sweats and twisted in her sheets of her bed. Nightmares. Things she hoped and prayed to the gods that would never happen. Harper, Gavin and her had just gotten on a bus to head off to wherever they were headed. After getting off they get attacked by a man who looked very familiar, who she may had seen in New York when she went by herself. His eyes she could never forget. One blue and the other was brown…. And that was not the worse. Phoebes interfered but... Soph couldn’t remember anything else. Then right when she woke she remembered falling. To her death? She shook her head and ran a hand threw her hair. Looking at her watch she sighed. Six am. Really? Breakfast was not for another two hours but it didn’t matter as she was not the hungry anyways.
Soph had gotten up quietly out of bed, careful not to wake up her fellow siblings. She got dressed and looked into the mirror they had in there room. Her bright green eyes were full of both excitement and worry. Stupid dreams. But they were just dreams weren’t they? Yeah not for a demi-god. Clutching her bow and her bag Soph went out to the archery fields and began to shoot. Something that calmed her down. She was really excited but worried too. Mostly worried for her younger sister Harper. Sophie knew Harper by now. Well it had been two years so they have gotten to know each other well. Right then and there Sophie made a vow that no matter what happens, she was not going to let anything happen to Harper and her (Harper’s) boyfriend Gavin.
It had been an hour and a half since Soph had woke and breakfast was in half an hour at eight. Still not really that hungry, but eating an apple or two anyways to keep her strength, Soph looked through her bag to make sure she had everything she needed: A couple of apples, granola energy bars, a couple of plastic baggies of ambrosia and a couple of things of nectar, her ipod nano, some drachmas and regular money for travel, plus a brand new credit card that hasn’t even been used in the past two years since she gotten it for emergencies and her most precious thing of all, her bow and arrows. She over looked the lake in thought and stuck her hands in her jacket pocket. Just then she realized that she had a note in her pocket that was not in there last night when laying out her clothes. It was the poem that she had written for Hayden. How it get there? Okay new plan. She would protect both Gavin and Harper in anyway she could, then come back to Hayden.
Nodding to herself she made her way to where Harper said to meet her. She looked sick and a nervous reck. She put on a brave and happy face for her sister and walked quickly over and sat down. “Hey girly,” she smiled. “Did you get any sleep at all last night?” she asked concerned. Probability not considering that Soph was tossing and turning and kept hearing things beside her where Harp slept. “Listen its going to be fine, alright.” Soph promised and smiled a little. Really she was trying to reassure herself as well trying to rid the memory of the horrified dream.

Gavin had been up for hours just sitting and staring at the painting of Harper he had done. It was masterful. A small smile pulled his lips after a while. The mornings first light jetted through the windows. Gavin slowly got off the bed and went over. He leaned against the wall and stared out at the sunlight. “Hey mom.” He muttered softly. Gavin was always up by first light, kind of a kid of Eos thing. And every morning he would greet his mom but she never replied. Gavin gave up on the hope she would, now he just said it out of habit.
He didn’t attend breakfast, he rarely did anyway. Stealing things from the kitchen was actually a lot easier than he thought it would be. He had a secret stash of food and ambrosia and nectar in a small trunk under his bed. He took a half of a PB&J and stuck it in his mouth, a portion of it dangled from his lips, trapped ready and waiting to be nomed. His stomach grumbled in disagreement at the choice of breakfast. It wasn’t all hunger though.
Gavin had to admit, he still wasn’t thrilled about Harper receiving a quest. He hated the idea of her leaving camp. Shoving two random shirts into a backpack he thought again about the million things that could go wrong. Gavin had never worried so much about one person before and while it felt nice to care about someone it was quickly becoming a burden. Not that Harper was a burden just the fact that he cared for her was. Gavin swallowed those thoughts and promised himself to never say any of that out loud to anyone. He knew what he meant no one else would understand.
Gavin dug his hand back into the bag and grabbed onto the shirts he had just shoved in. He brought them up to his nose and sniffed. Gavin paused for a second as he worked out the equation in his head about how long it had been since these shirts were washed. They didn’t smell terrible but they weren’t exactly fresh from the dryer. Gavin shrugged and stuffed them back inside. He wandered across the lone cabin and picked up a few other odds and ends. He strapped his piano wristwatch on and slipped a few silver dog-tag chains over his head. Back over at his bedside Gavin shook the book bag to make room for a few more things. He dropped in his toothbrush, his favorite pen and of course his most recent black and white composition. This mornings early entry was the reason he was bringing it with him... There was water everywhere. It was pounding against my eardrums so I thought they might burst. I couldn’t see anything but mist at first but as it cleared I saw two punk kids wearing leather jackets. I think there was a mirror somewhere because they looked like the same person. One of them smile at me and his eyes were glowing red.
When I blinked I was back at camp and I saw Harper, she was crying. I wanted to go over to her and hold her. Each teardrop sounded like the million gallons of water from before. I couldn’t move though. I wasn’t meant to I think. I just watched as she cried. And I heard laughter and it was cruel and evil.
I blinked again and everything was black. I heard a scream, it sounded like Harper. I prayed it wasn’t Harper but I had no way of knowing. I tried to call out to her but instead my mouth formed the words, “Dark deeds don’t go unpunished.” It wasn’t my voice, it was someone else distorted but it came out as a warning. It was weird. And I remember feeling this kind of overwhelming power. It was evil but....I liked it. It scared me at how much I liked the feeling....I can’t tell Harper. But I have to keep her safe. I like who I am around her, and I wont let that go even if I love her for selfish reasons. She is the only....I just said I love her...
--gavin 3:43a.m. Gavin heaved a sigh and he adjusted the strap on his shoulder. He knew that demigod dreams meant something, and he would figure it out. Until he did though he would not tell anyone about it. Grabbing his sword last minute he sheathed it at his side and left the Eos Cabin. He stopped at the bottom of the steps. He glanced back and surveyed the doors. A feeling in his gut told him to take one last good look because he may not see it again. It was a stupid feeling.
He made his way across camp a scowl glued to his face. He glared at a few campers who made an attempt to wish him good luck on the quest. They moved off in a hurry. Since when did people think it was okay to speak to him? Being with Harper was bringing down his bad boy rep. Still, he was head over heels for the daughter of Apollo. When he saw Harper’s chocolate head he smiled and hurried in his pace to get over to her. Gavin slowed when saw another girl with her. That must have been her sister, the other one who was going on this quest. Two daughters of Apollo and a son of Eos. Oh yes, this was going to be a successful quest packed full of sun. Gavin wasn’t good around other people. This was going to be interesting. He would be on his best behavior for Harper’s sake.
“Are we ready for some doom and gloom?” He asked walking right for Harper. He kissed the top of her head. Everyone knew about them by now so it didn’t matter if he showed PDA. He sniffed and looked up to the other brunette. Gavin could tell they were related, their features were just similar enough so they could pass for sisters. “So, you’re Sophie. I guess Harper has mentioned me at least once. Regardless, I’m Gavin and I’ll probably be the one keeping you guys alive.” He smirked a little. WORD COUNT”1041 NOTES”First, HOLY COW! Second: Tash I’m sorry if it seems like I am snatching you dream idea. I wrote Gavin’s dream journal entry before I read Sophie’s post. I think I am channeling Rachel today with seeing the future stuff. Things like this have been happening all day! I’m sorry >.<

today i'm gonna try a little harder, gonna make every minute last longer gonna learn to forgive and forget 'cause we don't have long gotta make the most of it
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dad, I know I don't pray to you often, Harper was now thinking frantically, But I really need you right now. She glanced up at the sun, knowing she wasn't going to get an answer and not even knowing whether or not her so-called father was listening. I'm about to lead this quest, as you probably know since you're the god of prophecy and all that, but... I'm really scared. I'm bringing Sophie with me, you know, and I'm bringing Gavin Sawyer. You work with his mom, I think - Eos? Well, you need to tell her that I'm going to do everything I can to make sure he gets back safe, okay? I know I probably can't do much, but I'm going to do everything I can to protect Gavin and Sophie, and... I guess the reason I'm praying to you is that I'm going to need help doing that.
But, just like she'd expected, she received no reply. Just the sun shining down on her like it always did in the mornings. Harper sighed, running a hand through her long, dark hair that was freshly straightened this morning. With everything pressing in on her, it was a miracle she'd even managed to remember to do that simple task. But quite honestly, even with everything going on, she still wanted to look good for Gavin. She wanted to be his Sunshine Girl, and if she looked like a complete hag then she wasn't exactly his bottle of sunshine now was she?
It was just as she was thinking this that Sophie showed up, and Harper looked up sharply to make sure it was indeed her sister that had come. It was. Harper offered a meager smile, but it was all she could manage. When Sophie greeted her and asked her about her sleep, Harper just decided to be honest. "No, not really. I hear nobody can sleep the night before their quest," she said bluntly, rubbing her eyes with her hands as though she could rub some sleep into them that way. If worst came to worst, she could sleep on the bus. After all, a five hour bus ride was probably the perfect time to catch up on her z's anyway.
"I know it'll be fine, but I just... worry," Harper told her sister with a sincere heart. She knew that this whole quest thing would probably turn out okay - after all, surely getting this armor of the gods and the aegis couldn't be too hard right? She would just have to face double the fear... someone falling over the falls... someone betraying her... oh, gods, what was she thinking? Of course this was going to be a disaster. And she'd led Sophie and Gavin right into it like some kind of trap. Why couldn't she have just gone by herself?
And that, of course, was when Gavin showed up. Harper instantly brightened in his presence. The thought of him beside her made her just a little more sane, and she knew she could do just about anything as long as it stayed that way. "Please don't remind me that this will be a total disaster," she whined as soon as he was near enough, joking only just a little bit. But since there was a smile on her face, she hoped nobody would take that statement seriously, because in all honesty she meant it.
A blush spread across her cheeks as he kissed the top of her head, but she kept quiet because she really did like it. She loved this side of Gavin - the tender side that she only got to see, and that was usually on somewhat rare occasions. But now since they were going to be around other people, Harper couldn't help but wonder how he would treat her then. She gave him a warning look at the tone he took with Sophie. "Hey, behave yourself, okay? Be nice, Sophie's my favorite sister." So then she looked between the pair of them and gave them both a weak smile, hoping to just get this over with, almost like she was ripping off a BandAid. "Now, should we set off? We can get tickets at the bus station and head up there. We'll be there by mid-afternoon at the latest if we get there soon."

Sophie studied her younger sister, honestly feeling terrible for her and worried for her. At all honestly Soph could not imagine the stress she was going through and again with all honestly Sophie did not know if she wanted to. Then again when in the world would she get her chance. Nodding, Soph sat next to her “Yeah I have been told that… I am sorry though. I wish there was something I could do to help,” She replied. The daughter of Apollo was always like that. Always putting others before herself. In this case if anything major happened to the two sisters and son of Eos.
The older daughter of Apollo has heard so much about Gavin Sawyer from Harper that Sophie felt like she already knew him. Even if she had never met him in person. Sure she had probably seen him around but Soph never got the chance to talk to him or anything. She wondered if he was all Harper said he was. Sophie put on a smile. Well if he made Harper happy, Soph could not complain. But if Gavin hurt Harp in any way he would have her to answer to. Soph pulled Harper in to a big sisterly hug. “Its okay nothing to worry about lil sis. You have me and Gavin to help you, alright?” she smiled to her.
Soph looked up at the sound of another presence. *So this must be the famous Gavin Sawyer, who as won my lil sister’s heart.* Soph thought to herself as she stood. He seemed alright and treated Harper with respect and everything. The thing was: They, meaning Harper and Gavin seemed like total opposites. But Soph seemed fine with him until he spoke a last line: and I’ll probably be the one keeping you guys alive. Oh no he didn’t. “Um thanks but I can handle myself. We maybe girls, but we Apollo girls are pretty tough.” After that slipped Soph could tell this was going to be fun. Not. She would be good and nice as normal for Harper’s sake. Though this is the first time since Soph actually met Gavin, there was something about him that didn't seem nice or that well at all. All she knew was that she would keep in eye on him. “And don’t worry Harp, like I said its going to be fine.” she said looking at her.
Soph smiled at Harper. Favorite sister? How was she suppose to reply to that. Well it was true that Sophie considered Harper her favorite younger sisters. Between all her siblings Harper had to be the one she felt closer to and felt like they had more in common which was weird considering they all came from the same father, and should act more alike, right? Not really. As the rest of the cabin slept, Soph and her would stay up late and talked. The only difference between them, and with Sophie from the rest of the camp was that she was always always practicing archery. “Um yeah sounds great, lets go!” Sophie smiled trying to hide her excitement. Finally she was going on a quest. Though it was not her own she was still excited. especially when it was going with a sibling.

Gavin gave a sideways smirk at Harper. She was cute when she was all worried and stuff. The smirk didn’t last too long though. Gavin could only hope that their adventure would end in disaster as Harper had said. With that dream he had the previous night though, Gavin had doubts that he would be able to protect Harper from whatever it is that would happen. He didn’t want to see her cry like that ever again.
When Sophie spoke Gavin found himself straightening his shoulders back and tilting his chin up. It was his subconscious attempt at appearing bigger than her. He wasn’t aware that he was really doing it. He looked her up and down again, and scoffed. “I don’t know about famous. Maybe infamous.” Gavin loved being a jackass at times. Being cruel to others still gave him a rush, but being with Harper and showing his caring side felt good too. Though it only felt good around her. Gavin was still not fond of showing weakness to others.
“How good are you at close range combat? I mean I know you could school me in archery but I think I have you both beat when it comes to sword play.” Gavin drew Way of Dawn, his celestial bronze sword and twirled it in his hand to make a point. “I’m not saying because you’re both girls you can’t handle yourselves. That’d just be mean.”
He stared at Sophie for a while only tearing his eyes away when Harper spoke. Gavin sighed sheathing his sword. He took Harper’s hand and squeezed it gently. Harper’s scold didn’t affect Gavin in the way that she probably meant it to. Her warning was comical to Gavin. Gavin’s lips formed a small smile. Gods, was she so adorable. “I am behaving myself, and since when am I not nice to people?” He asked raising an eyebrow.
He held his breath for a second glancing over at Sophie and her excitement. Gavin could tell she was trying to hide it but it was obvious. It was also obvious that Gavin wasn’t quite thrilled about all of this. He did his best to keep his poker face on. He would go to protect Harper...and her sister. Gavin wasn’t going to let anything happen to his Sunshine Girl. He adjusted the book bag on his shoulder and extended an arm, “Lead the way oh fearless leader.” He said to Harper. He gave her the best look of encouragement he could muster.
When the time was right he would tell Harper about the dream, maybe. Gavin would wait until the following night to see if the dream came back and if it went anywhere else. The evil laughter still echoed in his head. Gavin also couldn’t shake that feeling of power, or rather the absence of it. Although he would never admit it to anyone, Gavin wanted to feel invincible again. He knew that the power was evil and but he wanted it. If the opportunity arose, Gavin was afraid he would do anything to get it. WORD COUNT”512 NOTES”foreshadowing!!! haha

today i'm gonna try a little harder, gonna make every minute last longer gonna learn to forgive and forget 'cause we don't have long gotta make the most of it
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They hadn't even started the quest yet, and already she could tell that her sister and her boyfriend weren't going to like each other. Harper sighed - this was going to be much harder than she had originally bargained for, which was fairly hard. If Sophie and Gavin couldn't get along, then how on earth was she going to get through this? In one piece? Quite honestly, that had been the million dollar question from day one. Gavin and Sophie knew her very well, they both probably knew just how much she was worried about this whole thing. She'd had experience travelling and sight-seeing, but never fighting monsters outside of combat training in camp.
They were both, at least, on board with the whole bus idea. In Harper's eyes, it was the only efficient way to get to Niagara Falls without attempting to get through an airport with medieval weaponry hidden in their bags. That would have been fun, if they were insane. When Gavin took her hand in his, she felt a part of her relax - just being around him helped her unwind. This was precisely one of the reasons why she'd thought to invite him on this quest. He would help keep her sane throughout all the craziness that was sure to result from this quest. And she knew he'd never let her go alone - even if she'd hadn't invited him she knew he probably would have come along anyway. "Don't even get me started on the niceness issue, okay?" she asked him with a smile, pecking him on the cheek. She didn't want to make Sophie feel uncomfortable with all their PDA, so Harper promised herself to keep it as limited as possible.
She looked back at Sophie with a small smile, her eyes gleaming. And of course she'd brought her favorite sister on this quest with her. After all, Sophie was probably one of the greatest voices of reason when nobody else could be. She was also the best archer in the Apollo cabin. With her and Gavin on this quest, Harper was sure they'd be able to protect themselves. So she was all confident and all ready to go. She wrinkled her nose at the 'fearless leader' comment and tugged on his hand. "Come on then, let's go!" Harper picked up her two bags with her other hand and slung one over her shoulder. She grinned at Sophie cheerfully, though some of the cheerfulness was fake, and together they began heading for the bus station in Manhattan.
They were, after all, on a quest. Harper would have to be lying if she'd said she wasn't the least bit excited. This could be a chance to prove herself. To whom, she wasn't really sure, but it was still something to think about. She didn't even think about the darker side of the prophecy, which she knew she'd have to tell Gavin and Sophie eventually. All she knew was that they were all going to go on an adventure. And for now, that was good enough for her. "So, has anyone ever been to Niagara Falls? Other than me?" she asked brightly, not entirely sure if she expected an answer or not.

Oh this was going to be fun. Not. It was like he could read her mind. Infamous indeed, though famous to Harper, she was sure. Yeah this defiantly was going to be a trip she would never forget. Sophie felt that on this trip alone, she would be apologizing more in her life then ever before. For Harper’s sake, she would be kind. The eldest daughter of Apollo would not let a guy, especially a cocky one like this, ruin a trip only one could dream of. “Actually I’m quiet good, thanks,” she replied. Because of Chiron and Hayden, she had quickly picked up on sword fighting. “Sword and Bow both…although I’m better at bow up close and far away. So yeah I can handle myself. Us Apollo girls are pretty tough.”She smiled. She wanted to include Harper in that to raise her sister’s sprit’s a little bit.
Sophie smiled at her younger sister. To be completely honest, Harp was her favorite. They had more and more in common then the other siblings. Up late at night talking and everything. Hearing Harper excited about the trip now was better, especially after seeing Harp taking everything in the past week or so. Either way Sophie would be there for her younger sister no matter what. Even if it meant dealing with her annoying I am to cool for you boyfriend.
Then they where off. Soph wondered what the quest would be like. She hoped nothing would go majorly wrong. That would be worse then the Underworld, whatever that was like. She wanted nothing at all to go wrong. Haha yeah like everything would be perfect like a happy family trip. Not for a demi-god. “No I havn’t. But I heard it was beautiful,” she replied.

Gavin sighed. He still couldn’t get his mind off of that dream. He put on his game face and glanced over to Sophie. There was still a doubt in his mind that these two could get out of a serious scrap. Sure they could handle some minor monster but should they come up against a God or a big nasty beast from the deep they were completely screwed. Gavin slid his arm around Harper’s waist.
“Calm down.” He muttered to Sophie. “I didn’t mean to trample on your precious Apollo pride.”
Gavin realized that he wasn’t exactly being Mr. Friendly but he couldn’t help it, second nature and all. He adjusted his backpack and followed after Harper. When he caught up with her he grabbed a hold of her hand. He wasn’t about to let her out of his sights for a split second. His mind wandered and played out various scenarios in his head of what could possibly go wrong on this quest. He didn’t mean to be such a pessimist but the mind always played the “what if” game. It was very rare if the game had positive outlooks. He blinked and looked over to Harper realizing she had said something.
“What? Oh, umm.” Gavin thought back. He had been to a lot of places but he wasn’t sure if Niagara Falls was one of them. He tilted his head and gave a shrug. “Looks like you are alone when it comes to that Sunshine Girl.” Gavin squeezed her hand a little bit. “Never really had a reason to go there. I skipped out on the family vacation a while back. Who’s idea of fun is to go stare at rushing water? Yeah, that sounds like a boat load of family fun.” Gavin rolled his eyes. He looked up to Sophie and scoffed, “Its just water, what can be so beautiful about it?” WORD COUNT”315 NOTES”by the GODS that was a terrible post. I am sorry guys!

today i'm gonna try a little harder, gonna make every minute last longer gonna learn to forgive and forget 'cause we don't have long gotta make the most of it
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Harper couldn't have been more excited or nervous - any more of either emotion probably would make her burst. There was practically a bounce in her step as she walekd with her boyfriend and dear sister, and she thought about what exactly they were supposed to do on this quest. She knew exactly what time the Greyhound bus would be leaving, and so they had plenty of time to walk. She gave Gavin a look though as they continued onwards. "I know it sounds boring, but Niagara Falls is really a beautiful place. Especially at night. Kind of reminds you just how powerful nature can be - that's what I love about it." She smiled at both of them. "You guys will see what I mean when we get there."
The rest of the walk was reasonably quiet - the Greyhound station was at the edge of the city, so their walk really wasn't that far. Once they'd reached the ticket station, Harper was exceptionally relieved to find that the bus she wanted them to take still had tickets available and that it had not yet left. She set down her things and pulled out the wallet she'd tucked into one of her packs. The ticket seller gave Harper one of those 'you look a little young to be doing this but I'll let it slide because you're giving me money' looks when Harper said, "I'd like three tickets for the 11:30 bus to Niagara Falls, please."
The woman reluctantly handed Harper the three tickets after receiving the cash, gave the three of them, one last suspicious look, and then waved them off so she could tend to the next customer.
The bus station was a reasonably busy place. Harper towed her two bags away and stowed her wallet back into her satchel and distributed a ticket to Sophie, and one to Gavin. She threw her bags back on her shoulders and looked around, trying to spot the bus they were to be taking. "It should be around here somewhere," she said confidently. "I think it's... oh, look! I found it!" She pointed at one of the larger Greyhound buses and grinned proudly. She looked between Gavin and Sophie with a look of pure excitement - it was time to get this thing on the road. "You guys wanna go get seats?"
She didn't notice the man that was watching them from the shadows of the ticket building - he was wearing a suit and had both of his eyes, one brown and one blue, fixated on the three teenagers.

Sophie did not really say anything when it came to Gavin. There was just something about him, and she did not know what it was, that really bothered and worried her. She made no comment about her so called ‘precious Apollo pride.’ Well didn’t Harp have it too? Surly she had to otherwise. Okay Sophie be nice. You are here to help Harper and not judge her choice in men.” she replied mentally to herself. She rolled her eyes. “Um how about when the light shines off the falls and make a rainbow or something cool like that?” she replied trying to be nice about it. Oh joy this really was going to be fun.
Yep this was going to be a long bus ride. Oh well Soph had her iPod and a book or a couple hours or so. Then there was just looking out the windows taking shots that maybe she could attempt to draw later. She just smiled and nodded at her younger sister, trusting her completely.
Sophie took the ticket she was handed that would take her on a bus to Niagara Falls and put her bag around on her shoulders. Right when she was about to reply to Harp she stoped cold and looked around. The feeling she once got from being in New York on her own was back. Looking around her glance came to a tall dark man with multicolored eyes. Blah okay so she did not loose him back there in the ally. She was out numbered and could not finish him off herself. “Um sure… you’re coming right? Like now?” she asked, her hand slowly reaching behind her touching her hidden bow, so if needed she could get to it quickly. She looked away. Well crud she thought as the three headed to the bus.

Gavin sighed and tried not to look too bored as Harper and Sophie gushed over Niagara Falls. Something told him they wouldn’t have time to take in the sights or witness how powerful nature could be. They would be busy seeing how powerful the local monsters could be. He kept a hold of her hand though as they walked. “Its just water.” Gavin muttered again. Gavin glanced down at the sword hanging from his belt. Well crap. He paused before they left camp and gestured for them to wait. Luckily they had passed the store. He grabbed a duffle bag and emptied his book bag into it and placed his sword inside. It only took about ten minutes and he jogged back to Harper. “That would have been hard to explain.”
As they traveled to the bus station Gavin wondered if they should have taken a few of the Pegasi and a chariot. After all three of them would have been masters at driving it. Taking a Greyhound would a little less conspicuous. Still, Gavin wasn’t too fond of being around other people. He really just wanted to get this quest over with. That feeling of dread was starting to grow inside of his stomach. He took the ticket and flashed Harper a quick halfhearted smile. When they found their bus Gavin just raised an eyebrow at Harper’s excitement. How could she be so sunshine in a time like this?
He shoved his free hand into his pocket and shrugged. “Sure.” Gavin glanced to Sophie suspiciously. He didn’t notice the man but that feeling was still making his stomach churn. Gavin thought it was just because of his dream. He assumed Sophie was just being cautious and turned his attention to Harper. “Maybe we can get seats in the back. I don’t like people sitting behind me. It’s a control thing.” Gavin handed over his ticket and climbed onto the bus tugging at Harper’s arm to get her to follow.
Gavin made a fast path for the last remaining seats in the back. When a young couple tried to sit there Gavin glared at them and told them to move. They moved. Gavin would probably hear an earful from Harper but he didn’t care. He slid into the window seat placing his new duffle bag in the compartment overhead before sitting. Gavin exhaled and stared out the window at the bus terminal. “So this trip is what six hours total?” He asked a loud. “Do me a favor and wake me when we get there. Despite what you may think I’m not exactly a morning person.” Gavin settled into the less than comfortable seat and closed his eyes. He felt uneasy and wondered if he fell asleep would that dream come back to him? WORD COUNT”464 NOTES”hope this is okay! OUTFIT”H E R E

today i'm gonna try a little harder, gonna make every minute last longer gonna learn to forgive and forget 'cause we don't have long gotta make the most of it
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quite honestly, Harper had never taken a bus anywhere before. Not even a school bus to go on any kind of trip. She'd ridden the camp van before to New York, but other than that she'd never really driven in a car to anywhere. She was used to flying on a plane or taking a train to wherever she was headed. Surely this couldn't be much different, could it? As she managed to hobble onto the bus with her satchel and backpack full of stuff, Harper looked around. Gavin was already making a beeline for the back, and she automatically followed him.
As soon as she saw him order the couple to move, Harper sighed and blew a strand of her dark brown hair away from her face. She'd let his grumpiness slide this time - it was still a little too early for her as well this morning. But that didn't mean that as she passed the couple, who'd taken seats further up the bus, she couldn't murmur a, "Sorry about that," which is exactly what she did. Harper struggled just a little bit with trying to get her backpack, which was full of the things she'd need once they'd gotten to Niagara Falls, into the overhead compartment, but she managed just barely. Taking her satchel carefully so she wouldn't hit anyone, she slid into the seat next to Gavin and set her satchel down on the seat next to her to reserve it for Sophie (there were three seats per back row).
She went through her things in the satchel really quickly, pulling out a small blanket her mother had given her for traveling when she was only three. Granted, the blanket was too small for her now, but it was always a comfort to have it with her. Glancing at Gavin and biting her lip as he spoke, she completely freed the blanket from her satchel and offered it to him. "It always helps me sleep on a trip, if you want it," she said, pulling her satchel onto her lap so Sophie could sit down then. "You can sleep on my shoulder too, if it's more comfortable. I won't mind."
Although, as soon as all three of them were on the bus and seated, Harper did notice the suited man board the bus as well. He was wearing sunglasses now, which the daughter of Apollo found odd considering as they were on a bus and there really was no need to wear such accessories, but she didn't comment. He looked like any other ordinary passenger, except for when his gaze seemed to fall upon the three demi-gods, Harper shuddered involuntarily. Even thought she couldn't see his eyes, the way he looked at them seemed almost kind of hungry. Which, of course, made her even more nervous than she already was. Harper sank back into her seat, trying to make herself appear smaller and shorter as she huddled closer to Gavin almost as if it were natural instinct.
"Something about him is so creepy," she whispered to Sophie as softly as she could.
WORD COUNT: 557 OUTFIT: Fashionable Quest Attire OTHER: Harper's Blankie NOTES: I hope that whole 'Once they were all sitting down' thing doesn't seem like godmoding. >.> If it does, I'm uber sorry and I'll fix it.

Sophie didn’t zone out like she normally did when she went on a trip. She had a book and her ipod with her always, trying to relax. This defiant time she couldn’t. The eldest Apollo girl had learned to act casual over the years as to not get attention from monsters. She was calm as if nothing was to happen. Going over to her seat, she was one of few that ignored Gavin’s…er attitude was the best word for it. Putting her bag right there in front of her, where she could reach everything, she looked out of her window, but then again keeping an eye out in front of them.
“Thanks Harp… you too Gavin,” she said honestly. “Really great seats,” Her voice showed really of thanks and no sarcasm. For three demi-gods these were great seats. Feeling Harp next to her, she touched her shoulder with hers’. Since being sisters they could tell or more so read each other well. She felt it too. She knew what the other disturbing passenger was but how could she tell her other two comrads with out him noticing? Messing around on her ipod making it look like she was listening to it. “Hey Harp want to play a game for awhile with me on my ipod? she asked her htough it sounded quite random. She went to her notes instead and wrote: I know… I’ve seen him before he’s… but before she could type anymore or anything, he seemed to get/sit closer to them. Nodding to the young demi-gods he pretended to read the paper in his hands.

Gavin couldn’t fall asleep at first, his mind was still anxious about the possible dream he might have. He heard Harper mention something about a guy creeping her out. He would have thought more on it but this was a greyhound. Gavin had traveled on plenty of them before, the folks who used public transportation weren’t exactly the freshest faced people in the world. They sure wouldn’t win any beauty contests, except Harper. He smirked a little at the idea of Harper in a two-piece. Beauty at its finest. Since Sophie didn’t seemed too worried Gavin let the noise of their voices drift away as sleep took a hold of him.
Everything was dark. At first Gavin saw the camp from over head. Activities were as normal, nothing out of the ordinary was happening. It was a calming scene, but then everything suddenly changed. In a split second, like blinking, the camp was utter chaos. Campers were screaming and shouting orders, a few of the cabins were on fire and the sound of celestial bronze hitting celestial bronze echoed in the air.
The scene changed a few seconds later and Gavin was surrounded by water again in what looked to be a cave. It was his dream from before. Two teenaged boys with leather jackets stood in front of him. The one on the right was smiling at Gavin, and his eyes glowed like rubies. Gavin had never felt so afraid in his entire life. He wanted to shout but his voice was caught in his throat. The image of Harper, huddled on the ground appeared before his eyes. Gavin reached out to her but she vanished like smoke when he tried to touch her shoulder.
Harper! He finally shouted. His voice reverberated off the walls and shattered everything around him into pieces like a mirror. Then Gavin was falling fast, wind rushing past his face. It smelled stale and old, like dead air. His journey came to an abrupt stop. He landed on his feet, if this wasn’t a dream his legs would have broken from the force. He looked around and saw nothing but blackness again. Harper’s image faded in before his eyes.
Harper?
She opened her mouth but as she spoke no sound was audible. She looked upset, angry at him. Gavin wasn’t sure if he wanted to know what she had to say.
Alone. You are always alone Gavin. But alone, you will find true power.
Harper faded away again. Gavin could have sworn he saw a tear role down her cheek. He wanted to know what happened that had caused her to look so sad. He hated to think that he was the one who caused it all. Gavin swallowed and glanced around looking for the source of the voice.
Gavin, wouldn’t you love to make them pay for everything? For killing your sister, the one person who loved you?
There it was again, that feeling of overwhelming power, that evil power that Gavin could not help but feel drawn to. He tried to ignore it but it manifested itself in front of him, taking the form of a small ball of light. Gavin reached out for it and put his hand over top of the light. It felt warm and powerful. Gavin wanted it to be apart of him more than he ever wanted anything before. More than he wanted to be with Harper. That fear caused him to pull his hand back. A cold burst of laughter filled the void and the ball of light shot off into the darkness. The face of a man, one eye brown the other blue stared at him with a vicious grin. His human teeth slowly morphed into razor sharp teeth. His great maw open and rushed forward as to engulf Gavin’s head.
Gavin woke with a start, kicking the seat in front of him. He sat up trying to play off his scare. He pinched the bridge of his nose and quickly wiped the sweat from his forehead. That dream was worse than the previous one. Gavin hated being a demigod for these reasons alone. His dreams had never bothered him this much before. He wanted to write it all down in his journal so he would not forget but something told him there was no forgetting this dream. Gavin cracked his neck and wondered how long he had been asleep for. He sat up and glanced around almost refusing to look at Sophie and Harper.
He was about to stare out the window when a specific face caught his attention. A man with a brown and green eye. There was no mistaking it, that was the man from his dream. It was no happy coincidence that Gavin saw this man in his head with sharp teeth. Coincidences didn’t happen to demigods, fate did. Gavin sat up alert in him chair. The man was staring directly at them. After a second he stood up and made his way toward the trio. Gavin felt his heart begin to race. He ducked his head to Harper and Sophie.
