Secretly Xavier was sad that he had to set her down. For a moment he was truly happy. That moment came when there was absolutely no space between them, but he had to set her down, he couldn't make it obvious. "Take as long as you like," he told her with a smile though he really wanted to tell her to not worry about it for now and just come back into his arms. He could never say that though, she'd think he was crazy!
Speaking of crazy, Xavier knew for sure he'd lost it. What were these new thoughts going through his head? Adonia was seriously putting in a lot of thought on his behalf about choosing a book and he was thinking about... this? It was so out of nowhere he didn't know what to make of the whole thing.
Something about how she looked while she was thinking just pulled him like the gravitational force between two stars that happened to get too close. Her aura was absolutely radiating at this point. Maybe it was the fact that he liked her thinking mode or something, but Xavier was trying really hard to contain himself. She was like the sun and he was a burgeoning plant, yearning to be closer to her.
Time itself seemed to have been pushed onto a different plane because it seriously felt like she was thinking for a long time. Not that it was a big deal, he just really wanted her back with him again. It was so different being the person watching someone else think. Typically, most people would watch Xavier with intent because they wanted to see what his superpowered brain would come out with. Now it was his turn to watch her and see what she would come up with.
He did feel a little guilty about not thinking of books himself. He wasn't even trying to help. How could he when she was more attractive to him now than any girl that ever had been? He started to piece together why. Aside from the fact that she was already pretty to him, he was so happy that she was putting in this much mental effort just to spend time with him. That was so sweet, and now her personality was becoming irresistable to him.
He studied her so intently, he could even detect her breathing patterns. He wasn't sure quite what they meant, but it certainly changed pace when she either had a thought or didn't have one. What he did pick up on, was her breathing cease, definitely so she could speak. She asked for another moment and winked at him. He was sure he was going to die because in every medical book he'd read as a child, he knew that when a heart stopped, so did life. His heart definitely skipped a beat or ten. He was sure Kronos himself was here controlling time, but he knew that was impossible as well.
Finally he she stopped with the thinking, just before he seriously died. She could have asked about a book written in Japanese and he would have thought it was the perfect choice. (If you're surprised X doesn't know how to read in Japenese, so am I.) "That's a perfect choice! I've never read it," he told her so quickly he barely separated the words. All he wanted was to end this torture. It was as if he was a lost soul trapped in Hades' domain that couldn't escape. He couldn't just ask her for another hug though, she'd think he was crazy. For now... he waited.
