Edmund had been drifting around the volleyball courts for about a day now. After going up and seeing the climbing wall and then seeing nothing else with lots of people, just running into a large body of water, it just made sense to work his way down. Edmund passed the amphitheater where he had spent a few days. After passing there, he had remembered passing an arts and crafts center. He so needed to poke his head in there next! All the pretty stuff in there was so...well, pretty! All the glitter and everything was so shiny.... There were cute ribbons, and masks that could be painted and colored on; paints, crayons, colored pencils, and everything else an arts person could want!
He blinked, not realizing that he had been drifting backwards, towards that arts and crafts center. He giggled and zoomed forward again, feeling the wind rush right through him. It tickled! He bounced in mid air; he had been watching campers throw up a ball and hit it back and forth. From the sound it made, it sounded like it was hard. Those camper's arms must be really strong to hit it back and forth like that. Once, the ball went right through him with a lot of wind force. It backed up his thoughts about its heaviness. He still watched in awe, pretty sure that none of them could see him. Who wouldn't notice an eight year old ghost playing on the net like a jungle gym? Even though he went straight through it, it was fun!
He had watched a few people play a game; continually hitting the ball over the net, but didn't know exactly what it was called. Whatever it was called, it looked fascinating! He was guessing something 'ball' because that's what most sports were usually called when it involved a throwing ball. His mind started reeling with all the cool name possibilities. Netball? HitBall... he watched the ball go back and forth. Whenever it hit the ground, the opposite side seemed to get the point that the ball had fallen on. So INTERESTING! Edmund didn't even keep score though, he just liked watching the pretty ball get hit back and forth.
Sometimes, from where he was drifting, the ball looked like it blocked out the sun. It looked rather pretty! Once or twice, the ball hit the net and it swayed a little. Edmund giggled, it was like him when he was up on the trees and a strong wind would go by. So scary, yet so exhilarating. He drifted off the net to be on the ground. Even though he was a ghost and could fly and all, he still liked to be around, on the earth. He had decided that he could stay in a comfy tree that he had found. Almost like his home when he was alive.
