Ellie sat by the water, occasionally throwing small pebbles in. As each tiny stone hit the water, it rippled outwards until the water became still again. The girl felt like that sometimes. She would get so wracked up, nervous and frazzled, and then had to calm herself down. The "calming down" part took a while, but it'd happen eventually. As crazy as it sounded, Ellie was still trying to calm down from her first big Camp wake up call. She had been behind the shadows of Half Blood more than ever since the Great Hall food fight that had occurred. Lucky her had been in the Hall for the most of it. After that, she had made herself as small and unnoticeable as possible. The food fight was her first taste of how crazy Camp actually was; one or two people had actually referred to it as "fun". Ellie, on the other hand, did not, in any way shape or form think that being a target of food was fun at any stretch of the imagination. Especially since most of the people who had been chucking it had great aim. Almost a 100% guarantee that the projectiles would hit.
She had guessed that good aim had come from practicing with weapons. Something that the daughter of Poseidon dreaded: fighting. Since coming into Camp boundaries, she had brought herself to start trying to learn how to fight with a dagger. Successful? Not at all, but she was trying. Ellie's combination of her natural shyness plus her intense dislike for violence didn't really make her a great fighter. If she could, she'd rely on the water and her ability to manipulate it for "fighting" but she knew that it wouldn't always be around for her to use. Besides that, she needed to actually learn how to manipulate the water and how to control her powers. She had tried moving water once or twice and she always felt a twist somewhere in her body. Once, she was able to do it; she had made the water rise, but then she had no idea what to do with it, so she had just let it fall back into the ocean. Not a very successful self learner.
More recently, she had wanted to ask Percy for help, but her shyness and him being sort of very sad and confused prevented her from doing so. Or at least, that's what he had seemed to her. She had been in worry the entire time that he had been away. Gods, he had scared her to death, coming back with a supposedly dead person and then an actual dead person. Freaky, lovely life of a demigod. Feeling that she couldn't sit still any longer, Ellie stood up and started pacing. Her attention was diverted from the water as a wind swept through. Ellie's eyes scanned the area and then glanced up at the clouds, starting to watch them move. She randomly wondered if there was anyone taking a Pegasai lesson. It was sort of windy for them to be flying up there today.

Overwhelmed was an understatement. She was thrust into a new country, far from home or anything that reminded her of home. Word to or from her mother wouldn't be received today, she would have to wait a little while. Her first impression of the place was a jumble of things. The boy she met in the armory seemed nice enough, but the camp was more than just him. It was the Strawberry fields, dangerous training, strange rituals, and it seemed that the whole place was run by an angry little man and a centaur. Iris wasn't even sure she believed centaurs existed. Making the whole experience a dream, or a hallucination was highly tempting, but it was difficult to have herself truly believe her own story. The land on which the camp sat was a huge area. The tour was brief, and there were things she didn't understand. Capture the Flag? Different cabins for different parents? Greek mythology was never something she even considered being interested in, much less knew things about. Iris was sure it would take at least a few days to explore the whole thing, and even longer to find the little nooks and crannies that held something lesser known. There was something for everyone, though she wasn't quite sure what she was looking for at the moment. Something in the back of her mind told her to go make new friends, but that was scary. She was never one to have good social skills, and besides, how was she to know where the nice people hung out? Perhaps a place to take it all in or find peace and quiet. Iris opted for the lake-- it was a little windy, and she figured there would be less people outside. Really, which cabin was which and the one belonged in was all very confusing to her, so she stuck out the chill and rubbed her arms instead of finding her duffle bag. Where things were startedo haze and merge together now, so she wandered in the general direction she thought the lake might be. It turned out to be the right way, and now relieved, Iris found herself approaching the shore. The breeze and the soft lapping of water distracted her, and it wasn't until she placed herself right beside Ellie that she realized someone else was there. The girl was younger looking, and gazed at the sky, making Iris also look up, wondering what was there. She saw nothing. It seemed fairly harmless to speak to this girl, but if she tunred out to be a jerk, Iris was sure to high-tail it out of there. "What are you looking at?" she asked quietly, genuine curiosity in her voice. Words: 463.

Ellie still felt home sick. Even though she had been at Camp since nearly March, she still wasn't feeling that this was home. Not by any stretch of the imagination. She knew this was childish and this was supposed to be a rough and tough camp and all, but she really wanted her mother. The whole "you're a demigod, monsters are supposed to be out to get you," and "there's a thing called the Mist, making mortals not see what we can", stuff was still trying to really seep in. One would think after a few months it would, just naturally; not with Ellie. Now she had two things to calm down from: arriving from Camp and being involved in a food fight. Of course, she hadn't actually been the one throwing food or being aimed at or anything, but just watching it was unsettling.
So far, Ellie had only managed to map out where everything else was at Camp so she didn't have to go around looking like an idiot. She almost knew where everything was, cabin positions included. Now all she had to do was really pay attention in Ancient Greek history classes and not get into any trouble. She did not want to come face to face with Mr. D anytime soon. He was rather horrible from what she had heard... Another, stronger breeze blew through the area; it shot her long black hair and bangs behind her. Note to self: get a hair tie or something to keep hair back. Her hair going all over the place wouldn't really be the most helpful when she trained. As the wind passed, Ellie used her hand to move her bangs into their previous position.
The daughter of Poseidon didn't notice that someone was there until they spoke up. She had been so intent on looking at different clouds and how they moved when the wind blew. She was still also looking out for Pegasai, and hoping that they were all safe in their stalls. The girl jumped slightly as a voice reached her ears. Ellie was the... jumpy type, not on guard often and easily scared. "O-oh... h-hi..." she stammered quietly, half looking at the ground and shifting her weight. "S-sorry... I-I d-didn't see y-you t-there." Stammering was a thing that Ellie wanted to overcome, but she had no idea how to. Any time anyone talked to her, it was her regular speech pattern.
She looked at the new girl curiously. It was a new girl to Ellie, anyway. She probably didn't know 7/8ths of Camp. The brown haired girl looked older too; now a days, more older demigods were showing up. Ellie didn't mind, but it was slightly unsettling to be one of the only young ones there. "J-Just a-at the sk-sky i-in gen-general..." the girl said quietly. In honesty, she loved watching the elements. Air counted as the sky. She took a deep breath, the only way to get past this stutter was to talk more; hopefully it'd get better, not worse. "I-I was j-just wonder-wondering i-if th-there were a-any P-pegasi out... b-because i-it's r-rather... r-rather windy..." Well, that was a fail.

An almost shocked look came over her face as Ellie jerked away at the sound of her voice. Was she so scary? Oh, she'd terrorized the poor thing; what should she do now? Iris had concern and worry written all over her. Now in addition to the number of things that made her uneasy about being here in the first place, there was 'scaring younger children out of the skins' to add to that list. It was an accident! Honest. There was no way you could claim bollocks on her defense-- I mean look at her. She was distraught knowing that the girl in front of her was trembling in her socks. It was slightly reassuring that Ellie wouldn't break down into tears of fear when she spoke again, but given he string of events since she arrived in New York, anything could happen. Maybe things weren't too different here, but it just had a different feel. The vibe of London was hella far away, and even further off was Renfrew. How she missed her little hometown. Being home sick wasn't an issue when she had moved, but once she was fly over the ocean, basically kicked out to New York-- that was a whole new kind of moving. Maybe that was it! She was foreign, and that was weird! A funny accent and an absurd ignorance of some things must be the scary factor of her. Sadly, there wasn't anything to be done about that now, so Ellie was just going to have to make do with the quiet London girl. Iris listened carefully to the timid words, nodding, trying to be friendly and comforting as much as possible. But hell, did something people around here said confuse her. "Err... don't think I'm daft for asking, but," she had heard the word before, but that was about all she knew. "What's a pegasi?"Words: 328.

Ellie watched as the older girl's face turned into shock. She felt guilty, she really needed to loosen up... she was horrible around people. "O-oh... s-sorry!" the daughter of Poseidon apologized. "I-It's m-me..." she said quietly. "I-I'm n-natrually j-jumpy is... is all," Ellie said, a slight smile flickering over her face. She just wanted to let the girl know that she hadn't done anything wrong. Ellie was just shy by nature, something she seriously needed to get over. It was silly really; how was she going to survive surrounded by rough and tough fighters if she stayed like this? It wasn't going to be smooth sailing, but she could at least try. She gave the girl another smile, trying to reassure her that she was alright. Her mother had told her that she had never been this way when she was a kid. Being bullied and shoved around while being a demigod must of had something to do with it.
Then again, getting bullied and moving half their lives was the life of a demigod, yet most of the Camp wasn't like Ellie. It had to be something in the genes. She still couldn't believe that she had agreed to stay the year, it was almost depressing. The girl wanted her mother, as childish as that sounded. Her mother had always just been there and now since she was at Camp, she just wasn't anywhere except in a picture that Ellie kept under her pillow. Camp life was so different then life at a normal Brigid house, but Ellie could probably adapt. She had had several homes and had been to several schools, but it had taken a few months for her to even feel remotely comfortable. Camp would be no different, although it was proving to take longer to feel comfortable. It was mostly because nothing, absolutely nothing was familiar. She didn't have her mother, and she was sharing a cabin with an almost perfect stranger.
Just like different schools, Camp had different nationalities. Ellie was half Chinese and she was soon coming to realize that not all people who came here were necessarily American. Not that she was prejudice or anything, it was interesting indeed, but Ellie would of thought that perhaps they would of had another Camp for half bloods. Perhaps one in every continent or something. Besides, the gods just didn't go around messing with mortals in America. It was going on everywhere in the world... right? If all the half bloods came to this Camp specifically, wouldn't it be overflowing with people? Ellie mentally sighed. All these new concepts... some of them still didn't make any sense to her, even if she had spent several months here.
She was shaken out of her thoughts when the older girl spoke up again. Ellie gave her a slight smile. She'd never think of her badly for not knowing. True, the thirteen year old had heard of them during class and in stories, but until she came here, she didn't know that they actually existed. That went for a lot of things that she was learning about here. "O-of c-course not. They-they're h-horses... with-with wings..." she informed the girl. "I-I ju-just h-heard about them... in-in stories... It wasn't until I-I came h-here th-that I l-learned a-all about them and t-that they a-actually e-existed."

Iris returned the tiny smile, thought there was concern still peeking through her expression. Even with Ellie's reassuring, she was such a shy introverted girl that you couldn't help thinking that you spooked the poor thing right out of her skin. But in a way, the older girl could relate. There were far too many unfamiliar things at this place for Iris to be comfortable. whole bunch of new people, unexplored places to see, and many thing she thought were "myths" to be proved true. No doubt there were going to be numerous bumps int he road-- her lifestyle was going to be flipped upside down. Training? With swords and shields? Sure, she felt some sort of affinity with the slabs of metal, but if you wanted to get her comfortable you better get her a beaten up, old car she could fix. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like there was a vehicle in all of the expanse of the camp. "Don't jump too far, you'll fall in the water."It was a sad and miserably failing attempt at being somewhat humorous and friendly. It wasn't funny at all. She had never been a jokester, and often took things at a literal level, so with the little practice at being entertaining, it was clearly not her strong point. Why her mother sent her to New York puzzled her. Were these the only half-gods out there? I couldn't be, gods were well... gods. She had been born and raised in the UK, didn't it make more sense to find a place for her there? There hadn't been much time before she left, and ther hadn't been a chance to ask her mother. Perhaps it was some sort of preference of her mothers, though she had also been a child of Europe. The best thing Iris could come up with was that America was the center of the world. One of the most powerful countries, with one of the strongest currencies... surely it would be a "better" place to learn and things. It was far, so very far from the place where all the incidents happened. And what better place in the United States then the big apple itself, New York? But still, it worried her being so far from home. This place was going to take a lot of time before she considered it "home". How long would it take to learn what she needed? How long did she need to stay here? When whould she see her mother again? She didn't know. And it was unnerving. If she were younger, Iris supposed she might be ask shaky and fretful as Ellie in this situation. The explanation of pegasi made her furrow her brows again. How many times had that happened today? Well, the first day always throws you way too much information for you to soak up. She looked up at the skies, but nothing but the clouds morphing moved. Hearing that the other girl had also been skeptical kind of comforted her a little. "Well, it's my first day, and I can't stop learning what exists. Gods, winged horses... us. I mean... how much more am I oblivious of?"Words: 547

Ellie wasn't sure if she'd ever feel truly comfortable around here. She was used to being shoved around to different locations, but she wanted to stay with her mother. They had agreed that she'd try a whole year, but Ellie had a feeling that she'd be begging to go home by the end of the summer. Creepy things had been happening around here. A camper had turned up dead and then her brother had had to go on a quest. She had worried about him the entire time, wondering if he was okay. From what she had heard about quests, they were supposed to be very dangerous, few ever survived. Percy had come back with a live boy and a dead boy... which had really confused her. She had heard that the live one was Luke Castellean, back from the dead. The "back from the dead" part was the thing that was freaking her out. She didn't know how anyone could come back from the dead... she had heard that there was the underworld god Hades (who was now her uncle) but she didn't know if he ever let anyone out or not. It was all so confusing.
All she wanted to do was to go back home, away from all these warriors and away from where monsters and gods wanted to kill demigods. Ellie was quite fine when she didn't know that she was a demigod. True, it was scary every time something attacked, but at least she would of stayed with her mom. Then Jacquelyn had told her that she was in the most danger because she was a child of the so called "Big Three" of Poseidon, Zeus and Hades. Why did the kids of the Big Three have to be the ones most prone to monster attacks? Ellie sighed in frustration. She held nothing against him, but she was Poseidon's and therefore a kid of the Big Three. She didn't know if she could handle all of the power and whatnot that came with it.
She had to grin at the girl as she made the joke, she gave a nervous laugh. A true smile appearing on her face for the first time in a long time. Ellie wasn't ever the joking type, but she knew a joke when she heard one. "S-sorry... s-so r-rude o-of me.... What-what's your name?" Ellie asked the girl, loosing some of her stammer. Even though she had been in camp for a few months, she [probably hadn't even seen half of the camper here. The reason probably being because she usually was in her cabin, in the stables, staying away and sort of hiding from everyone. She'd only train when she had to, and when she did, she was horrible at it.
The girl still looked confused and Ellie understood. Her mother had explained a good deal of it to her before taking Ellie to camp, but Ellie hadn't really believed her until she had gotten there. After Ellie had been brought into the camp, she got even more explanations from Annabeth, Percy and a handful of other older Campers. It was so much information, to much to process and take in in one day. Some of the things they had said were still trying to digest and Ellie was still learning something new every day. "I-It's fine... I was s-so confused m-my first day... I-I still am some-sometimes." She smiled at the girl. "W-well... that's-that's a good s-start..." she said, nodding. "Th-that's f-fine for the fi-first day. Don't let p-people shove to-too many things into your h-head a-at once... l-learn a-at your own p-pace. Know-knowing those things a-are p-pretty m-major... the-the r-rest you can... can learn on-on the j-job," she said, a reassuring smile on her face.

Hearing a laugh was a relief; she felt as if it might be nice being here. Yes, there were numerous, no, uncountable insecurities and concerns, but getting some amusement was a start. Even if it was just a little bit. And to think! Iris hadn't even put herself on the line to crack a joke, she did it all by herself! A very good start if she said so herself. Perhaps if things continued like this, Camp Half Blood may feel something of a home. London, and even more her hometown Renfrew, were dearly missed, though the thought of sleeping here tonight was becoming less a dread and more just a necessary adventure. Iris smiled right back at the girl, her plain face lighting up in the expression. Her eyes widened when asked her name. "Here I am, fluffing up my first impressions," she muttered, rubbing her nose, and turning pink in embarrassment. "Should'a said so sooner, soz. My name's Iris Grear. What's yours?"Sticking out her hand for a shake, someone who was looking for the right things could probably know her Olympian parent from looking at what was extended out. Her fingers were slender, sinewy rather than chubby. As dainty as they looked a close inspection brought up callouses on the tips of some appendages and on the part of the palm under the fingers. Her nails were kept short, a slightly dirty off-color clinging to her cuticles. Traits of someone who worked with their hands, a little something in the children of Hephaestus. Not that she really knew that-- or cared too much. Lifting a hand to scratch her head, she looked up tot he skies once again. And as before, nothing but clouds. "I suppose you're right. But I feel like I've been thick as a brick all these years. I mean, I thought I was an Atheist! Guess that's not the way I'll be from now on... she let her voice trail off, and a pause in her words let the breeze splash some water onto the shore stones. Giving her companion an apologetic look, she started again. "Soz... I don't even know you, but I'm spouting things out like no tomorrow."Words: 386.

Ellie was horrible at hiding her emotions. She knew that it was bad when fighting, but Ellie had never really had to fight before. Her temper was pretty even, and she had never really lost control of herself. It had only happened twice. While watching the older girl, Ellie tried not to look too nervous and shy, but as always, it was showing through quite plainly. Every where that she had gone, she had been judged. New beginnings didn't exactly mean new treatment, but Ellie wished it was that way. Perhaps here would be slightly different. At least she was with her own type now. Maybe they'd understand.
The thirteen year old watched the older girl's face light up and she couldn't help but smile back again. So she wasn't only useful for monster destruction! "N-no... y-you're not... y-you're f-fine," Ellie said quietly. She knew about the whole judge by first impressions deal. "O-oh n-no p-pr-problem... I-I sh-should o-of th-thought of... of i-it sooner..." she apologized. "N-nice t-to meet y-you I-Iris..." the daughter of Poseidon said, giving the girl a smile. Wasn't Iris the goddess of the rainbow? From what she had heard Athena say, saying the name's of deities had power. Ellie didn't really believe in that taboo stuff, but now that she was at Half Blood, she really didn't know what to believe and what not too.
"M-my n-name's Ellie," the girl responded somewhat shyly. She hoped staying low had helped her chances of being known as a kid of the Sea god had diminished. Not that she wasn't happy with her lineage, but she didn't really like drawing attention to herself much. She shook Iris' hand. The girl seemed rather nice. Her hands were a bit rough, like she worked with them a lot. Ellie didn't mind; she admired people who did work like that... it looked rather interesting.
She nodded in agreement. "S-same h-here... m-my m-mom di-didn't t-tell m-me ab-about t-this until... until a f-few m-months a-ago... sh-she tr-tried t-to h-hint a-at it... but-but I n-never be-believed her..." If she had believed her, Ellie might of gone to Camp half blood sooner. One never would of known what could of happened and there was no good coming from dwelling in the past. Ellie grinned. "I-I gu-guess w-we all h-had o-our d-different re-religions b-before f-finding o-out ab-about th-this..." Ellie nodded in agreement. She had thought that she had been Christian and now here she was... worshiping a lot of gods. Which was a big no no in Christian faith.
"O-oh n-no... n-no pr-problem... i-it's f-fine... I-I fe-feel l-like I'm d-doing th-the s-same... s-sorry..." She had to admit though, talking things out with someone else who still was still confused was helping the thirteen year old.OOC: Sorry for lateness again! Ellie, huh? I was a popular name in the U.K., and it felt strange to hear it the way a New Yorker said it. But there was this friendship starting to form (or so she hoped) so she had better get used to it. As for her own name, well, she barely knew left from right, or what was what in Greek mythology, how was she supposed to know her name was that of the Rainbow goddess? And that is was something of a no-no to share a name-- oops. Seventeens years too late to realize it was an oops. But as complacent and still natured as Iris seemed to be, there was a streak of some sort or stubbornness. There was no way a name change would be in order. If you didn't like her name, then don't say it! It was good Iris found someone else who had been in her shoes, not too long ago. Cameron, the boy she met earlier seemed to know so darn much, it was slightly intimidating. He left her thinking "I have to know all that?" and she could hardly believe it. But Ellie was much more calming, comforting and relaxing. Like when you ran away from home just to sit by yourself and watch the tides of the ocean, or escaped tot he woods just to breath the earthy smell of the trees and flora. There was something about the younger girl that Iris felt she could trust in, and that they had been in the same situation made Iris feel even more that the two had some sort of connection. This was someone she wanted as a friend. AS she had before, Iris kept quiet when her companion spoke, or else she could barely hear the girl. But there was something to be heard. Multiple times. "Stop saying sorry," came out bluntly. "You don't have to apologize every time you open your mouth y'know?" Holding out her hand, she counted out on her fingers. "Must have said it three or four times by now, and we've known each other, what, five minutes?" Unable to contain a chuckle, Iris gave the girl a 'oh you, silly, you' look. Words: 380.

Ever since she was a little girl, Ellie had interest in names. She had no idea why, but she just did. Their origin, what they meant, what was popular and the like. From what she had looked up, Ellie was popular in Britain and the girl was Chinese. Her Chinese roots was the cause of her middle name of YiAn, or joyful peace. Iris, the girl infront of her, was the goddess of the rainbow. The daughter of Poseidon wondered if the mother or father named her intentionally or not, knowing (or not knowing) whether she'd end up in this Camp. It didn't seem that the gods were punishing her or anything just because she had a name of an immortal. Why they would was beyond Ellie's thoughts. Ellie really didn't care, her life had already been recked by monsters, so whatever, she'd just go around saying what she'd like. Fear of the name only increased fear of the thing of itself, anyway. Sure, Ellie was sorta, very intimidated by the whole immortal situation, but she wasn't going to stop saying names of people just because of that. Besides, Ellie thought Iris was a rather pretty name.
Sometimes Camp truly felt so overwhelming to the thirteen year old. Once or twice she had actually wanted to run out and get back to her mother. Then she remembered that they had made an agreement for her to try the whole year... without freaking out to that extent. Ellie had already freaked out on everyone. Forget about the kids of the Big Three being all powerful and good leaders and all that carp. Ellie didn't fit the bill on anything they said. Sure, she needed to improve, and by the looks of what happened on her brother's quest, fast. She still didn't feel at home at all, and she was beginning to wonder if that was bad. It probably was, because then you didn't feel any loyalty and then you would just skip out on them when they needed everyone on deck. Ellie was more of the non-confrentational type, but if it came to it, she'd attempt to fight. Attempt, as in no promises on how it would turn out. Ellie would probably get her butt kicked.
Ellie honestly didn't mind the girl being blunt with her. The girl had been rebuked so much since she was little that it mostly just bounced off her. She half didn't care what anyone thought. Sure, words could and would hurt a bit, but they could never hurt more than it had every day of her life just trying to be her. "Ha-habit..." Ellie muttered back, giving the older girl an apologetic smile. "J-just l-like t-the stammering... I-I know... I-I've g-got t-to s-sort o-of nip i-it..." she confessed. Yes, the girl did know that she had a stammering problem and she knew that she had to correct it, the problem was that she wasn't doing such a great job.OOC: Sry for lateness! Habits were a hard thing to reverse, but if you worked at it and consciously thought to straighten it out, it was possible. She heard it all the time; "Don't make a bad habit or it will be hard to fix." Iris didn't have any particular habits, much less a "bad" one, but it was just one of those common knowledge things. Habits stuck around for a while. There were a few people she knew at her old school that had the same stammering issue as Ellie, and over the years, she watched them as they tried to remedy it. One of them came from a wealthy family-- she had gotten speech therapy and came out just fine. The other tried home methods, and he turned out alright. He tripped over his words sometimes, under stress or nerves, but for the most part, he spoke just as well as anyone else. "It's hard to kick the habit, but," Iris tried to give a comforting smile. "I'm sure you can do it." It might have been useless. Without the experience herself, it something more like sympathy going out to the younger camper. She had not a clue how to remedy stutters, but the combined efforts of the two of them sure could find something to do about it. "If you'd like we could work together," at that point, Iris gave a real smile, wide and toothy. "I don't mind, I like you."Ellie wasn't the first person she met here, but she was the person who the British girl felt most comfortable around by far. Maybe it was the gender connection she and Cameron didn't posses, or it was the quiet, calming aura she emanated, but there was just something that let her feel all right. Words: 311. Ellie was pretty much a nervous habit sort of person. She knew that a lot of people called them bad habits, but the girl believed that not all habits had to be bad. Sure, she stammered a lot and rubbed things when she was alone, but that was about it. She didn't crack her knuckles (the sound werided her out too much) and she didn't bite her nails. Even though countless people had suggested it to her, Ellie saw no need for therapy, she hated the idea... with a huge passion. She could get by this herself. No one offered her therapy after this whole Greek World was introduced to her, and she was coping fine.
The daughter of Poseidon gave Iris a smile. "T-thanks..." she said sincerely. The older girl had to be the first person in a long time, besides her mother, that actually believed in her. Believed that she could actually do something. Everywhere else, she was just a hopeless cause and a troublemaker. Ellie could correct this with hard work and persistence, right? Those, plus a conscious mind that she was doing it. She may not loose all her stammer, especially in pressuring and nerve wracking situations, but she could possibly loose it enough to talk like a normal kid. Or, as normal as a demigod could get. "Oh... I-I'd like... like th-that," Ellie agreed, nodding. "If... If you d-don't m-mind..." Slight color entered Ellie's tan complexion as the older girl spoke. "Th-thanks... I, I like y-you t-too."
Looking at the girl, a curiosity of her parent came to mind. It was sort of good that she was new; Iris hopefully wouldn't know that she was Percy Jackson's sister. Not that Ellie resented it majorly or anything, it was just a bit nerve wracking, being a hero's sister and a kid of the Big Three. She was almost the opposite of her brother in the whole hero department. She liked to stay away from confrontation, was shy, didn't know how to use weapons and wasn't much of a leader. Since Ellie didn't much match her brother, she didn't necessarily care about house stereotypes. There could be a nice Ares kid, or a mean Apollo kid, right? For now, Cabin was just an object of curiosity, but surely she'd see Iris at one of the many eating tables.OOC: Lol, np! ^^ Character Name: Ellie Brigid-Daughter of Poseidon Mood: Nervous, Slightly Happy To: Iris Grear-Daughter of Hephaestus IC Word Count: 412

It seemed that her encouragement had a positive effect. Ellie didn't look as scared and timid as before. The smile Iris received was cute, honest, and radiated hope. Hope that there was something that could be done by herself. The two didn't know each other well, but the older girl could tell that without the right prodding and poking, Ellie probably wouldn't venture out much or try things. In a way, they were similar. Auto-technology, wood working, ceramics... those were the only things Iris had liked when she went to school. Other courses? There wasn't a chance that she wanted to try them. This is what she liked, and she stuck with it. The decision paid off though, since her excellence with cars had earned her some money, even if it was chump change in the scheme of things. She could have worked for an auto-shop, but she chose just to work from her own driveway. This was what she liked, and she just stayed true to that. "I'm sure we could meet up again, yeah?" giving the same smile, Iris kept up her comforting mannerism. But she was sure it would take some time to find Ellie again. For one, the Camp grounds were huge, and it would be very easy to bypass someone or miss them by going a different way. Two, Iris had no idea how to find Ellie after. Her likes, hobbies, her cabin. She didn't know any of that. But in a way, that was better. She felt as if she has gotten to meet his girl without all that already planted into her mind. Without those, there were no stereotypes or judgements made prematurely. "But, err, how would I find you though... Is there somewhere everyone gets together all at once?" Maybe it was good timing, or perhaps it was a sign. Her stomach grumbled. A surprised expression turned up on her face, followed by embarrassment. She always hated it when it did that; growling loudly when there was a break in conversation so to be audible to all. Although it was a fair signal-- she hadn't eaten since she had been on the plane to New York. That was a hell of a long time ago, actually. Looking sheepish, she unknowingly narrowed down her questions further. "Um, where does one eat around here?"Words: 405.

Ellie really knew that she had to buck up. She flinched at the slightest things and had the worst stomach imaginable for blood. Being a demigod and all (particularly one of the Big Three), one was supposed to be a good leader and show demonstrations of power and blah, blah, blah. This daughter of Poseidon on the other hand had to play the "warm up to people game". Yet another habit that she had to get out of. Why couldn't she just be social and get over it? Any time she had tried being social, or had tried to be her, it ended up as a monster appearing, or getting expelled from a school... or coming to Camp.
She was quite sure that there were other people here who came with a much worse background, so Ellie shouldn't of early of been complaining, but the truth was... she was actually really scared at Camp. She didn't want to be a demigod and she didn't want to fight or go on heroic adventures or anything. Ellie just wanted to sit by the lake and swim, with only the dread of going to school, but that wouldn't happen now. She was a demigod, and there was nothing that she could do about it. The thirteen year old gritted her teeth, starting to think that she was being a tad bit selfish.
The teenager was shaken out of her thoughts as the older girl spoke again. "O-of..." she bit her tongue. "Yes... we, we c-could..." Ellie tried, conscious of her speech pattern. That only time would probably be during the Sing-Along in the Amphitheater or during meal times. Other times, Camp life was just going too fast for anyone to really take in another. Besides, the grounds were huge with Campers everywhere, they could easily miss eachother unless one had a very keen eye. "Um... w-well, there's... the-the Mess Hall, where-where w-we, we're set-set up by O-Olympian p-parent... so it's-it's sort of... of easy t-to find people... that, that way," the girl said, trying her best to avoid stumbling over her words. Easy, unless they wanted to skip a meal. "And... and we, we're also sorted by-by parent in, in the c-cabins... and th-then m-most of, of us... we go to the Amphitheater every, every night af-after d-dinner."
A second of two after, a slight growl reached her ears. Ellie was about to shove it off as a weird, random Camp noise when she saw Iris start to color. "Hun-hungry?" Ellie asked, a slight grin lighting up her face. "Oh... that-that'd be... be the, the M-Mess Hall as, as w-well," Ellie explained. There had been a food fight there earlier during the summer. Not one of her best times. Food and chaos everywhere. Then again, this Camp seemed to like chaos. "I-I'll take you... if-if you-you'd l-like..." the thirteen year old offered. To be honest, she was quite hungry too. It was an odd hour, but whatever, they always had some food out.OOC: Sorry for this wait *hangs head in shame* Character Name: Ellie Brigid-Daughter of Poseidon Mood: Shy To: Iris Grear-Daughter of Hephaestus IC Word Count: 538
