Meeting Nike had been fun, overall. She had been great fun talking to and very informative. Alex had walked away with knowledge of coffee (the different types) and of the Battle between the demigods and the other forces. The information about the Battle had been interesting, as well as a bit depressing. Knowing that so many people had died in the streets of Manhattan, unknown to the mortals, was really sad in his opinion. So what did he do? Being the crazy mortal he was, he went to Manhattan. He had no idea why, or if it was going out of his way or not. Quite frankly, he had no idea where he was going or what he was doing anymore.
He did know that he was trying to find the demigods, or where they lived. That would be pretty cool. Until that time came, however, Alex was fine with roaming the streets of New York. Gosh, he really owed Jake for all his help. Not that he was helping him now, but while Alex was living with his dad, he had befriended Jake. The boy had taught him about living on the streets; Alex so owed him, since now that was basically what he was doing now. It was no fun, but at least Alex had money, unlike his younger friend.
Alex continued to walk down the sidewalks full of people. It had been fun walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. He hadn't done that before, so it was a new experience, and a great view. Alex didn't mind heights and had just watched all the boats in the water and looked at the skyline. It was actually very pretty around sun set. He remembered that night in Manhattan. He remembered that he had been over his aunt's house and then had seen all of the statues get up. Alexander had seen the statues get up and move from his bedroom window. Freaky? Yes. That freaky had also gotten him kicked out of his house.
The mortal sighed and continued walking, wondering where the battle ground was. It had probably been everywhere. Very sad when someone actually thought about it. This was why war was so depressing. So many people had to die just because they thought that their side was right. The son of Hermes had to die, and he was now around here as a ghost... somewhere. Alex shivered, reality clashing into him again. Sometimes all of this seemed like a fantasy, just a really well told story. Then, after he remembered that he had seen Nike and Hecate in flesh and blood, the reality came crashing into him. It was still a lot to get his head around. A lot of things he had learned about the world wrong was getting proved wrong at every corner.
