Aileen Everric Desmond
Name::Aileen Everric Desmond
Nickname:: Ali (or any bestowed nicknames)
Age:: 14
Gender:: Female
Species:: Demi-God
Olympian Parent:: Aristaeus
Years at Camp:: 1 (not counting this current year)
Claimed:: yes claimed, but has not met parent
Celebrity Claim: Jennette McCurdy
Looks:: Aileen has a very homey look, with soft features and wavy blonde hair that desperatley wants to be curly. She is tan with a slightly olive complexion, and has warm, brown, watchful eyes. Some might peg her look as a day-dreamer, as she often stares off into the distance, but she rarely spends time thinking aimlessly. She has long and slender fingers, strong hands, and a firm grip.
She can usually be found in boots, jeans cut off at the knee, and striped or graphic tees. In the winter she wears a fuzzy wool-lined leather jacket and a woolen scarf, hat, and gloves. She has so many woolen hats, in fact, that she could wear a different one every day of the month. She doesn't wear much make-up ever, and jewelery is limited to a few necklaces.
Aileen doesn't look intimidating, and some would say she looks like a country girl which would be completely true. Style was never something that interested her, but she doesn't mind taking advice from those who do love fashion.
Personality:: Aileen is not reserved, but she does not actively seek out new friends. She isn't opposed to making new friends, but socializing is a drain on her rather than energizing. She enjoys spending hours alone, thinking or working by herself. The way Aileen figures it she probably thinks as much as anyone in the Athena cabin, even if she doesn't have as vast a resivoir of knowledge. Aileen enjoys planning ahead more than thinking on her feet. As a friend she is loyal until the end, and she protects her friends rather selflessly. In fact, tending to her friend's and cabinmates' well being is quite important to her.

History::[/b] Aileen's parentage was unknown, she showed up one night outside Volunteer Fire Station 79. There she was discovered by Henry Desmond. She was swaddled in a pink blanket, with a note pinned to her that said, "Love her like your own. -A" She was an answer to Henry and Rachel's prayers, and when the nessecary legal work was completed Aileen went home with the Desmonds. Henry, when he wasn't volunteering, drilled for oil in and around their town in Texas. The Desmonds owned a sizeable ranch in Southern Texas, raising sheep, chickens, and longhorn cattle. When Aileen was three, her parents had their first child, but their love for Aileen didn't waiver. As Aileen grew up, Rachel homeschooled her, teaching her morals along with her algebra.
Time went on, and sure, there were oddities. "Mom, no really. That hobo guy only has one eye! Like a cyclops!" "Mom, That girl just turned into a tree!" "Dad, I think I was riding horses with a centaur!" During what would have been her sixth grade year, she did an extensive unit on Roman and Greek mythology. It was that summer that one of the ranch hands, a short guy with a limp, curly hair, and a scraggly goatee, told Aileen's parents that his brother owned a summer camp up in the New York area. Aileen could go for free if her parents gave her permission. After much pleading permission was granted, and Aileen was given a satyr escort to Camp Half-Blood. The first year was tough for her. It was believable enough, but she was overwhelmed. She might have been overwhelmed if the summer camp was just a normal summer camp, she just thought all of the magic was cool.

Aileen sat at the campfire, twisting a strand of hair around her finger. The rest of the camp was participating in campfire songs, some of the tunes she recognized but the lyrics were different, others were completely new to her. It didn't really matter, because she was still thinking about everything that had been loaded on her today. She never knew who her birth parents were... but still... A god? The introductory video had stunned her. As she toured the camp she had been in a daze, and she hadn't paid much attention. The guide's words rang in her ears,"You're what, thirteen right? Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if you were claimed tonight at the campfire."
The fire flickered a vibrant yellow, and seemed to grow and ebb with the mood of the campers. Was it magical? At this point she supposed that anything could be possible. The centaur, now that was pretty cool, a real live centaur! The centaur was adressing the crowd, something about capture the flag. Cheers erupted from all around, but one section was so raucous that she jumped involuntarily. Just when she most wanted to disappear, Chiron announced, "And give a welcome to our newest camper, Aileen!" She was nudged to her feet by some smiling campers. Suddenly bees began swarming around her head. What in the world? As if her day wasn't crazy enough, now she was getting attacked by a random pack of man-eating bees.
A flash of light erupted above her head. When she opened her eyes she was wearing a sheepskin robe, holding a shepherd's crook. She felt her head, and removed a circlet made out of solid gold honeybees. Confusion was plainly plastered across her face, and when Chiron pronounced, "Hail Aileen, Daughter of Aristaeus, god of Beekeeping, and Shepherding!" she wished nothing more than being the daughter of the god of invisibility.
