I am a legend in my own mind+ + +everything I can’t say is irrelevant. Rachel stared out at the water. She sat on the beach her legs drawn up tight to her chest and her head ducked low. In the past month she had sent Annabeth and that Ares kid Ryan on a quest. Along with them went two other campers. At this rate the entire camp would be out in the real world fighting monsters by the middle of summer. She grumbled a few nonsensical curses and sneered at the water. If she sat here perfectly still maybe no one would notice her. She was too risky to be around campers right now.
“Stupid Oracle powers muttering stupid prophecies. Stupid stupid stupid.” Rachel punched the sand causing the particles to fly up and into her face. She blinked away the painful sand and split out what had entered her mouth. She let out a loud groan and flopped backward into the sand.
Her fiery hair spread out through the sand behind her. Rachel didn’t care if she got sand in it or not. She looked skyward flinging her arms out to the side, spread eagle. There was a single cloud in the sky and it hovered above her head. It looked like a lion, or maybe a teapot? Or, a lion disguised as a teapot. Either way it made Rachel want to go to the zoo or have some tea.
She didn’t know how the demi-gods here did it. She was going crazy. Like legitimately cukoo for coco puffs mad. Then again, the last two years she had Percy and Annabeth to pal around with. Now she was stuck at Camp with people she didn’t know, or just didn’t care to talk to. Stupid prophecies.
After the cloud passed out of Rachel’s field of vision she stretched her legs out in the sand and began to move both her arms and legs together. The sand was warm and scratchy, not like snow where it was cold and soft. Still, Rachel thought she had to be the first person at Camp Half-Blood to ever make a sand angel. The slight annoyance and irritation it was causing her skin didn’t stop Rachel from continuing to make the angel better.
She softly began to hum the first song that popped into her head. Was it weird that she was singing a song from The Lion King? It was her favorite movie as a kid. It was official; Rachel had cabin fever and was losing her mind. She blamed the Oracle inside of her. OUTFIT: [/color] H E R E[/center]

Adonia was walking around camp. For once, she got some time to be alone and away from activates and people, so some peace and quiet was very much in order. Adonia had been pretty busy lately with the music and then with healing stuff and also talking to people, getting to know them better, thinking since if she was going to be here for a while, might as well know the people.
Getting attacked by that harpy the other week had left her pretty shaky still and also, Adonia didn’t want to go into the forest without another camper along with her. Personally, someone who knows how to use a sword like Jason or maybe even Xavier, either way, it was still really scary to go in there alone. The forest was no place for someone being alone.
Adonia decided to go down to the beach, maybe looking at the water would help her relax and be at peace with the water… even though the sun is the one that really helps her at peace, but a change wouldn’t hurt. Sorry Apollo. As she walked down to the sand, it was pretty warm on her feet. As she was walking, she felt the sun warm on her skin and it felt really good at the moment.
Adonia walked down the shore more and saw a girl laying in the sand. She knew that she hadn’t met her before. So Adonia put her hair behind her ear and went up to the girl. [maroon]Hey there. May I sit down with you?[/maroon] Adonia asked with a smile on her face. This girl looked really nice and also she seemed a little familiar too.

I am a legend in my own mind+ + +everything I can’t say is irrelevant. Rachel was half way through the chorus when she heard a voice speak up. Her humming stopped and with a slight turn of her head, a girl came into view. Rachel blinked processing what she had been asked. It only took Rachel another second to realize that someone was actually addressing her. Rachel moaned and rolled over on her stomach and covered her head with her arms.
“Not another demi-god! Please go, flee before I seal your fate.” Her voice was muffled slightly. As she spoke Rachel inhaled a few bits of sand causing her to cough and choke. Rachel raised her head a little and cleared her throat. She couldn’t’ help but look back over to the demi-god. She sighed and sat up brushing the hair from her shirt and out of her red hair.
“I know you demi-gods are all battle training this, stab with a sword that but I never took you for suicidal. Wait. Scratch that, I know Percy Jackson.” She smirked a little. Rachel looked kindly up at the girl, she hadn’t recalled seeing her around camp before. Newbie. She tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear and brought her knees up to her chest again.
“Sorry. I’ve been a little on edge lately. I’m Rachel Elizabeth Dare, local Oracle and endless source of terrible and most likely deadly prophecies.” She smiled. “And sure you can sit here if you aren’t afraid that you’ll be the next one. They seem to be walking out of me at this rate. Don’t worry though; I gave out two prophecies in the last month alone. I couldn’t possibly be giving another one anytime soon.”
And like some kind of cruel and unusually joke, Rachel felt her head begin to swim and everything start to go silent around her. Not Ag— was all she thought before completely blacking out. Her head hung on her chest for a moment before it jerked back up. She spoke again her head turned toward Adonia and with a slight change in pitch she recited the prophecy meant for Adonia Theodosia
You will take two and go into the west Battle beast and fear to survive this quest Seek the city where night is as day Seduction of power will lead you astray Keep friends close and enemies near Only one will see you safely here
Rachel shut her eyes and when she opened them again she stared at the demi-god in shock. She swallowed and looked around. "Oh for the love of Apollo!" Rachel grumbled and leaned forward on her knees now with a slight look of boredom on her face.
“Alright. What did I end up saying this time?” OUTFIT: [/color] H E R E[/center]

Just as quick as her smile came on Adonia’s face, it had wiped off cause this girl asked her to leave. Adonia didn’t really want to leave, but if she wanted her to, then she would. But she had said something about fate. That made the wheels in her head turn. [maroon]She must be the oracle![/maroon] Adonia had thought to herself, but she wouldn’t say it out loud cause she would only let this girl tell her.
Hearing what this girl said about the demi-gods being about training for battles and swords and stuff, that made Adonia drop her jaw. [maroon]Hold on. I’m not even like that at all. I’m the type of girl who loves music. I don’t even know how to hold a sword. But I sure do know how to heal.[/maroon] She said with a smile, which she loves to do best. Adonia also plays great music, but she left that out just cause it was kind of irrelevant.
Adonia smiled and listened to what the girl, Rachel, had been saying about the prophecy coming out of her. Adonia sat down and shook her head. [maroon]Oh its ok. I wont think that I will be next. There is nothing really special about me. But my name is Adonia Theodosia, the daughter of Apollo.[/maroon] She said with a smile. It was true, to Adonia, thinking there was nothing special about her. She wasn’t a fighter, a great one like Xavier. She wasn’t smart like Annabeth or even had cool powers like Percy, from what other campers had told her about Percy and Annabeth. All Adonia could do is play regular music and heal, that’s it.
Just as Adonia was going to say something else to Rachel, had her head down. [maroon]Rachel, are yo-…..[/maroon] But when Rachel’s head jerked up, Adonia jumped. The look she was giving her was starting to scare Adonia, it was kind of creepy, but what she had said, that was what scared her mostly. Adonia would have to leave the safe guard of the camp.
In shock, her face showing it for sure, Adonia just remaind there, without saying a work for a minute. Then snapping out of what was kind of like a trance, she looked at Rachel. [maroon]Well…. I think…. I think you gave me a prophecy.[/maroon] It was still playing around in her head, remembering every word. She shook her head, trying to make sense, but none of it did. [maroon]Wha-what should I do? I don’t know what to think of it all.[/maroon]

I am a legend in my own mind+ + +everything I can’t say is irrelevant. Rachel liked Adonia. Short and simple and to the point. The girl was sweet and had a contagious smile. No wonder she was a daughter of Apollo, the girl was walking ball of sunshine. This only made Rachel feel ten times worse about the stupid prophecy she had just given. Adding in the information Adonia had revealed about herself, not even knowing how to hold a sword, made Rachel want to stab herself with one.
With sympathetic eyes she looked at Adonia and heaved a sigh. “Bend over and kiss your butt good-bye?” she suggested half heartedly. Rachel didn’t actually mean that advice of course but it seemed the most logical piece of advice to give her. “No. I guess step one would be learn how to hold a sword. Cause I’m gonna be honest with you, you are going to need to know that. It’ll come in handy while you are out there in the real world. Monsters are gonna come flocking your way and healing will only get you so far. Can’t heal yourself if you’re dead.”
Rachel figured she was probably scaring the poor girl more than needed. She dug her hands into the sand lifting some in her fist only to let it sift through her fingers. Rachel chewed on her lower lip for a moment. Maybe it would be better if she stayed up in the stupid attic where the old mummy oracle had been. It would be safer for all. Her prophecy switch seemed to be stuck on on.
She shifted her position to face Adonia directly. Pushing her hair from her face Rachel doned a serious expression. “Okay Adonia, this is important. I really hope that you remembered what I said cause I have no flipping idea about what I rattled off. Don’t forget that there can be double meanings; prophecies are like stupid little riddles that are created just to test demi-gods.” Rachel wasn’t sure if she was the one to ask about quests but she knew enough about them to give this newbie a push out the door.
“You can choose two companions to go with you. Only two, so make sure you choose people who are gonna be helpful. You can’t swordfight so I suggest someone who knows how. And, I’m really truly sorry about all of this. I should just go lock myself up. I’m more trouble than I am worth sometimes.” She rolled her eyes and picked at the sand again. Tossing fistfuls of it off to her right Rachel wished that Percy and Annabeth were here. If they were here the two of them would know what to do. She wanted to see Percy, she never got a chance before he left on the quest. Rachel wanted to know he was alright. OUTFIT: [/color] H E R E[/center]

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Bend over and kiss your butt goodbye? Now that made Adonia crack a small smile. It was kind of hard not to take that seriously, and she knew Rachel didn’t mean it at all. Adonia thought it was amusing, a joke in a serious conversation. It was great. But Adonia listened very closely to what Rachel was saying about learning how to fight. Praying to the gods that there will be no harpies on the trip. Adonia would definitely freeze up and probably get killed. Healing yourself if you dead, another good joke to lighten the mood, cracking another small smile.
Adonia was in deep thought about everything from learning to fight to setting out on this quest. She didn’t know when to go out for this quest. Did she have to leave right away or could she wait awhile so she can learn how to defend herself if needed. Scratching her head and playing with her hair, that’s what she did when she was in deep thought or also really nervous. Maybe Xavier could teach her to fight. He would be more than willing to help and Adonia wouldn’t mind seeing him again, that’s for sure. With that though made Adonia blurt out a small laugh with a smile, but then heard some shifting in the sand. Looking up, seeing Rachel facing her with a serious expression made Adonia snap out of her thought and focusing on what she was saying about the prophecy. Double meanings. Riddles. Tests the demi-gods. This was a great way to test the demi-gods. Lets just go put them in danger and almost to get the killed, thanks to the gods and goddesses.
Adonia had planned out that she was going to take Xavier, but very scared that he was going to get hurt… or worse. But when Rachel said that she should just lock herself up, Adonia felt bad for the poor girl. Yeah, it must be hard to hand out prophecies and such. It probably made her feel guilty. Adonia shook her head. [maroon]Oh don’t say that, Rachel. You are not no trouble at all. You are just doing what your gift allows you to do. You may feel bad and all, but without you, how would we know what to do in this camp and need? You are a great oracle.[/maroon] Saying with a smile hopefully cheering up this sad oracle.

I am a legend in my own mind+ + +everything I can’t say is irrelevant. A smile came to Rachel’s gloomy face as Adonia tried to cheer her up with come encouraging words. She drew in a breath, held for moment before letting it out. She leaned back in the sand resting on her elbows. Her mood lifted slightly. She stared out to the water, “That’s what your dad said to me. Said I would make a great Oracle.”
Something about the tone in Rachel’s voice made her sound unsure. Her head tilted to the side and she closed her eyes letting the breeze wash over her. She recalled the day, the place and the feeling of taking on the Oracle of Delphi into her. It had been so surreal. Then again prior to her calling she lead two demi-gods and a satyr underground through a maze filled with monsters, dying wild Gods, and the head honcho titan Kronos. Becoming the Oracle should not have come as a shock to her after that. And it didn’t, after she made sense of the dreams and the images she had been seeing that summer.
“But.” Rachel said at length, “It was my destiny, so I guess it should be assumed I am good at it. If not then well, the fates have an odd sense of humor.”
She smiled back at Adonia. Rachel thought about this camp clearing out fast because of all the prophecy that kept coming from her. Once again Rachel entertained the thought of locking herself away in her room for the rest of the summer. But hating to be locked up that idea went up in smoke. She sat forward again and began to braid a piece of her hair.
“Well Adonia, it has been fun and by fun I mean I am terribly sorry for the whole sending you off to your doom, but I think it would be safer if I just hid in the Big House for the rest of the summer. Or at least ventured away from all human activity.”
She paused getting up. Rachel chewed her lower lip and plopped back down in the sand. “Adonia, question. You’re a daughter of Apollo right? Right. So would you have any idea if something were wrong with me? I mean this is the fourth prophecy to have come from my mortal mouth in the past month. That doesn’t sound normal right?” OUTFIT: [/color] H E R E[/center]

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Adonia‘s smile was wiped away when Rachel had said something about her dad. She had met him. Looking down, playing with her fingers, So you’ve met my dad? How is he? She asked kind of shyly. Adonia had not seen her dad in about a year or two. Missing him greatly, she had hoped for that Apollo would come around camp more and see her, but no, that was shattered. Adonia had remembered the day exactly when Apollo came to visit their family, to tell her about the camp. It was March 21, the first day of Spring. From that point on, nothing. So she was eager to hear what Rachel would say.
Rachel would make a great oracle for sure. She wasn’t scary or old or anything. She was a normal mortal teenager who probably most kids want to be. A normal mortal. So hearing that its her destiny, Adonia agreed. It was her destiny. Without her, this camp would not know of the troubles or what to do really. Now, it looked like she was going to leave, hearing her it was fun and all, but really, Adonia didn’t really want her to leave. She was just getting to know her a little bit and also she seemed like such a nice girl.
Looking at her getting up, Adonia looked down and plucked a piece of grass from the ground and was slowly ripping it in half, trying to think of what she could do with the rest of her day. Playing the piano, meeting Xavier, or… but then suddenly, she noticed Rachel plopped right back down on the ground. A small smile crept onto Adonia’s face. She liked talking to people, that made her happy. Hearing what Rachel said, Adonia thought for a moment, then responded. Well, I am going to tell you what my mother said to me. Maybe this can relate a little with what is going on. My mother always told me that before you are born, you have a path laid out, what your life is going to be like. Then you just live that life that your spirit has planned out. So what I think is that there is nothing wrong with you at all. You are probably just delivering the message for the people who need to go on these quest. Like their destiny is playing out and you are just the messenger. Adonia said with a smile. Does that clear it up? If it doesn’t, I’m sorry if it confused you.
