I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore *NOTE: I’m setting this after the thread at the lake with Joel.
Clarity. Peace of mind. Just even understanding what the heck was going on in her life. That was all Julia wanted. She’d thought that she’d finally gotten things back on track for the first time since finding out who she was; but apparently that wasn’t allowed to happen. Demi-gods weren’t allowed to have peace of mind and they certainly weren’t allowed to have a few days of clarity in their life without something coming along to throw them off. Funny enough that it would be a boy who messed up everything that had been working out in the life of a daughter of Aphrodite. A boy had never been able to throw Julia off before, so it made everything all the more shocking. Heck, he’d even been able to get her to change the way she looked at herself in the grand scheme of things.
After her meeting with the son of Triton, Julia had spent some time in her cabin, just thinking things over. He’d made her realize that just because she was a child of Aphrodite didn’t mean she had to be a dumb blonde, she didn’t have to worry about ruining her hair and her outfit whenever she did anything. She could go out and have fun, she could go flirt without fear of any sort. And she certainly hoped she’d shown him the same thing. She’d even considered going back out into camp to look for him, just to talk a little bit more; but then the better part of her conscious reminded her that she didn’t want to look desperate, that a child of Aphrodite didn’t need to be chasing boys. It should be the other way around.
She casually slipped away from the rest of her cabin as they headed to dinner and headed towards the forest, grabbing herself a sword on her way past the armory. She needed time to think and somewhere to be alone, and the forest was probably the last place anyone would expect to find her. It was just starting to get dark as she made her way through the trees, keeping an eye and ear out for any approaching monsters that might disturb her quiet time. When she was content that the forest provided enough shelter from disturbances the blond made her way over to a fallen tree and took a seat, sighing as she began to turn the sword over in her hands. She was glad for the silence of the forest, though it was a bit unnerving at the same time. Nature shouldn’t have been that silent… She looked around for signs of something wrong, gripping the sword a bit tighter than usual.

With how often Phobos was visiting Camp Half Blood he might as well buy a timeshare. His visits were casual and without purpose though. It wasn’t like Phobos chose to come and watch the kiddies play with their sharp swords. Though he had watched them from a far once. It was best to know your enemy. He scoffed at the thought; he hardly considered the half-bloods a challenge anymore. Even with his over whelming pride Phobos knew not to underestimate these stupid little demi-gods. He had a few men on the inside and knew that it would be easy to crumble the demi-gods from within.
His most recent journey to Camp came after messing with the mind of one Percy Jackson. Acting on Percy’s fear by saying just the right things inside his melon was a better idea than Phobos original thought. It looked to be working out swimmingly. Now he was in the forest relaxing in the tops of one of the trees. He was able to see the light and hear the sounds of the half-bloods enjoying their dinner. No food would be scraped off into the fire for him. The idea made Phobos angry. Why shouldn’t he be respected? His eyes burned red beneath his shades. He sat with his arms crossed looking like a two year old who was denied desert. Phobos scowled in the direction of the food. He thought about ending them all then and there, none of them would see it coming.
Footsteps alerted Phobos and he broke his gaze and glanced down to the forest floor. He expected to see a chipmunk or some kind of monster but instead he saw a rogue half-blood. She had blond hair and armed with a sword. A smirk pulled on the corners of Phobos’ lips. He knew this demi-god only because she was beautiful and resembled his mother in a way. Phobos had never really spoken to this side of his family before. Curious, Phobos watched the daughter of Aphrodite as her hands moved over the sword. He tilted his head and leaned forward on the tree branch a little.
“Hurry off now, or you’ll be late for supper.” He said. Phobos jumped down from the tree landing softly on his feet. He stood slowly from a crouched position and watched Julia as if she were a piece of meat. “Don’t you know the forest is a dangerous place to be at night? I doubt that little piece of scrap metal would do anything to any monster in here. That is, if you even know how to use it for something other than examining your reflection daughter of Aphrodite.”
Phobos drew his shoulders back making himself appear taller. He lifted his sunglasses momentarily revealing ruby colored eyes. Quickly he looked Julia up and down and let the ray bans drop into place. “Not bad. Though I’m not really into family affairs like my parents. People would think of me as some Kentucky back wood hick. And I am so above that. I’m above a lot of things actually. This, is just a form your pathetic eyes can handle.” Phobos said his lips curled up soaked with cruelty. “I doubt you know who I am which is a shame because I can be a great guy if you get to know me. I’ll let you take a guess though, sister. Let’s see how well you know your Immortal family tree.” WORD COUNT"578 NOTES "Creepers be creeping!!!

I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore Her grip on the sword was causing her knuckles to turn white as the feeling of being watched grew. But nothing was out of place other than the fact there wasn’t as much noise as there should have been. The creaking of a few tree branches in the wind, the leaves rustling… But there weren’t any noises of animal life. Unusual. The forest was supposed to be well-stocked with monsters; that was why they warned demi-gods to be careful when they went in. That was why Julia was lugging around a sword… So why hadn’t she needed to use it yet? She heard another creak of a branch, almost as if something had shifted its weight on the wood. The blond rose to her feet, bringing the weapon into a defensive position.
A voice broke through her thoughts, coming from above her. So there was someone in the trees. She didn’t have to wait long to find out who, as a figure landed just a bit in front of her, causing the demi-god to jump slightly. ”I’ll find something to eat when I feel like going back.”
She said, looking the figure over. ”I know my way around a blade just fine. And I have other tricks up my sleeves when it comes to dealing with monsters if I ever need to.” The way she was being inspected like she was some piece of meat made Julia squirm slightly; she was more than a little uncomfortable with the looks the man was giving her. ”...Ew.” Who was this guy, and why was he being so creepy? Julia was used to getting looks from guys, the occasional catcall, but never anything like this. Possibly because he said something about being family. And that would just be disgusting. ”Even if that wasn’t absolutely disgusting, you’re not my type. And I have someone I’m interested in.” His challenge to her to guess his identity sent Julia’s mind flying through various figures of mythology. Well, he had said that his parents were into family affairs… Which meant that they weren’t actually husband and wife. And then he had called her sister, which meant his mother was Aphrodite. Hm… Who did that leave to be the lover? Well she knew her mother had an affair with Ares… And they had twins as a result. ”I know a lot more of my Immortal family tree than you probably think. And I would say you’re one of the twins that happened as a result of the affair between my mother and Ares… So which one are you, Phobos or Deimos?” She raised an eyebrow, her grip on the sword slightly less. The blade remained in her grip, ready to defend if she needed to. Phobos placed a hand over his heart in mock surprise. He frowned and pouted his lips. “Are you calling me a monster? That hurts me more than you know.” His face suddenly became tense again and full of anger. His lips drew back and pulled tight over his pearly white teeth. “To compare me to a beast of Tartarus is a huge insult and you are lucky that I am in a generous mood today otherwise I would have no problem snapping your neck for such insolence.”
It looked like steam was coming out of Phobos’ ears. He took a deep breath and sighed. The color in his face paled and the steam vanished. A smile appeared on his face a split second later. He was mad. He listened to the daughter of Aphrodite his expression changing almost every second. He raised a brow at her when she mentioned someone of interest.
“Oh? Is that so?” He chuckled. “How adorable, a daughter of Aphrodite smitten by another. Who would the gentlemen be, if I can ask?” Phobos held his hands up and took a step or two away. “I’m sorry that is very nosey of me. Forgive me.” Phobos already knew who it was though.
Phobos wrung his hands and watched her carefully. He lowered his gaze to watch her over the rim of his sunglasses. The last demigod he had come in contact with was Riley, and before then Blake. Both of them no longer had a place among the living. It was probably a pattern. Phobos didn’t like meeting demigods and letting them wander off. Only on a few occasions did he allow that, and it was only because they swore allegiance to him. The way Phobos saw it this girl had one of two options. Die from your worst fear or help over throw Camp Half Blood. Phobos tilted his head back pushing the glasses further up on the bridge of his nose.
“You have the pleasure of meeting Phobos, God of Fear.” He smiled and extended his arms out. He thought he was something marvelous to behold. “My brother is elsewhere right now. And since we share the same mother I suppose that makes us family, close knit family. I always forget that I have siblings in the Aphrodite cabin they are usually worthless, except that Silena chick two years ago. She had some spunk in her didn’t she?” Phobos frowned for a second, “Too bad it got her killed. You can’t win them all, if you’re a demigod anyway. You’ll find we Gods usually get what we want. Kind of the perk of being immortal and powerful.”
Phobos gave a smug smirk and leaned back up against a tree. His eyes fell on the blade for a moment, “Come on sis we’re family here. If you can’t trust family who can you trust? Besides that toothpick isn’t going to do you much good against a God. It’ll just tick them off. So, you got a name Prom Queen?” WORD COUNT"503 NOTES "Sorry if it isn’t the greatest!

I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore ”That depends. Are you a monster?”
She asked, raising an eyebrow and smirking at him. No sooner had she smirked than it faded as he spoke again. She took a step back before he calmed himself down, ready to bolt off through the forest. Though that probably wouldn’t have done much for her. It would probably end with him snapping her neck. She rolled her neck slightly at that thought before turning her attention back to the God in front of her. His ever-changing expression was almost comical, and she might have laughed if she hadn’t reminded herself that he had just made a threat of snapping her neck for being insolent. Her love life wasn’t any of his business, and she had opened her mouth to tell him as much when he backed off on his own. It almost felt too easy. ”I’m not smitten.” She snapped, glaring at him for a moment. But maybe she was… She didn’t really like to admit that maybe the son of Triton had more of an effect on her than any other guy she’d flirted with. ”I don’t get smitten.” Her voice had lost a bit of the bite from before, both from the fear of retribution and from the fact that he may have been right. There he went again, just watching her. No matter how much she told herself she should be used to getting watched by guys, this was different. He was a God… He was her brother. Obviously he wasn’t looking her over because she was attractive. So what then? He was measuring her up for a fight? Maybe he was angry at their mother and wanted to kill one of her children to get back at her. She certainly hoped that wasn’t the case. Hopefully he wouldn’t feel right killing his sister. The only other reason she could think of for a God to inspect a demi-god was to see how they could be used as a pawn in some sort of plan. And Julia didn’t have any plans to be anyone’s pawn. ”Siblings. Right. Though I doubt you feel much of a connection to any of your demi-god siblings, do you?” For some reason he just didn’t strike her as the type of God who liked demi-gods, even if they were his siblings. ”Don’t talk about us like that. We’re not worthless.” She snapped again, her emotions starting to get the better of her and starting to slip into her words. If he was mortal, or even if he was most monsters, then he’d probably feel the effects of her charmspeaking ability. She'd never heard of anyone charmspeaking a God before, but there was always hope. Maybe she would be able to test the waters with something easy... ”Oh don’t look so smug.” The charm was still there, her emotions still strong. ”I don’t envy you for being immortal.” She rolled her eyes before sticking the point of the sword into the ground to let it rest there. Julia approached her half-brother with a bit of a wary air, extending her hand in introduction. ”Julia Porter. And I actually wasn’t Prom Queen if you’d believe it.” She’d actually campaigned against it, and though she didn’t know it at the time, had used her charmspeaking ability to lose the crown. And no matter how charming they were being, Julia certainly didn’t trust this part of her family. His lips twitched at the monster comment. They pulled into a slight smirk, “Depends on who you ask. I’d like to think of myself as a God, because well I happen to be one.” He scowled again looking her up and down. He had seen he around before, oh yes he knew this daughter of Aphrodite. It was a nice happy coincidence that he should run into her out in the woods. It was just too perfect. Phobos loved when things turned out perfectly in his favor. He needed a little pick-me-up after the eclipse and Luke disaster. Such a waste of time, he spent time with that Riley son of Hermes for nothing.
One of Phobos’s dark brows arched and he peaked over the rim of his Raybans. His eyes glowed red for a split second before he lifted his head back. He pushed the glasses back up the brim of his nose. Phobos wasn’t entirely blind and he liked to keep an eye on those who worked for him. At first he had been a touch upset with Joel for getting sidetracked, but this turn of events was interesting. “Not smitten indeed.” He muttered. “Well, for a daughter of Aphrodite you seem to be pretty against love.”
Phobos immediately started to think of how he could use this to his advantage. He watched the daughter of Aphrodite carefully. He slowly stroked his chin and looked off over her shoulder as if in deep thought. He chuckled lightly, as she asked about his demigod siblings. In truth they were a waste of time and did not deserve to be called children of Ares. Children of Aphrodite he could care less about the majority of the time. “My brothers and sister are fun to play tricks on. Deimos and I get a kick out of messing with them. My sister Clarisse was the most fun of all.” He swallowed before he could bring up Percy’s name.
Phobos folded his arms across his chest and smacked his lips. “The purpose of mortals is to worship and pay respect to the Gods. Something they hardly do anymore and its sickening. They used to fear the Gods and I thrived on that fear.” His anger began to grow and the rage and bitterness echoed in his voice. “Fear and respect its how you should view us!” Phobos practically shouted. “Demigods are no different than mortals, except that your purpose is slightly greater. You fight in the name of the Gods, you are still slaves to us even though you are sometimes valued greater than mortals.”
He moved forward and stood only inches from Julai’s face bending down slightly as to whisper in her ear. “Everyone envies us for being Immortal whether you want to admit it or not. The number one fear amongst mortals is death. You don’t want to die, do you sissy?” Phobos slowly leaned back and stepped away a look of malice on his face. “I didn’t think so.”
Phobos glanced down at the hand offered him and couldn’t keep the surprised smile from his lips. He didn’t take it. “Julia. That’s right. that is the name I heard Joel use before. Huh, I didn’t think he would be the type to go for someone like you.” Phobos turned his back and moved over to a nearby tree and leaned against it. Now came the fun part. “Joel Harbor, son of Triton. I thought you said you didn’t get smitten? You lied and that right there makes you a hypocrite.” He said pointing a finger at her. His brow furrowed for a second. “Or just a liar, either way you two are perfect for each other.” WORD COUNT"617 NOTES "Oh I love playing Phobos!!

I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore She rolled her eyes. Of course it depended on who you asked. Everything depended on who you asked, there were always two sides to every story. She smirked for a moment at the God comment. It was true, after all, but that didn’t mean that Phobos wasn’t just stroking his own ego at the same time. Her smirk faded as his face turned into a scowl and he looked her over again. She didn’t like getting that look from a God, especially not a God like Phobos. She felt like something about her being in the woods was too good for him to believe, and she didn’t like that one bit.
And she felt like he was reading her just as easily, if not easier, as she was reading him as one of his eyebrows rose into an arch. She caught the quick flash of red in his eyes, which only pushed her more towards uneasiness. ”I never said I was against love. I’m all for love, actually.”
She chuckled, running a hand through her hair. ”I said I don’t get smitten. I’m the one who does that to others. Do you really think mom would let me fall for some random guy? No…” Her voice had quite a deal less bite than before, her words more to reassure herself than to convince him. ”No, I love love. Trust me, I would know if I was smitten.” She nearly turned around to see what he was looking at behind her, but that would mean taking her attention away from Phobos. As much as that seemed like a good idea, to look somewhere else to hide her fear, it also seemed like a very bad idea. After all, Phobos had proved to be quite unstable, and she wasn’t going to give him any chance to do something without her seeing. But he could probably do that anyway, she reminded herself of that fact. He was a God after all. ”Fun to play tricks on?” She raised an eyebrow, trying to compose herself after her little break. ”Don’t act like we’re here just to amuse you.” Any composure she had was completely lost as he started his next little rant. She could feel his anger starting to build up, the rage in his voice starting to terrify her. She backed up a few steps, doing her best to remember where there were rocks and twigs to trip over. That would be bad. She continued back, only stopping as her back pressed into a tree. ”W-we still respect the Gods, we still worship them.” Of course that was just at Camp Half Blood. Julia still had the small gold cross her father had bought her, even though he knew better about religion. In private they worshiped the Gods that her father knew existed, but in the public eye they were a good Christian family. ”And believe me, I know there are plenty of people who are afraid of the Gods still.” She crossed her arms over her chest, trying to scramble together any sort of defiance she still had. He moved forward again, causing the young demigod to press back into the tree. Her arms dropped to her side, her eyes snapping shut as he bent down to emphasize his words. She was shaking as he moved away, waiting a moment before opening her eyes. ”O-of course I don’t want to…” She paused for another moment, taking a deep breath. ”…to die.” He was threatening her, she was sure about that, but she wasn’t quite sure why. It wasn’t like she posed some huge threat to some God. Joel? How did he know about Joel? And why would Joel mention her to Phobos? ”What… What are you talking about?” She asked, still leaning against the tree. At the moment there wasn't anything she wanted more than to just curl up in her bed and eat about ten gallons of ice cream, but there were more pressing matters. ”And who says I’m smitten? Maybe… Maybe I was just fooling around with him.” It actually hurt to say that, but Julia wasn’t ready to go ahead and say she was in love; at least not to her creepy half-brother. ”What do you know about him? And why would you care if we’re perfect for each other?” [/blockquote][/blockquote] And when do you think it will all become clear Cause I’m being taken over by the fear Outfit: Here Musics: I Wont Say I'm In Love Tags: Phobos

Phobos chuckled and kept his eyes on Julia’s face, he could see every minor twitch she made. There was fear in her even if she wasn’t showing it and it was greatly pleasing Phobos. As she babbled on about loving love Phobos rolled his eyes, though it would be hard to see through his dark shades. Phobos wasn’t a God of relationships of any kind but even he could see what was going on between his pawn Joel and Julia. It was perfect, and Phobos fully planned to use it to his advantage. He had originally been frustrated thinking it would compromise his influence over Joel, but this just made everything better. Now he could hold not one, but two things over Joel’s head.
He smiled broadly at Julia when she claimed they worshiped and respected the Gods. Phobos could tell he was really starting to scare her now. Lovely. Phobos reached up slowly removed his glasses. His eyes were dark red, safe for any demigod to look at for the time being. He wiped the corner of his mouth and turned his back on Julia for a second laughing at how pathetic she was. Phobos turned on the balls of his feet and stopped laughing at the drop of a hat, like he had a button that instantly turned on and off evil laughter.
“Don’t lie to me Julia. I have seen a lack of respect in the Gods over the past several decades. It wasn’t terrible until that Perseus freaking Jackson came to Camp Half-Blood. I should have known he’d be trouble from the start. His lack of respect for the Gods should never have gone unnoticed. I know Zeus is ticked that he turned down immortality. That’s a big helping of disrespect right there. But,” he paused and forced himself to calm down. “we aren’t here to talk about Percy Jackson, he’ll be dealt with soon enough.”
Phobos swallowed and further smiled, he struck a cord with her. “I know a lot about your boyfriend. Stop denying your feelings for him Sissy. Let’s just agree that you have fallen for this guy. He’s quite a catch.” The God began to chuckle, “Get it, catch? Cause he’s the son of Triton!” Phobos pursed his lips at Julia and moved closer to her swinging his sunglasses in his hand.
“I am willing to bet my immortal life that I know Joel better than you do. He’s in quite a predicament. Kind of screwed himself by interacting with the likes of you.” Phobos muttered looking Julia over again. His eyes landed on her face and he stared directly into her eyes. “Do you know what it means to be afraid Julia? To have your heart race so fast that you think its going to burst out of your chest. To feel your stomach churn with anticipation and every pore in your body awaken and drip with sweat? The hairs on your body stand on ends and your mind races with the most terrible scenarios that you feel like you might go in. sane. It’s a very eye opening experience. You can really understand a person once you know their greatest fear, and while I have a sneaking suspicion as to what yours might be why don’t we just have a look. I’m dying to feel closer to you Sissy.” Phobos locked eyes with Julia. They turned from dark red to brilliant red, Phobos held his breath waiting for the sweet sensation that came with gathering new fears. I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore After a few more minutes of watching Phobos continue to study her features, of trying to stare him down and so obviously losing, Julia managed to divert her attention somewhere else. She focused on a fallen branch, trying to replace her general thoughts of fear with those of beauty, something familiar to her. There was beauty in everything, and although it may have been unconventional for a daughter of Aphrodite to focus on the beauty of a tree branch it was better than focusing on the fact that her half-brother was studying her, probably trying to figure out how he could use her as a pawn in some sort of plan or even just how he could torment her for his own amusement. It was sickening; she had to distract herself any way she could.
But of course he wasn’t making it any easier for her. His laughter drew her gaze back, as if she was trying to figure out just what was so funny to him. Probably the fact that he had a demi-god cowering in fear, that he was able to use her feelings to manipulate her. It was times like these when she wished she weren’t such an emotional person, despite all the advantages it gave her in other situations. Charmspeaking, for example. Another split-second passed and his laughter abruptly cut off, which put Julia back on high alert.
”One person? You’re going to judge the behavior of all demi-gods from just one?”
She questioned, raising an eyebrow at him. It hardly seemed fair, especially when that person was Percy Jackson. She liked the demi-god and all, but some of the things he did just didn’t make sense to her. His decision to deny immortality was one she understood though; it was perfectly clear to her why he didn’t want to leave the mortal world behind for a life with the gods. Julia wasn’t sure she would take an immortal life either if it was offered to her, but that wouldn’t be an act of disrespect. The Fates had set her in motion, and the relationships she had formed with the people she’d met were not something she would ever want to see go. Even thinking about watching her friends grow old and die was nearly too much. Her mouth opened to offer a rebuttal to Phobos’ comments about Joel, but nothing came out. ”And what if you’re right? What does it matter if I’m in love with him?” A quick flash of anger overtook her features for a moment. ”The likes of me? What is that supposed to mean?!?” If everything Phobos was saying was the truth then it was quite likely that he did know Joel better than she did, but that didn’t mean too much to the demi-god. She had felt the connection between herself and the son of Triton, and she wasn’t about to let some psychotic god of fear do anything to ruin that. And she certainly wasn’t going to just sit by and let Phobos hurt Joel if that was what he was planning. Phobos began talking about fear, and immediately Julia knew she was in for trouble. Everything in her mind was telling her to look away from him, to not make eye contact, to run as fast as she could back to the main area of camp; but there was something keeping her eyes locked with those of her divine half-brother. Her own eyes grew wide as his changed color. There were plenty of things she was afraid of, the dark, small spaces, being targeted by a man because of her beauty as Eris had warned her... Others as well but she had never truly given thought as to what her deepest fear would be. The scene changed, and Julia noticed two things from the start. The first, that there were two figures on either side of her, dressed in Greek armor and armed to the teeth, each of them keeping a firm grip on her arm and stopping her from reacting to the second thing she noticed. The noise. There were sounds of a fight going on, and as the area around them became clear to her she realized just what was happening. She wasn’t at Camp Half-Blood anymore. Instead she stood in Central Park, the two figures holding her at the edge of a clearing so she had a good view of what was going on. There was a definite battle, though it wasn’t quite clear what the sides were. Her loved ones moved about from skirmish to skirmish, swinging swords at those they’d sworn to love. ”NO!” She screamed out, trying to pull herself away from the two holding her. If she couldn’t break it up physically then she would resort to her next option. ”Listen, look at yourselves! Why are you doing this to each other? You love each other, fighting doesn’t make any sense! Please, just put down your weapons before anything happens!” Her words were laced with emotion, the Charmspeak should have been enough to persuade any of them to stop fighting, but her words went unheeded. The fight continued on as people began to fall, boys she had dated and still had feelings for, her step-mother, her father, people she loved from camp, until eventually Aphrodite and Joel were left, circling a moment or two before charging each other and disappearing in a blinding light. She blinked a few times, but the sight she saw was one that made her collapse, only held up by the two figures. Everyone she loved was sprawled out on the ground, the beauty of the park had been destroyed… And she hadn’t been able to do a thing about it, forced to stand by and rendered useless, even her Charmspeaking ability. Julia was completely oblivious to her true surroundings, ignoring the pain that should have been shooting through her as she dug her manicured nails into the tree, breaking off pieces of bark but also causing her nails to break in the process. She only saw the scene of Central Park, only felt the horrible feeling of helplessness and nausea, of the cold sweat and insanity creeping in. Phobos scoffed and tosses his head back a slightly. “Shame how one person can ruin it for the whole team.” Phobos didn’t care much about demigods to begin with and even if Percy Jackson hadn’t trashed his pride years ago, Phobos still would have liked to destroy them all. The gears in his mind kept turning trying to think up ways to use Julia besides dangling her like the carrot on the end of the rope. If he played his cards right Julia had the capabilities of being another pawn in his Godly game of chess.
The anger that momentarily lingered in Julia’s eyes and on her face did not go unnoticed. Phobos smirked at it and almost started laughing again but he restrained himself. It was wonderful, simply wonderful, to hear that she was in love Joel. It was going to make everything so much more fun. “I knew I didn’t have to be Aphrodite or Eros to catch onto the raw sexual teenage tension between you two half-bloods. It’s cute; you two could be the next Romeo and Juliet or Anthony and Cleopatra. She was a daughter of Aphrodite, or well it would have been Venus...never mind I won’t even bother getting into that. She was Egyptian but circumstances with Rome and such...forget it.” He smiled and laughed again almost giggling.
“Listen to me babble on about this that and the other when what I’m really interested in is your fear. And don’t worry about what I meant by that, it’s for me to know and you to ponder for while.” Phobos enjoyed messing with his Aphrodite sister much more than his Ares siblings. They would put up a fight at least; they were all outspoken and tough on the exterior as well as interior. Julia may have appeared tough by nature, but Phobos could sense so much fear radiating off of her that it almost made him want to spare her life in the long run. Keeping her around was bound to be entertaining.
Her fear was just what he had expected with a nice little twist to it. Phobos soaked in her fear and after a few minutes he broke eye contact and slid his glasses back onto his face. There was a cruel expression that stretched and twisted his Godly features. “Hmph.” He said leaning away from her. Phobos glanced down and saw her precious little nails ruined. It made him all tingley inside. Knowing someone’s fear was step one to being able to controlling them. Phobos quickly let the wicked smile drop from his face.
“I didn’t know you could charmspeak Sissy. That’s what you were trying to do during all of that wasn’t it?” Phobos clicked his tongue. “You’re fear is similar to so many others. You’re essentially afraid of being alone, because you were unable to save the ones you love. Typical but very preventable.” Phobos took a few steps back, he crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head up. “I think by now you could have figured out that I’m the one pulling the strings on you’re favorite fishy Joel. I have no plans on killing him so long as he continues to do as I ask.” This was where things would get really interesting. He would either lose Julia after this and use her as a means of leverage or earn her as a forced ally. Phobos was never the most diplomatic of individuals but he didn’t exactly care what direction this conversation went in. It boiled down to him letting her live for a while longer or letting her live as a slave once he started his new order.
“Julia, I’m really only out to kill Percy Jackson and overthrow the Olympians. Those who side with me have my world on the River Styx that no harm will come to them by my Godly hand. Joel is safe, so long as his allegiance remains with my brother and myself.” He wasn’t lying about that. No harm would need to come to the half-bloods and others who swore to fight for him. The ones who resisted were the ones he would deal with harshly.
Phobos moved closer to Julia again and placed a hand on her shoulder gently. “I know you don’t want to see the ones you love suffer, it will be a guilt you cannot manage. I will make sure personally that nothing happens to those most important to you.” He paused for a moment. “Aphrodite, our mother, will be difficult. I wouldn’t like to hurt her, nor my father. What kind of parents though would see their son thrown into the depths Tartarus? Those who are not with me are against me and a threat to the greater good I am trying to provide for all of the minor Gods out there.”
Phobos kept his hand on Julia’s shoulder; it didn’t tighten or appear threatening. No, this gesture was almost on the border of kindness and compassion. Those weren’t emotions Phobos felt but he was sure as hell good at creating an illusion of them. If this didn’t work, he would cut his losses and take off. It was confirmed that Julia loved Joel, and so Phobos officially had another thing to dangle in front of Joel and likewise for Julia. It was a win-win situation in Phobos’s favor. I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore ”Well you’re certainly not mom or Eros.”
She said with a smirk. But was it really that obvious that she was in love with Joel? Julia had seen it before, the lovesick couple who were obsessed with one another and made it painfully obvious. But she wasn’t like that, was she? She was so caught up in her thoughts that she nearly missed what Phobos said about Anthony and Cleopatra, more specifically about the latter. A daughter of Venus? What was that supposed to mean? Apparently it was funny to her half-brother, but the statement just left Julia confused. There wasn’t much time to think about that because he was focusing on her fear now. When he finally broke off the eye contact and she slipped back into reality it took Julia a few minutes to recover. If that was even the right word for it. The pain in her fingertips brought her attention to the broken remnants of her nails as she shrunk into the tree a bit more. Her eyes snapped up to Phobos when he spoke, though she tried her hardest to make sure there wasn’t a way for him to make eye contact again. ”I’ve found it to be quite helpful. It’s always nice to be able to be a bit more… persuasive.” She didn’t address her fear, not after what she had just seen. Instead she just took a breath to calm herself down, though she was barely able to stop herself from trying to claw out Phobos’ eyes with whatever nails she had left once he mentioned Joel; barely able to bite her tongue and stop from saying that he wouldn’t kill Joel no matter what… But she wasn’t sure she would be able to come up with some way she would be able to stop her half-brother. He was a god after all. ”Kill Percy Jackson and overthrow the Olympians? Is that all?” She asked, sarcasm creeping back into her voice despite the fear she felt around Phobos. ”And what then? I suppose you’ll just let everyone else live? There are going to be consequences…” She flinched as he moved closer and put his hand on her shoulder, sure that this would induce some other vision of her fear. Instead it was almost… nice? She wasn’t sure her half-brother could be nice. ”What kind of son would see his parents thrown into the depths of Tartarus?” She asked, turning to look at him and raising an eyebrow. ”You’re not really giving me much of a choice here. And I don’t suppose you would give me a little bit of time to think about it?” Though truly she couldn’t win either way. If she joined Phobos then she would have to hurt some of the people she cared about, the people she had met at camp and had grown to think of as a family and possibly even her mother. But if she fought against her brother it would mean fighting against Joel… She wouldn’t be able to live with herself if she did that. There had to be some way to help Joel without hurting anyone else she loved. Her gaze drifted away from the god and to the ground once more, trying to weigh her options. There had to be some way around everything without actually fighting for either side, she just needed time to think of what that was. She needed time to sort through everything that was running through her mind, from the shock about Joel to the choices she had to the sickness she was feeling at the idea of pitting loved ones against each other… Not to mention the effects she was still feeling from the vision Phobos had forced on her. Phobos could see that he wasn’t going to be able to convince his darling little sister so easily. He probably came on a little strong but he couldn’t help it. The idea of over throwing Olympus excited him and he had a tendency to get a little carried away. He was never good at subtly. True he was better than his brother Deimos who just ran into things without thinking. His brother had the brawn and Phobos had the brains. Fear was a psychological thing that rested in the minds of every living thing. It was what connected the humans together. If Phobos could unite the mortals under one common fear he could easily control them, and the same went for the demigods.
His lips curled upward in a smile. He was starting to like his half sister of Aphrodite, she was radiating fear as well as a strong will. True she would probably be against him in the long run but Phobos still held the upper hand. Phobos held the Ace card and didn’t plan on letting it go anytime soon, Joel would be the key to Julia’s undoing and vice versa. “You’re braver than I thought, but it won’t get you far. Bravery will just lead you to dangerous ideas like resisting the new rule that id destined to come.”
He rolled his eyes and gave a shrug. “I won’t need to kill those who choose to follow me. There is no point in killing those who are on my side. It is those who oppose me that will feel my wrath. That’s why it is safer to just submit. The Olympians have ruled too long and give no recognition to those of us who really matter.”
Phobos replaced his mischievous smirk with a kind and caring one. He was good at acting like he cared and actually gave a damn about the stupid pathetic demigods that ran around unchecked. For a moment Phobos believed Julia was buying into his kindness act but he would be a fool to think that she trusted him. He moved his hand down Julia’s arm slowly. “Let’s not get on the subject of what kind of son I am. The question is what kind of sister wouldn’t stand by her brother in a time of need? Or more important, what kind of girlfriend wouldn’t stand by her boyfriend?” He raised an eyebrow. “I mean, I don’t know if that’s what you and Joel are yet, but if you care for him in anyway you wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize that which is most important to him.”
Phobos pushed a strand of hair out of Julia’s face and eyed her up and down. “Of course you have a choice Sissy. Just know that the wrong one will get you and maybe even Joel killed.” He twirled a piece of her hair around his finger and chuckled softly. “I know how crucial this decision is for you so I’ll give you a day to think it over. In the mean time, why not ask fish boy what he is keeping from you? It may help you when deciding.” Phobos let go of her hair and backed away. The truth about Joel’s alliance with Phobos could have swayed Julia to resist him, this much Phobos knew. However, he could tell that she loved him and if all went according to plan she would do anything to help her new love interest including working with Phobos. Either way, Phobos had two things to hold over Joel now his sister and his new girlyfriend.
“You can either join me and live or fight against me and die like all of the others who resist.” He winked at Julia and vanished in a poof of yellow smoke. WORD COUNT"629 NOTES "CREEPER!

I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore He was smiling. Julia didn’t like her half-brother’s smile. It was terrifying. Or maybe that was just the residual fear she was feeling from everything that had happened in the time she had been with him. That was just as likely, but she couldn’t help but feel like there was something behind the smile. And then he called her brave. Surely he was trying something there. Brave was certainly a new one for Julia. Bravery wasn’t exactly on the list of traits for a child of Aphrodite. But he was right. She was feeling brave, and she had the courage to think about fighting against her brother.
The caring smile was back, and Julia had to admit she was a bit relieved by it. Even if she knew it wasn’t real it was about a thousand times better than when he was acting like she expected the god of fear to act. Even if it was true she had no reason to trust him. Especially when he said that the Olympians had been ignoring the gods who really mattered. All gods and goddesses mattered, and all mortals to be honest. She thought about arguing with him for a moment before he started talking again, playing on her comments about family and then bringing Joel into it again. What if he was right? Julia wouldn’t do anything that could hurt Joel, even if it was unintentional.
Julia pulled away slightly when he pushed away a strand of her hair, getting the feeling once more that he was just looking at her as a pawn in some sort of game. Tears brimmed in her eyes as his threat sunk in and the timeframe was given. A day? That wasn’t anywhere near long enough. What else could Joel be keeping from her? There was too much going on for her to even think clearly. As soon as the god was gone she lurched forward and started sobbing. She had to get out of the forest, that much she knew.
The demigod forced herself up and ran a hand through her hair before starting off back towards camp. She was a mess as she crashed through the trees, not even thinking about the noise she was making or the fact her clothes and hair were getting caught on branches and collecting leaves. She just wanted to find somewhere to think about all of this, somewhere that Joel wouldn’t be.
