Azrael blew through his lips making a buzzing sound. Boredom thy name was arts and crafts. He watched a few campers work on creating a sword or spear or some kind of deadly weapon. It was funny. Half of these kids hadn’t finished puberty and they knew blacksmithing. It was like being back in medieval era. Azrael could have cared less about working with his hands. He scoffed at that notion. His hands already did enough for him, more so. Azrael pushed off the ground unable to stand watching as the child labor laws were put to the test.
He scratched the back of his neck and walked through camp. Things around here had grown duller since half of the campers were given quests. It was like that Rachel chick was passing them out to the first two dozen campers to cross the property line. If that were the case though, where was his quest? Not that he wanted one. That would require traveling, with other demi-gods. Nope. Azrael was a work alone kind of guy. Besides he didn’t need to add more half-blood deaths to his conscious.
Making a stop by the volleyball court. Didn’t anyone else find it odd that there was a volleyball court in the middle of a camp for demi-gods? No? Perfect, it was just him. Azrael was never one for volleyball. He preferred basketball. That seemed like a better sport to have around. Maybe he would petition to get some hoops put in by the Big House. Hell, why not a football field they had the space. Azrael watched as a team of Hermes kids duked it out against a team mixed with kids from Demeter and Apollo. There were a few other on lookers as well all cheering for their own teams. Azrael folded his arms and cheered on the Hermes kids.
One of the kids a short brunette girl about twelve from Hermes missed the ball as she dived. She stumbled on her feet trying to regain balance. Out of reflex Azrael dashed forward and grabbed the girl to try and steady her. Mistake. Immediately the girl cried out. Azrael pulled his hands back and the girl collapsed to the ground unconscious. Azrael backed up and watched as the other campers surrounded her to check if she would be alright. Az could see her chest moving up and down, thankfully he hadn’t killed her but before any accusing eyes could dart in his direction Az dipped out. He raced across the creek, past the arena and back to the safety of his hammock in the forest.
Azrael’s heart picked up speed. He breathed heavily. Azrael felt tears of frustration on the edge of his eyes. He let out a scream of rage and picked up a fallen tree branch and broke it against the base of a tree. He pinched the bridge of his nose and plopped into his hammock steadying himself before it could flip over. He had forgotten that he wasn’t wearing gloves. Azrael hated this whole thing being the biggest freak on campus. It just reminded him of why he chose to be alone, coming here was a stupid idea. Azrael sighed and stared up at the treetops.

Dan reached camp half blood, his pack slung over his shoulder and sighed. Your being an idiot..He had this horrible feeling that this guy he had made the deal for his mothers life when he was thirteen was no good. He had never gotten a name that day, and afterwards he thought he was screwed so why ask? He was stuck between a rock and a hard place with no way out. He tried to make himself feel better by telling himself that he was probably infiltrating some evil demi god organization full of grown warriors. Unfortunately he was wrong.
He walked past a wide group of cabins, though staying close to the forest so not to be noticed. Most of the campers he saw where between the ages of 7 and 17 with a handful of consolers thrown in there. This bloke with the biker glasses wanted him to spy on a summer camp?! Though he did see an armory and a bunch of battle training areas, but their was a volleyball court for the love of Hades! Deciding that was a good place to start, get and a feel for the camp the son of Thanatos headed over to the court but stayed by the trees. Unnoticed by the kids who where playing the game and probably most of the onlookers. Daniel was a pretty big guy, more in height than weight but one would still think he would be hard to miss. However years of combat training and his time in Iraq had helped him learn how to just act like he wasn't there at all.
Leaning against a tree, he watched the kids play a yard or so away. He wouldn't of none what cabins they where from if they didn't actually have god's names on the back of their shirts. He guessed because that was just how they separated the volleyball teams, except one side had a mix of kids. He just let himself get lost in the game, remembering being their age and playing football...before his powers had set in and he never dared to play after that. However he was snapped out of his trip down memory lane when a guy who didn't look much older then him came out and tried to settle one of the Hermes kids who had begun to loose her balance. What happened next seemed all to familiar to him...
The girl yelled and fell to the ground, Dan looked up at the guy and the look on the other man's face could only be described as frustration, guilt and maybe even fear. He had been about to say something to him when he dashed off. Daniel quickly went to the girl, placing a gloved hand on her neck to check her pulse anyone could notice him and then ex solider rushed after the guy who he suddenly had a huge feeling he needed to speak too. He fallowed the path he had seen him take as far as he could until he reached passed the arena and began looking around.
It wasn't to long before he had made his way into the forest, and came across a small camp area complete with hammock. The yell had been a big help. He buried his hands in the pockets of his jacket as he made his way towards the other guy." The girl will be okay, her pulse was strong.." He had a feeling that he would want to know that, because he knew if he had been in that position he would of. He actually had been before..." I'm Daniel.." He said as he offered him a gloved hand, though he wasn't sure if he would take it.

Azrael sucked in a deep breath and slowly let it out working on calming himself down. He let the hammock swing slightly. His mind dwifted away for a moment and he lay still with not a single formed thought running through his head. Sometimes when people zone out and they honestly don’t hear things around them or truly see things, their mind is just in sleep mode but their eyes still gaze out to the world numbly taking in the sights. That was exactly what Azrael was doing at this moment in time.
His eyes stared at the tree unblinking. If it wasn’t for his chest heaving up and down some would think that he was dead. After a minute Az blinked and his mind flooded with sound and everything else around him. It was then that Azrael was aware of another person approaching his nice little abode. Azrael sat up and scrutinized the newcomer. He was much older than the rest of the campers, and he was taller. His eyes narrowed and guilt soaked through Azrael as the guy made mention of the girl.
Who the hell was this camper to come in here and talk to him about the poor Hermes girl he almost killed. Az was glad to hear she would make it through, but he who gave this guy speaking rights about it. Every camper was hesitant to go near Az on a daily basis as he walked through camp. Yet here this kid stood, there was something strangely familiar about him too that was the most troubling part. Azrael couldn’t help but notice a slight resemblance.
“Yeah well, who the hell asked you?” Azrael stood up and made himself look busy as he moved about his very few personal objects.
His brow line relaxed as his eyes fell on guy’s extended hand. He wore a glove. It was the middle of summer, and it didn’t look like a biker glove. Azrael looked from Daniel’s hand and up to his face. There was no way this kid was a biker. Azrael’s eyes went back down to the gloved hand. He thought about taking the hand but disregarded it. He shook his head and went back to going through a few of his weapons. He carried a celestial bronze knife which came in handy for distance kills. His hands were all he really needed in a fight. Az forced a side smirk and looked the blade over.
“Did you come here to try and make me feel better?” He asked laughing at the notion. Az glanced at Daniel from the corner of his eye, “Let me tell you pal it’s best to save your breath. I’m used to it by now. It was an accident I’ll get over it.” Azrael turned his body to fully face Daniel. He looked him up and down once more. The striking similarities and the gloves made Azrael come to one conclusion but while it made sense it didn’t. It would be impossible so Azrael didn’t say anything a loud. “Azrael.” He said with a nod.

Daniel had surprisingly been expecting this kind of reaction, the guy stood back on his own in the woods. So he wasn't surprised that he wasn't to happy to have this stranger putting his nose into his business." No one asked me, but no one else seemed to be thinking of coming back here to tell you she was all right." He said as he watched the guy move about with the few things he seemed to own. For the first time Dan actually took a moment to study his face, he could see a resemblance between this guy and someone. However when he looked up from his knives and things he noticed who he resembled, the guy he saw in the mirror every morning.
When he saw that he wasn't going to take his hand, Daniel put it back into his pocket." Nice knife..." He commented off handly, he had a few knives himself in his bag. Not to mention a gun that he had brought back from over seas, but he never kept it loaded. Why use it if you have a bunch of daggers, and a touch of death? When he spoke again, that broke him out of his train of thought." So the fact that you know she is going to be alright doesn't help? Because...." He then grew silent for a moment as he looked at the guy, the resemblance, he fact that he had caused a girl to pass out just by touching her for a moment..." I've been there and usually when it happens to me, I find comfort in the fact I didn't kill a person. Just if I'm wasting both our time with it, Im sorry..." He said with a small shrug, but speaking truthfully.
Isn't this going well He couldn't help but coming to one conclusion about this guy, the resemblance and what had just happened back there with the Hermes girl where just hard to ignore. When he had came here, part of him had thought that he could not be the only child of Thanatos but also why would the gods let him have a good amount of kids? If Daniel had to many brothers and sisters than there would be people accidentally dropping dead all over the world. Then again, this was just one guy. He nodded his head a bit when he said his name." Nice to meet ya."
" I guess that they don't make all demi gods play summer camp and sing alongs ?" He asked sounding relieved. He hadn't really been looking forward to sleeping in some cabin and playing ruddy camp games, especially if he got to close to someone...Well the exact same thing could happen to him that happened back there. He would only mingle enough to keep his ears on the inside, if he didn't give Phobos what he wanted, everyone he cared about was dead. Though he quickly pushed those thoughts from his head, if there was one thing he didn't want to think about it was that bloody god and how screwed he was. When curiosity finally got the better of him, he spoke up." So...I don't really know Demi god manners, but who is your parent that landed you here?" Was it bad taste to ask that? He wasnt sure. Though he had a shaking feeling he already knew that answer to who Az's parent was.

Azrael snorted and observed the knife in his hand for a moment. He never really gave the knife much thought. It never occurred to him if it was a nice knife or not. Then Az realized that the guy was trying to make light of an awkward conversation. Az pursed his lips and turned his head to Daniel. “Yeah, I guess it is.” He flipped it over in his hand. It was lightweight but sharp and effective. He wrapped it back up in the handkerchief that acted at the sheath.
“Look-“ He dropped off just before saying a few choice unfriendly words as Daniel continued. The way he sympathized with Azrael brought him to silence. The way Daniel had worded everything made it sound like the guy had been in this situation before, the exact same situation. Az cleared his throat and forced a smile. “Well I guess we’re two different people then. And I never said it didn’t help. You grow numb to it after a while.” Az shook his head to dismiss the topic. “Forget it.”
He set the knife back down and turned back to face Daniel. He smirked at Dan’s next question. “They encourage it oh believe me they encourage it.” Azrael leaned back against a tree shoving his hands into his pockets much like Daniel. When he realized the similar motion Az took them out again and crossed his arms over his chest. “I don’t know maybe it’s my devilishly good looks that keep them from inviting me, jealousy is an ugly thing.” Azrael joked. Of course it was because eighty percent of the campers were terrified of him not to mention he was one of the oldest ones here.
Normally Azrael would tell a person who he was the kid of right off the bat. Az had a strange feeling that Daniel already knew who his parent was. There was a good chance that Azrael knew Dan’s as well. He watched Daniel for a moment after the question. He wasn’t debating on answering or not he was just afraid to know Daniel’s reaction. Azrael had never been nervous to reveal who he was before. Scratching his head Azrael replied, “Thanatos, God of Death. Not really my dad who landed me here though.”
He chewed his tongue for a moment, “He uh, probably doesn’t know or care that I exist. I’ve never heard from the guy. Grew up alone. When your touch puts a woman in a coma, and the dead speak to you it’s kind of easy when it comes to narrowing down your parental choices. It’d be the ghosts that landed me here but that’s an entirely different story that, no offense, I don’t feel like getting into at the moment.” Azrael paused for a second wishing for the hundredth time that he hadn’t listened to freaking Casper and come here to Camp. “The Gods can stuff it for all I care, my dad never claimed me so apparently they don’t give two shits. I’m not exactly pro Camp Half Blood. Maybe be another reason they don’t like to invite me to their sing-alongs. That and I couldn’t hold a tune even if I sold my soul to Apollo.”
Azrael scoffed, “I’m almost afraid to ask, though I think I know the answer already. Whose bastard child are you?” Talk about demi-god manners. Then again Azrael didn’t have many regular mortal manners let a lone demi-god manners. Didn’t seem right that he should have one and not the other so he strived for little of both to make it fair.
