Cyrene walked into the cabin after she had some lunch alone at her table, she didn’t like eating alone sometimes, there was no one to talk to or make fun of someone with. She sat on her bed and took off her shoes, she seen that her toenails needed some serious painting. Walking over to her vanity, she pulled out green nail polish, then walked over to her mini fridge and pulled out some Dr. Pepper and a candy bar. Before she walked back to her bed, she turned on the stereo her CD played Eminem’s song Not Afraid, that suited her just fine. Then she walked back to her bed and started to paint her toenails and rapped to the music, she liked Eminem, he was the only rapper she could stand, she doesn’t know why. Once she was done, she capped back the polish and felt light headed, so she walked out to the back patio and took a deep breath of fresh air and the wind that blew.
Walking back in, she then heard Love The Way You Lie come on, this song was definitely was one of her favorites, just the storyline was good, she just hoped she’d never get into a relationship like that. Sitting back onto her bed and started to munch on her candy bar when she looked down at it and smiled, she loved chocolate so much and she loved that she could eat as much as she wanted and not gain a pound. As the stereo changed CD’s she heard it went onto her mixed CD she made herself, the song Half of My Heart by John Mayer was playing. Cyrene listened to all kinds of music but country music, that was the only kind she couldn’t stand! Come on, all they sing is how either, they feel in love, lost their dog, got cheated on, or about their baby girls. She never knew why all country songs contained baby girls, there were little boys too that would like some recognizing going on!
As Cyrene sang along to the song, she laid back on her bed and thought to herself that she needed a boyfriend or something, not having one was kinda killing her, of course no one would choose her, all the losers had one but her. She deserved one right? Right, she had to keep thinking that the gods have her path laid out, it may be mysterious, it may be weird and aggravating, but they always knew what they were doing.

There’s rumors going round about the new kid But either way at least its something new It had been an… interesting trip from the start. She had expected her father to take the time to come and see her off to this camp he’d been going on about. That had been the plan all along since Julia had agreed to go. But apparently something came up, some change in his schedule requiring him to make a trip overseas for meetings with potential business partners. So instead of her father she’d gotten Nicole and a limo. Her step mother, a reminder of why she was leaving. The limo, a reminder of what she was leaving behind. The luxury and glamour of her “normal” life. For what? Well, safety for one. No monsters trying to kill her. Siblings… That wasn’t a promised thing. She assumed that since her mother was the Goddess of Love and Beauty there would be plenty of people in the Aphrodite cabin, but who knew? They’d loaded Julia’s things into the trunk and the rest of the trip had been fairly uneventful. A few laughs over memories. Tears wiped away plenty long before they’d reached their destination.
Of course Nicole couldn’t pass through the barrier, so they had said their final goodbyes before Julia began the walk with her luggage towards the main area of camp. She’d made a few trips before being lucky enough to find a group of young men who were more than willing to help with carrying the luggage to the checkerboard deck. Julia’s hopes for siblings were dashed when they reached the cabin; only one bed was taken. Well hopefully they’d get along. Julia chose a bottom bunk, close enough to the door and directly by a window. Once she’d managed to get herself settled, complete with leaving a box from her father on her bed, Julia headed off to see some orientation she was expected at. She would open the box sometime after she got back. It was probably something to comfort her… A couple of boxes of her favorite candies, some new designer accessory… A token of goodbye for now.
And then finally it was time for her to move back to her cabin. To her pleasant surprise Julia could hear some music coming from the structure as she approached, a sign that someone was inside, which was confirmed as Julia got closer and could hear singing on top of the music. She smiled. Good, someone to interact with other than the young men who seemed enchanted when she walked by. Apparently that was what happened when your mother was Aphrodite. She laughed the idea away as the door came into view. Her eyes scanned the cabin, falling on the occupied bed as she stepped inside. ”Hi. I’m Julia. So… I guess we’re sisters.”
The other girl looked like someone Julia would associate herself with, so that was a good sign. And if they didn’t blend well together? Well, they were stuck with each other.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Cyrene heard someone come into the cabin and said that her name was Julia and they were sisters, she looked the girl up and down. She wasn’t bad looking at all, she was beautiful, she had blonde hair, had a good skin tone, a killer body, and nice looking designer clothes. Of course she was a child of Aphrodite, she had to be beautiful and one of the best looking, I’m Cyrene Drakos, nice to meet you, your not bad looking for an Aphrodite children, have you been gawked at? she asked already knowing the answer. Cyrene didn’t mind it much when she got here, she’s been used to it before she even knew about this camp, she liked being the center of attention. Getting up, Cyrene walked over towards Julia and walked around her, So I take it your father is rich? I guess Aphrodite has one taste in men, she probably likes to get expensive gifts from them. she said looking around the cabin. She hadn’t noticed that Julia’s stuff had been put by her bed, she guessed she was so used to being alone in the cabin, she didn’t need to pay attention to the space around it.
Cyrene walked over to the dresser that was near Julia’s bed and smirked, One thing that is a plus side of having two people, we get our own space, dresser, and vanity. she said putting her hand on the dresser and looked at her luggage, Do you need help unpacking anything? When I was here by myself it was boring and long. I didn’t know anyone, but some hot Hephaestus kids came and helped me after a while. You’ll love the attention of men around here, I know I do. she said flipping her long blonde hair. Talking about guys, that subject of actually finding one was crawling back into her thoughts, so she pushed them back and smiled up at Julia walking back to her bed again, So where are you from? I’m from Pismo Beach, California, nothing compared to here though. she said taking a long drink of her soda and looking at Julia.

Julia just stood as the other girl looked her up and down, no doubt making that initial decision about Julia that would stick for the rest of the time they knew each other. Cyrene, was it? Julia was certainly looking her over as well, making assumptions based off of the other girl’s looks and clothes. And so far she approved. ”Gawked at is an understatement.”
She smirked. It had been happening since she moved to New York though, she’d gotten quite used to it and had even grown to like the attention she got, the feeling of guys watching her as she walked through the halls of school. As Cyrene walked around her like some vulture from another planet Julia mirrored the turns, raising an eyebrow. ”Yeah, he is. He’s the head of an energy conglomerate. I guess she liked the yacht party he was throwing…” She smirked again. ”Same with your father?”Julia had just assumed that she’d get her own space at the camp, especially her own vanity and such. Otherwise she wouldn’t have anywhere to put everything she’d brought; though she had brought a couple of her own mirrors just to be safe. ”If you want to help me get everything unpacked then I wouldn’t complain.” She said, shrugging and unzipping one of the bags and starting to set clothes in the dresser. Another smirk crept onto her face as Cyrene mentioned the Hephaestus kids coming in to help her get settled. ”I had some help from a few of the young men to carry everything in, but I had to go before they could help get everything moved to where I wanted it. Maybe we can get the Hephaestus boys to help hang a few of the extra mirrors I brought.” Yeah, she’d definitely love the attention from the men of the camp. ”I guess Aphrodite likes guys from California then.” It was a bit strange, how similar the two were. Both blonde, both from California, both from affluent families. ”I’m originally from Atherton, California. My father and step-mother still live there, but I moved to New York for middle school. Until now I’ve been at a boarding school there, but I think I’ll always be a California girl at heart.” She ran a hand through her hair after laying out the sheets on her bed and laying down. ”So what does one do for fun around here?”[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Cyrene laughed at Julia’s response, That is true, they like to stare, my favorite is to come up to me and then they start to stutter so badly that it’s funny. she said chuckling a bit. There has been times where Cyrene couldn’t help but laugh at them, then the boy would just walk away and be embarrassed. Next time they should just come as a confident person and they wouldn’t be so scared, she was human after all, well Demi-God. When Julia told Cyrene about what her father does, she nodded her head, Oh nice a yacht party? My dad owns a whole long strip of dance clubs around L.A. and Pismo and stuff, so he rolls in the money too. Actually Aphrodite met my dad in one of her run down temples in Greece. she smiled to Julia. Cyrene loved to hear the story of how her parents met, but it’s always bittersweet because he is so engrossed to her that he never married another woman because he will always think that she’ll go back to him one day.
Nodding her head, Cyrene took some of Julia’s clothes and put them into her dresser, by looking at her wardrobe, she had excellent taste on what fashion designers would love to see on people. Loving to shop herself, Cyrene loves to shop at Gucci and other clothing lines that movie stars and singers shop at, unlike some that like to shop at Wal-Mart for their clothes, yuck. Cyrene laughed when she said some guys helped Julia with her luggage, That sounds like a good idea to me about that mirror, but watch out for those Ares kids, they may look hot, but they are a little too macho for me. she said waving her hand and smirking. Cyrene wasn’t much into Ares kids anyways, because her mother dates him and her even thinking about dating them is like gross, but Hephaestus is her husband too. Oh gods, lets just thank them that Demi-God hereditary genes are cancelled out so they can date around here.
Smiling brightly, she was glad to hear that they have one thing alike, they were both from California, hearing that she was from Cali but then she moved here to New York for school, Very cool! I don’t go to a boarding school thank the gods, I go to a public school. Do you have to wear dreaded uniforms? she asked Julia. Sitting on a chair by the vanity, Cyrene rain her hair through her curly hair, Well nothing really to tell you the truth, I’m pretty well with a bow, so I go to the Archery pit, but then after that I just sit around and check out all the guys, as they love to look at me also. Well now us since you’re here, now there’s two Aphrodite girls to look at. she said eyeing her and laughing.

”It’s not a bad thing, don’t get me wrong.”
She smirked. But she kind of saw where the boys were coming from. To them she must seem like a Goddess. In reality she was only half of that. She smirked at that, at the thought of them going back to their parents and being reassured that Julia was only human. She was sure boys from her school had tried to explain it to friends, the effect she’d had on them… It was kind of adorable when she thought about it. ”That sounds fun. I don’t really know much about how my parents met… Other than the yacht party thing.” Her dad really didn’t talk about it too often, it made Nicole feel weird knowing she wouldn’t live up to the Goddess of Love no matter how often James assured her that he loved her. ”Thanks.” She nodded towards the clothes Cyrene was putting away, glad she was able to bring everything she had wanted. She had been afraid they were going to limit her to a certain amount of luggage, that she would have to pick and choose through her wardrobe. But she wouldn’t have been able to bear that. Heck, most of the clothes she had with her still had tags on them, they’d never seen the world other than the boutiques and Julia’s closet. ”Really? The Ares kids seem really… Really attractive.” She smirked. ”I mean, can’t love do something to tame those nasty tempers of theirs?” Even if the Ares boys didn’t work out she was sure there were plenty of other demi-gods who looked good enough without shirts. She rolled her eyes when Cyrene asked about the uniforms. ”Yeah. The uniforms are horrible, but if you get creative you can make them look much better. A few stitches here, an accessory or two there… Well apparently I did enough to get the attention of the boys in my school.” Ugh. Archery? That didn’t sound like any sort of fun. No sort of weaponry sounded fun. ”So do we have to learn how to fight? Because, honestly, scars don’t really work with me. I mean, they look good on some guys, but not on me.” No, sun tanning seemed like a much better idea than learning how to handle a sword. In fact there were about 100 things that Julia could list as being more fun than learning how to handle a sword. Maybe she could use the arts time she had been told they’d be subjected to in order to introduce some of the daughters of Ares to use makeup… [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Oh I love goin to the clubs with my friends, I asked my father to build one for 18 and younger so they could have fun too, but that hasn’t stopped me from going into the 21 and older clubs too. she said winking at Julia. It was true, Cyrene loved going to the older clubs because of the men, she loved older men than the boys her age, just something about them, plus they are better to manipulate than the kids sometimes too. Frowning at Julia she looked at her, Why don’t you ask your Dad? Doesn’t hurt asking sometimes. she said to her. Sometimes asking did hurt….most of the time.
Cyrene laughed out loud and shook her head, Oh yes they are very attractive and I don’t think so about the love part. There is one guy here named Ryan Simons, and he’s no getting through to. I’ve tried when I first came here. But have you seen the Apollo kids? They are hot too. she said looking at her nails and then at her bed. Ryan was just a guy who you couldn’t talk to sometimes, he was just so mean…well Cyrene’s mean too, but still. She made a yuck face when Julia said the uniforms were horrible, Well good thing you and me know a sense of fashion, those school board people do not. And it’s always good to get attention from it. she said smirking at Julia.
Oh trust me, neither do I, that’s why I chose Archery, so I don’t have to pick up a sword and get a chance cutting myself. Or getting my head chopped off. she said holding her hands to her neck and laughed. They say that they want you to, cause of the monsters if you go out for a quest or leave the camp when the summer is over. But I don’t really listen much, arrows are better, you can shot long distance. she said waving to her beautiful bow. Cyrene looked at her legs and seen that they were a little light from her complexion, I usually like to go sunbathing or surfing when the waves are pretty good at Fireworks Beach. Or do other things we’re not allowed to do. she said smirking mischievously at Julia.

”Sounds fun. Getting into the clubs in New York City isn’t too hard when you can charm a bouncer into letting you pass. Fake I.D.s aren’t even that important. I guess it’s a perk of being who we are.”
Maybe her father couldn’t give her a club to party in, but at least she had the money from him to buy off bouncers if that flirting technique didn’t work. ”My father doesn’t like talking about it around my step-mother… I mean, she’s pretty and all and they love each other but she knows that she certainly isn’t Aphrodite. It makes her uncomfortable and I really don’t see them separately that often.” But the two made each other happy, so Julia was fine not really knowing much about her father’s tryst with Aphrodite. Maybe she could find out if she ever met the Goddess in person. ”That is quite unfortunate. I’ll have to check out those Apollo boys though, I’m sure they’re all hot little rays of sunshine.” The joke was a little corny, but Julia laughed at it. She laughed again when Cyrene spoke about school uniforms again. Really they weren’t too bad, and she didn’t have to wear it when she wasn’t at school… And they were allowed trips out into the city if they weren’t busy with their schoolwork. Plus she was allowed to put on her cheerleading outfit for practice and games and such, which was certainly a change from the uniform. ”Archery?” She raised her eyebrow, thinking. Maybe that wouldn’t be too bad. ”Well then I might check that out. And honestly I think a bow and quiver make for better accessories than a sword and shield. And long-distance sounds good, less of a chance of a monster getting near me.” She looked at Cyrene’s bow, which just backed up her idea about bows being a better accessory than the other weapons. ”Sunbathing! I’ve missed that. There just isn’t enough sun in the city sometimes. And what other things are we not allowed to do?” She asked, her eyebrow arching in question again.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Cyrene laughed when she said getting into clubs were easy, Oh yes! I always charm people to get what I want, but have a fake I.D. just in case it’s a woman. Some of them are so catty, they’re just jealous of my looks. she said tossing her hair back and giggling. Nodding her head, Cyrene listened to her half sister. Cyrene couldn’t tell her that she related to her feelings about her step-mother because she doesn’t have a mom, cause of her weird father. Yeah? Well couldn’t you just ask your father that’d you like some time alone with him so you could talk about it? she asked Julia. Looking over at the mirror, she seen a curl that was out of sync with the others, so she twirled it into another curly strand and put it with the others.
Smiling, she remembered Jason, the guy that she met at the lake, they had a real connection. He was a child of Apollo. Oh yes the are little rays of sunshine, but you have to watch out for the girls, they are fiesty little things. Very easy to make fun of. she said smiling mischievously. As she laughed at Julia’s joke, she remembered Jason and kinda missed him. But they don’t match up to men I’ve seen in Pismo, there was this one guy who looked like he could be a sculpted God, but he wasn’t….that I knew of. she said thinking it for a moment and then let it go.
Yeah archery. It isn’t too bad. And your right, they do make good accessories. she said getting up and heading towards her vanity. She picked up a little designer purse and walked back over to Julia, Now here is my bow, and this, she said taking out the lipstick tubes inside, is my arrows. Now if you put them back in like this. And you press this button here, you get a bow and arrows. she said as she held up her bow and quiver of arrows. I can take it with me and put my make up and such in it, then it holds it also when I have to fight a monster. she said smiling at her sister.
