Yes, it's about effin' time, but I decided while doing my Photography poster for 4-H, that I should upload some of my pictures from my Out West trip earlier this summer for you guys to see where I went. ^^ I took pictures of the highlights so here we go!
This is a mountain, from the Rocky Mountains! Didn't get much pictures of these, 'cause we drove through most of them and you can't get very good pictures from a car.
Then, of course, the Grand Canyon. None of the pictures I took on the first day are really worth much because it was getting dark and it wasn't very pretty. And I'm just going to say, there aren't many fences at the Grand Canyon so one false step too close to the edge and you can kiss your demi-god butt goodbye... unless you're a kid of Zeus and you can fly, in which case go for it.
Another image of the Grand Canyon.
You guys probably don't want to hear the story about this one, but here we go anyway. So, while we were at the Grand Canyon, we went to a ranger talk, and it was about the California Condor. Turns out, the Condors are one of the rarest birds in the world, because they're only seen at the Grand Canyon and three other places in California, Nevada, and Utah I think. There's only 300 of them in the wild, and thirty years ago there were only 20 alive. Our ranger told us that after ten years in captivity there were enough to release them into the wild. And this picture is of the Vermillion cliffs, where they were released.
This is another condor spot, the Navajo bridge. And, you guess it, it's on a Navajo Indian reservation where I bought my now favorite necklace - it's an onyx turtle with a jade stone as its shell - and this is the Colorado river from the bridge. ^^ Didn't see any condors here either.
OKAY. This is the Grand Canyon, again, only from a totally different place. That picture of the Vermillion cliffs? That was a picture taken on the way of a five hour drive AROUND the Grand Canyon to get to the other side. We stayed on the North Rim, and this was taken on the South Rim during a Sunset Tour we took around the south rim of the Canyon.
Another Grand Canyon. It's so purtiful. ^^
Sunset at the Grand Canyon! Add that to your bucket list 'cause it was so gorgeous and peaceful and you will not believe how many young couples were there. o.o
Something I think AB would appreciate - Montezuma's Castle. This was our lunch stop and we ate at the picnic area. Built by Native Americans a couple thousand years ago. There's three floors and twenty-seven rooms. Talk about some awesome architecture.
And my trip out west ends with the Pacific Ocean. SAY HI TO POSEIDON EVERYONE.
One of our days in L.A, we went to the Getty Museum, which is like this huge art museum with lots of pretty stuff in it. You could take pictures in some rooms, and other rooms you weren't allowed. I took this picture mainly for the benefit of my Latin teacher, who I love 'cause she's the best teacher ever. It's an illuminated script in Latin. Couldn't translate a word of it - that's what three years of Latin does for ya.
I darn near squeed in that museum when I saw they had GREEK SCULPTURES. Say hi to Athena. ^^
And Aphrodite.
And Hera. (There were Hermes and Apollo there too, but I didn't upload those 'cause they were kind of inappropriate, and Harper about had a heart attack when she saw the sculpture of her father. She's scarred for life.)
Totally random, but one of the cutest doggies in the world. His name's Whiskey, and he's 14 years old. =3
Ocean again. ^^
Hells to the yes. I went to Hollywood. And I saw their footprints and handprints. <3 Forgive my sister's stupid feet in the picture.
Me in front of the Hollywood sign! I don't take good pictures though so forgive the horribleness of it.
And our last stop on the way home, Chinatown. I didn't take any pictures of my grandpa's house 'cause I can't stand him and his house is a mess and yeah.
But yeah, that was my trip out west. ^^
