Stupid. That was what Zeus was, standing near the lake of Camp Half-Blood. He, of all people shouldn’t have set foot on these grounds at least not in this state. It would cause pandemonium no doubt. On the rare occasion that he did venture down from Olympus it was to random places, like Air Forces bases and Hollywood clubs. Places where nobody would know who he was. Camp Half-Blood on the other hand was completely different. If you didn’t know who he was here, you were either new or an idiot. Mostly idiots in his opinion but he would keep that to himself.
You’re a terrible father. Those were the words that brought him to camp. His wife really knew how to push his buttons. At that moment Zeus began to wonder why he even married her in the face. Then again, he had made dumber decisions over the years. Regardless of whether he liked it or not she was right. Which made him like her even less at that moment. He did tend to be a terrible father, but it wasn’t like he had a great example to work with. Her hadn’t eaten any of his children which already made him a much better father then Kronos. Why can’t you be more like your brother? These were the words the sent him over the top. Zeus had half a mind to tell her to go stay in his sea palace if she felt that way but he didn’t think Amphitrite deserved the torture. Not that living with him was all that pleasant either. None the less, all he wanted then was to get away from his wife and that’s how he landed at Camp Half-Blood.
He had intended to go see Thalia and Artemis, but something changed his mind. A plane. It had been a long time since Kathleen Hawthorn had crossed his mind. Mostly because he had been so preoccupied with Kronos and Hera had been working hard to distract him from straying again. Kathleen had been the last. Whether it was because he didn’t want a Thalia repeat of because he still loved her Zeus couldn’t be sure. She was probably much happier now, married with more children. Kathleen deserved it but he didn’t know for sure. He hadn’t been able to check up on anybody.
Zeus decided to settle. Maybe he could never have her again, but there was one thing that they would always share. That was the reason that he had come to the camp. Last he had heard that was where he could find his son. It had been quite some time since the last time Zeus saw Nick. Eight years in fact. He vaguely wondered how much he had missed in that time. That weren’t supposed to interfere, those were the rules. It was true he was notorious for breaking them, but to some he had to abide. As much as he hated abandoning his children, he didn’t have much choice. Especially him because of the deal with his brothers. It was a stupid compromise but it prevented another war and that’s what it was all about, keeping the peace. Even if it meant being a terrible father.

Nick had been allowed back to his cabin for the last few nights, even though he was still sore. Only thing was that Gail had barely left him anytime alone since he came home from the Quest. Not that he really minded, part of him was a little upset that he was getting better because that would mean that Gail wouldn't have any reason to hang around him anymore. No matter how much he tried to deny it, he was falling hard for the daughter of Athena. He hadn't wanted to fall for her, because he knew that the only reason she had been hanging around him was she felt responsible for his current condition. But what could he do? She was smart, beautiful and just over all amazing in his eyes. No matter what he did, Nick was doomed no matter what he did when it came to that golden haired beauty.
Sitting in his single bunk in cabin number one he looked down at the leather bracelet on his wrist with the lightning bolt shaped pendent. His sword, and the only thing he had from his father. The only thing he had that showed any proof that the god of the sky could even care a little bit about him. He didn't remember much about him, that he had a beard and crystal blue eyes (the same eyes he saw every time he looked in the mirror). He also remembered that he had a deep voice that could sooth or strike fear into anything. Nick knew that they where not supposed to interfere with their children, but his father was the one who made the rules! Where was he when he and his mother couldn't pay the bills? Where was he when Nick was forced to run away because he was a gods damned son of Zeus? No where to be seen! Without even thinking about doing so he had gotten to his feet and shot a stream of electricity at the wall and leaving a hole in the marble.
Taking a few deep breaths he stared at the wall for a few moments, he really had to watch his temper. He had been on edge ever since he came back from the quest. It was probably a combination of the pain and the fact that this was the beginning of a war, and he missed his mom who he hadn't spoken to since he left two years before. Deciding that he needed some air he grabbed his lucky leather jacket and headed out onto the camp grounds, guessing that Gail was taking this time to spend with her siblings. He walked towards the lake with a small limp, humming a little to himself until he reached the banks of his destination and noticed he wasn't alone. After he got over the surprise he kept walking towards the man, his hands buried in the pockets of his jacket." Been awhile, I didn't even know that you or the other Olympians where allowed here at camp.." He doubted they where, but that only made him wonder why he was now standing beside his father.

Zeus debated on what was the best answer to give his son. Clearly gods were allowed at camp, Dionysus was proof enough of that. Besides that, there was no one with the authority or even dumb enough to tell him where he could or couldn't go, except for the Underworld and he had little interest in going there. It was dark and macabre, Zeus rather preferred the light and airy world around him. Olympus really was the place to be, fortunately not everyone could bother him there. Down here was different, figuratively speaking, anyone could annoy him here. His son was not one such person and it seemed unfair the lack of time they had spent together. He had spent a particularly large amount a time with his other children. The good ones at least, not that he could really have any disappointing off spring. Though there was that one, far too much like his mother. "Has it? Time is a funny thing Nicholai." Honestly, after all these years time just blended together in an unexplainable way. To Zeus it was as though he had seen Nick just yesterday not years ago. The god had always found it strange the way that memories stuck with you. He could remember moments from centuries ago, millenia and even minutes but some days he forgot last week and even yesterday. The thought of it was rather depressing and that was hardly a mood preferred by the Olympian. Instead Zeus decided to focus on something that made him rather proud. Which was the naturally large and imposing size of his son. There was always a larger then life feeling when it came to his children and he liked it that way. Even Thalia, though her attitude was the reason for that.
The ancient god looked out at the sun on the horizon, contemplating how much was too much to tell his boy. Deciding to play it safe Zeus instead decided to see what Nick already knew. "There's rumors going around of a new threat, have you heard anything?" He supposed that this was not the most heart warming reunion but he didn't really care. He doubted that Nick particularly liked him, for what reason he couldn't imagine, and either way he wasn't particularly the warm and cuddly type of god. If that's what he was after then he'd have to move to the Hermes cabin or that sap Apollo. Business, mostly preventing the end of the world, was always much more important then playing father dearest.
Admittedly, Zeus was not particularly scared by this new 'threat' but it was easier to destroy something if you knew what you were up against. Seeing as the Castellan boy had been behind the previous end of his reign scheme - and had been almost successful- it only seemed right to assume this new person would seek out demi-gods. After all, Gods had few real weaknesses but it remained true that you don't mess with their children. If recruiting was being done through the camp as he suspected surely someone would know. Whether it as acknowledged or not, Zeus trusted his son and at the moment he was his only tie to humanity.
