Calypso sat braiding garlands of white wild flowers into her caramel colored hair. Her toes lightly touched the surface of the lake. The water was cool and had a very different feel than salt water. Someone ordinary probably would never be able to feel the difference between the two types of water, salt and fresh. After having lived on an island for centuries Calypso was able to feel the difference between the two. She loved and mourned the sea. Having seen so many heroes come and go from her shores Calypso associated the ocean with a cold loneliness. The fresh water lake that rested in the middle of Camp Half-Blood on the other hand was so full of life.
A water nymph floated by and waved up at the goddess. She grinned and waved back tossing her braid over her shoulder once the task was complete. Calypso gripped the edges of the dock and leaned forward to stare at her reflection in the water. She was enjoying it here at camp much more than she thought she might. Things probably would have been more difficult if Isaac hadn’t been there to meet her on the first day. Calypso didn’t believe in coincidence. Fate was the word that she used to describe their meeting in the stables.
She smiled sitting back swinging her legs gently. Isaac was different than most of the heroes she had met in the past. It wasn’t a bad thing. Calypso liked him a great deal and thought about him even now. She was off of her island now and the idea of falling in love had entered her head so many times since her release. She had believed been in love a few times over the last two years but trying to decide between love and attraction was hard. She had almost forgotten how to decipher between the two. She was cursed to fall in love with every hero who washed on her shore and they would have to leave her in the end. Now she was free to fall in love with the man of her choosing, and they wouldn’t ever have to leave her.
Was she in love with Isaac so soon? Calypso frowned a little and looked across the water glistening in the setting sun. Dinner would follow shortly but Calypso did find herself very hungry. She was still trying to sort out her feelings toward the son of Athena. He was very kind and smart, being a child of Athena this didn’t come much as a surprise. However, Calypso was afraid to put the label of love on anything at the moment. She didn’t want her heart to be broken again. Calypso wasn’t so sure she would be able to survive another heartbreak. Her emotions for Percy Jackson still ran deep and even for Odysseus who would be long dead by now. She heaved a sigh and leaned over the edge again. Without hesitation Calypso let herself fall into the lake. To an observer it would seem this girl either had a death wish or merely slipped. As the cool water washed over her she smiled to herself hoping the fresh water would ease her mind about such troubling and complicated issues. WORD COUNT’’:540 OUTFIT:H E R E

Something else that Edmund didn't really like about being a ghost? He couldn't pick things up. The kid couldn't hug or pick flowers, which were two of his most favorite past times. He had been drifting through a very large land plot full of strawberries. They looked so good that the small boy had just wanted to pluck one off and eat it! Which led to the other problem about being deceased. He couldn't eat anything. Ed had tried opening his mouth and zooming across the field, but every single thing went through him. He did, however, feel the rush of the wind straight through his body, which was quite thrilling. Even if he could eat, he didn't even know if his bodily functions even worked in a living sort of way anymore, if that made sense. It was actually quite creepy when he stopped to think about it. Then again, his hyperactive mind didn't really think about anything for too long. If he couldn't pick up things, he obviously couldn't latch onto anything either. But of course, the eight year old didn't think about that. Which led him to the subject of tree climbing. It had been so much fun when he was alive! Then again, when one's a ghost, it changes the situation entirely. Edmund had decided to go into the forest and stake out a tree, just like he had when he was four. It had taken him one shot to figure out that if he tried to climb the it, he went directly through it. Ah well, he still thought being a ghost was cool, even if it did have some set backs. After going through the tree, he had decided to try flower picking. It was just as disastrous as him trying to eat strawberries. At least he still had flowers in his coat pockets! The small boy put his hand into one of the pockets in his slightly transparent denim jacket. The flowers were still there, their color, just as Edmund was, faded and see through. He had ten of them; his original plan was to give it to the nice man who looked after him, but him getting shot prevented that. He wasn't that disappointed that he hadn't been able to give them, he still had them, which made Edmund rather happy. When he first got out of the Underworld, he had tried to give them to Alex's dad, but the house was empty. It looked like it had been for a long time; there was dust and a few cobwebs in it and that had been enough for Edmund to figure out that no one lived there anymore. After floating out of the forest, Edmund caught sight of sparkling water, being highlighted by the setting sun. Attracted by the pretty light and the reflection that made the water shine, the ghost boy had started to follow the stream up. During his progress upwards, he tried to catch one of the glimpses of light in his hands. He tried with the knowledge that even if he was alive, it wouldn't be possible. Ed had tried plenty of times back in his forest, and it had never worked. The boy still chased them though, it was great fun! As he worked his way up, his gaze fell on a girl. She was waving to something he couldn't exactly see and he giggled. She was rather pretty... then again, most of the girls at this camp were just charming! There was something pretty in the girl's hair, and before he could call out a greeting, the girl fell into the lake. Edmund took a deep breath and then dove in after her. It was only after a few seconds that he realized that he didn't really need to hold his breath. He was dead... after all. The boy let it out and then floated along to the girl who had just jumped in. "Hi there!" he squeaked happily, wondering if she was one of those people who could see him or not. "I saw you fall," he explained, starting to babble even though he still wasn't sure if she could see, no less hear him. "Are you okay, or are you one of those people who really like nature?" he asked with a giggle. His thought track switched. "The flowers in your hair are really pretty, like you!" he giggled, grinning at the girl. OCC: Uh, sorry. Hope you don't mind me coming in. I need to get this kid active and alive (sorta? XD) That and feel free to back hand me about any of the ghost sensations, I'm still not entirely sure, so I'm sorta making it up as I go XD IC Word Count: 757

The water helped to sooth Calypso’s thoughts but it did not wash them completely away like she had hoped. Isaac was still floating around inside her head. She couldn’t complain so much. Calypso liked thinking of Isaac but she hated the emotions that came with it. Those thoughts would lead to Percy and from Percy to Odysseus. Calypso kept her eyes shut under water for a moment until the images of the past flashed through her mind. She opened her eyes. Being Immortal lack of air under water didn’t matter. Her vision took a few moments to adjust to the murky water. She couldn’t see perfect but well enough with the remaining sunlight penetrating the water’s surface.
Calypso blinked unsure of what she was seeing at first. It was certainly a face in the water and it wasn’t solid like a mortal face. Her brow furrowed as she studied what appeared to be a young boy. She would have been more startled if she hadn’t previously seen water nymphs floating about. She believed to be staring at a male nymph. But that didn’t really make sense at all. Nymphs were not male. They were all female. Calypso smiled and desired to speak back to this strange creature but she could not under the surface. Kicking her legs she resurfaced taking in a breath of fresh air. Some of the flowers had lost their petals in collision with the water. She wiped the water from her eyes and face and looked down at the young boy.
“I’m perfectly alright.” She replied pushing loose strands of water soaked hair from her face. Her legs gently kicked to keep her on the surface. The bottom was just out of her reach. “I am one of those who really like nature. I just wanted to go for a quick swim, to try and ease my mind.” Calypso swam over and gripped one of the poles of the dock. “And thank you for the compliment. I’m sorry if I scared you it wasn’t my intention little one. But if you don’t mind me asking, what exactly are you?”
Calypso suspected the answer but she didn’t want to assume something and offend the poor thing. He was adorable and so full of energy. Calypso hugged the beam and leaned her head against it all the while her legs struggled against her long dress to keep her floating. WORD COUNT’’:401 OUTFIT:H E R E

Edmund had learned how to swim when he was little. Like almost every little kid, his mother had brought him to a public swim place and had taught him herself. It hadn't been for long though, all she had done was put him in Elmo floaties; she hadn't kept him long enough to teach him how to legitimately swim by himself. He remembered quite clearly that there had been, and there still was a small pond in the forest. However, Edmund hadn't swam in it, mainly because he didn't know how. He had remembered the water, somewhere in his subconsciously baby mind, but he didn't know how to swim by himself. All he had done at the pond was watch pond life, make ripples and he had tried to skip rocks.
From his time alone in the forest, Ed had learned how to entertain himself rather well, with anything and everything. Living in the forest had been interesting and fun, far from boring. There was something to be learned and experienced every day. The small boy had embraced that and had learned various ways to past time. While living a life in the forest, he had picked up some habits that would look sort of odd to a spectator observing him while he was alive in the forest. He'd act like a squirrel, a mouse and a few other animals that resided in his forest.
The girl seemed to be among the small group of people that could see him. Awesome! Ed's eyes lit up as she surfaced, looked down and started talking to him. Yes! he squealed internally. He shot upwards rather rapidly, but made not even the slightest ripple in the lake. Yes, she could see him, yet it seemed as if she couldn't talk under the water. Well, that was normal for the living, wasn't it? "Oh, okay!" he giggled. "Just making sure, you deserve to be alright," he said happily, bobbing just a few inches away from the surface of the water. "Fantastic!" he squeaked, starting to bounce around on the spot, his eyes lit up with happiness. "Water's pretty," he giggled. "I'd imagine it'd have that effect," the boy said, nodding and peering curiously down through his own body.
He grinned at the girl as he watched her swim over to a pole. It was attached to something long that was leaning over into the water... it was wooden and it looked interesting. "You're quite welcome," the small boy squeaked happily. "No, it's fine, you looked rather graceful at any rate," he grinned at her. Edmund smiled at her and then tugged the sides of his jacket more infront of him so it would cover his stomach more. He couldn't really do anything about the tears in his pants. "I'm a residential Ghostie boy!" he giggled, totally at ease with the fact. "Don't know if I'm the only dead come back to the world of the living one around here or not... haven't really looked yet," he grinned. Edmund bounced for a second then his mind switched tracks. "Nice to meet you new friend! What's your name!? What's your favorite color!?"

Calypso couldn’t help but laugh at the excitement of the little boy. He was a joy to watch and after finding out he was a ghost she was amazed that he could posses such happiness. She felt sad thought watching him. To think that a boy this young, he couldn’t be more ten years old, had died was unsettling to Calypso. She had seen ghosts before but that was so long ago. There weren’t many who could see ghosts, Immortals and those who were children of underworld Gods and that was it. It had to be such a lonely existence. Calypso couldn’t frown though, the boy’s energy was too upbeat to look sad about anything despite how she felt.
Calypso waded in the water until she was at a level where she could lift herself back onto the dock. She wrung her hair out and continued back to the end of the dock. She sat down, her clothing soaked. And while the sun was nearly set the summer air kept her from freezing. Not that she would die from the cold. That was the perk of being immortal. She watched him with sad eyes but accompanied by a smile.
“Thank you again.” She chuckled. “You’re so full of energy for—“ Calypso stopped herself deciding not to mention anything. She knew what it was like to be alone and she had never been truly happy even when heroes washed up on her shore. A lonely life was never a happy or pleasant one. And those who thought otherwise were lying to themselves. Even now Calypso’s existence was sad and almost down right miserable. She didn’t let others in on this reality though. Leaning back on her hands Calypso’s head bobbed up and down as the boy bounced with excitement. His enthusiasm was nearly exhausting. Her hand covered her mouth as she proceeded to chuckle at his upbeat nature.
“I have to say it is a pleasure to meet you as well. I’m Calypso and I suppose if I had to choose a color to be my favorite it would probably be blue. It was one of the only colors I looked at day in and out. The ocean reflects the sky. Thousands of miles apart and still the ocean wants to be like the sky. It’s beautiful, that kind of love.” She sighed and shook her head. “I’m sorry, forgive my babbling. Not many find meaning in it like I do, but I love it. It’s a love story not often thought about.” She picked up a corner of her dress and wrung the water from it. “How about you, what’s your name? And forgive me for saying but, you’re the certainly the more pleasant ghost I have ever come in contact with.” WORD COUNT’’:464 OUTFIT:H E R E

Edmund was used to little company. He had never been around many people from the start. His mother, the kind man in the forest, Ryan, Alex and that was the extent of his human company in the living world. The most people he had ever seen at once had been in the underworld, when he had died. So exciting, but sad, seeing so many people who had no idea where they belonged, himself included. Ed didn't exactly account himself as lonely, he had found more people than he had thought he would that could see him. It had been slightly disheartening for the first week though. No one seemed to see him or hear him and the forest (minus the animals), along with Alex's house had been deserted. He was beginning to like his Camp alot though, almost like a second home. He was happy here because everyone who was able to see him, seemed to reside here. What an awesome Camp to be in!
He floated upwards as the girl sat herself onto the dock, wringing out her golden hair. Her face was smiling, but her eyes were different. Interesting... he had to ask about that. Then he grinned as she began talking again. "You're welcome again," he squeaked. Edmund tilted his head as the girl didn't finish her sentence. He knew what the next two words were though. "A ghost?" he giggled. "It's fine. It's what I am and it's not changing for all eternity," he laughed. At first, he had thought that his appearance would change and he'd look different. He had no idea why though, he wad dead, the way he died was the way he was staying forever. His mind and body was stuck as an eight year old. Boy was it fun!
The eight year old grinned. "Thank you!" he said happily. "So nice to be in the presence of such a nice lady," he giggled. Edmund titled his head. Calypso... that was an interesting name. One that he hadn't ever heard. It sounded so unique and pretty! Then again, he hadn't heard a lot of names in his life, so he was still expanding. Blue was a pretty color too! He listened eagerly to Calypso's explanation of the color blue. "Oooh! That was such a pretty explanation!" the boy said, smiling happily. It sounded so poetic! "Your wording for that was so nice... I like the sky and the ocean too. Never really been near the ocean, but I've seen the sky a lot, its so big and beautiful... and the clouds are so much fun to look at!" He smiled at her. "No reason to forgive anything, your babbling was rather lovely!" The way she had talked made it sound like the small river in his forest, and that had made him rather happy.
"My name's Edmund," he grinned. "Or you can call me anything related to it," he giggled, his eyes grinning. He titled his head. "Really?" he asked, interest flaring in his bright brown eyes. "There are others floating around here?!"
