"I thought so," Hayden smiled jokingly, a shrug of the shoulders accompanying this smile. He obviously hadn't found it funny like he claimed, but he wouldn't pass up the opportunity to tease her about her occasionally silly actions or words. Of course his teasing was meant in a friendly way, because to him, it was obvious that Hayden found her wonderful. It should have been obvious to her as well, what from his stuttering, and his fiddling with his hands? "I was just going to get a coffee and a cheeseburger. You can get whatever you like, it's my treat," He confirmed with a nod, raising his hand in the air to politely wave the waitress over. He knew that he was ready to order and Sophie seemed to have a little something in mind.
The coffee order was seemingly unnecessary now since Sophie's friend had ordered them drinks. One of the drinks even appeared to be a Mountain Dew, which the demi-god found very odd since it was his favorite drink. "Eros?" That also seemed strange, considering that most gods preferred associating with other gods rather than demi-gods. He believed her story though, simply because he didn't see why she had any reason to lie about it. Also because that was a small matter of love, and Eros was the son of the goddess of love herself. "Lucky you to have Eros for a friend," Hayden smiled, not bothered in the least bit by any part of Sophie's story.
"Great," He browsed through the listing of current musicals, recognizing a couple of them from the reviews in the newspapers. "How about....Wicked?" Hayden suggested, picking more randomly than out of actaul knowledge of what the musical was actually about. "Unless you have a preference of course," Because he certainly didn't care what they went to see. It was a new experience, and he was up for it if she was, which she seemed to be.

Sophie honestly was very relax and really enjoying herself, despite the fact that they were not safely at camp and could be attacked and die at any moment. Yeah, that was thinking positively. But still every negative thing had escaped her mind and she was loving every minute of it. Not worrying about if this was her last day, or breaking a arrow or any of the things a demi-god worried about. For the first time in her life she felt like a normal teenager. If she could take this day and double it? She would make it everyday of the rest of her life and never change it. Darn you regular teenagers with your perfect life!
As the waitress began to come over, Sophie thought a moment. “Um thanks, but are you sure?” she asked. *** Soph was not a one for gifts or free handouts or whatnot. For some reason it bothered her really. Well maybe she could pay him back, if he would take it. She looked down as her hands seemed to nervously wrestle with each other. Soph began to get that nervous playful feeling in the pit of her stomached once more. It did help a little to know that seemed a little nervous himself. Actually it helped a lot.
Sophie was totally truthful about her story. Of course she was. She honestly couldn’t be mean or lie or anything like that. Well unless the situation demanded it like with a monster or something. “Um yeah I suppose I’m lucky to have a god for a friend. But then again there might be a catch I’m not getting. I’m not lucky to save my life,” she half smiled. Honestly that was true. If anything a demi-god learned it was if you got a gift from a god they wanted something in return.
There were many musicals that Sophie could name that she knew most of the songs to: Mamma Mia, Wicked, Grease, Hairspray, Les Misérables, The Producers, and many more. Wicked? You mean the musical that suppose to tell the story before the Wizard of Oz that tells the life of the witches of Oz? Sounds awesome! she replied without stopping herself. She then apologized feeling nerdy and like a dork. Of course she would know a lot about musicals and such, she loved music. After all she was the daughter of Apollo after all, right?

"Of course," Hayden replied, a small question in his eyes as to why he wouldn't be. He supposed that maybe she might think that he found he was obligated to, but it was simply because he wanted to. He knew that is was typical for the guy in the relationship, or he supposed date, to pay, but that's because he found it the gentlemens' thing to do. Although he probably would have offered to pay if it was just him and a friend going out for coffee as well. Polite and attempting to be generous were just two things that he did without even thinking about it. An example would be that every Christmas, when any of his siblings remained at Camp, he would make sure to buy them each a present. And yes, he insisted upon celebrating their birthdays as well. Although his siblings were usually just as generous as he was. That simply came from being children of Philophrosyne.
Well actually he figured that having a god as a friend wasn't all good. Say the wrong thing and some of them became enemies in a snap. Not to mention a person couldn't always say what they wanted to when in the presence of a god. "I'm sure you're plenty lucky," He smiled, picking up the cup and examining it slightly. Just because he was nice didn't mean that he was always trustworthy. After a small whiff of the drink, he took a hesitant sip. So far it didn't seem as though it was dangerous, which was a positive thing.
"Um, sure?" Hayden agreed, not really knowing what the play was about. Though Sophie seemed to know a lot about it, and she sounded pretty positive about the subject. "No apology necessary," He repeated what he felt he'd said too often already. The play sounded somewhat interesting. He only vaguely remembered what the actual Wizard of Oz was about, because it'd been nearly ten years since he'd actually seen the movie. The only thing he could really remember were the characters such as Dorothy, Toto, the Cowardly Lion and so on.

“Thanks,” Sophie replied with a smile. Honestly she had never met a guy more kind, sweet, and gentleman like until now. "Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting, all that's left to do is run. You be the prince, and I'll be the princess, It's a love story, baby, just say, 'yes'." She froze a bit looking out the window. There she goes again thinking of the most random lyrics known to man. That happen to be from Taylor Swift’s song Love Story. Lately that’s all she had been able to think about: love songs, poems, flowers, all the romantic stuff in life. That was not like her at all. Honestly if you knew her you would know that.
That and Sophie never tried to look cute or anything but lately she kept debating on asking some of her sisters and friends to help her out in that department. Sophie was one never on appearance. Well until now. What did Hayden really see in her? Clearly he was going off personality, right? She really hoped so as that what she judged people on. Their personality. Maybe this is why she could get along with a lot of people in or out of camp. Even maybe with the gods? “Thanks” she smiled again.
*Yeah, I need to defiantly stop saying sorry… is that even possible?* Sophie thought to herself, as she looked down at her hands for a second. Other thoughts ran through her mind as well. *Does he even like smart girls? Does any guy? Was she being a bit to nerdy when knowing about different things like musicals and such?* She sighed silently and looked up and smiled a little as there was, or at least she thought there was, an awkward silence in between the too. Something she couldn’t really stand. “So…” she replied trying to think of something to say.
((Note: Sorry it took me a while to come up with a bad and short post. :/ ))

"You're welcome," Hayden nodded in acknowledgement, his tongue clicking lightly against the back of his teeth. His stomach was twisted into knots from the nervous feeling that enveloped him. He didn't like having to watch every little thing he did just to make sure he wouldn't make a fool out of himself. Yet it was starting to feel as if he did have to do that around the daughter of Apollo. He was scared as Hades that he would embarrass himself in one way or another and she would laugh at his patheticness. Although it seemed highly unlikely that Sophie would do anything of the sort. She was simply too nice, like himself, to laugh at his expense. Well though, on occasion, he did laugh at her, but only if he found something utterly adorable. And that was quite frequently.
The seemingly sole waitress of the cafe approached the table, with a small white notepad in hand. After she asked what their preference would be, the boy replied with "Cheeseburger with pickles and ketchup please." A flashy white smile was in accompaniment with the request, which earned a smile in return from the waitress, who hadn't seemed to be all that pleasant when she first walked over. She turned her attention over to Sophie, as did Hayden, though his attention was never far away from her in the first place.
Leaning across the table, he reached out, taking one of Sophie's continulously fidgety hands in his own. He knew he was nervous, but not quite as nervous as the girl appeared to be. "Calm down," Hayden smiled assuringly. "Do you think we need to call in and make reservations on tickets or something?" He pondered aloud, not really sure if he was asking Sophie or himself. Hayden wasn't honestly sure since he'd never went to a play on Broadway.
Notes; It's alright, mine was pretty bad, plus I was slow on it as well =(

Sophie had to keep telling herself to stay calm and play it cool. There was no way she would make herself look like an idiot. Well not on purpose at least. Honestly if it had just been one of her siblings or even another person from camp with her, she would just act normal. So why was it so hard to do that around Hayden? He was just like her, just an ordinary demi-god dealing with any ordinary problems, right? Probably not. It was as if when **he spoke, he spoke ordinary words, although they did not feel for what she had felt before… Half her mind froze a bit. What ever that thought came from was deep, pretty and true. It would make a good song or poem someday.
When the waitress had came over, before hadn’t seem like she wanted to be here at all. Like she rather be and do something else. But then again she looked like your ordinary college student just making her way, so of course this was not her ideal job. But then again, as she talk to Hayden about his order, she smiled some. Then again Hayden could make anyone feel better with just a smile. As she turned to Sophie, Soph thought a moment. As she was not really hungry, she just considered for something small as an appetizer and replied, with a small smile, “I’ll just have the Fried Ravioli please.” One thing Sophie loved was Italian food. The waitress smiled then left.
Was Sophie really acting up and being super fidgety and nervous? Dang. That was something she didn’t want to do. Especially around Hayden. She was really relax, surprisingly, as he touched her hand. She had to remember to keep breathing. *Sorry* she thought, not dare saying it out loud. “Um sometimes it varies. I know a lot of times you can buy tickets at the door…” she replied. At least that is what Sophie remembered about a couple years ago before her mother’s death and before coming to camp.
** = props to Percy for that hehe (see Sig) =)

Mountain Dew was like the gods' gift to Hayden. He was practically addicted to it. Just like an alcoholic couldn't resist a glass of wine, the demi-god couldn't resist a class of the highly sugared beverage. His favorite type was the simple normal green kind, followed shortly by the new Voltage flavor. Mostly anyone who knew him, knew of his like for the drink. Sadly, his half-siblings knew so well as to always buy him a pack for his birthday, or even for Christmas. That was always a safe, and perfect present for him. He was a guy who was easily pleased, as most people could guess. For example, just sitting at this secluded diner with Sophie, made him ecstatic. He hadn't really planned on meeting a girl at the Camp, but apparently luck was on his side in this case, because he'd found Sophie which was better than just any girl.
"Thank you," The son of Philophrosyne called after the waitress as she walked away. Fried Ravioli? Interesting choice, but it sounded quite tasty as well. To be honest, he'd wanted a little more than a cheeseburger, but he'd refrained so as to not look like such a pig. Most people assumed that boys generally had big stomachs, and with Hayden that was true. He tended to stick to mostly healthy things though for nutritional purposes. Plus it seemed that the Camp mostly had only healthy food. Which he understood the reasoning behind that, but he still would have preferred something for his sweet tooth every once in a while. "You like Italian?" He inquired, curious as to what she liked best.
The touch of Hayden's hand almost seemed to take away Sophie's feelings of nervousness. He was glad that the simple touch of his hand was comforting to her. "Perfect then, because I don't really carry around a cell phone. For obvious reasons," He smiled, rubbing his thumb clockwise on her skin, meaning for it to be a small comforting motion. Hayden was already planning to, if it was an option, purchase good seats. This was the one time he was actually going to thank his dad for something. And sadly he was only thanking him for money. He'd rather have been able to thank him for being a good parent, but Hayden had long ago learned that his father would never be anything close to a good parent. [/blockquote]

Okay so it seemed like everything was going great. No monster attack, neither one of them seemed to have any nervousness anymore. Everything seemed to be just going absolutely perfect, and normal! Wait! Freeze! Perfect and normal for a demi-god? Okay that seemed to good to be true. She took a silent deep breath. No way was she going to jinx this to perfect moment. Honestly it had to be to perfect because of the person she was with. Way to go Eros…. She just hoped that he did NOT have anything to do with her and Hayden. Honestly that would be the worst.
Thinking of food was just making Sophie more hungry. That was another thing about Camp. Honestly she loved the food there, but once in awhile, if she could, she would try and get some fast food. That and some caffeine. She wouldn’t be able to function with out at least one of them every three to five days. And as for sweet stuff? Yeah maybe? If she was offered anything like chocolate related she would have some but on her own she wouldn’t. She looked at Hayden and replied “Um yeah its got to be my favorite type of food. What about you?” she asked curious about him as well.
So you would think that the touch of his hand would make her more nervous then she already is. Surprisingly that would be wrong. It felt relaxing and more comfortable. It took her a moment to realize the obvious reasons of why the two of them didn’t have cell phones. It was due to the fact that monsters could track them easier. She smiled and nodded. “Prefect” she repeated his words a bit trying not to blush and go all girly as he smiled at her. After all she was trying to remain to be herself and being girly wasn’t really her.

Hayden could understand why Italian was her favorite type of food. Italian food was so tasteful and it was its own thing. It wasn't similar to any other food in taste, nor creativity. His favorite was just a simple fettucinne Alfredo, a little more exciting then just pasta, but way less rich than lasagna or manicotti. Personally he found those just a little too much for him. Obviously not in size, but maybe in how much sauce was in them. The only thing he particularly liked with that much sauce was pizza. And even then an overload on sauce wasn't very appealing.
Maybe if they hung around Manhattan long enough he could treat her to dinner at an Italian restaurant. He wasn't sure if she was a fan of Italian pastries as well, but he certainly was. He couldn't quite remember why, but he had visited Italy once when he lived over in Europe. It was most likely for something relating to his father's work. The one thing that he had constantly eaten nonstop when in Italy was the pastries. Cannoli was his favorite, especially the lobster canonoli. "I'd have to say.." He hesitated, not particularly sure if he had a favorite. "Seafood," Was his final decision. It was a tough choice considering how many varieties of food there were out there. Yet for some reason seafood had just popped into his head, even though he really only enjoyed lobster, crab, and shrimp. Certainly not that imitation crab though. He found that it nearly made him sick. It just tasted positively horrible.
Hayden probably would have had a cell phone just for convenience if not for Sophie's presence. He wasn't too concerned about his own safety in terms of monsters finding him, but he was quite concerned about what could possibly happen to the daughter of Apollo. In fact he had practically stayed up all night wondering whether or not to withdraw his suggestion of going into the city. Eventually though, he figured that Sophie would end up going some time whether he was there to accompany her or not. "Just like you," The word slipped from his lips naturally, and surprisingly he didn't even blush or stutter along with the statement.

Seafood. Well that was interesting. Soph nodded and smiled as he talked, liking the sound of his accent as he spoke. Do to all honestly that had to be the first time someone gave her a favorite type of food. That question was usually answered like I don’t really have a favorite or by naming off an actual food such as pizza or fries or what not. For Sophie she honestly like any type of food, minus Chinese food which literally made her sick. It practically was the only food she couldn’t keep down. Honestly if she didn’t have her mother’s looks and personality, she could pull off a guy easy if she had to. She was a tom boy at heart, never liked wearing dresses, or lot of makeup, plus she didn’t care for preppy girls anyway, even if she tried to make friends with the daughters of Aphrodite. Most of them seemed nice, it was just the point of some of them thinking they were better then others.
Soph tried not to turn and blush red once more. “I’m not perfect but um thanks?” she replied looking down, hoping her face was not red. Was he playing or did he really mean it? What Soph remembered from listening around was that guys would say anything to win over a girl but Hayden didn’t seem that way. Honestly he seemed to good to be true. Like one of those guys you only see in the movies. Perfect, charming, kind to everyone, smart, funny and just knew how to make you smile without even trying.
The waitress had finally came over with their orders in hand. Sophie thanked her after receiving her food and watched her walk away. The waitress, or according to the name tag maybe her name was Jennifer, seem to completely ignore her and kept looking back at Hayden. Soph was not the jealous type but before thinking or saying anything she looked at the food in front of her, even if it was a small portion, looked so good, that Soph even forgot that she was not that hungry.

Hayden chuckled, because honestly he had been expecting a similar reaction from her, to his comment. She seemed the modest type, and definately not at all like one of the daughters of Aphrodite who may have answered with an 'I know.' In all truthfulness, he knew that Sohpie wasn't perfect in the way that it was defined, but the little imperfections were what made her perfect in his eyes. "I respectfully disagree," He chose his wording so as to avoid any typical argument, though he had a small feeling that Sophie would feel the need to argue the point despite his insistance. "As would probably anyone who has met you, would."
Now silences could be considered awkward, but Hayden excluded this one from the awkward category. It was more of a comfortable silence that only two people who knew each other well could experience. He took a small sip of his sugary drink again, ignoring the fact that it was extremely high in calories, fat, and practically anything else that was bad for a person. The son of Philophrosyne constantly exercised, half of the reason being because that was the only thing to do at Camp Half-Blood, besides well, arts and crafts. Which he found an activity that was more suitable for elementary schools.
"Thank you," He smiled appreciatively to the waitress, oblivious to her glances at him. He put in a small request for the bill before she left, so that Sophie and he could leave as soon as they liked. Unless that was of course if Sophie wanted a dessert of sorts, though that could always be added onto the bill later. She hadn't seemed all that hungry so he doubted that she would ask for much else though. Pulling out two napkins out of the dispenser, he politely passed one to the daughter of Apollo before placing his neatly in his lap. Just because he was a big eater didn't mean he didn't still have his manners. Picking up his cheeseburger he took a medium sized bite out of it. His tastebuds, and not to mention his stomach were both satisfied.

Sophie was not one to argue unless it really was something major. This really was not. And this reason she could not be mad was because it was Hayden. It was a compliment. Or maybe at least she thought it was? She smiled again, which seemed to light up their little corner. All honestly, Soph did not think she was that pretty, smart or even athletic as a lot of people might say. She was just your average, normal, teenage, American demi-god. “Well um thanks,” she replied trying not blush like crazy, and not knowing what else to say.
The daughter of Apollo was never fond of awkward silences, and the being of this she would always say or do something randomly that would make people give her very strange looks. Though the looks have not occurred yet the past two years at camp, she was grateful, and wouldn’t feel like a complete idiot. But there was something about this silence that did not bother her. She did not know why it was not like normal silences she had been in but this one was more comfortable. She honestly thought that the comfortable silence had a lot to do with Hayden. Why so? She had no idea. As Sophie took a drink of her own soda, something she had not had in about a month or so, she was grateful again that the silence was not as awkward as she thought it should be.
Right before she was about to reach for a napkin, she noticed Hayden hand one over to her. “Thanks,” she replied kindly adding a smile, and placing it in her lap, then taking a bite of her fried ravioli. It honestly had to be one of the many things she loved of Italian cuisine. As she ate, she could hear her younger sisters, mostly Harper and Adoina, at the back of her mind giggling and saying things like aww as if trying to embarrassed her. Smiling to herself and shook her head mentally and continued to eat.

"You're welcome," Hayden smiled that sweet signature smile of his. The blush she attempted to hide didn't go unnoticed by the Philophrosyne boy. It was a nice try at stopping it, but a failed one. He didn't see how she could be embarrassed though. He supposed he would have found it blush-worthy if she had said that thing about him, but that was only because it lacked serious truth. It wasn't that he was one of those people who had no self-esteem, it was just hard to think of himself as perfect when he knew all of his own flaws. Especially his golden-retriever like flaws that Gabrielle had pointed out to him. He didn't really mind being compared to a dog though, they were sweet, and loyal, and had a lot of good qualities. Well besides drinking out of the toilet bowl that is....
Setting his cheeseburger down on the plate, he took one of the butter knifes to it to cut it in half. He found it a little easier to eat that way. Plus it meant there was less ketchup drippings to deal with. He tried to refrain from eating too fast, but he finished his meal much quicker than Sophie did. "Sorry..Big appetite, I guess." He offered a small smile, his face tinged a little red from embarrassment. The demi-god somehow doubted that Sophie would care though. She seemed to like him for his personality so far, which was great for him. Considering lately he had been a little concerned about what Gabrielle had meant when she had said he was like a golden retriever. Was that a good thing, or had it been meant as some sort of an insult?
Sitting up, he pulled a wallet out of his back pocket. The waitress had brought back over her tab, which he had, of course, thanked her for. He'd been told before that his thank-yous got quite annoying, but he thought of it as common courtesty, and manners so he wasn't about to exclude them. Unless of course someone specifically requested he do so. Pulling out a couple bills, he dropped them on the table, plus a generous tip.

Sophie had to get her mind off of whatever it was on, and looked out the window. And honestly she did not know what it was on. The sun shown down on her in thought. *Let me sing you a love song. About what I feel in my heart; Butterflies can't find nectar; Whenever we're apart. You're a flower in bloom. In the dark, in the gloom, It's you who brightens my day. How many ways do I need you? Every day, every way, come what may.* Dang there was the poem in her head again. Why? Really? Now?!? Oh well at least it was not out loud… or was it? She was praying that it was not. That would be embarrassing. Honestly the eldest daughter of Apollo was not sure what was coming over her. Random poems and such popping in and out of her lately… yeah and she was one of her father’s children that was not good at poetry, or anything really, except archery.
The daughter of Apollo was one who loved food, even if you could not tell it. It was due to her high metabolism that made her hungry but not. It was a bit annoying really but not as she never seemed to gain any weight, always 112-113 pounds. And today just seemed to be one of those days that when she did not feel hungry she seem to eat her normal fill anyways. They seemed to finish at the same time with their foods. “Its okay really. I guess I can honestly say I understand the feeling,” she smiled a little, taking a final drink of her soda. For sure she was not a girly girl at all. After the waitress had come and everything was taken care of, Sophie, looked to him. “So um where to now?” she asked standing up, and putting her bag over her shoulder, after everything was taken care of.
((OCC: Blah sorry Im sort of getting suck :/ ))
