and everything that you see here is for you from me
i give it away so easily

Quite honestly, Harper could absolutely not believe that she'd just admitted all of that. Had Gavin Sawyer, the boy who she'd absolutely fretted over for at least three days, really just snatched a true explanation out of her? She was absolutely taken by surprise, and for once it'd been herself that had taken her by surprise. Never before had she'd possessed the courage to be so honest before, even to her own cabin mates. She had never admitted such a tremendous piece of information to anyone, not even to her own mother. After all, Harper was very good at keeping secrets, especially if they were her own.
And, of course, Gavin responded in the way that only Gavin could. "Well, we're on the same page now, at least." Harper resisted the urge to roll her eyes - quite honestly she thought that she might actually be getting the hang of his behavior... but in that same instant, she dismissed the idea. No, she was sure that he would always do something that would throw her off yet again. It was a part of his mystery, part of the novelty that made him so special in Harper's eyes. And she sincerely hoped that he never lost it, because it always kept her guessing. It was probably just one of the many barbs that had snagged her heart and kept it close to him no matter what she did or where she went. Everything about him was just thrilling.
When she heard his laugh, his real laugh, not the cruel and cold one that she'd heard before, it made a grin spread across her own face. It only proved her point. It made her unexplainably happy that she'd been the one to bring it about, and she irrationally hoped that she would be the only one to make him smile like that. It was a selfish wish, but Harper had never claimed to be a saint. The sound of his laughter made her wish that she could hear it more often. In fact, she made a promise to herself that she would make him laugh as much as possible. But Gavin wasn't meant to be a comedian - he was meant to be different. That was how Harper saw it through her eyes, and she prayed to the gods that it would never change. She made a mental note to add his laugh as one of the many things that kept him a prominent part of her mind these days.
Gavin admitted he had a soft spot for her, and Harper's heart soared. It was probably somewhere on the same level as Gavin's. The only thing that was keeping her mind down on earth was the anchoring of his beautiful blue-green eyes and the feeling of his hands on hers. She smiled, and said, "Good thing you do, then, because I don't know how much bitterness I can handle on a daily basis." Then, she realized what she'd just said, and quickly backtracked. "I mean, I didn't want to upset you, and I... just.... sorry." Harper huffed, thinking that she probably just made a fool of herself.
Harper's smile couldn't possibly get any wider, but somehow it did. She squeezed his hands again, and when he pulled her closer, she wrapped her arms around his waist and looked straight up at him, brightness in her chocolate brown eyes. "Kind of," she admitted, half to herself, half to him. "Caring about someone is not wanting them to get hurt. This... this I think is something else. It's more powerful than that. Better than that, too. What you're describing is something special, because I have never felt this before." Special, she thought. She liked that word, it fit in a strange but satisfying kind of way. It described her and Gavin just right.
Harper allowed herself to release a giggle at the sound of Gavin's mutant laugh. She found herself falling for him even faster - it wasn't until now that she realized that she was really falling for him. Falling in... love. Her eyes widened, but she looked down for a moment so Gavin wouldn't see it. It was in her eyes, just how much she'd fallen. And it was deep, and hard. And just... everything that either set a love like this up for an ultimute rush or the ultimate failure. Harper prayed that it wouldn't be the latter. If it was, she wasn't sure how she'd survive. She wasn't sure how she could make it. So she was left to do one thing, and one thing only, and that was hope that this would work. Because at the rate her heart was surrendering to the power of the universe that was Gavin... there was no turning back now.
Harper stood up on her tiptoes, with another giggle, and kissed Gavin's jaw. "Yes," she agreed with that same mischievous smile on her face. "Very likeable indeed." The daughter of Apollo had quite honestly never felt this before in her entire life. Not even when she was admiring the cute French boys from her hotel room in Paris once. No, the butterflies in her stomach had turned into little lions prowling around. She looked up at Gavin, still looking mischievous. "How about me? Am I... likeable?" She emphasized her last word with a blinking of her eyes, and she smiled angelically up at him - joking around, of course.
