Blinded by your rays of life
Gave us the strength we needed
After all that time, stuck in a windowless room with only her creature as a companion, it was a wonder why Hecate hadn’t jumped at the first moment to strike against the ones who had imprisoned the minor gods and Titians away. Maybe it was the fact that she had permission to leave her room, while the others were locked away. No matter what the reason, the tiniest bit of her, the little conscious that she had grown as the years went by, had started to dig at every evil act that happened. Of course, she would never admit this little voice scared her, it may even ruin her as a Goddess if it had its way. The damn dog had always sensed it, was now a part of the cruel joke that was being played on her. But that didn’t help the situation at hand. Hecate glanced back at Alex, the nervous were shown in the way he kept glancing between the enemy and her. She couldn’t really blame him, after all, the poor kid wasn’t use to all this Behind the Veil stuff. Well, no one was really use to it, expect the Immortals themselves, but even then, every now and then it did get a bit daunting. There was always something funny about waking up in the middle of night to find that someone was snoring at the end of the bed, be it human or not. Wondering whether or not they had snuck in or had been invited. Normally the dog was sent to his little bed at the entrance to her room, but she did sometimes wake up with all three heads breathing in her face. Red meat breath isn’t very nice, to wake up to. Hecate could feel a small smile play at her lips, but it dropped when the staring started to freak out Alex slightly. The dog at her feet, sensed the slight distress and every single hair on his back stood up, all three heads lowered to the ground, trying to pick up the scent of the creatures. There was a dark light that crossed the sky for a brief moment as Hecate eased a little of the magic kept for the gods, to her creature to help it figure out what they would be facing in the very near future. Zeus would sense the drain, no doubt about that, but Hecate did hope he would ignore it, just for her sake. “Hey, it’s going to be okay. They’re probley been told by their overruling lord or lady to search for unclaimed Demi’s and thought you were one of them. Have you come into contact with any Demi-gods in the past couple of days? Because they can probley smell another Demi-God on you.” she explained gently, the lie slipping in her speech, easy to spot of needed. Okay, maybe she lied about them only picking on him because of the Demi-God thing, but they were searching for someone, that was for sure. Hecate nibbled on her lip for a while, letting her Dog do its job while the staring continued. There was a brief moment of silence after his mutter, and she closed her mouth just as another observation came to mind. Enough of the negative stuff, need to think of something positive. she thought, tapping the head of her dog. “I’m going assume that I pissed some god off, and they want composition for it... Do they look the works of Ares? I do remember insulting his tactics the last time we talked. Or maybe it’s the Fates, warning me not to mess with anyone else? Who knows.”
Okay she had to admit it to someone, whoever came up with the Immortal’s names really needed a good kick in the bum. “The Distant One” Come on, that was totally not Hecate, and not even the good side was distant. Some of the names were pretty bad, not only were they now hard to pronounce, but they had the makings of the new Era. The biggest downfall had to be the fact that despite the originality of their names, mortals had started to copy them. Despite the fact it was pretty cool to have someone name their child after you; the Immortal couldn’t shock anyone with their name like they did back with the Greeks. Tough love for the Womanisers and Manisers out there. Hecate smiled gently, despite the true nature of the information, the Goddess had helped Nyx change history a tad bit, so it looked like it was just the women doing all the work. Of course, some weren’t happy, but hey, Mortals are Mortals. Some things just had to happen; Hecate had made sure that her companions were slightly in debt with her, just in case she needed them. Never vice versa, who knows what the other Immortals could use her debt for. Hecate laughed a little, scratching the dog’s main head with her left hand, slightly more affectionate than normal. The Dog didn’t complain at all, just smiled up at Alex and winked at him. “It is pretty confusing; We would be surprised if you understood it to a T. Even we get confused with the relationships, especially the cousin things. By the Gods its a silly family tree.” the dog murmured to Alex, his owner giving him the chance to speak allowed. There was a line Hecate would cross before she let the creature do anything stupid, even if it was talking out loud. Sometimes the best thing to do was let the child have their fun before the parent took hold of the reins again. Hecate glanced from her creature back to Alex and her heart sank a little, her creature was going to get just as much attached to the mortal, as she had. It didn’t seem fair that she would have to betray more than one kid for the greater cause, but in the end what was really three kids? Okay, The Goddess had to think the whole thing over before she would decide whether or not to peruse the matter. Defiantly a tough call to make. “There she goes again, trying to scare the very few people who aren’t scared of this three headed dog. Probley jealously don’t you agree Alex?” the dog asked, each of the three heads grinning from ear to hear. Hecate crossed her arms in a amused way, shaking her head with a wicked smile. What was she to be jealous of, the fact that she didn’t get the three heads that most thought she did? Or maybe it was the ability to scare the living daylights out of poor mortals? The Goddess sniggered a little at the thought of them switching places, she knew the creature would be doing the opposite to her, and maybe that was the right thing to do, but not the best thing. “No harm in that dear. I do think they would find it more insulting if you did accidently call them a girl. Although I do bet that we would all have a little laugh at that.” she explained a small smile twitching at her lips. Hecate could feel the energy slowly pulling at her core, reminding her how quickly it was to drain. Like the Goddess needed reminding that her powers were slowly deteriorating as the day wore on. Maybe it was true that taking the darker side meant that she was better at night, but that was seriously no excuse for not being able to work well in the day. Was she not the three faced power source of the Underworld that even Zeus found useful? Lets not forget the Queen of the Spirits thing. Hecate felt her lips form a small smile at the title, not only was it a overstatement, but she had little to do with the Spirits against her Lord Hades, he was god of the Underworld after all.
“Alex, a question if I may,” she murmured, pushing past a few people to take the bench before a bunch of young kids. Hecate led her creature and the Mortal towards the rusted bench, and sat gently on it, her dog stationed itself beside her. It had been nagging on her from the first moment she agreed to the small treaty between her colleges. “You do seem like a bright kid, and I’m not sure my fellow Immortals would understand my question.... You know the Olympians who are the highest of the Immortals, and then you’ve got the smaller and less known ones who may look weaker but are getting stronger as the months trickle past. My question is this: If I believe one side had a better idea for the world and its residents, and then decided to support them in their descent to the thrones, does that make me a bad person, even if its for the right reasons?” she asked, her hands resting in her lap limply. The creature gave her a funny look, a mixture of concern and amusement, something that would look funny on anyone. Of course, the beast had warned her about the tide of emotions that would come, so soon after phase one of her plan. It just really didn’t seem fair that the creature was always right, especially when it came to stuff like this. Hecate looked away from Alex and back at the three women opposite, the main one had some sort of wild hair going for her, a slight amused chuckle came from the dog beside her. The Goddess purist her lips a little, and she nibbled on them, the same way she taught her niece. The thought of her niece ripped at the scare the ran down her heart, the betrayal of trust and faith was still hard to bare. Hecate glanced back at Alex and couldn’t hide the smile that only a mother had. “Such a pity, a smart boy like you won’t have any trouble finding a girl. A small bit of advice with that too, do steer clear of the Love Goddess, she may seem harmless, but be warned, get her pissed and you’ll wake up regretting you had ever heard her name. But onto a more happier note, if I wasn’t day time, I could give you a little sneak peak of your future, a brief 30 seconds. Thank Zeus for the slight adjustment in my powers.” she couldn’t help the bitterness that covered her voice.
