As intimidating as Eris had been, so was Apate. Eris had been creepy in the traditional sense, just stalking around and then attacking out of nowhere; but Apate’s sickly sweet demeanor was scary in itself. Julia got the feeling that the goddess was one of those who thought that mortals and demi-gods were just around to be played with, just pawns in a game. And that bothered her. Wouldn’t it bother everyone? Sure, it wasn’t exactly taking away their free will, but being manipulated wasn’t very high on Julia’s list of things she wanted to do.
”More than a little unusual.” Julia pointed out. ”But then again what family of gods and goddesses isn’t?” She raised an eyebrow. Every single interconnected family in the so-called mythological family tree was messed up. Unusual, as Apate had called them. Julia caught Apate’s smile, which only added to the feeling of unease that was creeping over her. There was just something behind that smile that made her want to sprint back to camp as fast as she could. Following the immortal’s gaze to Alex, Julia nearly rolled her eyes. Really, what was wrong with the boy? He was blinking like crazy, and had asked if Apate had changed. Of course she hadn’t changed, that was plain to see. But then it registered with her, she couldn’t believe she had forgotten really, Alex could see through the Mist; or at least he could see through the Mist slightly, which would account for his thinking that Apate’s form was shifting.
The smile was still fixed on the goddess’ face when she turned her attention back to Julia. Gods that was eerie. She just smirked when Apate agreed about sibling rivalry, giving a slight roll of her eyes. ”Yeah, the drivers are crazy. I nearly died when I was getting my license. Not that I drive too much anymore.” She still had a car parked in the garage of her father’s townhouse, but she was never in the city long enough to drive it anywhere and since her dad lived in California the car didn’t get much use. Which was a pity since the car was rather nice.
Julia knew they had been setting themselves up for an obvious answer to their question but still rolled her eyes when Apate answered with a question of her own. She certainly hadn’t tried to convince Eris to leave, at least not with anything that actually would have gotten the goddess to go. Julia had never tried to Charmspeak a god or goddess before, and she hadn’t tried with Eris. So either she had left on her own or, more probable, Apate had convinced her to leave. ”Right… But she’s gone now. So what could we possibly still need your help with?” Apate had said she didn’t recommend hanging around with Eris, but Julia wasn’t too convinced that hanging around with the goddess of deceit was a much better plan. There was something keeping her here though, against better judgment, and she wasn’t sure what that was. Curiosity? That was the best guess. She hadn’t interacted with too many immortals, and learning more about them was always interesting.

At first, Alex had thought being in a room with Hecate, Erebus and Eris had been unsettling. Those were three crazy immortals interested in the evil side. Now, being around with just one of them was unsettling, sheesh. They were all crazy Olympians and immortals for gods sakes. The way Apate was acting was sort of scary in its own way. Sure, Eris was downright creepy, but Apate was... smiling and sweet talking and... ugh! If the personality didn't match the person and their information, it was much more creepier than it had to be. Goddess of Deceit did have a point though; she did what she could to fool them. Great, even more manipulation; just what his head needed. First Kath, then Hecate, before Julia and now Apate. These were the times he really wished he had kept his mouth shut and ever learned about the greek world. But he had to have gone blabbing. He was half blaming it on the Battle of Manhattan. Half blaming it on the people or whoevers who started it in the first place.
He kept his mouth shut as they started talking about the abnormalities of families; resorting to the 'don't speak unless you're spoken to' rule from way back when, he just listened to Julia and Apate talk to eachother. Alex had half learned how to not talk a few months ago, whether he could still do it was the question. His arm gave a random sting, but he half ignored it. The mortal had to agree with Julia on this one though. Immortals were irregular in themselves, never mind their families and relationships. In all technicality, weren't they all related in some way or another? Demigods as well since their parents were gods and related to eachother? That was what he had read about the gods, anyway. He just pieced the demigod part up by common sense. Some people may have doubted he had any, but he did. It was just the times he chose to show it were sometimes irregular. Over the next few seconds, Alex saw them both staring at him as if annoyed or as if he was crazy. Then he remembered the Mist act up. "Sorry," he grumbled out of habit. Of all the times the Mist had to go crazy on him.
Alex half bit his tongue, making no comment to the siblings question. No one knew about his mortal sibling except him, his mother and possibly his father. He couldn't help interjecting something though when it came to driving. "It would make sense, with the increased number of car crashes," he snorted sarcastically. Alex had been doing drivers education at the time of his... expelling so he had never gotten a license. At any rate, he didn't know how his mom had gotten one. She really looked like Eris had indeed taught her. So, Julia could drive, but she just hadn't in a while. Alex knew that he wouldn't get his own car until he was eighteen or older. If that day ever came.
The mortal just eyed the goddess as she answered her own question. No, Alex was not really interested in knowing; and yes, he really should just back out of this, but for some reason he wasn't. Stubbornness? Slight Curiosity? Probably a combination of both. Alex made no comment, not interested in just goading the goddess on. The longer she stayed, the worse for both him and Julia. He hadn't planned on spending quality time with a goddess and a demigod down some dark alleyway. Then again, he didn't plan on being dumped back in Manhattan on his own either.OOC: Sorry for not being on last night or this would of gotten done sooner! For a moment, Apate’s happy, if demonic, little smile vanished as she looked at Julia. Her expression read more along the lines of ‘watch your tongue or I’ll cut it out very painfully.’ Sure, she didn’t much like her family. She’d been bottled up with them far too long - for part of that time, literally bottled up. And being related to people like Geras and Oizys sort of bit in a major way. But they were still family. And all that crap about ‘they’re your family and you have to love them’… well, she didn’t love them. But they were entertaining to be around sometimes. And at least they weren’t like something really bad like the Olympian family. That would be a nightmare. Bunch of stuck-up good-for-nothings. At least her family was mostly just stuck-up good-for-somethings. If she was related to, say, Aphrodite, she might have to kill herself. She clocked that up as strike one and her expression changed back to how it had been before. Turning to Alex for a moment, she looked somewhere between smiling pleasantly and smirking cruelly. “Now, now, see if I really wanted to confuse you, I could just do this.” That said, she purposefully shifted the Mist around her so that not even Julia would be able to see through it. She took on the form of a woman in her early thirties with a suit on and her brown hair pulled back in a tight bun. Where her boots had been, she lightly clicked the a pair of tall elegant heals against the side of the dumpster. ( here) She looked more ready for a business proposal meeting than sitting in a back alley talking to a demigod who’d snuck out of Camp and a mortal who’d been dumped unceremoniously on the streets. “Oh, or maybe this.” Her image shifted again, this time to a tween in loose brown curly hair pulled back on one side with a flower and a blue skirt and tank top and matching necklace. She was barefoot this time, as though she’d just gotten back from wading at the beach and had somehow ended up here in the middle of Manhattan. ( here) She laughed, and it sounded light and happy, with no trace of the cold undertone from before. The young girl winked at the two, obviously enjoying what she was up to, and her form shifted again, back into the young woman in the leather jacket, jeans, and boots. “All that aside.” She looked at Julia, almost laughing. “Well, kudos to you for the license, kid. Glad you got to experience the horribly degrading license photo experience that you can now carry around with you everywhere. Probably the only picture any Aphrodite kid wouldn’t want to show off. Or did you manage to talk them into using a studio?” She smirked and almost rolled her eyes. Those foo-foo demigods were so annoying, but at least they did serve as some measure of entertainment sometimes. Apate’s smile dropped again at Julia’s question regarding Eris. She sat up straight, her expression deadly and cold, more like what one would expect from a goddess of her type. “I’m keeping her away, Julia. I tricked her into leaving, I’m making sure she doesn’t return. I’m making sure she doesn’t come back, realizing her error, and resume her little conversation with the both of you. She will, you know. My sister is nothing if not persistent. So it’s one or the other. Take your pick.” She looked to Alex. “At least I’m not throwing bricks or drawing weapons. I, unlike her, have nothing against the two of you. But if you so desire, I will leave. Then it’s a matter of time before she finds you again. And gods help you. Well, other gods, because I certainly won’t.” She didn’t feel much up to leaving, but then again, it would be amusing to see what Eris would do to them both. If it came down to it, she would take Eris’ side this time because that’s what she was: a back-stabbing turncoat. It was written into her contract practically. She would just make Eris believe her to be innocent. Or, if they refused to listen to her, she had other means. The mirror she’d gotten from Eris a while back had gone far too long without use… Word Count: 726 Note: * I am SO SO SO SORRY for the delay!!!!! You two seriously stumped me on what to do. Thanks a lot! >.< lol, jk * Geras is the god of old age and Oizys is the goddess of distress, worry, and anxiety. Both of which are siblings of Apate and were trapped in the pithos with her.

It looked like Alex was just as unsettled by Apate’s all-too-cheery disposition as she was, and at least that was slightly comforting to Julia. But then again Alex had apparently dealt with Hecate and Eris before, so if Apate was bothering him then she must have been quite the creepy force. Julia’s smile faltered for a moment as Apate’s vanished, a quick look of fear flashing across the blonde’s face. She wasn’t looking to get on the goddess’ bad side, not by any means. But honestly, every family of immortals was screwed up in some way; heck even most mortal families had huge issues and they didn’t get eternity to figure everything out like the immortals did. She relaxed when Apate went back to the sickly sweet side of things; rather she relaxed as much as she could. The goddess was still giving her the creeps.
Apate’s next actions didn’t help too much. She could do what? Julia didn’t see anything different about the goddess after she focused her attention on Alex. Then Julia realized that she was probably manipulating the mist to block Julia from being able to see her. That was very unsettling. ”I don’t need a studio photoshoot to look good.” She said, smirking at them. Sure, it sounded stuck up; but she was a daughter of Aphrodite. Even a driver’s license photo wasn’t going to look bad if you compared it to those of the rest of the world.
The goddess’ smile disappeared again, her whole demeanor change causing Julia to take half a step backwards. What Apate was saying made sense and she hadn’t attacked them yet; so that made her about a thousand times better than Eris in Julia’s eyes. ”Well I have to admit that you’re a much better person to talk to than she was.” She said, smirking once more. ”I don’t really see what you’re interested in here though… I mean, you’re a goddess. Normally gods and goddesses only pop down to mortals if they want to use them for some sort of plan… Or if they’re planning on sleeping with them and you just don’t strike me as the type to do that.” Using the two of them for a plan, maybe; but Julia doubted the goddess felt like sleeping around with a mortal guy. ”So what brings you down here? Plotting some sort of revenge against a family member? You already said you didn’t have anything against us, so I’d have to assume that.” That honestly seemed like the only things immortals did sometimes. Punish mortals for doing something or use mortals to punish family members for doing something.

(( WARNING: A SPOILER OF HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS IS CONTAINED IN THIS POST)) Alex looked at Apate and didn't fail to notice that her composure change. He was a type of boy that was rather into tune with other people's emotions. She went from looking happy-to-the-point-of-creepy, to looking like she wanted to kill the daughter of Aphrodite. A smirk flickered across Alex's face momentarily. That could be fun to watch. All powerful scary goddess versus a (more than likely) egocentric, can't-fight-for-her-life girl. He knew he'd have no chance against Apate if it came down to it, but at least knew how to use a decent weapon. He was guessing that Apate had gotten offended by Julia's comment about the family. Hard to imagine that this goddess had an almost caring side, but then again, even monsters could feel. Alex wouldn't really care about people using his family against him since he really didn't feel a connection to any of them anymore. His immediate family, anyway. He couldn't deny that Julia had truth though. Almost every Greek linage was messed up in one way or another. Both in the immortal and mortal world.
Great. Alexander glared at the goddess. Just what his head needed, more confusion. After a moment, the Mist started to act up on him. It was infuriating that she was doing this on purpose now. It had been one act up, sheesh! It settled and she was a business looking sort of lady. He snorted. "Why not just curl and mess up your hair a lot and put on some make up? You could easily stand in for Bellatrix's death." She was surely crazy enough to pull off the Death Eater. Of course, her being a goddess and all, she couldn't die. But Alex could always hope that this goddess would be tumbling into Tartars soon. That, or she could of stood in for a grown up Hermione. Then again, Hermione didn't have as a crazy of a mind. He eyed her as she changed into a small girl and rolled his eyes. Alex had to admit though, hearing a purely innocent laugh was rather creepy. Especially when he knew whose mouth it was actually coming from. "Sheesh," he grumbled, giving a mild, sarcastic clap. "Great fashion show, I'm sure they'll be looking for you around Fashion Week," he scoffed. It then settled to her normal state, hopefully: leather and jeans.
He eyed Apate as she asked Julia if she had convinced the people to do it in a studio. That girl did seem rather persuasive at times. He wondered if it was a demigod thing or if it was just a Aphrodite thing. If it was just demigods in general, then his brother hadn't been given the power properly. When Alex thought persuasion, he usually thought about logical arguments, not being threatened with a staff and various other medieval weapons. Cue an arrogant remark from Julia; Alex half rolled his eyes. Of course, typical children of the Love Goddess alright. They really couldn't go without an hour of thinking that they were the best looking? Looking perfect and flawless was downright boring to him. The mortal didn't even want to think about what their Cabin looked like. Probably lots and lots and lots of mirrors so they could see themselves from every angle before coming outside.
Apate wasn't really assuring Alex of anything. Even with her whole 'I made Eris go away' thing. He eyed Julia, sure, she wasn't attacking them, but that was the almost scary part. He wasn't sure who was the less fortunate to have around. Both of them were stuck in the same category in his book. His brown gaze turned to the immortal. "Sure you don't," he said simply. He wouldn't believe for a moment that she'd stay the way she was: having nothing against them. Alex started out with nothing against demigods. If he was right about the majority of the gods, any small thing would tick them off. Those who hurt them were bound to torture for the rest of eternity; pleasant life in the Greek Mythology world. He rolled his eyes; good for the high and mighty immortals, keep on living forever. Hopefully they'd learn something new every few thousand years. Right now, Alex was thinking that most of the immortals didn't care about history nor knew it. It was just going to keep repeating itself.OOC: Lol, sorry for that thing at the top. Apate watched them both closely after taking particular care in letting Julia know her words were not appreciated. Well, Julia’s reaction was refreshing. A good dose of fear, as she was sure her ‘friend’ Phobos would agree, was a healthy thing. Kept one in check. Speaking of Phobos, she wondered for a moment where he’d gotten off to. He’d probably assumed she was still at Camp, being a good little servant and doing his bidding there. How little he knew her. Then again, he was young and naive; she was older than the Olympians themselves. She had more time than him to hone her abilities, and he was too easy to fool. Then there was Alex. He actually smirked for a second, which made her wonder what was going through that little mind of his. Whatever it was, she was starting to like this boy. He would work for her before the end of the day if she had anything to say in it.
She could tell Julia was lost when it came to the image-shifting, which was a little disappointing, but it happened. Stupid demidorks. She was getting a nice reaction out of Alex though. He wanted to play nonchalant? She could do that too. “Oh, yeah, her. I read the Wikipedia page on those books and a few characters, didn’t bother with books themselves. She seems interesting enough. And don’t let this one,” she nodded her head toward Julia, “Hear that about Fashion Week. She’ll go insane if someone like me got invited and she didn’t.” Which would be amusing to watch, but that aside. She moved on to a new topic, gladly taking up the chance to put a daughter of mush-and-crap goddess at ill ease. But naturally, the girl thought herself flawless even in the ugly light of a driver’s license picture. Apate nearly gagged, but turned it into a snort. “Right, you keep telling yourself that. See, thing is, you can’t look at yourself all the time. Other people can. So maybe you should listen when someone else says you need a little help, sweetie.”
Letting that matter rest, she turned to something a little more serious, and was quite pleased, if merely to herself, when she saw at least Julia take a step back. Good for her, maybe she had some brains after all. “That’s what I thought. And no, I don’t do the sleeping around with mortals thing. I have no children, demigod or immortal. And I plan on keeping it that way. But that said, I also don’t plan on enlightening you as to what I might be up to. That is my business and not your own. Suffice to say I was merely passing by this time around. I did not necessarily target the two of you until I noticed Eris doing just that. Tell me, why was she interested in you,” she paused to look between them, letting her eyes come to rest finally on Alex, cold and penetrating. “And I wouldn’t recommend lying. Twisting and hiding the truth is my specialty, so you can’t fool me.” She looked between them, awaiting a response, her expression remaining cold all the while. Word Count: 531 Note: Wow, I'm sorry that took so long! I need to bookmark this so it tells me when it's my turn to post! lol >.<

Julia couldn’t help but snicker when Alex compared Apate to Bellatrix, though sadly the goddess couldn’t be dispatched as easily. She rolled her eyes as they mentioned fashion week. Naturally, as a child of Aphrodite, she would have killed to go at some point in her life; heck she still planned on making a trip there before she died. ”There is still plenty of time for me to go to Fashion Week.” Modeling wasn’t really her thing, but there were plenty of beautiful people to look at there. Lots of pretty boys.
She bit her tongue at Apate’s next statement, not wanting to say something else to offend the goddess. It just didn’t seem like a good idea. At least she felt like Alex was along with her in not trusting the woman. There had to be some reason for the immortal just dropping in and driving Eris away. Gods and goddesses never just showed up to chat. There was always something deeper about it.
It seemed that Apate didn’t plan on sharing with them, however. Just great. ”Well good for you for being one of the few immortals who hasn’t had a kid.” She said, flashing Apate a smile. There was no malice, no sarcasm behind it. ” Yeah… You’re much cheerier than your sister.” As creepy as it was, Julia was beginning to enjoy talking to the goddess. Other than the remarks about children of Aphrodite, the goddess was much better than most of the other campers at Camp Half Blood. She watched the goddess carefully, looking for any hint that might signal why she was around. ”You would think people would know better than to try and lie to the goddess of deceit…” She shrugged and ran a hand through her hair before continuing. ”Well she was generally just doing the whole ‘creepy goddess of strife’ thing… Passing on advice to a demi-god and a mortal. If you could call it advice. And she seemed pretty vicious about the fact that a daughter of Aphrodite was walking around the city alone at this time of the day. Something about strife-driven intentions, even though those would have been caused by her so I don’t even know…” She was rambling, and took a breath before continuing.
”I mean, I know she and my mom have had their issues in the past… The whole apple thing. But I really don’t think that entitles her to creeping around and targeting children of Aphrodite… And then she said something about teaching both of us a lesson, and then she had her sword… And then she left and here we are.”

The mortal wasn't exactly thrilled to be here. It was late, in an alley way and this could end up badly. Rather badly. The girl probably had some crazy power or whatever from being a demigod, the goddess was... well, a goddess and Alex... had a pocket knife. He could of easily of thought of five other ways that he could spent the night. Okay, maybe not that many, but he was sure any other options that he could come up with were better than having to go through this. Being stuck in the middle of a conversation with an egocentric daughter of Aphrodite and a freak goddess weren't on the top of his "To Do" list. That goal was more on the very bottom-ish. For one, both goddess' that happened to drop in on them were creepy to Hades. Secondly, Alex was the only mortal and even though he could see though the Mist and all, he felt out numbered in more than one sense. Two points for the Greek world, one point for the mortal world. Insert the 'Woo-for-all-the-clueless-mortals-who-were-living-their-life-in-innocence...' here. Alex half rolled his eyes.
Apate wasn't at all fazed, at the sixteen year old's analogy and Alex didn't really care. He just thought it was a valid observation, especially when the Goddess of Deceit entered into that particular body. Yes, he had read the Harry Potter series at least twice and she could of slid into the part with no problem whatsoever. She had the creepiness factor down to a science. Then again, she was one of the negative goddess, being creepy and making people miserable were a given. Just like Death Eaters. "Glad you think so," he said dryly to the goddess. His father had told him that Wikipedia was whacky when it came to information, but Alex had found it helpful on several occasions. Derrick had absolutely forbidden him to use it for school reports though; Alex's father, and his teachers had spoken to them about that too. Anyone could post anything on there, it wasn't accurate, yadda yadda yadda.
Other than being majorly ticked at Kath for just dumping him on a random street, his head giving a random spasm of pain every now and then, and being stuck in this conversation, he was fine. Alex shrugged as Apate asked him not to let Julia hear about the Fashion Week comment. "Too late," he rolled his eyes as the daughter of Aphrodite interjected. He gave a snicker at the goddess comment back to Julia's whole photo shoot come back. He shrugged as Apate asked why Eris was interested in them. "No idea." Alex kept his gaze evenly as Apate's cold eyes rested on him. "Oh, I wouldn't dream of it," he growled back, letting sarcasm edge his voice slightly. "Uh-huh, sure we can't," Alex snorted, waving away her last comment.
Alex just eyed Julia as the demigod took the initiative and brought the goddess up to speed on everything. For the first time, half of him actually wondered what Julia was doing so far away from Camp. "Well, yeah, that's our story, unfortunately."Character Name: Alexander "Alex" Ruckshack Mood: Angry To: Apate-Goddess of Deceit IC Word Count: 546

Apate rolled her eyes as Julia, of course, had a comeback for the Fashion Week comment. Foolish girl was probably daydreaming about the whole ridiculous thing as they spoke. Aphrodite’s kids were so shallow. Alex was another story. He had a tough shell, that one, and wasn’t about to let Apate know anything that was going on underneath it. Thing was, she generally didn’t wait for invitations. And Julia, she was probably a bit more complicated than she first seemed, but she didn’t let on to it at all. She played the role of dumb blonde quite well. But hey, at least the demigod talked. The mortal would be awful company, with all the one- to three-word replies. Gods, he needed socialization skills fast.
Alex seemed reluctant to give her a straight answer, but she was starting to get used to it from the boy. Whatever. Julia, on the other hand, was quite chatty. Twisted, lying little fool, but it was better than Alex’s silent treatment. She silently listened to the drawn-out explanation, smirking at the several bashes on her sister, Eris. It was always good to see the little demigods have a good healthy ability to speak their mind. Usually got them killed, but hey. “Yes, well, creeping around, as you so eloquently put it, is sort of her specialty. And yes, you have a point on the strife-driven intentions. Heck, no one said my sister was intelligent.” She paused to see if Alex might add anything. Of course, he seemed silent. Fine by her.
“As for the apple thing, well, she was pissed off about the party. She can get like that. I wasn’t invited either, but you don’t hear about me throwing a fit. Well, not until it started looking like war, then I helped out, but that’s beside the point. She likes throwing tantrums from time to time. Guess it goes with the chaos thing. But I don’t think it was targeting you in particular. So don’t take it personally. As for the lesson, beats me what that could have been, but probably a good thing she had to skip out before she got around to teaching it, huh?” She gave them both a cruel smile before fixing her eyes on Alex. “But you know more than that, don’t you? No need to be shy. The consequences are much worse if you are. So do tell.” Word Count: 400 Note: Sorry it's short, and sorry it's late!

At least it looked like Apate was amused by the way Julia was describing Eris. It was the truth, though. The goddess had been creepy. Not that Apate wasn’t creepy, but it had been different with the goddess of strife. Maybe the creepy thing just ran in the family. If that was true she definitely didn’t want to meet any other siblings. Julia smirked when Apate said that her sister wasn’t classified as intelligent. You could say that again. The thought made her smirk again, at least until the goddess began talking about the incident with the golden apple.
Yeah, Julia would get upset too if someone didn’t invite her to a party. But would she do what Eris did? No way. That had led to way too much trouble; though trouble was obviously what Eris had wanted in that situation. And when the trouble started more gods and goddesses joined in until there was a full-fledged war that destroyed Troy. Yeah, just the normal way to deal with disagreements if you were immortal. ”Well I guess I have to thank you for cutting that lesson short. I usually don’t do well when a lesson involves swords.” She wasn’t one for combat training at camp, usually preferring to skip out and head to the lake to tan instead. After all, it wasn’t like she would need the training because she never ran into monsters or anything like that. Maybe she would have to check her thinking after all of this. Still, Apate’s smile didn’t make her feel like she would get out of a lesson here.
She raised an eyebrow at Alex as Apate questioned him. Was he holding something back from the goddess? Not really a good idea if you asked Julia. But what would he know? Eris had eluded to the fact that Alex may have known Hecate, but there could have been more. ”You probably don’t want to hold anything back from a goddess, Alex. That usually doesn’t end well for mortals.” Julia was genuinely interested now, though she did worry slightly about Alex’s wellbeing. She might not have liked the guy, but there was no reason for him to lie to the goddess and get himself hurt. Apate had even said that consequences would be worse if he didn’t open up. Plus she had driven Eris away, so maybe they at least owed her the truth about what had happened.

This whole history, Ancient Greek lesson with Julia and Apate about Eris and Aphrodite was... interesting. Then again, Alex's thoughts of 'interesting' could range quite dramatically. Right from "that was spectacular", straight to "that was a waste of my time"; he had been that way ever since he was little. His father had raised him to be polite, after all. Alex just watched the going ons between Apate and Julia; he didn't really see a point in talking. All he was doing was getting information at this point. It seemed as if he was getting a lot of information, a practical story about Eris getting ticked and something about a golden apple. Okay, like he'd ever need all that useless information anytime in his life. Fine, maybe he would if he was sticking around the Greek's world, but in the mortal world it seemed pretty much useless. Pretty much pointless except if Alex ever got pulled onto the game show Jeopardy or some other game show like that.
He merely half rolled his eyes and continued to look between the demigod and the goddess as they exchanged their knowledge of the story. So Eris got ticked because she didn't get invited to some stupid party? The mortal had absolutely no idea what the deal with the apple was though. He didn't know if it was cursed or precious or what. What he did know was that Eris seemed like a brat. Seriously? Throwing a tantrum because she wasn't invited? Throwing tantrums was what the sixteen year old associated three year olds with. What was Eris? A few centuries if not as old as the world? Alex remembered not getting invited to quite a few parties. He never minded, what others though of him was none of his business; to be quite frank, he didn't care. The boy wasn't changing himself to faze people.
Apate looking at him. Freaky with a capital F. It almost reminded him of Kat. Of a tiger just ready to pounce on its meal. "Meaning?" he asked, eyeing her straight back. "I was walking along the alley way, met her half way down and I was with her from that point on. Eris came and then her," he nodded to Julia, "explanation of that whole event, the end. What else's there to tell?" He looked to Julia, narrowing his eyes slightly. "Well, that's what happened, isn't it?" he asked. "Well, it never does end well for us mere mortals, does it?"OOC: Sorry its shorter than my usual -_- Character Name: Alexander "Alex" Ruckshack Mood: "Interested", Annoyed To: Apate-Goddess of Deceit Julia Porter-Daughter of Aphrodite IC Word Count: 427

Apate smirked and shook her head when Julia thanked her for cutting Eris’ lesson short. “No, I’m sure you and swords don’t get along much at all. More one for lessons on Avon’s latest shades of eye shadow and the latest gossip on Project Runway or whatever.” It was rather pathetic what they considered interesting. But then again, not everyone could have quality hobbies like hanging out with family and seeking revenge for past wrongs, or playing sometimes harmful pranks on innocent bystanders. Just because she was a poor unfortunate ungifted soul, Apate would forgive her this one time for her lack of personality. This one time.
The company she was keeping was not helping her cause in Apate’s mind. Alex just gave off that vibe that if you wanted to learn anything at all from him, you’d have to bind him to the ground and yank it out with razor-sharp tweezers. She sighed when, of course, he shared nothing at all. Useless lump. “So you’re calling me a liar?” She arched an eyebrow at him. She looked between Alex and Julia. “Eris is the type who generally picks battles for reasons. Twisted and stupid though they may be. Sure, I can see her maybe wanting to pick on a child of Aphrodite out for a midnight stroll in the bad parts of town. I mean, who wouldn’t? No offense, hun.” She shrugged, as though she really didn’t care either way if offense was taken at her comment.
But then she fixed her eyes on Alex. “But a little birdie told me, or rather my eavesdropping, that you, child, are known well to Hecate, and certainly no stranger to Eris herself. Perhaps that is why she was visiting you? To check up on her little… friend?” She clucked her tongue and leaned back slightly where she sat. “Didn’t I tell you not to hide things?” She looked to Julia with feigned surprise and regret. “Oh dear, I’m so sorry. Was she not supposed to know that you deal with the likes of them? Well, I suppose better to find out before anything bad comes of it.” Her voice relayed no pity or regret though. ”Pretty much, actually.” No reason for Apate to think she was anything other than a conceited child of Aphrodite who only cared about how she looked. Plus it wasn’t exactly lying… It just wasn’t telling the goddess the whole truth. And she did love makeup tutorials and gossip…
She winced slightly when Apate asked if Alex was calling her a liar, expecting some sort of lashing out from the goddess. When nothing came she relaxed ever so slightly, though she was still on edge as Apate looked at her. ”Calm down. I’m sure he didn’t mean it like that… You’re certainly not a liar.” She said, that charming, magic quality creeping back into her voice. As soon as she noticed it, Julia wanted to clamp a hand over her mouth. Had she really just tried to Charmspeak a goddess? ”None taken. But I honestly just wanted to get back to camp. Or at least I did before I ran into all of you.” Now she just wanted to get out of this situation. Everyone involved were giving her the chills. ”I can’t say I’m surprised.” She said, shooting Alex a look when Apate revealed he was connected with Hecate. ”I mean, a creepy kid like him… It just fits that he’s had dealings with goddesses like them. No offense.” That was Apate’s family she was talking about. And Julia hadn’t exactly left Apate out of her generalization. Maybe she hadn’t named the goddess, but Julia considered her just as bad as Eris or Hecate. Maybe even worse. Julia took a step back, looking between Apate and Alex. ”If she was here for him,” she looked to Alex, ”then by all means let her come back and deal with him.” She smirked. ”But you’ve heard our side of the story, what we were up to.” Julia said, looking back at the goddess. She took a deep breath and waited a moment, composing herself as much as she could, before continuing. This could be risky. ”Why don’t you go ahead and tell us what made you so interested in us?” Julia raised an eyebrow, waiting for the goddess to react. Either the Charmspeaking would have an effect or they would have one angry goddess on their hands.[/blockquote]

Alexander looked between the goddess and the child of Aphrodite again. He was guessing that she was into gossip, make-up and whatever kids of a love goddess were supposed to be into. Not that he had any real interest. It'd just be nice to know if he was going to get attacked with mascara or face powder, or whatever other make-up girls carried around these days. The sixteen year old looked over at Apate and had to use a lot of self control not to roll his eyes. "No, I'm not..." he snorted indifferently; he really didn't care either way.
He had almost expected her to attack him, but she didn't, interestingly enough. Not that he was complaining, but he thought that mortals usually were the ones to get killed first in situations like these. The way he saw it, Apate was the one who was jumping the gun per-say; she could interpret it anyway she liked, but to Alex had just been trying to repeat whatever was necessary for her to shut up. Then again, egging on a goddess that was mega creepy wasn't the best idea in his life. None the less, he couldn't help but think of a cartoon character that had popped into his head as she spoke, asking the mortal if he was calling her a liar. "Jessie," he hissed under his breath, half rolling his eyes. Well if the boot fits, he answered in his head, half finishing the dialogue from Toy Story 2.
Eris seemed almost like a war a starting goddess, just amped up with creepy and toned down with aggression and violence. Julia seemed indifferent to Apate's comment about Eris being after her, but at the same time, it seemed to him as if she wanted to stay on the goddess' good side. Well, it was a goddess after all. They were out to make people's lives miserable. Whatever, Alex didn't care if he was anyone's good or bad side. He was going keep being him, and someone being an immortal wasn't going to change that. Whether that be good or bad, it was him. The demigod's voice changed as she talked, it almost made Alex feel calm. Almost.
Alex just shrugged as Apate pointed out to Julia that he knew Hecate and Eris. "She already knew about Hecate smart one," he growled, looking at Julia and remembering their first meeting at the border. Fine. What if he had met Hecate in New York while he was dizzy and having mega headaches? Not the best condition to be in and to be attacked by monsters with no sort of defense to save yourself with. Hecate had practically saved his life when she gave him the weapon. It was either take the weapon or get mauled by monsters. In all reality, he had forgotten what had made him go to Las Vegas. Boredom? Sophie? Hecate? A feeling? Well, whatever had pushed him to go, had him go to The Lotus Hotel and Casino. There, he had met up with Eris and Hecate. Fun times.
"No offense taken Galinda," Alex shrugged. He half glared at her. "Thanks," he snarled sarcastically. "'Cause you know how much I love having bricks thrown at me." His arm still hurt too, now that he mentioned it. He was going to have a bruise there for a few weeks. Julia started to talk again, in that soothing voice, directed towards Apate once again. Alex slightly narrowed his eyes and looked at Apate, wondering if she'd tell them anything or not.OOC: Sorry for the wait. Apate rolled her eyes when Julia confirmed just how predictable she was. Oh so typical. She paused a moment when Julia continued though. No, maybe the idiot boy didn’t mean it that way. She was distracted from following that train of thought by Alex’s own words. But it wasn’t his denial of the accusation that truly caught her attention. It was him muttering something under her breath. She turned a sharp eye on him. “You have something you want to share?” she said with a raised eyebrow.
Naturally, it seemed, it was the constant stream of chatter from the Aphrodite girl that cute off any further interrogation. “Yes, well, there’s no place home, huh? Guess that explains why you left. You might want to think twice about doing so again, missy.” Though Julia’s summary of Alex made her laugh short and loud and anything but merry. “Oh, that is rich! Calling your own company creepy to his face. I gotta give you credit, missy. Considering the kid seems better with a weapon than you, even if he is just a mortal, that was an interesting move. But hey, your choice. I have to say, though, girl after my own heart on that one. Go ahead and let people know how you feel. Why not?”
She grinned cruelly, quite amused, as Alex obviously didn’t take kindly to the comment. Not that she blamed him. While she herself was all for telling people to their face that they were creepy, she wasn’t one to take such a comment directed towards her sitting down usually. She had a feeling Julia had been including her in the ‘goddesses like them’ but she was enjoying this show too much at the moment. Julia would have her time anyway.
She paused again when Julia kept talking. She had a point. Apate shrugged, calmer. “Yes, I suppose. But it’s really nothing more than what I already told-” Then she recognized the gentle tug in Julia’s words. Her calm attitude vanished immediately and she hopped down from the dumpster. “You dare… You insolent little fool! I should have known you would pull something like that.” Her voice was icy cold and threatening as she took several menacing steps toward Julia. Her eyes were darker than normal, but not the pure black that indicated her magic was at work. Not yet. She seemed to be ignoring Alex almost entirely as she straightened to glare Julia down. “I could make your life worse than Tartarus. Eris is a weakling next to me. I suggest you don’t do that again. Ever.” She was already toying with the idea of making sure this foolish demigod never saw her precious camp again. Her little friend, Alex, would get the same punishment for being in the wrong place at the wrong time if he wasn’t careful. Word Count: 472 Note: Sorry that’s so short.
