Resting her chin on her right hand Sami began to use her fork to push her vegetables around on her plate. She sat at the end of the Hermes table away from the rest of her siblings. Sami had’t sat with them since the beginning of the summer. After the death of her brother Sami detached herself from the rest of camp. She didn’t really count the Hermes kids as her family. They may have been blood but it didn’t make them family. Family involved people you trusted and cared for and they cared for you in return. She honesty didn’t care about anyone here. Coming to Camp Half-Blood was a mistake from the start.
She glanced down the table toward her siblings. They laughed and joked as they shoveled their dinner into their mouths. If they were really family they would have cared about Riley just as much as Sami did even if they didn’t know him. Bitterly, Sami rolled her eyes back to her plate and stabbed the steamed carrots. She hated them in that moment. There wasn’t a person at this camp who gave a damn about her or her brother. Sami blinked and a tear rolled down her cheek but she didn’t bother to wipe it away. She drew in a breath and sighed. Being angry wouldn’t bring him back. Sulking day in and out wasn’t going to do anything either. She’d be lying if she said it made her feel better.
Sami stared at the uneaten food on her plate. It was a disaster zone. Everything was mixed together and the carrots had puncture marks from being speared relentlessly by Sami’s fork. She pretended that the carrots were Phobos and the fork was her celestial bronze sword. One day she would drive her blade right into the God’s chest. She would have liked to have driven it into his heart but Sami was 100% sure he didn’t have one. She looked up and her eyes wandered around to the other tables.
Everyone was trapped in their own private worlds. That was the problem with this camp. Everyone else was so wrapped up in their own problems that they didn’t care to see or acknowledge that there were people with their own issues. She went back to her food and continued to push it around on her plate as she thought again about her twin who should have been sitting across from her filling that empty seat with his smile.

Luke shook his head as he walked down to the dining pavilion with his sister Avery, his sister. That was definitely a new one. Not that he could complain, he had always loved her like a sister but the fact she was actually his sister put him in a better mood then he had been since he got back from the quest. which admittedly wasn't saying much, but it was a start as far as he was concerned." I really don't think this is a good idea.." He commented as he reached the pavilion. He didn't really think that anyone, let alone the Hermes table would be happy to see him. Not that he could blame them, he had betrayed them all and was probably responsible for them losing their friends and even family.
Once they where in sight of the rest of the camp, there was a noticeable decrease in volume of all the chatter until the whole pavilion was silent, and staring at him. A dead traitor showing up for dinner? yeah that would tend to cause a stir. As he walked down to get some food the chatter started up again, he picked up a older camper telling another Yes that's him, I'm sure of it! He shook his head, letting his eyes go from the Athena table to the Poseidon. Neither Percy or Annabeth where there. Percy? He was being a jerk so let him go deal with his hissy fit somewhere else, as long as he wasn't taking it out on her again. Just Annabeth, after finding those letters...and what happened after wards. They had allot that they needed to talk about, or at least try to get past.
The last thing he wanted was to lose her because of how they felt, or what happened...
After he got some food, he walked over to the fire and tossed a bit in." Dad, I'm sorry..." He said in an undertone before walking over to the Hermes table and sitting down, leaving Avery some space to sit beside him if she wanted. You would think, that after two years of not eating he would be starving. But all he did was stare down at his plate, moving his peas around with his fork. Trying to get the fact that the only reason he was sitting there, was that one of his brothers had lost his life. Out of his head. He looked down the table and spotted a familiar face, the same girl he had helped save from a hell hound before he had been brought back. Sami, Reilys sister.
This was not going to end well....

------------------------------------------------------------------ "Oh, stop being an idiot. Of course this is a good idea. It's not like you can stay holed up somewhere anyway. Not that I wouldn't be glad to snatch some food for you or anything, but I've got a quest coming up." Avery was absolutely laidback and carefree, her chocolate brown eyes bright and cheerful as she walked with her brother down to dinner. The fact that Luke Castellan was back in camp was probably causing a lot of unease and unrest, but Avery was just glad to have him back. She was probably one of the few kids who were actually happy that he was back.
The only memories she had of Luke were good ones. She remembered getting to camp, some awkward little nine-year old, and Luke was always the camper who was nicest to her. When he'd left to serve Kronos, Avery had known he had seeds of goodness in him. She knew he thought he was doing what was right, and while she may not have agreed with him, she understood. She had always understood - she'd never felt betrayed by him. So here she was, completely blissful and happy that her brother was back amongst the living and that she had the chance to tell him that yes indeed, they were really related. Brother and sister.
Unlike her brother, Avery didn't have much on her mind. The only thing that was causing any sort of stress was the quest she was supposed to go on with Ryan and the little Apollo girl soon. And even then, it wasn't as much stress as it was excitement. That was probably why there was a little bit more of a bounce in her step, a skip to her walk. On top of that, her brother was alive. Life was pretty good, as far as her standards went. Then again, her standards were probably pretty screwed up, even for a demi-god.
When they reached the dining pavilion, and someone pointed out Luke, Avery sent a murderous glare their way. She wouldn't tolerate her brother being talked about, no matter what he did in the past. The kid saw her look and instantly shut up and turned back to his siblings. Avery huffed like some kind of triumphant dog and headed to the Hermes table with Luke. It was hard to think she'd been here for almost nine years. Some of the other Hermes kids warmly greeted her when she arrived, and she returned every greeting with a wink or a wave or a brief hello. Luke had already gone to get food, so Avery followed and put her own share into the fire for her dad. She didn't say anything, because she didn't feel the head to, and went back to the table.
She proudly took the seat next to Luke and immediately began eating. Though she avoided the vegetables. Nobody wanted to eat that stuff. Avery glanced up from her food though, to see one of her sisters with tears on her face a little ways down the table. Concern flickered through her, but concern and worry were two emotions that Avery rarely experienced. "Hey, Sami... you okay, down there?" she questioned.

Delia hadn't been back long at all, a week perhaps which to her felt like a century. The problem was, the more you wanted to avoid something in life the worse it seemed when you were forced to endure it. It wasn't that she hated camp or even her siblings, she just hated what it all represented, what it all meant. After the war the camp needed some revamping, things were changing the world continued to go on. But Delia felt stuck, like everything around her was changing but her and there was nothing she could do about it. That was life though and eventually she would have to get over it, but now was not the time.
Lines were not Delia's forte, she was one of the worlds most impatient people. Which was why instead of waiting, she flirted her way through the line and skipped past people who weren't looking. The dinner selection that night was not all that fantastic. Then again, it hadn't been that great in a while. She supposed that that was what happened after traveling through Italy and trying every kind pasta should could in the process. Fortunately it was hard to tell she had, unfortunately she now had to settle for carrots. Thoughtlessly Delia sat down at the Hermes table near Sami. Delia wasn't feeling the slightest bit social and her and Sami had a mutual understanding.
Of all the people at camp no one understood Delia's pain as well as Sami. Just like Delia she had lost someone important to her in Luke's war. As wrong as it was to name it that, Delia knew that was the truth. Perhaps Sami didn't look at it that way, but one thing was sure and that was Luke was to blame. Now that he was gone and the dust had settled everyone saw Luke as some kind of hero. Delia wouldn't deny that he had saved them all in killing himself but he had also been the one to doom them all in the first place. Everyone tried to make Luke look like this epic hero when in fact all he had really done was right his wrongs. Not that Delia didn't applaud him for making it right but she surely wasn't about to go around bragging about her heroic brother. In fact as far as she was concerned he wasn't even her brother. He was just Luke Castellan, ex-Hermes cabin counselor.
As possibly the only camper outside of Demeter's cabin to eat the carrots Delia instantly regretted it. A rather tall and all to familiar figure made their way through the line causing her to choke on her food. She had to be hallucinating because she could have sworn she was looking at Luke. That was impossible though because he was dead. Avery speaking to this figment of Delia's imagination was not helping her cause either. But soon the undeniable murmur over the crowd made Delia undeniably aware he was actually back. "Could this get any worse?" she questioned to no one in general.
Delia had spoke to soon because moments later - as if someone was trying to make her miserable - Avery and Luke sat down at the table across from her. "Thanks a lot dad," she mumbled bitterly. Delia stubbornly decided that the best way to get through this was silently. If it was quiet and awkward then she wouldn't have to deal with the apparent revival of her dead ex-brother. The plan seemed easy enough, Avery was the one who worried. Ave hadn't found out who she was until after Luke left which means they would still be all buddy. Which really meant that Delia was screwed. "You know what, I am not all that hungry," said Delia cleaning up her mess and preparing to leave.

..screaming inside..won’t someone save me..? Sami pushed her carrots around on her plate some more. She glanced down the table and saw Avery sit down with no one other than Luke. At least, it must have been Luke Castellan. Sami had come to know every face in the Hermes cabin, but she didn’t know this one. Her heart skipped a beat and she felt like crying right there. She shifted uncomfortably and looked back to her plate concentrating on the food that remained.
Why did they have to sit down near her? They could have sat on the other end of the table, there was still room at the other end but they chose to sit closer to her. It must have been a joke to the both of them. She stabbed her carrots with such force that one was nearly sent flying across the Hermes table. She took in a deep breath hoping to calm down. Maybe they would ignore her or if she didn’t move maybe they wouldn’t see her.
Shoot. Sami flinched a little when Avery addressed her. Ignoring her sister at first Sami took a stab at another carrot. What? Was this some kind of family intervention? She saw Delia who looked as equally unsettled by Luke’s presence as she was. She felt for Delia and when Delia went to leave Sami was ready to follow suit. Her body wouldn’t allow her to move though. She was gripping her fork so tight that her knuckles were practically white. Quickly Sami dried her eyes with the back of her hand. Sami shifted a little in her seat and looked to Avery refusing to make eye contact with Luke.
“Just peachy, and you?” She replied with a grim smile, it was only courteous to inquire how her sister was in return. Though in truth Sami didn’t quite care at the moment. Her eyes went to Delia and she gave her sister a pleading look that begged her not to leave her alone with the two of them. Sami didn’t want to be here with Avery and Luke but she didn’t want to leave either. It was weird. Sami knew that Avery had obviously been all sunshine and giggles about Luke being back but Sami felt the exact opposite. He was a painful reminder of why her brother was not occupying the seat across from her. She stabbed at another carrot but missed and the vegetable went flying like a bullet across the table. Sami glared after the food missile. Sami dropped her fork and looked over to Delia again.
“Delia, would you like to sit by me?” She asked this time her eyes met Luke for a moment. She assumed that Delia didn’t want to sit by Luke and again, Sami did not want to be alone with him and her sister. She refused to refer to Luke as her brother. They may have been blood but it did not make him family. “It’s less crowded down here.” Her tone was polite and friendly but the meaning behind her words were harsh and cold. Sami was at the point where she hardly cared what her other siblings thought of her. The only person she really cared about in the world was dead and in his place was this traitor. It wasn’t fair.
