Percy hadn’t been lying in the sand more than ten minutes when he fell asleep. In all fairness he had just finished training in the arena and he hadn’t been sleeping well the last two nights. Most of his time over the last week was avoiding Luke and Annabeth wherever he went. Naturally he couldn’t shake their siblings. Where Luke and Annabeth weren’t their brothers and sisters were in his path.
At first there were only voices but everything was pitch. Percy could hear the distant sounds of a battle. By the sounds of it the fighting was horrific and Percy was glad he couldn’t see anything. As though jinxing himself, the battle came into clear view and Percy was positioned among it all. The sky was darkened by storm clouds and there was the familiar scent of salt water on the breeze. The buildings that surrounded them lay in ruin. There was so much dust and smoke in the air from the buildings that were on fire it was hard to tell where they were.
All around him were demigods in battle armor but they were pitted against one another. Percy ran through the chaos trying to find the one person that mattered, Annabeth. He shouted her name but couldn’t find any sign of her. There was so much noise in his ears Percy thought his head was going to explode. A few familiar faces caught his eyes as he sprinted past but there were others that Percy had never seen in his life, but Percy was positive they were halfbloods.
Percy turned and Annabeth was suddenly there standing behind him. And before he knew it he swung Riptide at her. Luckily she dodged. Percy couldn’t believe it he actually attacked Annabeth. He didn’t want to but he was unable to stop himself. He kept pursuing her even as she backed away. Percy cornered her and with one more lunge his sword pieced Annabeth in the gut right through her armor. She let out a gasp and fell to the ground dead.
Percy woke up screaming and flailing his arms and legs. “ANNABETH!” He called out. Sand was sent skyward as Percy scrambled to sit up. It took Percy a few moments until he realized he was still on Fireworks Beach. His chest fell in and out as he tried to catch his breath. Percy glanced down and saw Riptide very much uncapped and in full-blown sword action next to him. He was certain he had capped it and placed it inside his pocket before he even arrived at the beach. Did he uncap it during the dream? Impossible.
The dream felt real and was even more troubling than the stupid voice of Phobos that had long since gone. He was almost ready to find Annabeth and Luke and apologize for the whole thing, but now this dream brought up a whole different problem. He knew how demigod dreams were, and even though they often happened in the present Percy couldn’t help but shake the feeling he saw something that had yet to come. Perhaps it was during the battle of the Great Prophecy, but he didn’t recall seeing Phobos there or any God for that matter.
Percy felt a hollow spot in his chest. He had sworn he felt Annabeth’s blood run over his hands and splatter onto his face when he struck her. Self-consciously Percy carefully examined his hands and touched his face in search of blood droplets. There was nothing but pieces of sand, maybe that’s what he felt. He swallowed. If that was the future he saw there was no possible way he could be the cause of Annabeth’s death. He wouldn’t drive his sword into her even if she was dating Luke instead of him. Now there was an idea that suddenly sounded good. If Percy had to trust Annabeth’s life to anyone it would be Luke, as much as he disliked the guy Annabeth couldn’t be with anyone safer.
The idea of Annabeth in the arms of Luke pissed Percy right the hell off, but it was better than the idea of Annabeth lifeless in his arms. Percy buried his face in his hands. What the Hades was he supposed to do now? He couldn’t be around Annabeth with that possible future. If he remained close to her he would end up hurting way more than he had before. Percy would not be responsible for Annabeth’s death. There was only one solution that Percy could see at this point in time. He was going to have to break Annabeth’s heart to save her life. How poetic was that? Percy scratched his head and looked up to the cloudless sky. “I could really use some assistance you know.” WORD COUNT::795

I wanna tell her that I love her,
but the point is probably mute. It had been just about a week since he and Annabeth had that fight with Percy, a week since he had found those letters that told him Annabeth loved him. He was still trying to wrap his head around that one, she had lied two years ago and she really did love him. It wouldn't be as complicated as one would think except.
he loved her too...
Not that he had told her that, she had a boyfriend. However that hadn't stopped her from kissing him. He shook his head a little to himself. No, Percy was being a jerk and Luke was there for her, that's all it had been. Percy was still her boyfriend and he was still her best friend, that just happened to be in love with her. Things had been so awkward between them since then, part of him thought she may be avoiding him. Either way it was driving the son of Hermes up a fricken wall. He pulled something out of his pocket, it was a small charm bracelet with a swing, a bear, a dagger, a lightning bolt and finally a heart. He had just finished it that morning for Annabeths birthday. He just hoped they would be able to figure everything out enough that he could give it to her, he quickly pocketed it again.
At least he had his siblings right? Well, one sibling. Avery was one of the only ones that seemed to be talking to him right now. Delia and Sami? both lost people because of him, so he couldn't really blame them for hating him. Just come on! He hated that Riley was dead to bring him back, but it wasn't like he asked for it. The last thing he had wanted was to have even more blood on his hands. Then there was Annabelle...What would it take Delia to realize that he mourned her too? He hadn't been her twin yeah, but she had still been his sister. One of the only things he had considered family in the nightmare that had been leading up to both their deaths.
He was now walking along the beach on his own, his hands buried in his pockets as he tried to just clear his head. Something that seems to be getting harder and harder lately. Part of him wished his friend Az would pop out somewhere, he hadn't seen him since his return to the living and the guy had actually been pretty cool to talk to. Luke wouldn't of minded a friend right about then, with his past? He had allot of work ahead of him to keep the ones he had or try and earn back the ones he lost.
He had once been the guy everyone looked up too, and went to for help. Even Percy, He couldn't help but miss that. Even if most of the time he was hiding what had been going on from everyone. That's when he heard it, a voice he recognized as Percy yelling out Annabeths name and he sounded terrified. Had Phobos some how made it onto camp? and was attacking Percy n Annabeth? Without really thinking anymore he pulled out his dagger and ran towards where he had heard the yell.
However when he reached the fishstick he was sitting there in the sand looking grim, he looked around and saw no demon pandas in sight so he lowered his dagger but didn't sheath it yet. He had just gotten in ear shot when he saw Percy look up and ask for help." Um....Well I'm guessing I'm not the help your looking for, but what's wrong? I heard you yell." He said looking actually a little concerned, wow....how awkward was this? Words::: 624 Notes:: Yeaaaah, cookie if you can guess what song I got stuck in my head o.O Bracelet:: Here

Percy massaged his temples as if that would be able to erase his previous and most disturbing dream. The motion was soothing at first but it quickly grew annoying. He couldn’t begin to try and logically think about this dream. Inside his chest Percy’s heart showed no signs of slowing. Annabeth’s face just wouldn’t leave his mind. He could see himself stabbing her again and again. At this point Percy would have welcomed the Phobos voice back with open arms. More scenarios ran through Percy’s head like a barrel full of what ifs. What if he had told Annabeth and Luke straight out about Phobos? What if that was all it took to prevent this future?
Percy messed his already messy dark hair and stared out at the ocean. He had asked for help but it came in the form of the last person Percy wanted to see at that moment. Catching a glimpse of Luke out of the corner of his eye Percy shook his head and didn’t acknowledge him at first.
“You’d win that bet.” He sighed and stood up brushing the sand from his shorts. “I was actually hoping my dad wouldn’t be too busy to come and see or help his son in the time of a crisis but I suppose that’s too much to ask. Maybe you were right about the Gods.” Percy didn’t mean that. He was just upset by everything that was happening. His life was like an airplane spiraling out of control and he was without a parachute. He turned his back on Luke and entertained the thought of walking away. He didn’t need to have this conversation with Luke at this moment. But then Percy remembered the crazy idea that had flashed through his head minutes earlier; Luke dating Annabeth instead of him.
Turning back Percy sized Luke up for a moment. He bent down and picked up Riptide and capped it. “It wasn’t anything major.” Percy responded sliding the pen back into his pocket. He didn’t plan on fighting Luke, not today anyway. He had already punched Luke in the jaw for no apparent reason other than using his old friend as a punching bag to relieve stress. He rolled his shoulders back in another attempt to make himself appear taller than Luke. Percy began to sift through the information in his head and tried to quickly piece together an explanation for Luke. It was a lot easier said than done.
In truth Percy should have probably started with an apology. That was what any sane and logical person would do in this situation. Then again, if either Rachel or Annabeth were present they would probably argue the fact that Percy wasn’t a logical or sane person. He was at one point in time, but Percy had started to slip away since that quest. It wasn’t any fun having a God pick away at your thoughts and pray upon your fears. If anything Percy knew exactly what Luke had gone through. The concern in Luke’s voice and on his face kind of irked Percy though and it still came off as false to him. Phobos had done a number of playing up Percy’s paranoia; it was at a point where Percy suspected Luke of having an ulterior motive.
“What do you care anyway?” He asked with a shrug. “You probably only came running because I shouted Annabeth’s name. Had it been anyone else you’d have just kept on passing by. Let’s just get one thing into the open, you love Annabeth and hey I’m not fine with it but punching you again, despite how good it felt the first time, isn’t going to solve anything.” Percy wished Luke hadn’t come along until he was able to plan things out fully. He drew in a deep breath and let it out trying a more friendly tone.
“It was just a---“ hesitation came when Percy got to the part about the dream. Did he flat out tell Luke or leave him hanging? “Forget it. It’s nothing. I think this beach is a little crowded I’m gonna head back to the cabin.” Luke and Percy were the only two on the beach but Luke’s company was too much. WORD COUNT::705

I wanna tell her that I love her,
but the point is probably mute. When Percy said that he had probably been right about the gods, Luke sighed a little. He still wasn't sure where he stood when it came to all of their godly parents but he did know one thing." You don't mean that.." He said softly as he sheathed his dagger, he didn't want to fight Percy. If anything he just wanted to go back seven years and start over, but that wasn't about to happen. He and Percy had been fighting for years now, and he was in love with Percy's girlfriend. That wasn't exactly something you could get over easily.
He buried his hands in his pockets, man was this awkward. He was Percy turn his back on him and actually thought of turning away himself, but he wanted to know what all of that yelling was about. Not to mention why he had gone all incredible hulk on him and Annabeth, yeah he had been right about one or two things. Just it wasn't like he knew that! As far as Luke was considered, he would never know about any of it either. Because when Percy wasn't acting like a jerk, he made Annabeth happy and she would probably stay with him.
Right?
Part of him, the selfish part of him hoped she wouldn't. The fact that she had said she loved him, and kissed him back in her cabin had only fed that hope. However after what happened, he wasn't sure where they stood. So he did his best to stifle that side of him that hoped him and Annabeth could get their second chance, at least for now.
When Percy turned back around, Luke almost had to hold back a chuckle cause it looked like for a moment Percy was trying to look taller. However he was able to keep his face even." It sounded like something major. Like life or death kind of thing.." He said still looking worried, it was obvious that Annabeth wasn't in any danger. Though it was starting to look more and more like Percy was going off his rocker. First going all postal on him and Annabeth, now this? What's next, turning green and dawning some purple pants?
At what he said next Luke rolled his eyes at first, and there was the hulk again. He probably wouldn't of blamed him for asking that, if he hadn't already punched him in the jaw before." I care because you are a good person, and you mean a hell of allot to Annabeth. Not to mention there was a time I called you my friend." He said truthfully but then he felt anger boil in his chest." If I heard someone in trouble I wouldn't keep walking, I actually do have a heart ya know?!" He snapped before sighing and crossing his arms over his well defined chest. When the subject of how he felt came up, he just became sick of denying it." Yeah, you know what? Your right. I do love Annabeth, have since before I left but I pushed her away because I believed the crap Kronos was shoveling about making the world better for Demi-gods, I pushed her away and I will regret it for the rest of my existence. Just she loves you now, and I respect that because when your not an ass you make her happy." He took a deep breath and was able to calm down a bit.
" It was a what?" He said before Percy suggested going back to the cabin and sighed." You should go and try and fix things with Anna, you hurt her pretty bad before and you both probably need it." What the hell? shut up Luke shut up!

Percy did a double take to Luke after he suggested Luke’s previous thoughts about the Gods were right. He frowned a little and looked away awkwardly. Maybe Percy did mean it, maybe he didn’t. It was just the frustration talking mostly. Percy wanted to hear from his dad more than ever but there was no sign that even cared anymore. It was a disturbing thought. If he couldn’t count on his dad in a time of need then when the hell could he? And more so, who was he supposed to depend on now, Annabeth? Yeah, cause their relationship was in a solid place at the moment. He sighed and shrugged absently not confirming or denying his sincerity on the matter.
The dream found a way of lingering and Percy was still plagued by the emotions behind it and the image of Annabeth’s face. It was so distant and cold, like she didn’t know him at all. Percy shrugged once more, “I said it was nothing important.” The worry in Luke’s voice rubbed Percy the wrong way. Luke didn’t get to feel concern for him. Percy was sure he had forgiven Luke after he saved all of mankind by sacrificing himself, but it didn’t justify everything he had done in the past. Yes, he was grateful for Luke stepping up and playing hero but that one moment didn’t make him a true hero. That’s what bothered Percy the most about Luke’s return.
“Yeah, and we all know how you treat your so called friends. You betray them and leave them for dead.” Percy said his eyes narrowing on the son Hermes’s face. He thought back to the hell Luke had put them all through and those who died for a cause that never would have existed if it weren’t for Luke. All of that hatred suddenly started to rise again. But then Percy remembered the dream and the idea that Annabeth would be better off with Luke. If he continued to stay with Annabeth, Percy would be the one to kill her. At least, that’s what he crazy prophectic dream told him. He needed to speak to Rachel about that, since when did demigods have dreams about the future? Maybe there was a God trying to warn him. Percy’s eyes had fogged over for a moment as he was lost in thought but he brought himself back to the conversation, though after what came next he wished he hadn’t.
The confirmation of what Percy had suspected for so long caught him off guard. He despised hearing those words roll off Luke’s tongue, “I do love Annabeth...” They stung like a knife in Percy’s chest. His fists clenched and his chest felt tighter. The air in his lungs grew scarce, Percy wasn’t aware that he had been holding his breath. After a moment he exhaled and swallowed hard swallowing all of the urges to land another punch on the traitor’s face. Percy nodded stiffly, “I see.” is all he managed to say in response.
Cabin three wasn’t going to be far enough away from this whole catastrophe. Percy wanted to erase this entire day, hell this entire summer. He rolled his eyes still debating whether or not to tell Luke. Now that Percy knew Luke loved Annabeth, he could be certain that no harm would come to her while Percy was out of the picture. And when Luke suggested he patch things up with AB Percy cringed a little. “It wouldn’t fix anything.” He said. “You coming back must have been a sign. You guys were always meant for each other I just got in the way.”
Percy regretted everything he was saying and didn’t believe it for a minute. He loved Annabeth and he was pretty damn sure he would never stop loving her. But until he figured out what his dream meant, he couldn’t be around her. He wouldn’t have her blood on his hands. Luke was the perfect thing for Annabeth in a time like this. Percy was so screwed up right now. With everything with Phobos, this stupid dream and the whole triangle he was in Percy wasn’t sure what was keeping him from crossing the border to insanity. He was a walking contradiction at the moment and everything he said contradicted something else he said prior. His thoughts wouldn’t stay straight and his emotions were even further damaged. I wanna tell her that I love her,
but the point is probably mute. Luke sighed softly, running his fingers threw his hair for a moment. It was something he usually did when he was upset or just plain frustrated. Percy seemed to be accomplishing both, he didn't know what to think. Was he under more stress then he let on to everyone? Or just becoming a total ass hole? He couldn't really tell if he had convinced the other boy of much when he shrugged his shoulders, but then again if he didn't it was probably hopeless at the moment." It still sounds like something important..." He muttered to himself, now pretty much convinced Percy wasnt being completely truthful. Then again, he wasn't exactly Percy's most favorite person.
He was about to say something when Percy hit the jab of what he did to his friends. It felt like someone had punched him in the gut, but he didn't show it at all in his stance. What was worse about the whole thing? Was that Percy was right, Luke was a horrible friend even when he was a big enough idiot to think he was doing the right thing. He had gotten hundreds of people killed, and even almost got Percy, Annabeth and Thalia killed a few times." Just leave it Jackson, I know the consequences of what I've done in the past and I don't expect you to understand or accept my apologies. I'm here to help now, to try and be the hero that some people seem to think I am just because I off'd myself and stopped crap I started to begin with." It was easy to hear in Luke's voice that he thought of himself as anything but a hero, just he was here now to prove to himself that he was what some people seemed to think he was and to try and heal the wounds he left behind.
The moment that the words left his mouth, he regretted saying them. Why the hell was he telling Jackson that he was in love with his girlfriend? Did he want to cause another fight? Yeah he was bigger and probably more experienced then Percy but the guy was no push over. Invincible or not. Or maybe he did want a fight...maybe it would knock some sense into Percy. No, No a fight wouldn't do any good, and it would probably hurt Annabeth too.
However it didn't start a fight, Percy just said 'I see' and brushed it off. Well, he seemed too, but Luke could still feel the hatred coming off of him in waves. Why wasn't he trying to punch the daylights out of him? He had a somewhat good reason too now, where before it was kind of out of left field. So why not take the chance? He must of been up to something, and that hardly could mean anything good.
The silence that fallowed was a little unnerving, why couldn't he just say something? Luke tried to convince him to patch things up with Annabeth but it didn't seem to be going anywhere. " Why wouldn't it? I'm sure if you apologize you two will be fine. I know Annabeth, she cant stay mad at the people she loves for too long after a fight." He said softly, knowing that Percy probably knew that too. But he seemed to be forgetting it. Though the next things that came out of his mouth, Luke looked at him like he had grown 3 more heads.
"What? Did Phobos hit you over the head when I wasn't looking Percy? Cause your talking crazy." Not that he didn't want to believe what he said, that him and Annabeth where meant for each other. He knew he could take care of her, make her happy and heal the scars that their pasts had left behind. Just that wasn't about to happen, right? She loved Percy, she was with Percy and it would devastate her to lose that." I know how I feel about Annabeth, but she chose you. She wants to be with you, and to lose you would break her heart. I cant let you hurt her Percy...She deserves to be happy."

Percy had to go through with the idea of giving Annabeth up to Luke. His dreams were so disturbing that he wanted to know what they meant before he told anyone anything. And if it meant staying away from Annabeth to protect her from himself then that was exactly what Percy was going to do. Luke was the next person he trusted with Annabeth’s safety even though he had tried to kill them in the past. Percy didn’t trust Luke with his well being, but when it came to Annabeth Percy was pretty sure that Luke would die to protect Annabeth. After all who wouldn’t die to protect that girl? She was worth dying for, but Percy couldn’t exactly die for her. He was invincible and only a strategically placed knife would end his life. He almost died for her once and he would have done it again in a heartbeat if he could.
With a mixture of emotions floating around in Percy’s mind and stomach he stood there in silence for a moment collecting his thoughts. Luke wasn’t going to let Percy off easily for wanting to break up with Annabeth. It would break her heart. He’d rather break her heart than wash her blood from his hands. He looked at Luke trying to keep his expression as neutral as possible. It was hard. When Luke told him to leave it, he did. Percy didn’t press the subject further.
Percy could tell Luke was expecting him to make a much bigger deal out of the whole Lunnabeth thing. Luke loved Annabeth. Not like it was a surprise of course and while Percy wanted to punch it out of him that wasn’t going to help the situation. True, it would make Percy feel better. He shrugged his shoulders clearly giving off the impression that he didn’t care to even try to fix things between him and Annabeth. Inside he desperately did but then he remembered how it felt to drive that sword into Annabeth and—Percy clenched his fists.
His eyes narrowed on Luke at the mention of Phobos. Did he know, no he couldn’t have known about the Phobos mind trick thingy. Percy was careful to avoid talking about that to anyone. He even hated to admit it to himself. It was just ironic that he would say that. “No I’m talking logically. Doesn’t happen often. You love her and I...” He couldn’t outright say he didn’t love her that would be the biggest lie he had ever told and it felt like a betrayal to even entertain the thought. He listened to Luke and agreed with everything Luke was saying. Though he would like to see Luke try and stop him. Invincible as Percy was the next things to come out of his mouth might as well have been like driving the knife into the small of his back with his own two hands.
“She only chose me because I was there for her when you weren’t. It was always you and it should be. Besides, she’ll get over me because she’ll have you. She's easy like that. Annabeth does deserve to be happy and you are going to have to be the one to make her happy. ” Percy swallowed regretting every word he had just said. Why the hell was he doing this again? It seemed stupid but he had to keep reminding himself of the dream and possible future. This was dumbest thing he had ever done but to protect Annabeth he had do it. WORD COUNT::585

I wanna tell her that I love her,
but the point is probably mute.
Luke couldn’t help but let out a breath that he hadn’t known he was holding when Percy dropped the whole subject about his past. He really was not in the mood to handle Jacksons guilt trip , really what was going on with this guy? Calling him a bad friend one moment and then in the very same breath telling him that he should be with Annabeth, not Percy. If Annabeth wanted to be with him, she would be. Just right now she loved Percy, she was with Percy and Luke wasn’t about to let him break her heart into a million pieces. He had let her down so many times in the past, he wasn’t about to do it again.
“Really? Because I always thought you were pretty smart when it counted, but right now your proving me wrong. What is going on with you? Your just not making sense, or do you forget when I died? I asked Annabeth straight out if she loved me and she said she did, like a brother.” Luke couldn’t keep back a small wince as he remembered his death, her saying that was still the thing that caused him the most pain. Even more then the physical, though now he knew that she had lied….it still hurt. Also lied or not, Percy had no proof that Annabeth loved Luke back so a little fib wouldn’t hurt anything….right? Luke wanted to be with Annabeth more than anything, to heal the scars that their past had left behind but he wanted it to also be what she wanted. He didn’t want her to have her heartbroken by the fish either….wow was he conflicted. Why didn’t he just accept it? Though he knew that answer, because he wouldn’t believe the things Percy was saying, how he should be with Annabeth, until they came out of her mouth.
He stared at him calm until the words she is easy like that passed Percy’s lips, and everything else the son of Poseidon said fell on deaf ears. Easy?! Easy?! Wha- he! That little – before Luke even knew he was doing it, he was punching Percy square in the jaw as hard as he could. He distinctly heard a small crack noise but above that he felt a sharp pain shoot up from his pointer finger.
Son of a bitch!
He thought, he broke his hand on Jacksons hard head but on the outside he kept his face composed like it hadn’t cause him pain at all, mostly because he was just pissed.” Easy?! Jackson you just need to back track a little and realize what is coming out of your mouth and know this, no matter what my past is or who Annabeth loves….You insult her in front of me, invincible or not you will get to know my fist.”

Percy remembered exactly what had happened back on Olympus during Luke’s sacrifice. He recalled the moment in his mind when Luke brought it up. It did relieve Percy to find out that Annabeth actually only thought of him as a brother and that had been the end of his jealousy. That was until Luke came back to life and popped out of the ground like a daisy. It also didn’t help that he had Phobos barking at him inside hi noggin playing up on his fears.
Annabeth did love Luke though and not in the way she originally said, that much Percy was sure of. And while she may have loved Percy more it still bothered him. That wasn’t the reason for his dumping Annabeth though. Yeah it was a good starting point but he just would have worked harder to to make sure he stayed the number one demigod in her life. It was all due to the recent dream that had pushed Percy’s decision forward. He hated it but he had to prevent that vision or whatever from coming to pass.
The punch came out of nowhere but Percy didn’t deny that he deserved it. Had Percy not taken a bath in the River Styx that blow to the face would have extremely hurt. He barely felt it. His head jerked away from the punch and there was a slight feeling of pressure where Luke had hit him. Percy rubbed his jaw and glanced at Luke with little emotion. The fool had broken his hand on his face. It probably would have been more satisfying for Luke if Percy had felt even a little bit of it. He was an idiot for hitting him, the idiot knew quite well he was invincible. Still, after what Percy had said about Annabeth he was ready to take swing at himself.
“Whatever.” Percy grumbled fixing his jacket. “Look, Annabeth and I just aren’t....I’m done with her. And you can hit me and break every bone in your body trying but it isn’t going to change my mind.” He turned and began to walk away but stopped and turned back. “Just so you know Luke, I don’t’ hate you for anything. I don’t hate you for anything you did in the past or even now. Yeah I’m still a little bitter about the betrayal but I don’t hate you. Just thought you should know. Oh and, you might want to get that looked at by an Apollo kid. I hear that girl Harper is good. Anyway, see you and I hope you and Annabeth will be happy.”
Percy gave a weak smile and walked off regretting everything that had just occurred. But he was telling the truth about one thing, he didn’t hate Luke. He resented a few things that had occurred but it didn’t boil down to hatred even when he found out that Luke was in love with Annabeth. He couldn’t blame the guy for loving her. She was pretty damn amazing. The next thing on Percy’s list was to find Annabeth. Poseidon forgive him for what he was about to do. WORD COUNT::522
