Sophie sat back and closing her eyes, took in the sun. She loved just doing this. Once winter hit, that would be a sad time. She would miss the warmth; and when the snow hit… she shook her long brown hair not wanting to think about it. *Great is the sun, and wide he goes; Through empty heaven with repose; And in the blue and glowing days; More thick than rain he showers his rays. Though closer still the blinds we pull; To keep the shady parlor cool; Yet he will find a chink or two; To slip his golden fingers through. The dusty attic spider-clad; He, through the keyhole, maketh glad; And through the broken edge of tiles; Into the laddered hay-loft he makes his smile; He to his maid he makes his love In which ever way he takes the dove; Of empty clouds that make haven, He takes the name of sweet…Hayden…* She sat up then. Did she really just write that? “Well I guess love is my muse for poetry,” she muttered to herself, then smiled sitting back. Sighing she looked up watching the clouds. It really was a lovely day and she owed her father that much. The daughter of the Sun God couldn’t help but think though that something was wrong, or right in a matter of fact. Or just something big was about to happen in general. Something strange. She shook her head. No not today, she would not allow it. Her mind automatically went to her love ones. Harper and Hayden. The only ones in her life. Where were they? How were they? She hoped they were okay? She touched her bow and arrows beside her in thought.

Early morning, just about dawn, and Kakeru was making runs to bring some weapons and armor he made from the forge to the armory. At least, he was supposed to. But, one of the shields had fallen from the crate, and rolled into the lake. Of course, Kakeru would have gone to got it, but he never learned how to swim. So, he asked a Naiad to help. Said Naiad refused. Of course, Kakeru wasn't pleased. He started shouting at the Naiad, cursing in a mixture of Ancient Greek and Japanese. In retaliation, the Naiad shot a bit of water at Kakeru's face, cracking a joke about cooling off, which just caused Kakeru to get angrier, his hair firing up a bit and the water on his face evaporating into steam.
Kakeru sighed, before speaking in a calmer tone to the Naiad. "Will you PLEASE give me back that shield? It's for the camp armory. I'd get it myself, but I can't swim! We can't afford to waste any armor. Especially not Celestial Bronze shields. Please?" The Naiad chuckled, before waving her index finger and making a tsk tsk sound. "Sorry hun, but if you want it, you'll have to go get it. I'm not going to do you any favors."
With another sigh, Kakeru sat his heavy crate down, and plopped down on the sand of the beach. He glared at the Naiad, and spoke lowly. "Name. Mine's Kakeru." The Naiad chuckled, ignoring his question and just splashing him with more water. Kakeru sighed, and spoke once more. "I'm not leaving until I get that shield. And I don't think Chiron would like the armory being short this much equipment."

She reached over to her bag, and grabbed out her notebook quickly writing it down. That really was her only muse for poetry. Love. She played with her necklace; that her mother had given her before her death; in thought. Closing her notebook and sliding it back inside of her bag she looked up as she heard arguing and she sat up. *Well so much for a good day* she thought. Looking around she saw a boy there about her age. “Hey!” she replied getting up and going over to him. “Do you need help?” she asked. She saw the shields in the water, nodded politely to the Naiad, one she liked to talk to from time to time. Sophie tried asked her nicely if she would give her the shields, at least. But when the naiad refused once more, and told her to get it herself, Sophie nodded. “Alright then,” she replied. She took off her jacket, converse, socks and dove in. After retrieving the shields, she swam back to shore, placing them down by the boy, she sat at the water’s edge. As she was squeezing her hair to get it dried and Naiad started to complian. “Sophie! You should have put him in his place! He should have gotten them himself!” She shook her head. “You should know me by now, Kenda, I’m just to nice,” she replied. The Naiad shot water at her then went away. Shaking her head she looked at the boy. “Sorry about her, and don’t mind. I’m Sophie. Daughter of Apollo. You are?” she asked the boy. He looked new, at least to her as she had never seen him before. He looked like a Hephaestus kid. She got that from his. Something she was good at reading. outfit.

Kakeru sighed as he sat there, glaring at the Naiad. If looks could kill, the Naiad would have been to Hades and back at least a hundred times. Then, suddenly, a young girl about Kakeru's age walked up, and offered to help him. Kakeru nodded, and replied lowly. "I-If you don't mind. I'd get them myself, but I...well, I can't swim." Kakeru pointed out to the shields, a slightly shy look on his face. Normally, he'd be his calm, collected self, if not a little stoic, but he was embarassed about his little flaw. He hung his head, until heard a splashing sound, jumping to his feet in surprise.
Kakeru picked up the shield, placing it in the box, before walking back over to the girl, and crouching down to her, responding to her introduction with his own. "Kakeru. Kakeru Vulcan Sidirou. Son of Hephaestus, if the crate of armaments didn't give that away. Thanks for the help. In all my eight years here at Camp, I've never gotten along very well with the Nymphs or Naiads. The Naiads tease me ceaselessly because I can't swim, and the Nymphs, well, let me show you."
At the sound of the word "you", fires danced in Kakeru's hand, as a wave of warmth, or rather, a mild heat, floated towards Sophie, drying her off very quickly. He sighed, and his hair sparked and danced with tiny flames, before he quickly patted them down. "My Father's Blessing of Fire. It's wondrous in the forge, but the Nymphs are always afraid I'll set them on fire if I sneeze, even though I keep telling them I have no allergies, and I have pretty good control of my fires. And around Mortals, the Mist can only cover so much. Kind of hard to explain flaming hair on an otherwise normal teenager, so I have to be extra careful with it." With a sigh, the flames died, and Kakeru let himself fall back, laying on the sand. He stared at the sky, his flaming crimson eyes flickering in the early light. He raised up his right arm, and stared at his bracelet, jingling the charms a little.

The eldest daughter of Apollo nodded. “It is alright. Not everyone can be good at everything, she smiled as she sat on the ledge, keeping her feet dipped into the nice waters. The day really was lovely and it made her think of going to Florida or somewhere warm for when the winter months. Nah not alone. Then again, what if she went with Harper for the winter holidays. But she didn’t want to be a burden and yeah she was confused now.
“Well that is not very nice,” was the young girls reply. Eight years? Why hadn‘t she seen him before? “I am finishing my second summer year,” she explained. “I’m considered one of those year round campers,” she added. She skipped a rock in thought. Winter was coming closer and she would be alone again. Harper and Aria would be gone and she would have the cabin to herself like last year. She looked at him as he talked getting to know him.
Sophie felt his warmth, along with her father’s sun. The double warmth seemed to make the daughter of Apollo glow a bit. She smiled. “That’s really cool though. I’m sure you don’t mean them no harm… after all water puts out fire…or um… wait never mind,” she smiled a little trying to help. She laid back and looked at the clouds seeing nothing but there cotton candy shapes. Just once she wished she saw something else. With her ADHD you would think that would not be a problem.
