Adonia wanted to go and practice her music in the amphitheater cause the acoustics are way better and the echo was so amazing. She knew that Apollo played the lyre, but Adonia had modern day instruments that she loved to play as well. Like the piano and the guitar. She was pretty well at those. Winning competitions and talent shows. She knew it wasnt fair that the other kids didnt have a musical god like her dad was, but hey, Adonia loved music so much, she wanted everyone to hear.
When she opened the door to the amphitheater, it took Adonia's breath away. She thought that it was so beautiful and big inside. She walked in and looked around. The seats were in a perfect row, not a one broken. The stage had a beautiful gloss over the wood, where it shined really nicely with a hint of a glare coming off it. She just couldnt believe it at all. Adonia stepped up on the stage and saw that there was a piano first. She took the guitar off her back. [maroon]Now, what shall I play first?[/maroon] Adonia put her hands on her hips and tapped her foot in concentration. Adonia hated to make decisions like this. It was like choosing to give a monkey a banana or symbols. A very hard decision. She sighed a couple of times, and then decided that she will play the piano cause she could always play the guitar later.
Adonia sat down on the piano and began to play Moonlight by Yiruma. It was a beautiful song. She had saw it on a video and learned the song within two hours of playing it. Adonia was the type of learner if she saw it or heard it for awhile, she can do it. The fingers going over the keys was just as smooth as glass....but you couldn't cut yourself on the edges really. But she was making the song sound like enchanted music.

After an exciting visit to his cabin, Xavier took the advice of his very wise sisters and went to explore the camp for a while. The first place on his list was the amphitheater. He wanted to be sure that the design was appropriate because it would be a disservice to claim it was an amphitheater if it truly was just a theater. Well from a distance it was passing the eye test. Xavier could probably stay out all night measuring the structure for accuracy but he wouldn't have time for that now.
Oh the amphitheater was a joy for those who dabbled in architecture. The only problem was that this technically was not a true amphitheater. The Romans designed the original, which stemmed from Greek words meaning "around" and "on both sides" but modern amphitheaters, again, wrong name, betrayed this. Camp Half-Blood's amphitheater only had the audience on one side, no doubt for plays and performances. Either way, it was still a beautiful imitation of half the experience.
Xavier was shocked to hear that music was coming from the amphitheater. He should have guessed that someone may be using it for practice. The shape of the rows allowed sound to travel easily, making it possible for people at the top row to hear clearly without the use of modern audio systems. Curious as usual, Xavier had to walk in to see where the melody was coming from.
When he stepped into the aisles, he picked up on what the melody was nearly instantly. The song was famous in modern times, referred to as Moonlight, composed by Yiruma. Sadly, this was inaccurate as well, just a version of a better original. Strangely, what this girl with long flowy hair was playing was closer to the original. Slowly he walked down the steps in a line that would create the shortest distance between himself and the pianist.
As the tune ended, Xavier took in the conceptual beauty behind the work. The pacing of the music was enhanced by the mock amphitheater. "Very well played. It sounded more like Moonrise by Brian Crain. Many people our age prefer Moonlight by Yiruma but you have outstanding taste apparently, " he said very knowingly.
He looked at the girl's face and pondered over it a bit. Symmetrically she was a wonder, certainly could make a case for her to be Aphrodite's child. However, the musical talent begged to differ. "I presume you're a daughter of the mighty Apollo. They say the gods would tremble in his presence. I think that if our fellow campers had any intellect, they'd tremble in yours in regards to your musical talent," he said. He typically didn't compliment people, but he was certainly impressed by her musical capacity.

While Adonia was playing her piano song, she closed her eyes while playing the song. She submerged herself into a whole new world. First off, she was on the Milky Way in the sky, dancing around over the purplish-black sky. Seeing the different constellations drifting by her feet. She thought of herself wearing a pretty blue dress, her hair all done perfectly. Then as the pace picked up for the song, she went into a flying more. Seeing the rings of Saturn, seeing the beautiful color of Venus, baby blue. Smelled the atmosphere, it was empty, but also fulfilling. Then as it the music picked up more, she was flying towards the sun, seeing the face of her father, smiling at her in the sun. He was mouthing to her, I’m so proud of you. Adonia started to cry, feeling the tears fall on her face.
When the song ended, when Adonia thought for a second about how she felt when playing the song. She felt good, sad at the same time for seeing Apollo in it. But then she heard a voice from behind her. Adonia quickly turned around and saw a boy standing there. He had said that the song was originally done by Brian Crain. He was definitely right about that. Adonia smiled and nodded her head, [maroon]You are absolutely correct about that one. Most people didn’t know that either. But the only reason why people in our days call it Moonlight cause Yiruma had made it famous.[/maroon] As she was smiling, Adonia noticed that she had been crying while playing. She quickly turned around and wiped her face. [maroon]So embarrassing![/maroon] Then she looked back at the boy, he was staring at her.
Then she had heard him saying she was the daughter of Apollo. Adonia sat up straight, nodding her head with a smile again. But then suddenly blushed cause of the compliment she was given. Adonia wasn’t really used to compliments from cute guys. He seemed to be really smart cause his vocabulary was astounding. Adonia stood up from her seat and walked to the boy. [maroon]Why thank you. That was a wonderful compliment. My name is Adonia Theodosia. And I didn’t know you came in. I was so submerged by the music, I can easily get toned out.[/maroon] She had said with her hand sticking out for the boy to introduce himself and also to shake his hand. It was the polite thing to do.

As the girl turned he immediately noticed the microscopic stream flowing from the deltas that were her eyes. The small droplets that fell out of the realm of the sea god himself rolled along with a steady gravitational pull climbing over the hills that were her full cheeks. Intriguing to say the least. Her passion for the music showed both in her knowledge and her key for each key as she applied gentle pressure. She was so immersed in her music that it brought her tears. He envied her passion because he'd never felt that way about anything before.
"It seems my musical history is no match to yours when you combine it with your power over the instruments," he told her with a nod. It was rare he'd admit defeat, but the truth must prevail. As she introduced herself and stuck out her hand, Xavier had a feeling that he'd yet to encounter, boldness. "Well Adonia, manners certainly do not escape you, I must say it's a rare occurrence," he said while gently taking her hand. If she was a girl that required respect, he would give it to her. Gently he kissed her hand before placing it back in her lap. "My name is Xavier Alexander, and you don't have to explain to me why you didn't notice me," he told her.
"You know, if I was less of a philosopher than I tend to think I am, I might say that our meeting was fate. However fate can only provide an opportunity. Many fear the pressure of free will. What do you think we should do about our gift from fate?" he asked in a serious tone. He wasn't sure where this brash nature was coming from, but the girl clearly sparked his interest, something that rarely happened to him. He thought back on the story of his own birth and wondered if fate would do to him what it did to his father while he was studying at Yale.

Adonia smiled, but what caught her totally off guard was when he kissed her hand. This shocked her because no one had really kissed her hand before. It felt like she was in Ancient England, where the upper-class folk would kiss hands in their greetings to the women. [maroon]Ooo, this guy is such a gentleman and a charmer too.[/maroon] Adonia was one hundred percent sure he was a charmer, but from doing that, to her eyes, he was. [maroon]Well its common manners to know what each other names are before gauging into conversation. My mother taught me right.[/maroon] She smiled and nodded to his name. He had a very nice name indeed. Adonia never really heard of it before, but it was certainly different, and it was nice. [maroon]Lovely name I do say. Very different. And I should have explained because I would think it was rude for not to explain why I didn’t see you. You may have thought I didn’t want you here is all.[/maroon]
Adonia was shocked on how intelligent Xavier was. How he spoke, the words came out like….well….smart. So there was no doubt in Adonia’s mind that he was the son of Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom. He was talking about fate and the free will of making the decisions of fate. Adonia would think that this conversation was going to be a good one indeed. She was glad to come to the amphitheater to practice now.
Pondering on what her response was going to be, Adonia tucked her hair behind her ear because she did this when she was in deep thought. [maroon]What I think we should do is not fear the free will, as you say most people do. I think we should take this fate and roll with it. Seeing what would happen.[/maroon] Adonia walked off to the first row of seats and sat down. She was now interested in what Xavier was going to say. [maroon]Come sit. More comfortable than standing, if I say so myself.[/maroon] Adonia said with a smile.

Xavier would have to agree that her mother did in fact teach her well. His mother would most likely approve of her kindness and adherence to manners that had long since been phased out by the cheap moral fabric of western society. "Since you've used lovely to describe my name, I'm going to have a difficult time finding a word to describe your appearance. It's against my nature to use a limited vocabulary," he said. He probably should have left it at the fact that he liked her appearance, but he didn't see harm in letting her understand him a bit better. Either way, all these things were subjective as it was. Her liking his name and his liking her apperance could just simply be a falsified construct the two of them had to better satisfy themselves with the reality they preferred to partake in.
"So it is rudeness that concerns you. I'm not sure you should be worried. You were in this altered version of an amphitheater not disturbing a soul" Xavier said, alluding this disdain for their false rendition. "In fact, you enhanced one with your playing. I fear that I on the other hand am the rude one. Since you're insistent upon my staying though, I think I will accept that offer," he said to her making sure she understood very well that she did nothing wrong in the situation.
As her face turned into thinking mode, he was glad that his face wasn't the only one that gave away his position. His eyes had a bad habit of narrowing though, much more subtle than a physical gesture signaling uncertainty like Adonia's hair movement. He didn't mind her taking the time to think, he much preferred well thought out points that just random spewing of false articulation. What she said next really took him back, not fearing free will was a lot of pressure. This was going to cause some serious recalculation. Before he accepted her tempting invitation to sit with her, he had to make one point. "If by 'rolling' with this fate you mean just accepting that it happens then I will have to agree. However, once we accept free will, we dismiss fate and take the responsibility into our own hands."
As he said this he was walking towards her and reached out to take her hand into his again. "For example, what if I don't want to find out whether or not it would be fate for me to take your hand? What if I simply chose to? If this was fate, I would bare no responsibility. However, if you thought that I chose to take your hand, you would understand that it means something more," he told her hoping the example was easy to understand. He realized that he hadn't yet let go of her hand, most likely because he'd nevaer taken a girl's hand into his before without a true reason. Her hand was soft and warm, a combination that could put him in a trance had it been more than just her hand.
Looking around the amphitheater once more, he realized that the refurbishing would enhance the original design just a bit due to sound insulation. He couldn't continue the pressure he felt holding her hand so he placed it back in her lap and smiled at her. She wouldn't relinquish her smile so he had to move. He was afraid of his own impulses for the first time, so he had to put them back into check.
Quickly he slipped out of the spot he was sitting about as quickly as he got in. Right before he left he told her, "Don't move." With haste he moved across the row and sprinted up the aisle. His agility was absolutely fluid because he'd already figured out the height of each step to optimize the stride he should use to get to his destination. Within seconds he had placed himself all the way at the end of the amphitheater, the furthest from her he could possibly sit. The rows were arranged to where anyone sitting at any spot could hear any sound that went on. With this information, he motioned for her to listen to him by cupping his ear. When he felt he had her attention, he whispered. "Fate would have it to where you could hear this whisper. However, if you're ready to control your own destiny, come over here and take what you want with your free will."

Adonia was now starting to blush. She had a feeling that he was trying to tell her she was pretty, or beautiful. But he didn’t want to use a simple word for the meaning. Of course it sounded like he wanted to use a fancy word for beautiful. Adonia couldn’t think of any words that is more non-limited as beautiful. She just had her head in the clouds at the moment, not sure why though, she just only met him. But his words and the way he talked, that’s what got her hook at that moment. He wasn’t some stupid kid, he was well educated and also seemed to her that Xavier reads a lot. She wanted to be polite and say something back about him, but what could she say? He had her beat with the words he said, plus, Adonia would be too chicken to say that he was really good looking himself. So she just kept her mouth shut.
Xavier did have a point there about her being in the amphitheater, not bothering a soul, but this was America and he does have a right to walk around and visit where he pleased. She just smiled and shook her head at him, disagreeing that he was being rude. [maroon]Oh you are not being rude one bit. While I was playing, you were probably just passing by and then you heard my piano playing. But then I am guessing that the music peaked your curiosity cause you recognized the song, therefore, making you enter the amphitheater. So no, just following your curiosity isn’t rude.[/maroon] Adonia thought about what she said for a second and was taken aback a little bit. She thought she sounded smart, which she has never done in her whole life. Maybe his nice words had rubbed off onto her, which she was liking. Adonia’s mother would have been pretty impressed if she started to talk like that at home. Even her step-father would be surprised.
She had noticed that when she was talking, that Xavier did this, narrowing of the eyes, thing. Was he trying to figure out what she was saying? Did it make sense? Or maybe he was just trying to process it where he would know what to say next. But other than that, his eyes looked amazing. The grey look it had to them. Certainly something that you don’t see everyday, that’s for sure. But then she was listening to his response. He was right, and she nodded in agreement. [maroon]I am going to have to agree with you there, Xavier…..[/maroon] But she stopeed in the middle of her sentence because he grabbed her hand.
When Adonia felt the touch of Xavier’s hand, she silently inhaled fast. Like it shocked her that he took her hand. But in a good way. Maybe she wanted him to take her hand? No, because he was just using it as an example. That’s only it. Now Adonia was concentrating about what he was describing about fate and free will. At the moment, she didn’t really have a response. Trying to get the information to process in her head. Again, he was right, but then she thought of another thought that she had seen in movies. [maroon]But what would happen if you just grabbed my hand without free will? Like you know how some people do things without even realizing it? Could that be fate or free will?[/maroon] She hoped he understood this, and didn’t confuse him. But since he is so smart, Adonia thinks that he will definitely understand what she was saying. What she meant about the movies part, like in a romance movie, where the guy kisses the girl and then when they break, the guy says he is sorry, he didn’t mean it or that he wasn’t thinking. So that to her meant that he didn’t choose it, it just happened.
She noticed that he hadn’t let go of her hand yet. Adonia didn’t care, she wanted him to make the decision if he was going to let go or not. Make him act on his words. But then he suddenly put her hand back on her lap. Adonia moved her hand so she could cup her other one, then set them on her lap again. She straightened up in her chair cause her back was starting to hurt her a bit. But then she jumped because Xavier quickly jumped out of his chair, told her not to move. Adonia was a little confused, but then watched him run up the steps. She chuckled a bit, watching him. As she watched him sit down, Adonia just smiled at him, trying to figure out what he was doing with his ears. But then she realized that he wanted her to cup her ears. [maroon]Oh![/maroon] Adonia cupped her ears. Xavier was whispering. She could hear a little, so she started at his lips, reading what he was saying. Adonia knew how to read lips pretty well because she always wanted to see what her mom and step-dad talked about what to get her for Christmas. Adonia was always around the corner peeking, trying to see what they were saying. Always getting it right. But, anyway, back to Xavier. He asked her to let fate hear what he was sating and that she should go up there at her free will and get what she wanted. Adonia laughed and began to climb the steps. As she was climbing, she started to talk. [maroon]You know, I cant choose your destiny for you. Yes, I can choose my own, nut there is no way that I can choose yours.[/maroon] She reached the top, walked past him and took a seat next to him. Wondering what he would say next.

Xavier didn’t answer her question about free will versus fate when it came to his taking her hand because he figured that his action would speak louder than his words. It probably wasn’t every day that a guy would sprint to the other end of an amphitheater just to make a point. Good thing for long days of training until the moon got tired of watching him run and practice. He was taken back a bit by Adonia walking towards him now. He didn’t initially get the feeling that either of them was overly bold but that sure wasn’t stopping them from playing a bit of cat and mouse. They had both taken their turns playing the other role now.
He tried very hard to watch the way she moved and listen to her words at the same time. Her composure was very impressive. Any girl that kept a conversation with Xavier this long was surely ready to back down. Not only was she coming to him, but she was pushing him to make his move as well. Well he didn’t exactly have to move though because she moved past him and took the seat beside him. Slowly he turned his head to face her. He made sure to steady his breathing to make sure his thinking was clear and his answer consistent. “Well you make a great point, your free will is yours alone, but it does determine mine. I can’t exactly choose my own destiny as it pertains to yours. I can’t just take your hand unless you leave it there.” He tried to explain the best he could that their free will were dependent upon each other.
“You see Adonia, this isn’t as simple as a linear equation. There one variable can tell the other what to do. For our equation, one can merely react how it chooses to the other and that makes things extremely complicated an unpredictable.” He continued with more explaining of his philosophy about free will when it comes to adding a second person in your equation. He wasn’t so sure why he was even considering adding her into his equation. If there was one thing Xavier didn’t like, it was complications. Everything had to make sense to this boy, including why he did the things that he did. Somehow he ended up sitting next to a pretty girl who didn’t mind his expression of intellect. What more could he ask for? But he wasn’t asking for anything in the first place. This was all too confusing. None of his books could get him out of this situation.
Quickly Xavier popped out of his seat again. Sitting here talking had put him out of his element. He thought so well on his feet he decided to get back on them. He jumped behind Adonia and then back in front of her like a squirrel chasing the last nut in the world. “That is my expression of free will. I can jump where I like and there is nothing you can do about it. My equation is linear. When I include you, my destiny does in fact leave my hands and is placed in yours, so I think you can choose my destiny."He was inches away from her now directly in front of her. He took himself down to one knee and softened his look. He thought at this moment he had surely made his point.
Before Xavier completely gave up his free will, he sat back in his chair. He thought about how his father told him the story of how he met Athena in college. This must have been how it felt. His brain must have been on overdrive trying to figure out who the lady was that was challenging his every point. Now Xavier was facing a similar challenge. It wasn’t that Adonia was challenging him for right or wrong, but she was challenging him to step up and take responsibility. Xavier was extremely defensive both physically and mentally. He set up a lot of blocks around his emotions the way he did when he fought with swords. He wasn’t an offensive force, but it’s hard to lose if you don’t get hit. Maybe that’s why he never talked to any of the girls who found him attractive. Besides their superficial motives, letting someone in through his defense would leave him more vulnerable than he hoped to be.
Sitting next to Adonia was very challenging. He wanted to just spill out all of his thoughts that he was having about her, but it would be like giving away your strategy right before you play chess against a worthy opponent. Here he was, sitting next to a girl that was giving him the time of day and allowing him to be himself and he was strategizing. There wasn’t much he could do about it; his mother was the greatest strategist of all time after all. Every time he glanced over at her she had that amazing smile that lifted her full cheeks and propelled them out right at him. How could he want to push this girl away? She seemed genuine enough to trust, but it wasn’t easy for him. He only had two people he cared about in his entire life before moving to camp and meeting his sisters.
“Adonia will do something for me out of free will and not fate?” he asked, finally breaking his track of thought. “Will you play another song on your piano? The music is as pleasing to the ears as you are aesthetically on my eyes. If you do, it could inspire thoughts I’ve never conceived before.” He figured that if just one song could spark him enough to get philosophical about free will and fate, perhaps the next could help him solve some of the greatest mysteries that have plagued the minds of futile mortals for centuries. There was so much that needed solving but Xavier couldn’t find the motivation to solve the world’s ills. Maybe if Adonia could solve his mental ills than he could in turn do it for her and the rest of the world. “You don’t have to, it would just be nice to have a partner to help me when I alone can’t fix everything that is broken in this world.”

Xavier had asked Adonia to play another song for him. Out of free will and not fate. This made her smile. Of course would be happy to play for him again. Adonia nodded. [maroon]Of course I will play for you. All you need to do is ask and I will play as long as you like me to.[/maroon] She flashed him a smile, got up from her seat and started to walk down the steps. As she was walking, she was running songs through her head. Should she play Yiruma again? Maybe some Mozart or Beethoven? Gosh, these decisions were sometimes always so hard to do. Maybe she should play something that isn’t by anyone really famous. She nodded to her thought, that’s what she was going to do. Maybe to stump him.
Adonia reached the reached the piano. She sat on the bench, then faced Xavier, [maroon]I am going to play this song and I want to see if you know it cause he isn’t as famous as Yiruma or Beethoven. So lets see how smart you really are.[/maroon] Adonia chuckled. She meant that last sentence as in a playful joke. But she sat down and started to play the piece called ‘Sundial Dreams’ by Kevin Kern. And again, she was starting to get submerged into the music. Feeling the ivory keys with every touch. She thought of the sun. And a warm beach. Her sitting on it, then it began to rain lightly, but the sun was still out. It seemed like everything was peaceful. There wasn’t no one around, just the sound of the music, ran and the rolling waves of the ocean. The sun was warm. Not too hot nor too cold, just right. As the song ended, Adonia took a deep breath and then looked at Xavier. [maroon]Well, how was that for you? Was it the right song that pleased the ears? If not, I can always play another song for you. All you have to do is say what name and I will be able to play it.[/maroon] Adonia just kept staring at him, realizing she needed to look somewhere else before he thought she was weird for staring at him too long. So she quickly cleared her throat and looked down, then chuckled once and looked back up at him.

When Adonia agreed that she would play for him, the certainty in her voice was very reassuring to him. It was nice to know that if he ever wanted to hear fine music. Though Xavier studied music and other arts in quite a bit of detail (what didn’t he study in great detail?), he didn’t possess the talent to create it on his own. The closest he got to being creative was when he designed a few blueprints and architectural structures. Now that he was thinking on it, he was a decent artist, but only if the drawings made sense in some ways. He could never do abstract though he could certainly interpret things if asked to.
As she walked back down the steps he watched her closely to see how well her details accentuated her natural radiant presence. He wondered where the girl must have grown up to have this sort of presence. He would have to ask later, but for the moment he just studied her natural easiness that she walked with. He envied her carefree personality because his brain was always on overdrive. Even the steps that he took had to be optimal, using the exact amount of energy needed at all times to keep some on reserve just in case. Her easy stride was met with her fully volume hair that bounced in accompaniment of each step down the steps.
Finally as she finished her descend down the audience’s domain of the amphitheater, she assumed her performer’s position again and turned back to Xavier. She challenged his intelligence, at least in the department of musicians who had yet to reach the spotlight. This was probably going to be tough considering if he read about the musician, they were probably famous. If this person wasn’t as famous, this could be a challenge that Xavier wouldn’t be able to meet. Normally he would be a little defensive at a challenge but the tone of her voice carried no malice or ill intent. Even if there were, her smile would be enough to erase any animosity that he was starting to doubt she had the ability to carry within her pleasant soul.
As she started to play, Xavier slowly walked down the theater, tracing the exact steps that she took to get back to her instrument of both the soul and ears alike. While the keys managed to paint a harmonious picture, Xavier continued to press the issue of free will versus fate. Certainly each time she stroked a key it was free will, but did fate bring it together to produce a beautiful melody? Was it by chance that this mystery composer had the talent necessary to write such music? Nature versus nurture was a very controversial thought to add on to free will versus fate. It was all a matter of spirituality, which this song seemed to evoke.
As the song was winding down Xavier realized that Adonia did grant him what he asked her for. It wasn’t just about helping him solve the problems of the world, but the problems he had internally. It was no wonder he couldn’t solve any major problems with brain power alone. There was a place for the soul that he hadn’t accounted for this entire time. This could also solve the equation once and for all between fate and free will. The gaps in his knowledge were closing as the song was, and soon his eyes softened and a smile crept over his face. “I thought it was a brilliant song Adonia, it was pleasant for more than just my ears though,” he told her while he took a seat next to her at the piano. “It’s a matter of free will that I would have you play me a song, but a matter of fate that you could uplift my soul with simple key strokes,” he said as he continued. “The biggest difference between you and I is that your soul is set free by your outlook while mine is chained to the logic that dominates my existence.” Xavier had become far more somber now, realizing things about himself he’d never thought of before.
“Your song has allowed me to uncover truths once hidden like the lost wonder of the world Atlantis. Sadly though, I wasn’t able to recall the name of the composer to that song. It seems to be an artist that prefers spiritual connection over difficulty because I have a hunch that’s not that hardest song you could play for me.” He took in a deep breath before he continued spilling out his revelations. “The answer to fate and free will’s relationship is much simpler than I thought.” Xavier thought hard on how to best make sense of what was running through his head like the run of the bulls in Spain. “My brain right now is telling me to keep you as a friend, and that is a choice made stemming from free will. However, my soul is performing an exodus from my physical in an attempt to meet yours, and that is out of fate,” he said, not even getting embarrassed that he just said his soul wanted to meet hers.
“Self awareness has set the human race apart from all others in the animal kingdom because free will enters the equation that fate used to control directly.” Xavier fell quiet for fear that he was talking too much. He absolutely had to let this out though. For the first time in his life, he allowed logic and his soul meet somewhere in the middle as opposed to thinking of everything as having a clear right or wrong choice. Still, one thing was coming to his mind and soul plain as day, he had better not let this girl just walk away from him, both with her feet and spirit. “I don’t know what you’re feeling Adonia, but I can’t let fate dictate our direction. My free will is begging fate to keep you close to me.” Xavier’s eyes went back to narrowing as he put himself back into deep thought.
Leaving his shield at the cabin seemed to have a trickle effect on his emotions. He dropped that shield as well just now when he admitted to her that he was choosing to do what he could to be with her. He didn’t exactly feel it was the best time to have a girlfriend, but she was certainly making a case to become a part of his new world along with his sisters. He thought of what he told her earlier about her having some sort of control over his decisions and he was right to disagree. He’d basically handed his fate over to her on a platter for her to keep or throw back in his face. As both a scholar and a fighter, Xavier knew better than to take chances. Still, logic seemed to flow through the music she played and out into the open skies. The only thing left was purity in emotion and spirit.

Adonia smiled when he complemented her on the music she had played for him. She loved getting compliments cause it makes her confidence boost up, but like she didn’t need anymore confidence. Adonia knew she could play her piano and guitar very well. That may have sounded conceited, but it was true to Adonia. Her music was basically her life. When she felt sad (which is hard to do), she would sit with her guitar and compose her own music, or even play songs she knew. But the best time for her to play the piano was when she was happy, which is like all the time, cause she can escape to a whole different world where no one can tell her what to do or say. She was like the queen of her own world.
She had heard what Xavier had said about her soul, saying it was set free as his was chained to the logic. Adonia had felt bad by it. She wanted now so badly to help him out because seeing the look on his face, that somber look, that just broke her heard to pieces. [maroon]This may be a challenge for me to make. Helping him break free and have some fun.[/maroon] Maybe for some fun, she can take him down to the beach and swim in the water, or just take him on a small picnic where they could play different games and such instead of him sitting in the cabin and reading. Yeah, she may have to give that a shot.
Adonia smiled that he couldn’t figure out the composer, she was going to answer, but Xavier kept talking. But then she thought it would have been rude for her to answer while he was still talking. Her mother would have been ashamed of her for doing that. So she just listened more to what he was talking about fate and free will. She nodded her head when he had said to keep her as a friend. But then it shocked her a bit that he said something about his soul meeting hers. Was he saying that he wanted more as a friend? Adonia was a little bit confused, so she listened more, hoping that he would clear it up.
She started to smile. Xavier did want her to keep close to him. This was a big relief to her. So Adonia looked down at his hand and grabbed a hold of it. [maroon]Well, you don’t need to worry about me. I will stay close when you need me. You are just so interesting to be around. So its kinda hard to keep distant from you. Xavier, to me, you are the type of person that keeps me on my toes with your conversations. Its fun to talk to you. Now, about you saying that your soul is chained by your logic, I beg to differ. You have a choice to either let it be chained and you have a choice to set it free. So one day, we need to do some serious fun. No book reading or nothing. I can tell you read lots of books and not enough fun. But I will certainly change all of that, if you let me.[/maroon] Adonia was hoping he would let her cause she is the daughter of the healing god.

Xavier heard her out as she responded to everything he’d said all at once. He realized she must really be paying attention to him and his words because she really did seem to have a well thought out response. The first thing she told him was that he didn’t need to worry about her, in regards to her staying close. He smiled when she appreciated having him around because he was interesting and kept her on her toes. She had no idea what it felt like to be him though. Being on your toes mentally couldn’t describe what he was doing on a second basis. In fact, if he stopped thinking for an entire second, well the world might crumble in a fate worse than if Atlas were to quit his job. She said overall that it was hard to keep her distance from him, but he’d find that out for sure when she had the chance to be apart from him. They were both so new at camp; they could grow apart if they got different friends. He wasn’t quite sure still if that meant they would be just friends or something more. It didn’t sound too convincing that it was more, but he was in no rush.
He didn’t think of all the things that he said that Adonia would get hung up on the idea that his soul was chained to his logic. He felt like his masculinity had been stabbed through a vital organ when she said that it was a choice he made. If she was right, how could he forgive himself for capturing a prize that Hades would surely claim at a whim, his soul? After a quick second of thought, he didn’t exactly think he was choosing to be so logical. He didn’t have a lot of time to develop this because she continued on. She then presented him with both and offer and a judgment. Well the first one was spot on, he did read a lot of books, but the second part of that judgment was off. He felt as if he had some fun. The challenge part was most intriguing; she wanted to have some serious fun with him. He wasn’t exactly sure what that meant to her.
“I didn’t know we weren’t having serious fun right now, no books involved,” he said plainly. He hoped that she didn’t mean stereotypical fun, like the pranks those insufferable Hermes kids would pull. “I see no reason not to let you try if you think it will free up my soul,” he told her in a matter-of-fact tone. He wasn’t exactly locking on to the idea of his personality being something he could alter. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to try. If her idea of fun was enough to release him from his constant pursuit of knowledge, then so be it. However, if it proved to be a failed attempt, he wouldn’t have anything to lose. While he agreed to this, he still really had one goal in mind, being in her presence. He probably would have agreed to pulling pranks with the Hermes cabin all night if meant that she would be there. Strange that he was so eager to agree to more time with her.
Slowly Xavier circled the piano, getting a chance to marvel at its design. It was truly a work of art and functionality rolled into one. He wondered if he had this in common with the piano. He appreciated the construction of his own body. He was built to be a warrior, perfectly symmetrical on both sides as far as limb size. He was evenly capable with both hands when wielding a sword though he preferred his left. Still, this wasn’t what he was thinking about the most. Functionality was the key word here. This piano was probably constructed for the finest of composers, just like Adonia. However, was he designed for the finest of girls, just like Adonia? “Adonia I’m sorry if my book reading is not as thrilling as other camp activities. I can assure you though; I do have every intention of getting to know you better. I just know I’m not exactly the easiest person to get through to, but if you stick with me, maybe you actually can change me for the better.” Xavier loved the thought of personal improvement, he was just afraid of failing and leaving her disappointment.

Adonia immediately felt bad for what she had said to Xavier, and also to his response. Of course they were having fun right now, without any books. Adonia now was feeling like she had hurt his feelings. She hated it when other people got their feelings hurt. That sounded like when Adonia was five years old, in kindergarten. She told this one girl, that if she didn’t play with her, she wouldn’t be her friend. The girl started to cry and Adonia felt really bad. So she went and gave the girl a big hug. And that is how she felt right now, but Xavier wasn’t a girl and he wasn’t crying. [maroon]Oh, we are having fun. But I thought we do something more fun, than play music and talk was all. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings or anything. I’m sorry.[/maroon] Adonia nodded when he agreed that she help. But she would have to be clever and creative to intertwine what he thought would be fun, making it up for her lack of words earlier.
As Adonia was watching Xavier was walking around the piano, she was wondering what was going through his head. Was he thinking about what she had said? Was he thinking that she was rude? Adonia didn’t know for sure until he stopped, looked at her and began to talk. When he finished, Adonia stood up and stretched, she was getting a backache from sitting for so long. [maroon]Well, I know that you love to read and I felt like I stepped on a boundary or something that I shouldn’t have. Reading is such a wonderful thing because you can get lost into your own little world of fantasy and wonderment. Also, if you meet someone who reads the same books as you, you can always compare characters and talk about the plot.[/maroon] Then Adonia had an idea in her mind. [maroon]How about if we both read a book, then we can compare our thoughts about it? Does that sound fun?[/maroon]
If Adonia was going to be knowing Xavier more, she would have to not think of herself, but also think of him also. They couldn’t always be doing what she wanted to do. So if he wants to sit by the tree, lake, ocean, or whatever and read a book. Of course Adonia will sit there and read a book. To be truthful, she loved to read books. Mostly on fantasy and romance. Oh romance was her favorite genre. Some of the books made her really sad. For example, The Reader was her all time favorite book. It showed that you can love no matter what age you may be. It was just a sad book in general. Adonia didn’t want to go into great detail since she didn’t know who all read the book or not. But now, she walked around the stage a bit, eyeing Xavier and smiling.
Now Adonia was hoping that he smile will make it up for her rudeness. She tried to make it look comforting and nice, like a million of suns were coming out, but not to blind him of course.

Xavier stopped to tell Adonia, "You didn't hurt my feelings, I was just trying to guage your idea of fun compared to mine." Xavier smiled at her to make sure that she knew that he really wasn't offended. He was always either extremely blunt or would speak in parables. His favorite thing to do was spew out analogies and metaphors to make his point come to life. The moments where did cut straight to the point like he did with his question about whether or not they were having fun could definitely seem to have more weight behind it.
As he completed his movement, Adonia started hers. When she stood up to relieve her back, Xavier found himself standing very close to her. He had about a half of a foot in height on her, certainly noticable, but not enough to where he would have to break his own back to give her a hug. He tested this theory out when she finished talking.
Xavier's brown eyes lit up to the point where someone would consider them honey in hue. He thought this was seriously the second best idea in the world for them to read a book and talk about it together! The first best idea in the world, well he was going to act on that one immediately. With one arm, Xavier swooped her up so fast her body moved before her hair even had time to react. She was in a big one arm hug and spinning slowly in a full circle.
"I think it's a great idea!" he told her excitedly. Probably more excitedly than anything else he'd said so far at camp. He used to do this with his father all the time when he was a child. He wanted his mother to play, but she had influenced too many of the writers so she was biased. "Does this mean we get to read together too? We could find some comfortable places and relax," he offered, finally setting her back down on her feet. "We can read any book you like, chances are I'll enjoy it since literature is a great passion of mine!"

[maroon]Whoa![/maroon] Adonia said surprised when Xavier picked her up. She was smiling and laughing. [maroon]Wow, he loves the idea![/maroon] Well she knew that he would love the idea. But now she had to think of what book he would like. After Xavier let her down on her feet, her head was still spinning. She was so excited to be in his presence at the moment. [maroon]Well, I am very happy indeed that you love this idea. Now, give me a minute to think of a book we can talk about.[/maroon] Adonia smiled at him, then started to walk around the stage more, looking at the floor in deep thought of books.
There was a lot that she had read. Well, there was Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet was by William Shakespeare in between the years 1591 to 1595, but the play was first published in 1597. But the whole play was based on the love Romeo and Juliet had for one another. Even though their families hated each other, Romeo and Juliet knew that they would be together. They secretly got married the next day behind their parents’ back. But after Romeo got exiled for slaying Tybalt, who murdered Mercutio, Juliet went to Friar Lawrence to help her out. He had offered her a drug where it would make her appear dead, but she would be in a very deep sleep. But Romeo hadn’t really found out about it from Blathasar, cause the messenger hasn’t reached Romeo, so he buys a poison, going to kill himself. He had went to the tomb of the Capulet, seeing Paris was there. Romeo battled with Paris and prevailed. Romeo went to Juliet’s side, he spoke to her, drank the poison and dies. Juliet wakes and sees her love, her husband, Romeo, dead by her side. She quickly jumps off of the tomb laying and goes next to him. Very saddened that he had not left any poison for her. So Juliet takes his dagger and killed herself. Adonia had always thought that it was the families fault for having a feud and not letting their kids be together.
Now, there was another book. Wicked Lovely written by Melissa Marr. This book was more of an urban fantasy book. The book is about faeries and mortals intermingling. There is a teenage girl name Aislinn, but her friends call her Ash, but she can see faeries around her, but from since she was small girl, she has been taught not to talk to them or even acknowledge them. But one day, she meets the fiery who is the Summer King named Keenan. He believes that she is the one who will be the Summer Queen. Adonia believes that Keenan was in love with her, but also with Donia, the Winter Girl. So he tries to get Aislinn to become the Summer Queen so she can defeat his mother who is the Winter Queen. She keeps telling him no and refusing over and over again cause she is in love with her best friend, Seth. But in the end, seeing no way around it, Aislinn becomes the Summer Queen, but only reins alongside Keenan. And Aislinn sticks with her best friend and new lover, Seth. Now, Adonia thought that Aislinn did the right decision to be with Seth because if Adonia was in that position, she would have stuck with the one she knew the longest and with someone she loved.
Adonia paced the room more, she could not pick a book. She looked up at Xavier and gave him a reassuring smile that she was still thinking about the books. [maroon]Sorry, one more minute a promise.[/maroon] She gave him a wink and then looked back down to the floor, thinking about more books. Adonia paced the floor, five steps, then one popped into her head. [maroon]I got it![/maroon] She thought. Adonia knew a perfect book, A Walk to Remember. It was a romance novel, and she wanted to see if he like romance novels. Anyways, A Walk to Remember was written by Nicholas Sparks. Adonia turned around quickly and looked at Xavier. [maroon]Have you read the book “A Walk to Remember” by Nicholas Sparks?[/maroon]
