~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sophie was glad to be out of camp. It had been a month since she had been to New York in a while but this trip was different. She had a friend with her this time. A friend she really liked. Maybe more then a friend. Yeah defiantly that. They had met a week or two ago and had gotten really close. They act and just seemed closed and the same. Honestly it had been a long while since she felt this. The butterflies in stomach. Once in a while, her mind turning to goo. Running a hand threw her hair, as the breeze brushed it. “So this is Manhattan?” she thought to herself. Last time she was here it was the middle of a war.
The last time she was in New York was at the begging of the month and that had only been a few days before coming back to camp. Her father did warn her about a monster with One Green one Brown eye. It was a…shoot was that name… oh yeah a manticore! It took her awhile but she finally took it down. A little help from Apollo and Artemis. Thanks the gods at least Artemis probably listened to her prayers once and awhile. Honestly, if it weren’t for Hayden, she would join her aunt and the hunt.
The weather was perfect. Not to hot or cold. It was like the weather at the lake, when they shared it. It took her back to that day. The day they had met. She really hopped nothing bad happened on this trip would screw everything up. After all there was only two of them. But luckily she had everything she needed. Once again she had packed the necessities. Flashlights, though honestly Sophie didn’t need one, ambrosia, nectar, a wrap, gold drachmas and mortal cash. Just the usual odds and ends you would take on a trip outside a camp.
“This is fun,” she smiled to Hayden as they walked down the streets of the city. “I’m glad you suggested the trip.” she smiled a little, again. “Um so where exactly are we heading?” Sophie wondered out loud. Honestly she didn’t care as long as she could travel with someone. The last trip she was on was lonely and not good at all. She rather be with a friend -or more then friend- like she was on now. It was like he had read her mind form the last time, as she wished he was there. It was great and she wouldn’t change it for the world. Well as of right now.
This was his first real trip to Manhatten, excluding when he landed here on his flight from London. (Which on a sidenote, was not a fun flight.) In all honesty, it didn't seem all that enticing so far. Hayden had seen plenty of interesting places to visit, and well he had picked up some generic book for tourists on the way into town which listed a whole bunch of things to do. Some sounded a little strange, such as a store with palm readers and tarot cards. He wasn't much of a believer in those sorts of things, but they sounded vaguely interesting even if they were a bunch of bull. The tourist guide was something he didn't really find necessary, but he had mainly bought it for the map at the back. He didn't really want to get lost in such a big city. That would possibly mean running into a monster or two, and the only weapon Hayden had on him was a dagger. Which was probably a bad idea itself, but the demigod hadn't wanted to go into town completely unarmed. Reason being, that Sophie couldn't exactly bring a bow and arrow with them, and he didn't want her to get hurt.
His dagger, he supposed, wasn't exactly a dagger. It was more of a jackknife that he could flip shut so that it fit perfectly in one of his pockets. He was wearing a pair of khaki shorts, and the black knife fit snuggly into his left front pocket. It was in a perfect spot if he needed to grab it quickly. Which Hayden found that possibility unlikely, but still possible. The rest of his apparel was just as simple and comfortable. It included a pair of worn down brown sandals, and a forest green t-shirt. It wasn't exactly date worthy, but the boy didn't really think this was a date anyways. Sure, he wished it was a little, but he had already assumed that it wasn't.
Though, as on a date, he didn't intend on letting Sophie pay for anything if he could help it. That was the exact reason why he had brought along a sizeable amount of money, and well one of the debit cards that his father had sent him. The same father who basically tried to buy Hayden with money. This was really the only time that that actually paid off. Besides this time, Hayden really hated that his father only acknowledged him when he was paying him off.
Hayden nodded, a wide, genuine smile practically stuck on his face. He was glad that at least she was having fun, even though so far they hadn't done much. "I'm glad that you decided to come with me," Which he was, well actually no he wasn't. He was practically ecstatic, but luckily that was disguised by his unique shyness. "Well, honestly, I hadn't planned all that far ahead. Anywhere you want to visit, or do you just kind of want to explore and see what we find?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sophie was grateful to have some company this time around. Not that she didn’t love the company of her bow. Defiantly had to remember to thank her father one day for it. The collapsible bow and arrows were perfect for her. As if by magic you can store them bow perfectly in a backpack. They even seem to be attached to the back where you could grab it easy less then two seconds. To bad she couldn’t handle a sword it could have been easier. But oh well Sophie loved her golden brown bow and arrows. Always at the thought of these, Sophia thought highly of her father and decided to start giving him a bit more credit then she had been. Though with her bow it was easier to protect just herself. But for Hayden or anyone else she cared about, she would protect them over herself.
Manhattan seemed huge and seemed like it would take awhile to just see a few places. There were so many museums and theaters and huge places she had not ever heard of. Where ever they were headed Sophie was headed for anything. Wearing her usual -jeans, faded and worn black converse, a white t-shirt and her jacket tied around her waist- she was ready for anything. *So where to…* she thought it this time. Honestly, she really hoped they didn’t have a certain time they had to be back. Surly when she had to get ready to leave to go on Harper’s quest, she would certainly get an Iris message to get back, right? Right. After all she remembered she already talked to Harper and Harp would let her know.
So where they, she and Hayden like together now? Maybe? Not even Sophie knew. But if not that was alright. Though it would probably hurt Sophia a little she would not let it get to her. Being friends were always better then being boyfriend/ girlfriend right? Sophie just kept thinking that, even if the thought of other couples bothered her for some reason. Oh well those negative thoughts she was not going to let bother her on this trip. Okay when it comes so smiles Hayden’s was the best. At least she thought so. There was not a whole lot of people who could pull of the semi-crooked smile. Lucky for Sophie, she was able to hid a blush pretty well. Especially about his comment that he was glad to have her along. “Exploring sounds good to me. Any ideas of where to start?” she asked looking at him.

Where should they start was an excellent question. A question that Hayden couldn't really answer. Honestly, even if he had come on his own, he still probably wouldn't have had any idea where to go. Pleasing Sophie was a different matter entirely. They'd only had one conversation, and he hadn't learned about her hobbies or interests. Well besides archery and swimming in the lake. He could probably find something similar to the both, but he would rather do something that wasn't an option at the Camp. There was the mall which girls normally liked, but it didn't seem as though Sophie was the type for shopping and fawning over make-up and accessories. A museum? That was a possibility, but he wasn't sure if she was a fan of walking around in near silence, staring at some pieces that were more-or-less considered art. He was neutral on the idea, not exactly liking museums, but not hating them either.
"We can just start, right here." He grinned, hesitantly reaching over and taking her hand with his own. The hold was gentle enough so that she could easily drop his hand if she so wished. At first he didn't think much of his own action, it seemed almost natural, and familiar to him. The boy considered apologizing, but he wasn't sure whether or not he should. To apologize, or not? Another good question: Should he pull his hand away? In all honesty, he didn't want to. The soft feeling of her hand was nice against his own slightly calloused hand. One simple action was starting to raise a lot of questions and debate in his mind. How other guys were able to pull this off he had no idea whatsoever.
In the end, his hand remained holding Sophie's as he set a leisurely pace for them to walk at. When they came to a street corner, he chose to turn to their left. All of his future choices would obviously be random since they really had no specific intention of getting anywhere. One thing that he was sure of was that he'd definately have to take Sophie out for lunch and maybe ice cream afterwards. The ice cream part would be kind of difficult considering that he had no idea where anything was in this town. Even if he pulled out the guide book's map, he still found it unlikely that there was a list of 'Manhatten's Best Ice Cream Parlors'. "Seeing anything worth stopping for?" Hayden asked, looking over at Sophie. He hadn't really been paying much attention, because he'd been trying to figure out the best way to find a place with good ice cream.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Manhattan was a place of choices and new beginnings. At least that’s what a flyer said as she past it. In a way that was a bit true. A war began and ended here. After helping in the middle of the war, that’s were she was introduced to camp. Things here still seemed just as crazy with restaurants, museums, parks and such. Darn mortal world. Why couldn’t they open there eyes, stop and look around at the beautiful world around them. Honestly Sophie was a bit jealous of her father. The light of his sun, touching the ground as far as he could see. She would truly love that. Traveling the world by sun. Now that would be an adventure worth getting into. It seemed Hayden liked to travel too. Well um at least they had something in common, right?
She looked to him, wondering where he was talking about. Mentle BANG Sophie hid the shock inside of her as he took her hand. True it felt really nice and once again butterflies flew around in her stomach like crazy. *No… I’m not going to say nor thinking it.* she thought to herself, hiding a blush well, after smiling a bit. Not even thinking, as his holding her hand gentle, she gripped hers into his. In a more formal holding of hands. The way couples would but she didn’t even think that way at this time. A song popped into her head. Darn it. *No…I won’t say I’m in Love.* she thought quoting one of her so called theme songs.
Okay, did he even know where he was going? Surly that had to be a male thing right? Not stopping to ask directions? Oh well at all honestly if they got lost, she didn’t think she would really care. As looking around she saw actually many couples around, just enjoying the day. Wow Sophie would have loved growing up in a big city. Not the small town of Greenville, Illinois was worth living in either. But that was just in the fall when the leaves changed colors. But then again she guessed it was the same as here in there parks. “Um to be honest, I’m not sure. I was sort of zoning out, taking in the sites…sorry,” she replied looking back at him. There she goes apologizing again.
Apparently neither of the pair seemed to be taking into consideration where they wanted to go next. Which was a little unhelpful, but not to the point where it mattered. They had all the time in the world if they needed it. Well not really, but they still had quite a lengthy period of time. "That's alright, I was doing the exact same thing." Hayden smiled politely. Well, that wasn't really true. He'd been taking in one very specific site that was not special to Manhattan. Not that the aforementioned site wasn't special, she just wasn't a permanent feature in the city. He personally considered himself lucky that she was more of a permanent feature of the camp, considering he found Sophia Greene the most beautiful site within miles.
A sharp twist in the boy's stomach reminded him that he had skipped breakfast. Maybe lunch or possibly just ice cream would have to be pushed up. Normally he didn't skip breakfast, but in his excitement food hadn't really been the first thing on his mind. And unfortunately Hayden was one of those boys who seemingly had three stomachs. He just never really got full, so it was probably for the best that he got as much exercise as demigods did. And it was also lucky that he had a high metabolism.
"Do you mind if we stop for something to eat?" He smiled sheepishly, gesturing at the independently owned diner that they were almost to. It looked cute from the outside and the inside didn't look shabby either. In fact it seemed like a very nice place to have, what could be considered, brunch. "We can plan out where to go while I eat a late breakfast?" Hayden suggested, his English accent less prominent than usual. There was also the slightest of a red tinge in his cheeks which was no doubt a result of the embarassment he felt at the moment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was so lovely here. The warm sun shining through all the colors of late summer weather. The people and their different languages were just as beautiful. Famous outliners of outfits and just people in general. It was all just to good to be real. Sophia loved hearing the languages of others as well. In New York, who knows what you would run into. She heard Mexican, a little bit of French and of course American. Even New York had its own accent of some kind. The one she loved the most though, she had only heard from one voice here. British. There was just something about it she couldn’t even explain.
She felt lucky to have a certain piece of camp with her. It made her feel not so lonely, like the last time she came to camp. As her bright brown eyes met his own, she looked away with a smile. Time seem to have stopped, like it had that morning. Honestly she didn’t get to sleep until late, through her excitement. After telling a couple of the girls in the cabin why she was packing, they got excited as well and started asking several questions. Most of them Sophie couldn’t answer. Why? She didn’t know how to answer them. She was one for telling the truth.
It was true that she was hungry too. She loved food, but seeing as she was like a stick and only weighing in at about 112 you couldn’t tell. Sophie always had something on her. But since they were in the city now, she thought maybe they should save the food until they wouldn’t be able to get any. She saw the diner that he pointed out. It looked cute and safe. Then again, things that look cute and safe for demi-gods were never cute nor safe. Shaking that thought from her mind, mentally she looked at him and smiled a little. “No, I don’t mind. Truth be told I’m a little hungry myself.” she replied as they walked to the shop. Her thoughts were on three thoughts at once. Food, actually taking out her notebook being OCD and actually planning everything out, and her and Hayden.
Her and Hayden actually going into a little cute shop, talking, going to get food… was this a date? Um no comment? Heck she didn’t know, she had never been on one. Yeah she had dated Aaron for about three weeks before he left and supposedly died somewhere but still they didn’t go anywhere. *Okay according to Adonia and Harper, I have to play it cool. Just be myself. Sure um that was easy enough, right?* she randomly thought to herself.

Hayden would have swapped New York for the plain outdoors anyday. Sure the city could be pretty when looking at it from a certain view, but the sky here was blurred by the gray smog resulting from cars and factories. At Camp the sky was a pure, clear blue, and unaffected by any man-made structures. Skyscrapers were interesting architectually, but he didn't really care like the Athena kids did. Not that there was anything wrong with their interest in architecture, it was just that he didn't share the same enthusiasm.
The city had a bigger diversity in people than at camp though. The majority of the campers were all American, a few foreigners mixed in, him included in that small minority. He didn't mind though, they were all nice people, well not all of them. But a good majority of them were. For example, most of the Apollo, Athena, and Demeter kids were nice [One of the Apollo girls, he found nicer than the others.] Some of the Aphrodite kids weren't as nice, and most of the Ares kids probably didn't even know the definition of the word nice or polite.
"Awesome-sauce," He smiled, jokingly quoting her own made-up word that she taught him at the lake. Hayden didnt think he could pull off the word as well as she could, because his accent made the word sound very funny. Approaching the diner, he pulled open the door. After politely holding it open for Sophie, he followed in after. There was almost a spring in his step this week, that was seemingly permanent so long as Sophie was around. A small sign indicated that they should seat themselves, and a waiter would come up to their table. "Table or booth?" He inquired, taking in the selection of seating options. His chivalry was not uncommon, or reserved for Sophie, even though he did find that she deserved it more than most. It was one of those things that he did out of habit, well that, and because he wanted to. He enjoyed being a nice person, it was a good dose of positivity that was refreshing to him.
"I have a question, if you don't mind that is?" Hayden half-stated/half-asked. It was an impulse thing, and now he wasn't really sure if he could change his mind about it. He was almost half hoping that Sophie would say that she'd rather not hear out his question. The question being; Was this a date? Because he honestly wasn't sure. He wanted it to be, but he didn't want to assume it was and make himself look like a fool.

Okay so the city was really not as pretty as camp was but it still seemed very beautiful in her eyes. Especially when it would be at night fall. The lights. Being a daughter of Apollo, that is what lit her eyes up the most. Sun light, firework lights anything bright and colorful in light form would do. The way the sun shown brightly off the many windows making them shine. Same way it did off of other people’s eyes, even seemed beautiful. Specially one pair of eyes in particular.
By the way of people’s eyes you could also tell what type of personality they had. Or at least she thought so. She noticed a couple, when she and Hayden had stopped for a moment. They seemed to have some bit of argument over something the guy had done. It had been a few minutes, but all seemed well in the end after he had kissed her, after Sophie and Hayden had walked by. It was strange the way people acted. Though Sophie didn’t understand what romance that was all about. She was just confused. Was crushes, love and dating really that complicated? She prayed to the gods that it wasn’t.
Sophie smiled back as he used one of her words and she loved the way he said it. It seemed to her that everything sounded better in an accent. As they approached the diner she was about to go ahead to get the door to enter, but Hayden seem to beat her to it. As he held the door she smiled and told him “Thanks,” trying to keep her voice even and not sound a bit nervous. Honestly she was not sure where it had came from all of a sudden. She never got nervous, so this was all new to her and she was a little determined to find out why. “It doesn’t matter to me. You pick,” she smiled. When it came to little decisions, she hated it, not able to make up her mind.
As Sophie looked around the diner she noticed a man at a table reading the paper and taking a drink of his coffee. As she got a peak out of the corner of his eye, he seemed to smile. A familiar presence seem to fill the room. *Eros? Here? But why of all places would he be here?* she thought to herself. But that couldn’t have been him unless he was in disguise. She had met Lord Eros once out in the forest of camp and remembered that he said he would have something for her the next time they were eye to eye… Hayden’s voice brought her back from her thoughts. A question? “Um okay, what is it?” she asked curious.

Hayden had officially decided what his favorite thing in the world was. Usually he had trouble picking favorites because there were just so many brilliant things out there, but this was easy. With no competition, Sophie's adorable little smile was by far his favorite thing to see. It was easily the brightest thing for miles, and that was impressive considering all of the neon signs and such in Manhattan. It wasn't annoying like the neon signs, but if anything it was enticing. Her sun-tanned skin contrasted with her bright, white smile making her that much more beautiful. He assumed that her color was a result of who her father was, while his own was from spending countless hours outdoors, wandering around the camp.
In all honesty, he was starting to get bored with Camp Half-Blood. The same activities were repeated day after day, and nothing was new about them. People could try out the lava on the climbing wall for something new and challenging, but Hayden already did that everytime that he climbed it. He was all about challenging himself, whether it was in academics back home or in activities here in the United States.
"No problem," The demigod smiled in response. It seemed to him that their happiness should have almost been infectious, but the people in the small diner made it seem otherwise. There were only a few people in it, and most of them were either alone and drinking a morning cup of coffee, or there were the few that were sitting in groups. Though, none of these people appeared to be in a positive mood. All of them were either frowning or they looked bored out of their minds. Not a happy day in Manhattan apparently, well except for Hayden and Sophie it was.
Hayden opted for a booth since apparently it didn't seem to matter to the girl. He chose one by the windows, where there was a bright ray of sun splashed across the table. The booth provided privacy, which he didn't really know if they needed it, but it was always nice to have it as an option. Yet the position also allowed for the warm sun, which he wasn't going to protest. He pulled two menus out of stand at the edge of the booth, and offered one to Sophie.
"Is this a...Um...Well.." He didn't really want to ask the question, but for his own sanity, he needed to know. He just didn't want there to be an awkward embarrassing feeling that lasted the rest of the day if she answered no. Although it was probable that his stuttering also made him sound like a total moron, which wasn't helping his case in this being a date. "Is this-- a date?" There, the question was out there. Whether or not it would lead to that awkward feeling, he didn't know.

Okay this honestly had to be the best day in Sophie’s life. Ever since she grew up, of knowing who her father was, fighting and getting away from monsters, school and training, training (oh did I mention training?) Yes this had to be her best day ever. It was so relaxing and wonderful! A lot of it though she thought it all had to do with Hayden being with her. Here. She was glad and happy, about time in a long time if you would have asked. Of course she always had fun training with her bow but she did that everyday. Another reason why this day was good and relaxing. No practice. Well she hoped she wouldn’t have to use it.
Ever since she picked up a bow at a young age for a school team or what not, that has been the only thing she had been doing. Camp was no different. Since she really couldn’t do anything else -and believe her when she said she has tried everything- she has been practicing non-stop with her bow. Now she was at a break. Surprisingly for her, she liked it.
Sophie found her self falling. Falling hard. That was not literally of course, but falling for him. True this was not the first time she was falling for Hayden…actually it was when they had met. As he spoke ordinary words, although they did not feel, for what she had not felt before. He didn’t have to say a word and she still could feel her self mentally melt. In heart and mind. He seemed to good to be true… as they took a seat in a booth, she smiled. Mostly it was because of the sun, shining in on them and from being easily warmed by it. Sophie didn’t mind the sad faces of the people around them, much. She was just to distracted by a certain guy sitting across from her…she smiled a thanks as she was taking the menu offered by him.
She began -but hid it well- to get very nervous now, as she sat waiting for his question. Her hands in her lap, that looked like they were fighting with each other. “Is this a...Um...Well..” he seemed to be hesient as well. Soph honestly was not going to hold in the fact that she actually like liked him anymore. Though she was told and taught to never say it first, she was not able to hold it in anymore. Before she could say anything he finally spoke it. “Is this-- a date?” Wow. And not wow from the question, wow from the way he said it. He sounded, or at least she thought he sounded like he was hopeful. Not meaning to, but not helping it she ended up playing the shy card, by hiding a bit of blush, look down doing it and playing with the ends of her long brown hair. “Well…if its okay with you…I maybe thought that… um why do you think I was being nervous…around you…?” she finally replied not looking up.

Besides the fact that Apollo was Sophie's father, Hayden could also appreciate the fact that Apollo was generous enough to give them the gift of the sun's warmth. It made this near perfect day, even closer to perfect. He personally didn't believe in perfection, but if anything was close to it then it was this day. The experience, the person he was with, and the weather was all brilliant. The only thing that could ruin it would be a monster, and it seemed highly unlikely. Usually he had a gut feeling about these types of things, and his gut was telling him that they wouldn't run into any trouble.
He personally wouldn't mind a thunderstorm either. In his opinion, thunderstorms were always a good thing. He enjoyed watching the lightning, and listening to the thunder. And he especially liked the icey chill of the rain, and the scent that it brought. The boy found it appealing for some reason. Most people would have suspected that from his personality, he would have been all about sunshine, but somehow he just preferred the cold. Snow, sleet, rain, anything. Fall was his favorite season because it was never freezing, but it also wasn't scorching hot.
Hayden smiled in response to Sophie's own small smile. Glancing down, he flipped open his small menu, browsing over the options for the lunch side of the menu. They were somewhat limited because it seemed to be a small owned business, but he wasn't all that picky about what he ate. Coffee was what he needed. Oddly it actually seemed to calm him, and decrease the effects of his ADHD. Caffeine was basically like an addiction for him. Especially Mountain Dew, but it seemed a little too early in the morning for that. Well actually, anytime was a good time for him, but he figured it best not to dive right into the sugar right now.
The demi-god could deal with rejection, but in this case he wasn't sure how well he would hold up. Luckily he didn't have to figure that out because she seemed a little shy about the situation herself. She didnt finish all, but one of her sentences. Yet all of the beginnings sounded hopeful. As Sophie turned her attention downward to the table, Hayden slouched and tilted his head just enough so that he could maintain eye contact with her. "Well I guess I just didn't want to assume, in case that would make me look like an idiot and all," He smiled sheepishly, brushing his hair out of his face nervously. "So does this mean that I can consider this a date, because I'd like to, if that's okay.."

Okay this all seemed to be to perfect. The sun was warm, they seemed to not be bothered by anyone, they both seemed happy and there hadn’t been a single attack by a monster. The monster thing was a real shock to her. It had been at least a couple hours after they had left camp and there was no attack at all. Knowing her luck she would at least be kept in eye on by someone, other then the person she was with. She kept silently praying that nothing would ruin this day, and so far it was working.
Okay menu time…well maybe? This was a problem with demi-gods. Yeah being a demi-god was defiantly complicated. Monsters, ADHD and yeah all that jazz. “So um yeah…any ideas on how we are suppose to order anything?” she muttered to him half heartly. She knew some of what she was reading -from Greek to English- but not much. It really gave her a headache to try so she looked away from the menu and around the café. The man she had sensed and seen earlier seemed to had vanished. But he would have past right by them, right? While debating on this thought a waitress had came over and put a couple drinks on the table. “Compliments of the gentleman sitting over…” she turned and looked to where the empty table now was. “Well he was just there….” she replied and walked away. “Um alright then…” Soph said a little hesitant and looked at Hayden.
So this was a date. Her heart skipped a beat and she had to mentally remind herself to breath. She hoped that this was a good normal thing. After all this was her very first official date. Sophie finally looked up at him, her bright eyes shown and she smiled. “I….would like that very much,” she smiled again. There she said it. Now honestly she was not hungry at all. So what now? She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, telling herself this was real.

Ah, yes well there was the problem with ordering. Reading the menu was a bit of a hassle, but Hayden could at least handle that. He’d been doing his best to conquer his dyslexia by reading an assortment of books in English instead of Greek, and they were helpful to an extent. On occasion he’d get annoyed with the jumble of letters, and he’d throw the book down and resort to something else that didn’t require reading. Such as sword-fighting, or rock-climbing, basically something that would distract his mind. “Of course, we could read it,” He teased, assessing the menu. He was already 99.9% sure that they had coffee, because any restaurant in New York that didn’t have it could practically kiss their business goodbye now. Staring at the menu, he slowly began to unscramble the jumbled letters, finally making them out as actual words. He probably had more trouble reading it then a first grader would, which did bother him, but at least he’d been able to understand it. “Are you a breakfast for lunch kind of person, because there’s always pancakes?” The boy suggested, figuring that he would probably get himself a basic cheeseburger. Reason being was that it was simple to eat so he wouldn’t accidentally get anything on his shirt, making himself look even more idiotic. “Friends in Manhattan?” He asked, one of his thick eyebrows raised out of curiosity. He’d admit that he wasn’t exactly keen on the idea that some guy had bought Sophie a drink. That was a type of a flirty gesture, but Hayden was going to do his best to not let it bother him. Her answer helped to put his mind at ease about the other guy. She seemed just as enthusiastic about the idea as Hayden felt about it. “Great,” He smiled in excitement, sliding the guidebook from his backpack onto the table. “Alright, now where to next on our date?” Hayden couldn’t help but slide the word ‘date’ in there again. It just reassured him that he wasn’t imagining her answer. “Do you want to, I guess, see a show on Broadway?” He offered, running his finger down one of the pages as he scanned through the ‘things to do in Manhattan’ list. It seemed like a good idea considering the shows were musicals, and she was the daughter of the God of Music.

Okay so just thinking but maybe she should start reading non Greek books and more regular English books. Well at least attempt to read those types of books. Sophie found that it stresses her out really easily though. Even just trying for like five to ten minutes.. Yeah that’s all on that topic. Oh well maybe she should and would try again. It would be very helpful. She smirked a little. “Haha very funny,” she smiled opening the menu herself. Okay she could do this. Maybe? It took awhile but she finally made her brain work the words. Pepsi? Yeah that sounded right. She was always up for any type of caffeine. Whenever she could get a hold of it. As long at it was not Mountain Dew, it was all good. “Um well that’s a good question….” she said out loud to herself. “Well I think I’ll just stick with something small for right now but um what do you think? Anything sound/look good?” she asked looking back up at him.
The two drinks in front of her. Okay so one for each her and Hayden. But who was it? And where was that man? He really had seem to vanish into thin air. “You’re welcome” said a voice in the back of her head. It had been the voice of Eros? Or at least she thought it was him. “Maybe?…but um I have a feeling that these are from a friend” she smiled. Sophie thought it best to explain the conversation that she had had with Eros God of Love. They had had a conversation in the forest about well what he did best. Sophie had begged him not to mess with her love life and she really hoped that he had kept his promise. She finish the small story of the meeting and looked down a bit not sure of what else to say.
Musicals was something Sophie was always fond of. A lot of the songs on her ipod where from musicals actually. From Phantom of the Opera, to Wicked? It was all there and she loved it all. To hear the word ‘date’ made her smile. “Um yeah that sounds like fun,” she smiled more. She had heard lots of Broadway songs but never seen any shows so it could be fun. That was part of Sophie’s dream to be honest, to travel the world and maybe be a little famous here and there on Broadway. But then again how many demi-gods would ever be normal or do anything they really want to do? Fight, train, defend, servive. That was the life of a demi-god. Yeah that’s normal alright.
