For a moment Alice really feared that Alex would just leave her to fight the fury herself. She wasn't sure what she would do if that happened. Hopefully the gods would help her, because goodness knows bringing her back would be too easy a way to manipulate her brother. They would want to avoid giving their enemies a way to turn a demi-god against them. Or she hoped they would want to do that. It didn't take being Aphrodite to see how her brother felt for her, and it didn't take being Athena to see how Isaac would react if something were to happen to her. Then again, maybe her brother was just a pawn to the gods. She'd never really figured that part out. Heroes and demi-gods went on all these quests and missions for the gods, and in the end mythology never really seemed to indicate if the gods truly cared what happened to their half-mortal children or not.
Fortunately, none of that ended up mattering. Alex made a swipe at the fury's neck with his sword. Even so, a part of her still wondered if it was safe to trust him. He could just as easily betray her as prove that he was on her side. After all, where had he gotten a magical weapon capable of killing monsters? It all made her think back to Isaac's stories of the Battle of Manhattan. Her father had asked about them, and it was the only time she'd been able to really be around her brother, the times when the three of them would sit around and Isaac would tell of the battle the demi-gods had fought. In that fight, some demi-gods had sided with the Titans, the bad guys. It sounded to her, sometimes, like there were always wars and battles going on, ones that the mortals never knew of. Had Alex gotten mixed up in something. Would Alice be forced to take a side because of her involvement with him and her connection to Isaac? There could be a new war brewing even now, and she'd have no clue.
She shook those thoughts aside, trying to figure out how she could end the fight with the fury. Well, not how she could end it as much as how she could help end it. Then again, she swore Alex had hesitated in attacking the fury the last time she'd distracted it. Did she dare risk that he wouldn't do the same thing again? Did she trust him enough to hope that he wouldn't leave her to take the fall? She looked at the brick in her hand now, hesitating to throw it at the fury. Could she trust him? She thought so, but at the same time it seemed like a gray area.
She chucked a brick at the fury again, finally deciding that she would have to chance it. She wouldn't stand by and do nothing. She wasn't the kind of girl to play damsel in distress, even if she really couldn't do as much as he could. Hopefully her actions were going to have a good outcome. I could leave him to die, or to fight it himself, just as easily as he could leave me. And there's nothing to say that, if we both ran, the fury would follow me. He really didn't want to mess with Alice. She'd learned a thing or two from her brother, so she wasn't a good person to make angry.
OOC: Sorry she didn't do much. I couldn't find a whole lot for her to react to and wasn't sure if you wanted me to keep NPCing the Fury or not. Posting For: Alex Ruckshack Word Count:606

The thought to just leave Alice by herself to fight the freak old lady turning monster was just that. A thought, and nothing else. As he contemplated about it for a half a second, it did seem rather cruel. Then again that was the fun of it. If this girl didn't have something that could get rid of the Fury and she died, Alex would probably get a very angry demigod by the name of Isaac hunting him down. Unless, of course he didn't care about her. Then again, from what she had told him about her brother, he didn't seem the type. Granted that her brother got a dream or a police report or something else. One of the things that Kath had told him that demigods could have weird and rather real dreams. Alex thought it would only be the Oracle getting the freak foreseeings, but he guessed that demigods could get them too. They were half god, anyway.
A slight smirk flickered over his face before he remembered the situation at hand. Right, a Fury was attacking them on the street and he was trying to get rid of it. Alex took his transformed, celestial bronze sword and swiped at the thing's neck once again; he was hoping it would land on a fatal area. Hopefully aimed properly and hard enough to be able to "kill" it and send it to Tartarus for a few decades. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Alice chucking another brick at it. She was doing her best to distract it and he had to give her credit for it. She was doing a pretty good job, she didn't have a bad aim either. He could sort of see her shooting arrows, he had no idea why though. Alex was certain that she'd have more success at archery then he had.
Ah well, at least he hadn't actually left her by herself. If he had, or did, she didn't really have a chance. Alex really doubted that any help would come at all. The gods didn't even care about their own kids, their own blood, so forget about some random mortal girl who was a demigod's half sibling on the mortal side. Regular mortals... well, Alex didn't even want to know what the sightless humans were seeing. He was hoping that no one was watching, but he still didn't really want to imagine what they may be seeing. Him swiping a sword at a little girl? An innocent bystander? Ugh... half of his body gave a mental involuntary shiver. This Mist was powerful stuff. Most of the time he could see right though, but then there was always that percentage of times were he couldn't. Such as when he met Apate, Julia and Eris in that alley way. Something he did not necessarily want to remember. His head had been hurting something awful.
Another brick was flung at the monster and Alex took another swipe. Come on, he growled inwardly. Just die and go to Tartarus or Hades or wherever you came from! All he could hope was that his minimal weapon training would work. Practicing sword fighting in NYC wasn't the best idea unless you wanted to be reported to the police or some official for being a whacko. Alex had only worked with a single sword for a few months and wasn't even that good; forget double, he'd probably just slice himself. Besides, he was already on the run as it was, he didn't need to draw even more attention to himself. He remembered that on the first day by himself, he had done some Tai Chi in the morning. It was in a park, but no one else was around. It had drawn some stares, but less so when a few older people joined him; he was not doing that by himself ever again.OOC: OH MY GODS! Luck or the fates or gods or... something was on their side. Between Alice throwing bricks and Alex's sword, the fury was looking away and the exact wrong moment. Unable to dodge Alex's blade, her head went rolling along the ground for a moment before she turned into gold dust, vanquished for the moment. Of course her sisters would not be happy about this. Chances were they might try to exact revenge, though would they really believe that two mortals had been able to defeat their sister? Most mortals couldn't even SEE the real appearance of a fury. Defeating one was probably out of the question.
A brick was still in Alice's hand, and she glanced down at this before dropping it onto the ground. "That was more excitement than I'd expected to deal with tonight," she said as she made her way over closer to Alex and the spot where the fury had stood. "We made a pretty good team." For now, she trusted him... at least a little. Anyone could turn on you in a moment's notice, and she didn't know Alex well enough to know whether he'd turn on her or not. For now she was willing to settle for calling him an ally. It wasn't much, but it was something.
She stood there for a moment, feeling a little awkward, before she said. "We should move. I don't want to be here if the other two show up wondering what happened to their sister. Fighting one fury was enough for one night." Honestly she'd rather just leave the monster fighting to Isaac and the other demi-gods. They had training and the proper weapons. She had skill as a distraction, but that could get her killed since she couldn't defend herself if - and more likely when - a monster decided to take care of the nuisance that she was being. Unless she could get a sword or something like Alex's... and that still left her wondering how he'd gotten it, but that was probably a question best saved for another time when they weren't potentially being targeted by the angry sisters of the fury they'd just killed.

Alex's sword slashed... and the Fury's head went rolling. An involuntary shiver went through his system. He had just decapitated something. He had just KILLED something. Alex couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt, even though the Fury had just tried to kill them. Even though he knew that it would go to Tartarus and then come back alive. It was still a living thing that he had killed with a blade. The color drained from his face, mostly from shock and another on coming headache. A nauseating feeling went from the pit of his stomach to his head, but gratefully he didn't throw up. "We.... we're not even supposed to be seeing these things!" he muttered, half holding onto the wall of a building and still bug eyed at the place where the fury's golden dust was floating. Stupid Mist thing. He remembered that Hecate had showed him what she would of looked like if he couldn't have Vision. Right now, he was almost wishing that he had kept it that way.
"Oh... my... gosh!" he groaned. Second time in a month. Sheesh! First with Hecate, now with another girl would could also see them. What was this world coming to?! His head snapped up upon hearing Alice's voice. "Y-yeah... tell me me about it..." he muttered, shivering. He looked at the girl again; she didn't seem the type to be seeing through the Mist, but then again, neither did he. Alex supposed that any mortal could see through and no one would ever know. He a slight smile. "I suppose we do..." Alex agreed, tapping his sword thrice and shrinking it into a pocket knife. He knew he didn't seem like a trustworthy guy; he had a sword, was wandering in an alley way at night... could see Monsters, but right now, they kinda needed to trust eachother to stay alive... putting aside what Kath had told him about trust.
He nodded slightly. "Good idea..." he muttered, starting up the alley. Alex had roamed the streets for a few weeks before, and had remembered his way around. "Enough for a life time if you ask me..." he sighed. Alex turned around to look at the younger girl. "I'm sure Isaac and my brother would probably of done that with a bit of more grace," he said, a slight tease in his voice. He knew that both of them were no types of fighters. Sure, Kath had taught him how to handle a blade, but he still pretty much was an amateur if he was compared to the demigods at Camp.
OOC: Yay ^^ I finally got Alex's swing again too IC: 445

He had a point. They just weren't really equipped to deal with fighting with monsters. However the demi-gods and the heroes of myth - most of whom technically were demi-gods themselves - did it was beyond her. Maybe that was kind of the point though. The reason they could was blatantly obvious in that they could because they were demi-gods. Mortals were not meant to deal with this sort of stuff, technically not even meant to see this stuff. Whatever they case, she counted them lucky to have survived this encounter.
"You're right. They probably would have handled way better than we had. Then again, they get trained to do this sort of thing. That, and they would have been able to double team the fury too." Not that she and Alex hadn't, in a way. Still, both of their brothers would be able to fight the fury on their own. They would have had the weapons and training to do so. Alice didn't have anything. She was lucky she hadn't gotten herself killed doing what little she had. Then again, Alex might not have been able to slice the fury's head off if she had just played the damsel in distress. She had done something. How much difference that made... well, in comparison to what a demi-god could have done it was a pretty feeble attempt. For a mortal it was probably fairly bold.
As Alex started heading off down another alley, she debated for a moment whether or not she should follow him. "So... Where are you going?" Of course, following him would answer that too. She decided that it fell in the category of trusting him as an ally. If he was going to lead her astray... she knew these city streets too. She could get out of most situations. If they involved monsters it might be a bit of a toss-up, but anything Alex as a mortal could throw at her she probably could handle. Just to be safe, though, she would keep her guard up some. Not that she was doing that against Alex alone. They'd run into one monster already. That one had pretty much snuck up on them. She wanted to be sure they were aware the next time one showed it's ugly face.
OOC: Not massive, but it's something. Sorry. Couldn't come up with much for her to say. Maybe we wrap this up soon? Unless you have ideas. Tag: Alex Word Count: 392

The girl had done a pretty good job of it, he thought. Alex knew that if he hadn't gone into Kath training, he would of lost his head; that went for both literal and metaphorical purposes. At least they hadn't died. He was sure that Kath wouldn't of minded, but Alex would prefer to stay alive until at least the age of twenty-one. That made him wonder. How long did they stay in that Camp? He doubted it was until they died... they had to let go of them at some point, right? It was just a summer camp... unless the kid didn't have anywhere to go during the year.
Alex nodded over at Alice. "Yeah, good point," he muttered. The kids were conditioned to train these things. Alex doubted that Ryan would double up with anyone, but he could always hope. Just for the sake of meeting his brother alive rather than dead if anything else. If only he wasn't a full blooded mortal... Alex was rather interested in what went on beyond the boundary line. He even wondered if there was a way of taking it off, but it proved futile, and he wasn't about to go trying again. It caused too many headaches and bruises. Wondering how he was going to get back, he decided to pocket the knife. It may of been stupid, but Alex wasn't exactly comfortable walking around with a sword in his hand, plus he had been feeling a bit off as of late.
"No where in particular," Alex said, turning around to look at her again. Only when he said it, did he realize the truthfulness in his statement. He seriously didn't know. It wasn't like he could go back to his father's at all, and Kath had dumped him for a reason. Suddenly, he was very glad that he put the knife away. He had already been labeled as nutcase so he didn't exactly want to give the cops a reason for putting him in juvie for blatantly having unregistered weapons and wandering around. "Where're you headed?" he asked in turn. She looked really young to be here on her own if he was honest with himself. Okay, fine... neither of them should of been out here by themselves at this age.
OOC: No problem... yeah. Sounds most logical... you know me, not that good at coming up with plots o.O IC: 394
