Julia smiled when her brother said he was good to have around if someone was having some sort of breakdown. Well then you’ll need to be around quite often… Julia was fairly sure there would be some more of these coming on in the future considering everything that would be going on. ”Well then I’m glad I ran into you and not one of our other siblings.” Most of the cabin wasn’t good for advice beyond which top looked best or who should be dating who. Not exactly the kind of advice she was looking for at that moment. ”I know I made a mess of my hair running through the woods, but you don’t need to make it worse! Do you have any idea how long I’m going to have to spend in the shower to get all of this out? Not to mention the damage that’s going to take so much more than just a shower to take care of. This is going to take forever.” She pouted. She wasn’t actually upset at Cam, but ruffling her hair had just set her off again. She laughed when he agreed with her about big brothers not being good for anything. At least with younger brothers you could force them to let you give them a makeover… Though Julia was pretty sure Cameron wouldn’t complain if it would make one of his sisters happy. But to be fair older brothers had their good points and sticking up for their siblings was just one of them. ”You see that?” she questioned, referring to Cam’s teasing, ”That’s why I didn’t want to talk to you about it.” But she couldn’t stop herself from laughing at his mood. ”Just be sure and remember this when I’m teasing you because you fall in love with someone here. Keep all of this in mind because I won’t be holding anything back.” She smirked, glad that things were starting to cheer up a bit. ”I don’t need help defining it, Cam. I know what it means. I’m just kind of confused as to why you’d think I was a good asset on a quest. I mean, I’m not the best fighter around and I’m definitely not a child of Athena when it comes to problem solving… I do have Charmspeaking, but who knows if you’d actually need that?” Not that Julia thought she was worthless, she just didn’t want to be a potential liability. ”Not all quests are deadly… right?” There was always the chance of running into monsters, she knew that, but did every quest involve someone risking life and limb? She definitely hoped not. Another thought popped into her head and she turned to look at him. ”When would we leave?” Phobos had said she had a day to think over his offer; and while she was pretty sure he had things on his plate other than coming after a daughter of Aphrodite she was still worried.[/blockquote]

It was right for her to be glad too. Cameron may have teased her, but it was only to try and make her feel better. The others would have legitimately mocked her with no feeling of remorse about it. He didn't like to think so harshly about his own family, but both he and Jules knew it was true. They were the best two out of their cabin, and that wasn't even Cameron being conceited. "I'm glad about it too, better to have me making fun of you a little then having one of the other sisters pointing at you and laughing at you, right?" He made a face as he pictured how that would've gone down. Then he would've had to both yell at the trainers and lecture whichever sister was being a stone-cold bitch.
Detangling another wild knot in Julia's hair, Cam offered her another goofy smile. "Well now it's going to take at least one less minute then it would've before." He wasn't exactly Oprah when it came to solving people's problems, but didn't they say it was the thought that counted? "And I'm sure it'll be just fine after a little deep conditioner." Oh sometimes he still hated his mother for giving him an unnecessary and embarrassing knowledge of hair products. No other guy in this camp besides his half-brothers probably even knew the purpose of deep conditioner. Well at least he still liked sports, pool, etc, like other guys, that made up for the pathetic knowledge of hair products...right?
Point two for Cameron! He'd gotten another laugh out of his sister, so he was doing pretty good on the cheering-her-up front. "Hey, hey, I wasn't that bad. Sorry, I'm not in sympathetic therapist mood," He held up his hands in a defensive gesture. He'd taken exactly one psych class in high school, and he had barely learned anything from it so a therapist, he was not. "I've already been there, done that, little Sis, so you've missed your chance." The demigod chuckled quietly as his eyes subconsciously focused on one of the few photo frames on his bedside table. Gods, it was about time to get rid of that photo of him and Delia. It was well past the time when he should've tossed it out. "But," He cleared his throat and turned his attention back to Julia. "If I happen to fall in love again anytime soon, I'll be more than happy to let you laugh at me."
"Who says we won't need Charmspeaking? That could be helpful in almost any situation," Cameron smiled weakly, even though that was a valid point. He was pretty positive that her Charmspeak would come in handy more than once. "And.. Well. One. Without you, that other girl I invited might just strangle me in my sleep after I drive her insane. And two I just need my little sister, okay?" He admitted with a small, sheepish shrug of the shoulders. Cameron didn't like to say he needed anyone, but the truth was he always needed his family, even if they were only half related to him. "Oh, plus, if I don't have someone to actually talk to without annoying them, that girl isn't going to be the only one to go insane." He pointed at himself, making that circular motion with his finger that indicated he was crazy.
"Oh, right. No of course not. You'll be fine." He tried to reassure her, and it was even pretty convincing considering he believed it himself. He wasn't planning on letting either Natalie or Julia get hurt on this quest. "Semi A-S-A-P?" Cameron suggested since he wasn't really sure himself. The Oracle had never really spit out a deadline, but it was obvious that you should probably get going pretty soon after you got the quest.

Cameron was right; it was much better to have him teasing her slightly than to have one of their other siblings laughing at her predicament. They would probably just think it was a boy toying with her heart, but it was so much more than that. ”If any of our other siblings had been here and had made fun of me, the shoe would have gone at their face and not at your stereo. And surgery is usually more expensive than a stereo, so it really is a good thing you were here instead.” That, or she would have just yelled at them until they went away. Or completely lost it and Charmspeaked them into doing something ridiculous. She smiled at his comment after he untangled another knot. ”Well you’re just so helpful, Cameron.” She rolled her eyes but she was smirking as she did so. ”A little deep conditioner? Try like an entire bottle. Or ten.” Alright, so maybe she was exaggerating a little, but it would still take a long time for everything to work itself out. If only she could get her mother’s blessing again. But no. This mess would have to be worked out on her own. Well the cabin would just have to pool their resources for this crisis. And Julia wasn’t above stealing her siblings’ hair products if it came down to it. Or she’d get a child of Hermes to nab her some. Julia just stuck her tongue out at his comment about not being in the mood of a therapist, reverting back to acting like a child. She followed his gaze to a picture frame on the table beside his bed, looking away when she saw what it was. She didn’t know too much about that relationship, but Cam didn’t seem to like to talk about it so she never wanted to push it. ”I have every intention of doing that, Cam. Don’t you worry your pretty little head over it.””I’m glad you understand the significance of it. Most people around here just think I use it to get my way with other campers.” Which, admittedly, she did from time to time. But it could be a real life saver on a quest. It could get them into hotels, it could get them transportation or information… Basically anything and everything as long as the person didn’t realize what she was doing. ”Oh, who else did you invite?” Maybe on the way they could do some shopping… Another girl would be fun to have around, even if her brother was fashionable. ”I’ll make sure she doesn’t kill you. And I’m not that much of your little sister! I’m only like two years younger than you!” She protested, putting on a fake pout. Semi ASAP… That could be good. Or it could be really bad. She didn’t want Phobos to show up in the middle of this quest and mess everything up more than he already had. But surely he would want to know her answer and there would definitely be a reaction from the god. ”That sounds good. I’ll get to untangling my hair and packing right away then.” And she would have to see Joel at some point… [/blockquote]

"Hey, hey, hey, sis. I don't approve of you throwing your shoe at our siblings." Cameron tsked at Julia, making the appropriate gesture that normally accompanied a 'tsk-tsk'. "I mean..You could damage the shoe." He pointed out as a smirk crept onto his face. He wasn't always going to defend his siblings, especially not when the person talking bad about them was one of them. He mostly just defended them when he felt they were being wrongfully harrassed or insulted. Or if it was Julia, he would always stick up for her even if she was in the wrong. Being his favorite sibling came with certain perks. But then again, it also came with him being way too protective when it came to whoever she was dating.
"I try," He chuckled, ignoring the way she rolled her eyes at his dorkiness. Cam liked to think that his dorkiness was part of what made his personality dazzling. Though, many may have disagreed with that. His other quest-mate specifically included in that group of many. "I give it two, tops." He argued after giving her hair another look over. "Maybe three if you use the Aussie stuff." He lifted a strand of her blonde hair up before letting it drop. Those Aussie bottles were nice and moderately cheap, but they were too small and ran out real fast.
"Eighteen years old, my ass." Cameron snorted, nudging her playfully. She seemed as much like a five year-old as he did. "Oh, I won't," He claimed, positive that when the time came around, she would keep good on that promise. "But for now it's my turn..so I'll just say it one more time.." He trailed off before continuing in a stupid sing-song voice. "My sister's in loooooove." Good thing no one else was in the cabin at the time, or that sentence would've caught the attention of any one of their siblings. And then they would, no doubt, grill Julia with questions about her new boyfriend.
"Don't you? At least a little?" He raised an eyebrow, doubtful that Julia didn't use Charmspeak sometimes around Camp. If he had, he knew he would use if every once in a while when someone was really annoying him. "This...girl." Cameron paused, not really wanting to reveal the details. Julia didn't seem like she'd appreciate going on a quest with one of Ares' kids. "Her name's Natalie..Very....,ahem, nice person. You know, very friendly type of demigod. Reaaaal..people-person." Avoiding eye contact was key now, considering Julia might be the one to kill him first. "Also, she's-a-daughter-of-Ares." He coughed, rushing through that last bit. Maybe if he had talked fast enough, she woudn't even be able to catch onto what he said. If that wasn't the case..then the door was always a fast exit.
"Right, I'll leave you to it, then." He hoisted himself off the floor, brushing off his jeans as he did so. Wandering over to one of his other sisters' dressers, he plucked a bottle of conditioner off it and tossed it on the bed next to Julia. Before leaving, Cameron bent down and gave Julia a one-armed hug. "If you need me... Well I'm sure I'll hear you if you yell loud enough for me. Also, I expect your hair to look better when I get back." He called over his shoulder as he passed through the open cabin door.

Julia couldn’t help but laugh at Cameron’s comment about throwing shoes at their siblings. But he was right, damaging a shoe could have disastrous consequences. It wasn’t as though Julia didn’t like her siblings. Far from that, actually. She loved her siblings. But she definitely wouldn’t have hesitated to throw something at them if she had encountered one of them and not Cam. ”Well I wouldn’t want to damage a shoe.” She smirked, glad that her mood was starting to improve in earnest. ”It really doesn’t look like you have to try, Cam. You’re just a dork by nature.” She teased, smiling at him. And it looked like things were looking up for her hair too. Two or three bottles of conditioner? Things weren’t too bad if that was all it would take. ”Well then things are definitely taking a turn for the better. Maybe I won’t have to use all of the hair products in the entire cabin.” ”Yes, eighteen years old. Just as much as you’re twenty.” She said, nudging him right back. She groaned when he went back to teasing her about being in love, but she honestly didn’t mind it from Cam. Better him than most of their siblings; they tended to be ignorant about the point where they should drop things but Cam seemed to understand where that line was and Julia was quite thankful for that. Any of the other siblings would be asking questions about Joel, no doubt leading to tears again. Or a shoe thrown at her sibling’s face. Julia bit her lip slightly when Cameron asked whether she used Charmspeak around Camp. ”Well, I mean yeah… But not for anything bad, you know? Like, I’ve used it to get people to carry things for me or to help me with small stuff… Nothing like using it to make people hate each other or anything.” Wow, she was just making herself seem worse and worse by the minute. But at least Cam moved on to a different topic. It wasn’t that Julia didn’t like talking about her abilities, but it would probably be better to do that at a different time. A time when she wasn’t already emotionally frazzled. As soon as her brother said the name Julia was running through any Natalies she knew around Camp. Friendly? A people-person? That sounded good. Definitely someone she wanted to be on a quest with. ”A child of Ares?” She asked, her eyes snapping to her brother who seemed to have taken a vested interest in looking anywhere but at her. Julia and the Ares cabin hadn’t really ever gotten along well. She really didn’t see what her mother saw in him. They were all just a bunch of meat heads who really needed a good therapy session. Before she could question him more about it, Cam was up and running. Or at least that was what Julia saw it as. She was still sitting on the ground with her mouth slightly agape, wondering what in the world had possessed her brother to invite a daughter of Ares on this quest, when he gave her another hug and headed off. This couldn’t be good. She had half a mind to take off after him and try to convince him to un-invite this Natalie person… But there were more pressing matters to attend to. She didn’t need anyone else asking questions, and her current appearance would raise too many of those to be comfortable. She let out a sigh, pulling herself off of the floor and gathering the things she needed for the shower before heading into the bathroom. Hopefully this would all work out.[/blockquote]
