ATHENA, Goddess of Wisdom, Battle Strategy and Art
Name::Athena
Nickname::~
Age::Innumerable
Gender::Female
Species:: God
Olympian Parent:: Zeus
Celebrity Claim: Melina Kanakaredes
Looks:: Described as the one of the most beautiful of Olympus' flowers, Athena is beauty, and is often described by her mortals as the most attractive thing they have seen. She generally makes a snide comment about Aphrodite.
Athena has striking gray eyes and shoulder length black hair, although she can change her appearance at will. On one of Percy's quest, she even turned herself into an average looking park ranger.
Personality:: Athena is a gentle, evenly tempered woman. She believes in peace on Olympus, and is often the voice of reason (Can't imagine why..) She tends to be solitary, and, weather to Zeus' liking or not, she keeps tabs on all of her children, as well as keeping pictures of them in her possession and on her person. She is often found among stacks of books, as she finds the humans interesting creatures.She loves humans, and, very wisely, fears them. She has the utmost respect for their culture but fears them because they act without thought and wisdom.. She is kind, loving, empathetic and accepting. Although, her prejudice about members of the house of Poseidon can sometime shine through. Athena is also not one for the company of immortals, as she believes gods can be full of themselves, and she prefers more modest company. She has a pet, Otus, a Red owl, that keeps her company on Olympus. She is often found sitting on a bench in Central park, reading, and surreptitiously watching humans go about their daily business.
While she enjoys her humans, and arguing with her Uncle, she is not, by any sense, a brash person. She thinks through every decision from all angles before making a decision. She does not approve of Annabeth's decision to date Percy, but she would never stop them. She doesn't agree all the time with Zeus, but she would never over step her bounds.
In all, Athena is brave, wise, elegant, smart and strong. She loves humanity, and her children, and she would never act without thinking and begs her friends do the same.

History::Athena was born of only one parents, Zeus. Shortly before her birth, Zeus began to experience extremely painful headaches. He soon began to to suffer so terribly, that feeling he had no other choice, he approached Hephaestus, and had him split his head open. Upon the action, out popped a fully formed Athena. Having been formed of all the wisdom of Zeus, she became accepted as the goddess of wisdom, craft and battle strategy. Athena's reign on Olympus was rarely challenged, and she cherishes the place as anyone would a home.
Athena's issues with Her Uncle Poseidon began when she was only a few milenia years old. They both wanted to be the patron saint of a then unnamed city. When the people rejected Poseidon for Athena, and named the city after her, he became angry and searched for a way to get her back. One night, he raped a priestess of Athena on the floor of the Parthenon, and because Athena could not punish Poseidon, she punished the young woman and her sisters, turning them into beasts with snakes for hair and eyes that would turn men to stone. She gave them one gift. They could never hurt a woman.
Another event where Athena was forced to show her powers was with Arachne. She challenged Athena to a contest, to weave a more beautiful tapestry than Arachne could. When Arachne lost, she again tempted Athena. And again she lost. So, to ensure that she could never tempt the goddess again, Athena turned her and all of her children into what are today known as spiders. To this hour, Athena fears these beasts.
Athena does her best to avoid the children of gods, save her own. However, when she is forced to intervene, she will. She has helped Percy Jackson on a few occasions, however only for her own benefit. Later, she voted to have him killed for being too dangerous. She lost the vote. Afterward, she begged him not to judge her to harshly and informed him (with a little gloat) of how his loyalty could harm him and his friends and even warns him not to destroy the world.
When Kronos sends Typhon, it is only Athena that knows he is only a distraction. Through Hermes, she informs Annabeth that it is a trap, and tells her to remember the plans they had laid out together. She also tells Percy to "Remember the River" and she implores him to leave Annabeth out of his problems. Later, Athena hires Annabeth to rebuild Olympus, and even puts aside her differences to vote for Percy's immortality. She later tells him that while she may have been wrong about him, she still doesn't like him. When Percy denies his immortality, Athena begs him to not be so sappy about his feelings, rolls her eyes, and vanishes in fire, burning Percy's shirt.
Athena takes sabbatical from Olympus every few years, and whenever she returns, it is just after the birth of a child. So far, she has five living children, Annabeth, Issac, Xavier, and Gail. She keeps their pictures close to her, and on her person at all time. She may not be able to see them all the time, but she loves them. She is, however, proud to be spending more time on earth, and sneaking more visits to her children.
Name/Nickname::Zach
Roleplaying Experience::Two years!
Sample RP:: Athena stuffed her hair into a tight ponytail, and stepped into the elevator, lowering herself onto the streets of New York, before evaporating into thin air, and landing at camp Half-Blood. The children were fast asleep as she pushed the door open, smiling as she investigated the faces of children. Issac, a copy of the father he hated, and the man she cursed. Gail, her shoulder length hair the same as the hair that hung about Athena's face, minus a change in color. And Xavier, whom she had regrettably abandoned as a child, and now loved as much as a mother could. She caressed his face with a gentle hand, then placed the gifts about her children. For Gail, a locket laid in cold, that would, at any time, send a direct link to Olympus. For Xavier, a button that read "Rockefeller Center" that would at any moment, transport him safely to camp Half Blood and into safety. And for Issac, a wrist watch, inscribed with the words, "Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you'd rather have spoken up." It also allowed him to summon her whenever he needed.
She hated how she was forced to visit her children, alone in their minds or at night and while they slept. But her father had willed her to tend her duties on Olympus first, and she would be unwise to not listen to him. If she were not needed on the Mount, you can be sure she would take up a counselor position, and live with her children. But, her mind was required, and she was needed up above.
Athena knew the lives she had cursed them to. Labeled freaks, abandoned by those fathers who loved them, or cursed and not able to seem them. And, of course, a mother who remained abstent. She knew what it was like to live motherless, and prayed only that she could one day enjoy her time with them.
She made rounds, and kissed each one, before she made her way to the door, evaporated from the camp and lay herself down on her bed in Olympus, drifting to sleep to the projected image of her snoozing children. She whispered "Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall goodnight, till it be 'morrow."
