As Cyrene drove, she seen a sign that said CHICAGO 8 mi., looking at the sign as they drove by. She sighed and saying thank god in her mind, she rolled her eyes and took a drink of the two liter that was next to her. As they drove, she seen a Best Western hotel and a nice comfy bed was calling her name, well she wouldn’t say comfy, it was a Best Western, not the Hilton. As she pulled into the parking lot, Cyrene looked in the back seat Alrighty, before you two start yelling at me saying we’re not old enough to get a motel, yes I know. Just stay here and let me work my charm. she said taking her sunglasses off and looking in the mirror. Eesh, she looked a little bad, her eyes were still a bit red, and her nose was stuffed. Shrugging her shoulders, she got out of the car and headed for the lobby.
As Cyrene walked in, thanking the gods, it was a guy. And just not any guy, he was a teenager that looked about 16 years old, and he was dorky. Just the kind of guys that can get persuaded very easily. The guy took one look at her, and didn’t glance away, his beady brown eyes kept staring at her. Why good evening there, you look so ravishing at this time of day. she said winking at him and smiling flirty. The guy smiled and his voice went several octaves higher, Um why thank you. Can I help you with anything? he said trying to calm his voice down. The guy had orange hair with freckles, brown eyes, and a lanky look to him, Cyrene just hoped that he was going to fall for her trick. Why yes….Marv, I need a room for the night, you see I’m very exhausted and I just want to go to bed. she said laying on his desk and then touching his hand stroking it. Cyrene hated touching this guy’s hand, it felt a little gross, but she couldn’t show it on her face. Marv swallowed hard and nodded, Uh…..yeah sure. Of course. What’s your name? he said eyeing her. Cyrene got up and smiled, My name is Aphrodite, and you can be my Ares. she said smirking and bating her eyelashes. Marv’s face turned bright red and he chuckled, Sure ma’m your like what….20 or something. I’m only like …..16. he said looking down. Hook, line, and sinker. Cyrene smiled and nodded, Oh yeah 16? I thought you were my age, I’m sorry. Well here’s cash to pay for the hotel, oh and my real name is Khali, not Aphrodite. she said smiling at the guy giving him the cash and her ‘name’. He smiled, took the cash, and started to process her name, Ok Khali, here are two key cards for you and your all set up. Oh and you do look like an Aphrodite to me. he said winking at her. Cyrene just about gagged but kept her composure together, Oh you really are sweet. I’ll just take these and I’ll see you around. she said taking the key cards and walking out of the motel.
Cyrene got back to the car, tossed the one key card at them, and popped the trunk. Ok, our room is 141 and yes I only got one, and I call the shower first. I don’t care if you guys get wierded out by opposite gender body parts, it’s just a towel covered body. saying what came to her mind and saying it emotionless. She didn’t know what she really said, it sounded better in her head than it came out of her mouth. Well….you know what I’m saying. We all know Adonia is guy shy and seeing X in a towel would put her in cardiac arrest and the same would go for X with Adonia….just you know…..whatever. she said lost for words. Cyrene took her bag and started walking towards the hotel room feeling extremely tired. Whatever went on back there….she didn’t care.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Finally, they have arrived to Chicago. It was still raining a little bit, but a light sprinkle where you didn’t have to have an umbrella. Cyrene had pulled into a Best Western. It was good cause Adonia was a little tired and wanted some time to relax out of this car and away from the drama. She wondered if she would want to go with Cyrene to help because she wanted to stretch her legs, arms and obviously breathe in the fresh air that had a scent of rain in it. But Cyrene said that she would go in alone. Sighing a silent sigh, Adonia watched Cyrene head into the lobby. She was thinking maybe she should talk to Xavier, but he had certainly brought down Adonia’s mood after saying what he had said to Cyrene.
Adonia turned to Xavier, she looked down at first, going to say something but turned away, facing back out the window. What would she say to him? Would he be mean like to Cyrene? Well, he didn’t say it mean, it had really no emotions which made it worse because to her, it felt that he didn’t care or give any respect to the matter at all. Again, Adonia faced Xavier, this time, having something to say. You know, I never knew you could be so rude. You may have thought that you weren’t being rude, but to me, it came across as rude. You have no respect for Cyrene? Did you even listen to her story? Yes, peer pressure is difficult for some people and they tend to crumble under the pressure, but not everyone can be like you and just push it away. So that’s what hurt me the most, you not respecting someone if even if they are mean to you. Adonia had meant every word. You could tell in her voice Sure, Cyrene was mean to Adonia, but she still had respect for her. This girl has obviously been through a lot and it must be hard to be perfect all the time. Being an Aphrodite kid must be obviously tough. For the remainder of the ride, Xavier stayed quiet. He went into a mode of higher thinking and relaxation to relieve the tension. He knew that the tension was restricting his muscle recovery. Athena taught him many lessons about higher order thinking and recovery was certainly something they had been over time and time again. Most of the war strategy she gave to inferior armies was about recovery. Alexander himself was not always on the side of the stronger fighting force, but managed to recover quickly and efficiently enough to continue on.
The light rain against the window was rhythmic enough to aide in Xavier’s mental soothing. His shoulder was healing fast now that he focused blood pressure and hydrogenised ions that controlled the fluid levels around his joints and tendons. He didn’t have healing powers like Adonia for other people, but for himself, he could do it to a very tiny degree. He felt much better now, entering a state of euphoria as he reclaimed control over his mind. The last verbal exchange with Cyrene had washed over him, but he certainly wouldn’t forget it.
His eyes were closed now, he was saving his REM sleep for later in the evening, but he was in between awareness and sleep on its lightest level. He felt the car coming to a stop; he relaxed his body and focused his senses. He heard Cyrene request they let her use her charm to get them a motel. He did not have an issue with this. He was glad she was professional enough to continue working towards the quest’s mission and not just quit because they argued. He opened one eye to look out the window and see the hotel, not too bad he thought.
When Adonia looked at him and spoke, he turned his head back and faced forward hearing her out. He put her words in an immediate file close to his heart. He felt that her words were important and cared deeply with she had to say. He reviewed each word, sentence, and phrase over and over quicker than a blender mixes water and sugar. The word rude was used three times, rhetorical questions she knew the answers to were used two times, the word hurt was used once. “I never want to hurt you,” he said.
He was going to be careful with his words. He would not lie to her. He would not apologize either though. He did not feel he did anything wrong. He was quiet. He was keeping his negativity to himself. She threw the necklace and she raised her voice at him. Now he was being called rude by the girl he cared about. “I’m sorry that you feel that way. We disagree about my way of respecting me, and that is fine. You should know though, I do not allow people to treat me badly without asserting my beliefs about the situation.” His words came out smooth and tranquil, very peaceful.
His brain was starting to make his body feel light. He felt very free when he released these words. He knew it wouldn’t be enough to make her feel better about the situation. He could not find a satisfactory outcome from any of his available alternatives when deciding how to handle this fragile matter. “How do you suppose I should have handled it? Should I have remained quiet? That’s what I did to cause her to spout off at me. Should I have said something other than the truth just to appease her? That’s how the Second World War started.” He wasn’t really hoping for Adonia to give him an answer. He just wanted her to see that he did not have a good option and so he went with the truth.
His eyes met Adonia’s for a brief second before his mental clock knew that if Cyrene didn’t return with a hotel key soon, she would not be returning at all. He looked back because the rain clouded his ability to sense her presence and sure enough she was coming back to the car. With his right elbow he lowered his window for her. A card key was tossed in. He suppressed the urge to grab it because he couldn’t move his left arm too much yet. It sailed past him and landed next to Adonia. She seemed to stumble over her thoughts, but he understood what she meant.
As she walked around, he opened the car door with his right hand and left the key for Adonia to grab. He looked at Cyrene and in a very pointed voice told her, “One room is fine, good work.” He gave her a nod, almost military-esque. He knew too well what happens when soldiers turn against each other. He also knew what happened when they fought because they had to and not because they cared about each other. He lost his respect for Cyrene, but for the sake of his quest, he was going to have to be on semi-better terms with her to get things back in action.
As Adonia came around and met him at the trunk to get their bags, he called out to Cyrene. “We’re going out for dinner tonight, no more unhealthy food.” He turned back to Adonia and told her, “I’ve been waiting a while to go to dinner with you. I’d like it if you would consider me your date tonight. Would that be alright?” He looked at her and then looked down at the ground. He was being assertive about their plans, but using the word date really shook him up.
He turned away for a second and looked back at her. “You don’t have to think of me as your date if you don’t want, I just liked the idea of it,” he said quieter than the rest of his words. He didn’t want to wait for the answer which he thought was going to be no. He was pretty sure, but he didn’t really know. She usually liked him, but she was really mad at him. He wanted to make it up to her, but he didn’t know if he should have been more sensitive to time. Damn, this dating thing was harder than his friends back at camp made it sound!

Cyrene heard X say that they were going out to dinner, and what he meant by they was Adonia and himself. She shrugged and looked at him, Like I care? Don’t need to tell me where your going, I don’t look like your mother. Anyways, I’ll just go do something by myself, but like you need to know what though. she said to him. Cyrene was not in the best moods and she felt so…so….sad, she’s never felt this kind of sad, like rejection sad. But she didn’t want it to show on her face, so she put on her irritation face and just about gagged when she heard X talk to Adonia, Well duh of course she’d say a date, I think your analyzing too many things and not analyzing the feelings she has for you. Dork. she said rolling her eyes and kept walking towards the room.
Sliding the card into the slot, the door opened and Cyrene put her stuff on the bed that was closest to the bathroom. Without hesitation, she walked into the bathroom with her change of clean clothes and shut the door. Cyrene took a shower and let the feelings of what just happened run down the drain with the water, she wasn’t going to let a loser like Xavier ruin her night. Plus for once since this quest started, she’s going to have the night for herself, so she thought of the perfect place to take her mind off of them.
Once Cyrene put her clean clothes on, she looked at herself in the mirror, she had on a pair of cute daisy duke shorts and a turquoise shirt that accented her blue-green eyes. Of course she had no make up on yet and her hair was still a little wet, but her curls looked flawless, she was feeling a little bit better already. She walked out carrying her dirty clothes and shoved them back into her bag, sat on the bed, pulled out her makeup and started working on her face. Cyrene loved experimenting her make up and trying something new, so Cyrene darkened her top and bottom of her eyes with black liner, put on a purple eye shadow to make her eyes stand out again, and put on plenty of mascara. One thing Cyrene always liked to do was make her eyes stand out more than other pairs of eyes, because one thing guys look at you first is of course your eyes. So you always had to make them look splendid for them.
Once Cyrene was done doing her make up, she sat on the bed having her legs crossed Indian style watching tv waiting for the duo to leave.

Adonia knew Xavier didn’t mean to hurt her. It was just that she didn’t want to see people fighting and try to be at least nice. This quest was already stressful as it is. If they could at least not be mad at each other, then it would be nice. Sure, they can have a couple of times where Cyrene could make fun of it and then have it blown away, but no, not this time. It seemed like they both meant what they said and Adonia didn’t want them to be mad at each other cause they are a team now.
Looking at Xavier, Adonia listened to what he had to say about how he doesn’t let people disrespect them. Nodding her head, Adonia understood. It was good for Xavier to stand up for himself. She knew that Cyrene was crying cause Xavier hurt her and didn’t understand the situation, but also it was good for someone to actually put her in her place. Either way, it was both sad. Adonia didn’t know what to say at the time, so she kept her mouth shut, listening to Xavier more as he talked. He kept quiet cause for some reason, it seemed he had been mad and Cyrene maybe detected it. But either way again, it was bad for both. Sure, Xavier didn’t get the kill, but there are going to be other plenty of monsters for Xavier to kill. Hopefully Adonia wouldn’t have to kill none of them.
Adonia gave Xavier a small smile, I’m sorry. She was, she had felt bad to what she had said to him and he was right, he had to stick up for himself. Hearing footsteps, Adonia turned and looked out of the window, Cyrene was coming back. Having the card thrown to Adonia had hearing that it was only one room, she nodded. She had watched Xavier head out of the car, and Adonia sighed. She was definitely tired and would like some rest. Grabbing the card, she had followed Xavier out into the cloudy, cool weather.
Meeting Xavier at the trunk, Adonia saw her bag sitting in the trunk. She grabbed it and heard Xavier saying no more unhealthy foods. Yes, the pizza was unhealthy, but hey, it has your dairy, bread, protein and the veggies. But the oil, yes, unhealthy, but they need their strength and eating unhealthy is one way to not stay in shape and in the game. What got her to look surprised was when Xavier to consider her as his date. That was exciting. No, that’s ok. I would love to have you as my date. Thank you. Smiling now from ear to ear, the fight and him hurting her seemed to now vanish, like it never happened.
Come on, it looks like it may rain again. Adonia told Xavier as she looked up into the sky. The clouds were now coming in from the west and they did not look good. They were a little bit of a dark grey, meaning rain. Grabbing her bag and then Xavier grabbing his, they made their way to the room. The door was open some since Cyrene went in first. Now there was only two beds… and three of them, which meant that Cyrene and Adonia would have to bunk up together. Adonia wouldn’t have a problem with it, but she didn’t know how Cyrene would feel about that. Setting her stuff next to the bed, Adonia looked around the room. It was a nice little clean room. The bed was comfy when she jumped and sat on it. That was Adonia’s favorite part, it always made her laugh. Whenever her mother and Adonia went on vacation and got a hotel room, they would both at the same time run and jump on the bed to sit on it, then they would both laugh together. That memory made Adonia miss her mother more. When they get back to camp, Adonia would write to her.
Once seeing Cyrene coming out of the shower, she was wearing this cute little outfit. Adonia’s jaw dropped, she looked good. Quickly picking up her jaw so Xavier and Cyrene wouldn’t see. It always seemed to surprise Adonia how good Cyrene looks even without the makeup on. Makeup seemed like it was an accessory to Cyrene. If she wanted to, Cyrene could just walk around without the makeup on and still charm they guys. Adonia was of course jealous, she couldn’t look that good without any one. But Cyrene’s eyes were really popping out, the color. Doing a mental shake to stop staring, Adonia spoke, So it looks like you and I are sharing a bed, Cyrene. I hope you are a cover hog. Adonia said with a little smile, hoping it would make Cyrene smile. [/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAGS: Xrene WORD COUNT: 831 NOTES: Yeppers…. ]As Cyrene finished her make up, she remembered the look Adonia gave her when she walked out, the look of OMG. Cyrene knew that look well when other girls gawked at her, but from Adonia, it was something different, more…knowing maybe? A little jealous, sure why not? But that didn’t bother her much; she was still a bit upset about what happened on the drive over here. It took a while for Cyrene to calm down, she’ll admit it, she did have a huge temper, and when she gets mad she’ll need time to let it go.
Cyrene looked at Adonia as she said they were sharing a bed and hoped she wasn’t a cover hog. For the first time at what felt like a long time, she laughed. I don’t know about a cover hog, but I’m one heck of a bed hog and a huge cuddler. So in the middle of the night you feel someone hug up on you, don’t worry it’s just me. Well just hit me if I start kissin up on you. she said winking at Adonia. She was totally kidding about the whole kissing thing, she didn’t do that, she just wanted to joke around with her a little. Sunshine girl was good; she could make anyone feel better when she wasn’t even trying, so Cyrene guessed that her nickname Sunshine Girl had two different meanings.
Shaking her head and smiling she looked at her, So what are you doin with woman hater Xavier tonight? she said shrugging and scooting a little closer to Adonia. Cyrene was curious, maybe she could do her make up again but tone it down more than last time with it. Don’t get Cyrene wrong, she thinks Adonia is a very pretty girl for not being a child of Aphrodite; she just needed work on how to make herself even more beautiful.
Getting up, she walked over towards the liter of soda that she brought into the hotel with her, she took a few big gulps out of it and belched very loudly. Laughing, she excused herself and looked at Adonia. Did you know that before I became who I was, like very popular and very beautiful, I used to be the best belcher out of my friends? We’d each buy a liter of soda, sit in a circle, and chug the soda and burp till our stomach were sour. she said laughing playfully remembering the good times before she turned the age of sixteen. That’s when everything went downhill in her life, at least downhill for her, not to everyone else. Cyrene was so surprised at herself at how much she was opening up towards Adonia, they weren’t friends or anything, she was just easy talking to.

An eyebrow rose at Cyrene’s reaction to his expressing that they would be going to dinner. Obviously she had a different idea of “we” than she did, but she was certainly included. She walked away before he could really tell her, but he figured he would tell her before they left anyways. He could understand why she didn’t think he’d invite her, but maybe it would do well to heal some of the scars he undoubtedly left on her by being so harsh.
Having watched her leave, he could offer his full undivided attention to Adonia. He was really nervous as to what she might say; especially after he was an idiot and tried to cover his bases by saying it was alright that she didn’t want to be his date. This was a lie anyways. He would have been devastated if she rejected him and kind of undid the little they had already done to develop their relationship at its early friendship stages.
When the first words he heard from her were “No, it’s ok” he all but had a heart attack. His super powered brain processed the words so fast that before the next word even came out, he was already trying to cope. As the emotional shock of rejection set in, the rest of her sentence came into the fold. Now his smile was as wide as hers. It certainly not as bright though. Her smile was so infectious, the exact face that she made the first time they met when he began to like her in the first place.
He wanted to tell her that, but he couldn’t find the words. He hoped that his smile would suffice because he felt like a loser just smiling like that. Thankfully the rain bailed him out as she redirected the conversation. “Yeah,” he said as he grabbed his bag and followed her to the room that had the door partly open, which worried him.
As they walked into the room, he tossed his bag over onto the bed, noticing the layout and emergency escape routes in fear of the worst possible scenario. He noted the shower was running, which eased his mind that picked up the fact that Cyrene was missing at the moment. He took a second to take out the one pair of nice clothes that he brought to wear in Las Vegas in the event they were at an upscale place. He put it on a hanger in the small closet and took out a towel to take the next shower. He was in need of one to clear his mind.
He was on his way to making things better, but he knew he didn’t fully recollect the group in the way he wanted to. As Cyrene came out of the shower, he took his shirt off and slipped right by her, nodding to her in acknowledgement only. He wanted to tell her about the dinner, but she may have needed more time to call off herself. Since she had just gotten out, the shower did not take long to warm up again. He slipped in and let the hot water wash away his negativity and thought clearly.
While he showered, he didn’t know if the girls would talk or not, or even what they would talk about if they did. He hoped they would though. Adonia was really good at making people feel better so hopefully it would work for Cyrene. This would help a little when he invited her out to dinner with them as well. He would have to wait to find out though, for now, his mind was on another plane, trapped in the prescient, searching for the future.

Adonia laughed really hard on what Cyrene had said to her, she also shook her head. She could not believe she had said to her. Getting ready to open her mouth, she had seen Xavier take off his shirt and walk towards the bathroom. Adonia looked down, hoping that her face hadn’t turned red. Yes, she does get a little shy when a guy doesn’t have their shirt on, yes, it also may seem weird, but that’s how she was. Hearing the door close, Adonia looked back up and took a deep breath, looking at Cyrene. She had a look of like what’s-wrong-with-you look. Adonia chuckled a little, Don’t say a word. I know how you are. I just get weird when guys have their shirt off is all. Xavier did have one nice body, but she wasn’t going to dare say anything to Cyrene because she has a big mouth and would tell Xavier then Adonia would get very embarrassed.
Dropping her jaw with a little laughter into it when Cyrene called Xavier a women hater, One, he is not a women hater, that’s just mean. It was mean to laugh, but how Cyrene said it was what made Adonia laugh a little, Second, no idea. He didn’t say anything about it. Only that we cannot eat unhealthy no more on this trip. Adonia kicked her legs up and down, looking at the ground. She was thinking where they were going, but she was also wondering if Cyrene was invited. Even if she was, Adonia would still count as Xavier his date. She didn’t know what to wear; she didn’t pack things to go on a date. Only jeans, shorts and some nice shirts. Maybe Cyrene had something for her to wear, if she asked nicely.
Adonia looked up and was going to ask Cyrene if she had some clothes she could barrow, but her belching had made Adonia, once again, burst out into laughter with Cyrene. This girl sure does surprise Adonia a lot. First, she was being nice to Adonia, then helping her with some makeup and now she was belching. Is that how a daughter of Aphrodite should act? No idea. Are you serious? You would be the last person I have ever thought that would not be belching like that. Seeing that you are very high maintained and all. I have never really belched much. My mom has always told me that it was rude. Adonia just kept smiling. It was so much fun to be around Cyrene at the moment. As the days go on, Adonia had been getting closer to Cyrene, as a friend, which was actually pleasant. She was hoping maybe Xavier would start to warm up to her sooner or later.
Getting up from the bed, Adonia went over and took a drink of the soda, but didn’t belch. Looking around, then looking at Cyrene, she asked her, Do you have any extra clothes I could barrow for tonight? I don’t think anything I have is really appropriate if Xavier asked me to be his date. She asked her biting her lip. Nervous of Cyrene saying no, but also what if the clothes didn’t fit her, what would she do? Well, she would have to wear her clothes that Adonia brought with her.

Once Cyrene seen Xavier take off her shirt, she shout her eyes straight towards Adonia. She had her head down, trying to hide her embarrassment towards X, that made Cyrene smirk towards it and almost burst out laughing. Once he was in the bathroom, Adonia told her not to say a word. Cyrene just wiggled her perfectly plucked eyebrows up and down, Oh girl you got to get over it! It’s natural, they all do it, plus with a body like his, you definitely need to get over it. Did you see how ripped he was? If he wasn’t such a nerd, I’d date him. But that would be in an alternate universe. she said tossing back her blonde hair and smiling.
Once she said the comment about him not being a woman hater, Cyrene snorted and shook her head, Oh sorry, let me rephrase myself, a hater of all woman but Adonia. she said sarcastically with a devilish smirk on her face. It was so much fun poking fun at Xavier, right now he was the perfect target to shoot down while she was calming down. Cyrene’s jaw about dropped to the floor when Adonia said that there was not suppose to be no more junk food for the rest of the trip. Are you kidding me?! First he yells at me, and now he’s saying no more junk food. This body feeds off junk food! she said smoothing down her body with her hands till she got her hips. I like to see him try to get me off junk food. I’ll eat something here and there healthy, but a girl’s gotta have her chocolate sometime! she told to Adonia.
Cyrene laughed again as she heard Adonia laugh at her belch, it made her feel better that she could at least make someone laugh once in a while, Yeah I’m serious. It was a lot of fun when you get about ten people in a circle, then of course belching like me, and then seeing nine other people bursting out laughing and soda running out of their noses. she said nodding and smiling at the memory. Her friends tried to belch like Cyrene but always failed, they quit being friends before she knew it because of high school drama. She waved her hand at the thought of high maintained, Of course I’m high maintained, on the outside, my looks. But when I’m on my downtime and not impressing the outside world, I’m a totally different person, someone that likes to have fun and get down in dirty some of the time. she said smiling smugly. It was true what she was saying, yes, Cyrene was very mean at times, and yes, she did mean all the stuff that she had said. But she was used to being mean, it was the only thing she knew how to be in public, she just put up a big shield and tried not to let the public wear her down like before. Cyrene didn’t want to dig into high school memories, so she shook her head and looked up at Adonia.
She was wondering if Cyrene had an extra outfit that she could borrow to go out with tonight. She smirked and looked at Adonia, Oh I got the perfect outfit for you. I snuck extra outfits into this journey, you could never have extra clothes. she said whispering to Adonia. Before the quest started, Cyrene had received a gift from her mother, Aphrodite, it was a designer backpack and it held a large amount of things even though it looked like it shouldn’t. Maybe it was a sign from Aphrodite that she was going on this quest, that she liked to think it. Cyrene started to pull clothes after clothes out of the designer bag, Ah here we go, this is perfect. You look about my size anyways, but if you get this dirty, I will have to kill you with my arrows. she said smirking and then laughing. Once she found the dress she looked at Adonia and back at the dress before she pulled it out, after thinking it would be a good match for her she pulled out the dress. It was a short black and white dress, that was a bit puffy at the dress part, but it was Cyrene’s favorite dress, I was going to wear this little number once we got to Vegas, but it looks like I got about five more dresses in there. she said jerking her head towards her modern style Mary Poppins bag.

A tinge o f weakness crawled over Xavier’s wet skin, creeping over his body and paralyzing his light ability to extend his vision past the prescience. The weakness stopping him now was a weak thought that he hadn’t expected himself to have. In fact, it may have brought him closer to Cyrene without even being next to her. As the water steamed and fogged the mirrors, Xavier just hung his head and let the stream roll down his back. He was considering taking a bad line of choices and using “personality” as an excuse. In his exponentially complex calculations of what was possible, all of the best outcomes started with him letting his guard down and making good with Cyrene. The decision was simple then, but he couldn’t get over his anger enough to think about actually doing it. This type of subjectivity was the same thing he’d just scolded her for. What a hypocrite he was. With a quick adjustment, he made the water even hotter. With the increase in temperature, he tried to hyper focus on his blood circulation, thinning it to handle the heat. Temperature control could prove useful later. A mental tug of war was taking place, choosing what is right and what is easy. In a sudden movement fit for a cheap horror film, his eyes snapped open. His hand adjusted the water back to a reasonable temperature and he let his blood flow normally again. Suddenly he was very aware of the consequences of each of his behaviors he was going to choose from soon. More than that, his senses heightened to the point that he could feel water molecules splitting, just as he felt his immaturity splitting from this decision. He wiped off some of the water and dried his hair pretty well before wrapping the towel around his waist. His blue towel went down to his knees and he remembered that he didn’t have the presence of mind to take the clothes into the restroom with him. Thankfully the rest of the hotel had carpet because the ground was cold under his wet feet. He opened the door and the steam rolled out invisibly into the living room, along with his inhibition about the predicament. He surveyed the living room only briefly, noticing that Cyrene was holding up a dress to Adonia. Attire for the evening? That was worrisome considering he only brought one set of clothes that were “nice” and he planned on wearing them in Vegas. Oh well, he wasn’t going to look like a bum on his date if Adonia was wearing that. As water beads trickled down the crevices of his abs and chest, he smirked to Cyrene. “Pick one out for yourself too; we’re not leaving you behind. Argument or not, we’re still a team.” He turned and walked into the separated bedroom and sought out his clothes. Thankfully the hotel provided an iron. This place wasn’t exactly a five start spot, but it had a few amenities. In his towel he quickly pressed out his clothes, a skill his father taught him at the age of five. You can tell a lot about a man with how he dresses, he always used to say. It wasn’t about the clothes so much as it was the effort taken to be a presentable man. He gently pulled on his shirt and tucked it in to his pants, adjusting his tie without the need of a mirror. outfit hereHaving slipped on his shoes, he was ready to come out. He smiled at Adonia for a moment and took his a seat at their small table. He was nervous about the thought of a date, but luckily he’d finally settled on a restaurant fit for the occasion. He just hoped that he could get along with Cyrene long enough not to ruin the night. He was going to be on his best behavior, but then he combined that with the fact that this was his first date ever, and the nerves came back to him. Relief is what Adonia had felt right now when Cyrene had said that she had an extra outfit for her, especially a perfect one. Adonia was a little scared that maybe the dress Cyrene had would be a little, you know, too short. From what she had seen Cyrene wear around camp, basically daisy dukes and shorty shorts, the dress may be a little… how do you call it… revealing. Giving out a nervous laugh, Adonia was waiting for Cyrene to pull out the dress. What if it was something really ugly? What if it was in the yellow or orange? Adonia didn’t want to go out and have people think she looked like a traffic cone or a banana… those two colors she hated. But when Cyrene pulled out the dress, Adonia had dropped her jaw, It’s beautiful. She said as she held her hand out to get a better look at it. The strapless dress was white, with a black belt going all the way around right under the breast line. Then the pattern was going was starting a little bit about the belt, and then fanning out to the bottom around the dress in a floral design. It seemed a little short, but Adonia didn’t care because it was stunning. I would dare getting this dress dirty. I shall be extra careful with it, I promise. She said with a small giggle and a smile.
Adonia needed to take a shower also, getting ready to go and knock on the door to tell Xavier to nicely say to hurry, she heard the shower turn off. Good, I didn’t have to tell him to hurry. Adonia said in a smile when she looked at Cyrene. She just went back to the dress and then heard Cyrene saying that she is going to wear a dress for Vegas. Adonia never really thought about dressing nice there. Was Xavier going to dress nice also? Maybe once they get there, Adonia could ask Cyrene for another dress, but she didn’t want to be a bother to her, that’s for sure. Hearing the door open to the bathroom, Adonia turned and saw Xavier, his bare chest was showing and Adonia felt her face get a little hot. Not wanting him to see it, Adonia turned back to the dress and looked down. Smiling a little when she remembered what Cyrene had said earlier about him being ripped and if he wasn’t such a nerd, she’d date him. It was true, Xavier was ripped and it was a good thing Cyrene didn’t go for him otherwise; Adonia would have to go into a battle royal for him. Hearing a door shut, Adonia let out a laugh. Your right, he is ripped, but I can’t seem to get over it just yet. Needs time. Adonia was fine when he was at the lake right before he left, even though she still needs to get him back for pulling her into the lake. Now it is my turn to take a shower, I bet there isn’t any hot water left. She said smiling, taking her extra clothes into the bathroom with her.
Adonia turned on the water. She was right, there was only a little bit of hot water left. Not wasting any time, she hopped right in and showered. She was thinking about the date tonight, but she was also thinking about the quest. Sure, this was downtime for them, but after tonight, they would need to get their heads back into the game and try to figure out where to go next. Also, hopefully on the way down, maybe Adonia can talk to Xavier and Cyrene about getting a weapon. She got lucky back at OSU. Sighing, Adonia actually didn’t know what to get. She was no good in swords or daggers and she was pretty decent with the bow and arrow, but Cyrene was already carrying one of those. Would it help to have two archers in this trio or having two swords people? Adonia didn’t know. All she knew is that once she gets the Bow of Apollo, she would be using that as her main weapon for the rest of her life.
Turning off the water, Adonia took a towel, dried herself off and slipped into a clean tank top with a par of basketball shorts. She always had to wear a different pair of clothing when she was getting ready. Curling her hair will be appropriate she thought, so without thinking of it, she walked out into Cyrene’s “Mary Poppin’s” bag, looked through and saw the curling iron. Pulling it out and also taking the dress, Adonia saw Cyrene giving her a WTF look about the curling iron, Adonia smiled at her. Please and thank you. Seeing Xavier sit at the small table, she smiled back at him then walked back into the bathroom to do her hair. Wow, Xavier looked really nice. Those butterflies were flying into her stomach again… darn things.
After making up her hair and doing her make-up, Adonia had slipped on the dress. Cyrene was right, it was perfect for her. It accentuated her curves in her body, hugged around her high waist and with her hair curled, it seemed perfect. Smiling to herself, Adonia was a little scared to even head out into the room because Xavier was in there. Just go. She heard her inner voice tell you. Breathing in and out once, Adonia opened up the door and went out. So, you both ready to go? Adonia asked shyly and playing with her hands and biting her lip, obviously nervous.

When Adonia said that her dress was beautiful, Cyrene chuckled, Of course it is! It’s my dress after all. she said hugging it and then handing it to her. Cyrene loved to dress in dresses, she liked to show off her curvy figure and show off the legs that so many girls wished they had. Yeah and I’m going to hold you to that promise, cause if you do, your paying for the dry cleaners. This is one of my dresses for Vegas. she said winking at Adonia.
Cyrene smiled at her when she said that she didn’t have to wait for Xavier to get out of the shower, and when he stepped out with a towel, she gave him a cat whistle. I never see you work out; you must be one of those burly guys. Too bad you ruin it sometimes with that mouth of yours. she said giving him a mischievous smirk of hers. Cyrene loved to compliment someone and then bring it down with a rude remark, it made conversations better to talk about later when they get mad and throw it in her face. She looked over at Adonia as he walked into the other room, Yes he is, but I’ve seen muscular guys. she said wagging her eyebrows up and down and then smirking again. Good luck with the hot water in there, I doubt it. she said to Adonia as she watched her go into the bathroom.
As she heard the shower turn on in the bathroom, Cyrene relaxed a bit more and turned on the tv, and she was in luck. One of her favorite shows were on, Vampire Diaries! She was always a suck her vampire stuff; she had read a few books on vampires, but after reading that Twilight Series, that author made her vamps look like sissies. As Cyrene watched, Adonia popped out of the bathroom with a tank top and basketball shorts, again she had a bad choice of clothes. She needed like a pair of nice, short, cotton shorts, but Cyrene figured she’d keep her mouth shut this time. She watched Adonia walk over to her bag and started to search through it, wow this girl had guts, seriously. Giving her a WTF look she said ‘please and thank you’, Yeah, please and thank you for now, I’ll let you get off with this chance, but next time you do that, you’ll have a curling iron imprint on your face. she said eyeing Adonia harshly. Cyrene was just kidding about the curling iron imprint on her face, but Adonia didn’t need to know that.
Cyrene watched as Adonia came out wearing her dress and looking done. She had to give the girl a little credit, she did look really cute, for a Sunshine Girl. But that dress still looked better on Cyrene, if she had to say so herself, plus her make-up could have looked better. You look very cute, but I say I fill out that dress better. she said winking at Adonia and smiling. She looked over to Xavier, he did look pretty good himself, but his comment made her head shake, Oh no, I’m so not going to play third wheel and watch you two love birds getting all lovey dovey on me. I don’t want to spew up my dinner. You two go, I have my own plans in mind. she said grinning slyly and looking down at her attire.

Adonia smiled at Cyrene and rolled her eyes. It was so like Cyrene to give a compliment to someone but then she had to back it up with that she looked better. This girl was starting to grow on Adonia because with that remark, Adonia would have gotten pretty mad and then say something that would have embarrassed herself and then her face would turn red. She hated that when it happened, but oh well, that’s how she was. Maybe after this quest they could be good friends. Turning to the mirror and looking at herself again, she did look good.
Hearing that Cyrene didn’t want to go, Adonia turned around and looked at her, Are you serious? You have to come. It would be great fun! She smiled at Cyrene, but she knew that wouldn’t really work. Suddenly, she caught Xavier out of the corner of her eye getting up. He said something about that he needed to go. Adonia gave him a very weird look but also behind those worried eyes was heartbreak. This was their night that they were going out for dinner and him bailing like this made Adonia feel… what is it… rejection? Yes, rejection. Looking at the ground, sighing then looking back at Xavier, Adonia nodded, Well… ok… But be back by tomorrow cause we are leaving then. Xavier nodded his head and then he left the room, but in the nod, Adonia could tell that he wasn’t really going to come back the next day. He was sure hiding something.
Flopping on the bed, Adonia took another big sigh. Well Cyrene, it looks like its going to be just you and me for a while huh? Adonia then turned onto her side, propped her head in her hand and was looking at her. Tomorrow, we are going to be heading to I think Colorado… or was it Texas as our next destination? Adonia thought for a moment. She couldn’t remember what Xavier had said earlier. This was why they needed him cause he was so wise. Crap, I cant remember. Shaking her head and then rubbing it, Adonia was starting to get stressed about the whole thing. Now there was only two of them on this quest alone full with America full of monsters to face ahead. Cyrene waved her hand and smiled, Like I really want to go on some stupid night out with the lovebirds. Come on, I may be the daughter of Aphrodite and be like ‘oh I love love’ but no I don’t, two people together is just nauseating. she said smiling and then looking out the window. She wanted to go out on her own and have some real fun, and not to see the two go all gushy on her and stuff, she just wanted to be by herself. She was used to being by herself, that was normal for her, like being by herself at her big mansion when her dad wasn’t home, being by herself when she went surfing at sunset, and especially when Adonis died. Yes, alone fit her well and she didn’t need them. Watching as Xavier got up and left, that was very suspicious of him to leave like he did, her eyes darted straight to Adonia, the look on her face was sad. It made Cyrene want to go and beat up Xavier for leaving them like this, was it because of the dumb monster, he really needs to let it go, but they’ll never know why he got up and left.
Watching Adonia flop on the bed made her side go up and then back down, Well your lucky your not that fat, or you would’ve sent me straight off the bed you know? But you were darn close to it. she said eying Adonia. Oh joy for that…..well now I can walk around in my towel and not care what I do since he was here. Well if I did care in the first place. she said smirking to the sunshine girl. Cyrene felt a little bad that Adonia couldn’t remember where their next destination was, dumb Xavier took that damn iPad with him and now they were stuck, but she couldn’t let her expression give away that she felt bad. Well you know what? I say we make our destinations from now on. We can go anywhere until we land to Vegas, I didn’t travel with you two and have this happen, your in charge now with the navigation. I mean yeah it totally sucks that we left, but we’re girls dammit, we’re strong and independent. she said pounding her fist to her hand. Cyrene smirked knowing that she was ranting one of her speeches that she was used to doing in class and get away with it because she loved to charmspeak them.
Getting up, Cyrene smoothed out her clothes on her body and walked into the bathroom and checked her hair and make up, looking like they needed to be touched up she thought on what he make up looked like and it magically appeared on her face. Then she looked at her hair, it did look flawless when perfect natural curls, but she wanted to make it longer, she could feel it go down to the middle of her back. Smiling, she then leaned in close to mirror and changed her eyes to a deep green that it looked like a forest of trees, well then she mixed a little blue to stand out more. Cyrene then walked out and twirled in front of Adonia, So where are we goin tonight my chunky darling. she smirked to Adonia referencing to her flopping on the bed. Cyrene loved to make fun of her, but as she noticed it wasn’t affecting her as much as it did in the beginning, but now that gave her the benefit more chances to make fun of her.

Adonia smiled at Cyrene at the joke about her being fat. She was certainly not fat at all, she was thin but Adonia thought it was Cyrene’s way of making her smile, which did help indeed. It was easy to make her smile at some times, but right now, she wasn’t in a smiling mood.
Nodding her head, Adonia agreed that they should make their own destinations. Adonia was the leader and it was about time that she acted like one and not someone who rode in the back of the bus, she had to be the one driving. Getting up from her bed, Adonia searched for a map. In most hotels, they should have a map of the country. She remembers when her mother and Adonia went to Chicago to visit her grandparents, they stayed at a hotel and there was a map in it. It has to be somewhere around here. Then finally after looking in the drawer of the nightstand, there was a map sitting there. Bingo! [/color] As she was flipping through the map, she had noticed that Cyrene had gotten up and went to the bathroom. Shrugging, Adonia was studying the map, she didn’t really know how to read them, wishing now that her mother would have taught her. Adonia needed something to pin point the areas, thinking, she would have to use coins. Reaching for her purse, she took out several pennies, placing one right on Chicago. Looking at it, Adonia started to bite her lip, she was getting nervous cause she didn’t know if they should go north or south or just go straight to the west, but as she was looking at it, something whispered in her mind to go to South Dakota. Confused, Adonia knew that she had to listen to what she was hearing. Maybe it was her dad guiding her since she was looking for the Bow of Apollo. Now thinking about it, Adonia was getting more excited than ever, she would finally be able to prove herself to her dad and have the best bow at camp! Come on, anyone would be excited to have a bow that cant miss a target and have dead on accuracy! Shaking her head, Adonia had to stop thinking about that, she was starting to sound not like herself, more like a cocky punk. Looking up, Adonia had seen that Cyrene came out of the bathroom. She looked different… her hair was longer, more make-up and did her eyes change color? That was pretty neat. I didn’t know you could change your appearance. That’s cool. Smiling a little bit, Adonia looked back down at her map. She reached over, grabbed a pen and circled the map of South Dakota… but where? Closing her eyes, she felt her hand move and circle another spot, its where Mount Rushmore was located. Feeling the flop on the bed and hearing where they are going for the night, Adonia frowned, Cyrene, I know you want to go out, but I’m not in the mood to go out. I’m trying to plan where to go next location where it looks like we are going to Mount Rushmore. Folding up the map, Adonia picked it up and set it by the lamp.
