Cameron had turned around a total of six times since he had first started heading towards the Ares cabin. He knew he needed two companions for his quest-which he still firmly believed shouldn't have been his quest-, and he could really only think of a couple people that he would actually consider taking with him. At first the snarky Ares girl wasn't included in that list of people, but the more he thought about it, the more he realized that he certainly wouldn't mind having her along on this dangerous little adventure. She was, no doubt, a good fighter, which was always helpful. And, well, he liked her attitude.
He couldn't say the same about her liking his own attitude, but that was less than important. If she said yes to going on this quest, which seemed unlikely, then annoying her would just be even more entertaining. He didn't usually like being annoying, but it certainly proved to be fun when provoking her at the little camp dance...And well, he didn't like to think of people only based on their apperance, but he'd admit that she certainly was nice to look at.
Pausing in his walk up to the cabin, Cam took a moment to take in the poorly constructed building. Well maybe not poorly constructed, but poorly decorated. The bright red color was like a beacon, one that, unfortunately, never disappeared. The animal head mounted on the cabin was also very unfortunate. He could understand that they were trying to come off as threatening, but couldn't they do it a little more tastefully, and a little less barbarically? He felt like he was walking towards a cabin full of cannibals, not a cabin full of just a group of kids with anger issues.
Cam took one more moment in which he allowed himself to debate whether or not this was a good idea, before knocking lightly on the door. That Rachel girl had said that he'd need charm and temper to do his best so he decided to cover that in as many aspects as possible, personalities included. He was charming, and so were any number of his siblings, though last time he'd checked, none of them had been all that tempermental. Ares kids, on the other hand, covered the temper thing perfectly.
The poorly made door swung inward violently, snapping Cameron back to attention. A lanky boy, maybe around 16 was standing in the doorway, giving him a look that screamed get-away-from-my-cabin-now-or-I'll-gut-you. Not very welcoming, but he could deal. He got that look often enough that he was used to it by now. "Hello, there. I'm looking for one of your sisters..Her name's Natalie." He flashed a small smile to the boy, which only received a death glare and a few moments of awkward silence in return. "About yea high," Cam held up his hand to what he assumed was about Natalie's correct high. Once again: Silence. "Kind of hazel eyes?" He tried again, only with the same response. Was this kid a moron? "It's kind of funny..you and her kind of have the same I-want-to-kill-you look."

Natalie had spent most of the day in the arena training and taking her anger out on a few dummies, and one or two campers. After the defeat of a kid from Apollo cabin, leaving him with a bloody nose and broken wrist the other campers avoided her. Natalie didn’t mind though. She could use her full strength on the dummies. She had to call it a day when her sword finally cut through the wood post. So she took her sword and left the heap of straw, cloth and wood to rest in her cabin. There wasn’t any particular reason as to why she was angry. Natalie would sometimes just have days where her temper flared and whoever got in her way regretted it. Guess it was an Ares thing.
She was calm now though. Laying on her bunk listening to her ipod brought her temper back to a normal level. Her foot tapped along to the music and every now and then she would hum. Natalie loved music and could just spend hours getting lost in the thousands of songs she had downloaded. Unlike most of her siblings she enjoyed music to the point where Natalie would have liked to be a musician in the real world, if she wasn’t half God. Occasionally Natalie forgot that she wasn’t alone in the cabin and begin singing out loud. Groans and her siblings telling her to shut up usually met this. Loving family.
“Let’s go all the way tonight, no regrets just love. We can dance until we die, you and I will be young forever. You make me feel like I’m living a teenage dream the way you turn me on I can’t speak. Let’s runaway an—“
Her vocals were cut off by a missile in the shape of a pillow “Shut up!” Several of her siblings barked.
The pillow hit Natalie right in the face causing her temper to spark again. She sat up pulling the ear buds out. “I wasn’t asking for your permission to sing, it’s a free country! Now who threw the pillow!?” She practically screamed. Her siblings rolled their eyes and went about their business. Natalie wasn’t in the mood for this crap. She glared at them; they turned their backs on her. Not cool. “I said who threw the pillow?”
She marched out in the middle of the cabin. “Natalie.” one of her brothers called her name. It was Vince. He stood by the door looking over his shoulder. She jerked her head to him. “Not now Vince. So who threw this at me cause they’re going to be coughing and crapping feathers for a week by the time I am done with them.” The rest of her siblings continued to ignore her.
“Natalie.” Vince called again clearly agitated. “Natalie.”
Natalie turned and whipped the pillow at Vince hitting him in the shoulder. “For Zeus sake Vince what do you want?”
Vince opened the door wider and Natalie saw Cameron that annoying, yet handsome, son of Aphrodite standing on the porch. The scowl dropped from her face and for a second she turned red with embarrassment. Vince glared at Natalie like he wanted to kill her, and to be honest he probably did. Natalie marched over to the door. Vince muttered something and pushed past Natalie. She didn’t give a second glance to her brother. Natalie walked out on the porch and slammed the door to the cabin behind her.
Natalie couldn’t believe that he had, more than likely, heard her scream and threaten to shove a silly pillow down the throat of one of her siblings. The idea still sounded good in Natalie’s head but she was almost mortified that Cameron had caught her at this moment. She tried to pretend that nothing had happened. She looked Cameron up and down for a moment with a cool expression. Her eyes were still burning with anger, “What do you want?”

It was a wonder that none of these Ares kids had killed each other yet. Cameron didn't know for sure, but he was guessing the screaming and threats were constant and not just a one time occurence. That was very unlike his cabin where the closest him and his siblings got to screaming and yelling was when someone didn't put someone else's make-up back in the exact spot where it had been originally. Even then the arguments didn't go very far. They were settled with 'Fine..just put it back in the right spot next time...and let me borrow your stiletto shoes for Friday.' Clearly that wasn't how he and his half-brothers solved things, but that was definitely how the girls worked things out.
Cam resulted to rocking back and forth on his heels to calm his nerves. The longer he stood there with that Ares boy glaring him down, the more he realized just how terrible of an idea this was. Ares kids weren't friendly, not in the least, and here he was, planning on inviting one of them to go on a long drawn-out quest with him? If something else didn't kill him first, Natalie certainly would. If she even said yes, that was.
Half of him was hoping that she would give him a flat-out no. Perhaps she'd scream it at him just like she was screaming at her siblings now. There was always the high possibility of someone dying on a quest, or at least getting seriously hurt, and the idea of anyone else getting hurt because of him made his stomach twist. He had no problem with himself getting a little beat up, well he was a little concerned about that, but at least that was better than somebody else. When the other demigod boy reached the third time of calling for his sister, Cam was about ready to turn around and head straight back to his cabin, where he could discard the idea of ever inviting anyone on this stupid thing at all.
Before he could bolt though, the kid, Vince apparently, swung the door open wide enough to the point where Cameron could see inside of the cabin. Not much better than the outside, that was for certain. Lifting his hand, Cam gave Natalie a small nonchalant wave, as she finally finished her little screaming fit. Her face was tinged a red color, and this time not because of her anger, but he was thinking because she had been caught during her temper tantrum. He, on the other hand, was a little glad for her embarrassment because it gave him enough entertainment to pull out a small smile that wasn't overshadowed with the anxiety he was feeling.
Cameron took an inadvertant step or two backwards as Natalie shoved her way out into the open. "Hello to you too, beautiful." He pulled out the best flirtatious grin he could manage as he gave her outfit a quick assessment. A definite change from the other night that he'd seen her, but of course he doubted she regularly walked around in dresses. He was tempted to laugh a little when he read the word 'love' on her shirt. Granted he didn't know anything about her love life, but Ares kids weren't the most loving so it was weird seeing the word on anything they owned. After a moment or two of him focusing on a small spot on the cabin wall, Cam cleared his throat. "I actually had a question for you," He started, dragging his attention back to Natalie. Wow did she look pissed. To make himself feel a little better, he was going to go ahead and pretend that it wasn't just because of seeing him though. "How do you feel about quests..in general?" Cam asked her, deciding to edge around the direct subject a little.

Natalie kept her body tense as she attempted to keep her strong demeanor. She couldn’t let on how embarrassed she actually was when she realized Cameron had heard her little hissy fit. She sneered and rolled her eyes at Cameron’s charming yet high inappropriate grin. If he didn’t irritate her so much she would have flirted right back. There was no fun in flirting with Aphrodite boys, not only were they full of themselves but they flirted right back and there was almost no point in that. She liked the one sided flirting better, it was much more amusing. She scratched her head and shrugged. He wasn’t even looking at her. This was a waste of time.
“If your question involves if I hate you or not you’re very warm.” She folded her arms across her chest. Natalie’s expression hardened with a smug delight. She thought her comment was clever though she should have known better that it probably wouldn’t put Cameron in his place. From the experience at the dance it would take a lot to trip up Cameron. Though it apparently didn’t take much to trip up Natalie. When Cameron brought up the topic of quests her mind raced. She immediately wondered why such a subject would be brought to light and why he would be asking her opinion. It showed on her face for a second that she was taken aback by the question.
“Well,” She started pushing the hair out of her face. That was a good question, Natalie hadn’t really thought on it before. She was never given a quest and it didn’t bother her so much. When Clarisse was given a quest Natalie was admittedly a touch jealous but she was more proud of her sister. Natalie shrugged. “I think they are dangerous and demigods who go on them are reckless and have a death wish.” She didn’t stand 100% behind those beliefs. Natalie was more saying that to put up a front.
Her eyes narrowed and she arched one of her brows, “Why do you ask?” Natalie placed her hands on her hips. There was no reason for Cameron to seek her out to just inquire about the subject. What did he really care about her opinion anyway? Unless he had received a quest and if that were the case did he really need to come here and flaunt it in her face? The more Natalie thought about it the more agitated she got. She didn’t need Prince Charming rubbing her nose in the fact that he had a quest.

"Ashamed of your little pillow fight?" Cam chuckled as her negative attitude continued to spiral downwards. With most girls he wouldn't provoke them, but Natalie just made it too entertaining not to. If she didn't have-what he considered to be-exaggerated reactions then he probably would've apologized and actually tried to treat her nicely. Well maybe not...She practically hated him just because he was Aphrodite's kid so he didn't really feel the need to be nice. "Because you shouldn't be...I thought it was cute. Would've been cuter if you had been wearing your Cinderella pajamas though." He smiled and shook his head in fake disappointment. Well maybe not completely fake, because her in Cinderella pajamas would've been a sight to see.
"That hurts, Natty." He pouted childishly, stopping his continuous rocking for a moment. It was better if he was steady on his feet when she decided to hit him for calling her Natty. He had serious doubts that anyone had ever called her that and gotten away with it. Perhaps her mother, but even then Natalie probably hadn't enjoyed the nickname. He didn't appreciate nicknames much either though, at least not when they were being used on him. Sweet pet names like sweetheart and stuff, that was fine. But what nicknames he felt were stupid were mostly Cammie and Cammie-bear. They both made him sound like a girl, and that he didn't appreciate. The only people he had let call him those names were Daniella and Delia.
Reckless with a death wish? Not how he would describe himself, but okay. It wasn't like he had asked for the stupid quest. In fact, if the quest had been returnable Cam would happily have given it right back to that Oracle girl. "Good to know..." He mumbled, rubbing his temples. This whole quest business was starting to give him a permanent migraine. Maybe one of those healer kids could give him a bottle or two of Tylenol.
Why did he ask? Oh right..because he was a moron. That sounded like an answer that she would agree with, however it wasn't the most accurate one he could give. "Well...I figure it's kind of pointless to ask now because of your view on quests, but.." He trailed off again, absentmindedly fiddling with the collar on his shirt. Cam didn't get nervous too often, but asking someone to go on a quest which they could potentially die on was reason for being nervous. "Alright I'll just put it right out there. Would you, perhaps, like to accompany me on a quest?" He asked quickly, giving her a small but encouraging smile. Though he doubted the encouragement would do much to persuade her to say yes.

Natalie rolled her eyes in a dramatic fashion. She balled her hands into fists as Cameron proceeded to tease her. Normally she wouldn’t stand there and take it but rather comeback with something witty and sarcastic or she would just flat out punch them. However, when Cameron poked fun at her Natalie found herself so irritated and embarrassed that she was hardly able to come back with anything other than a cold stare. She was a master at those and always carried a purse full. She scoffed and upped the attitude, “I’m not ashamed of it.” She grumbled unable to think of anything to him with. His compliments seemed fake to Natalie though she did secretly like them but she couldn’t tell how real he was.
Cameron was more annoying than any guy or child of Aphrodite Natalie had ever met. She wanted to slug him in the face more often than not, but she never carried through with it. Admittedly it would be a shame to mess up that face that looked like the Gods themselves had carved it. This guy would be fun to hit on just like any other guy Natalie came in contact with but for some reason this boy rubbed her the wrong way...not in that way, not that she wanted him to or thought about him rub—Natalie shook her head. Placing a mocking grin on her face and gave a shrug. “The truth hurts Prince Charming, get used to it.”
Her patience was beginning to wear thin. The longer she stood there the more embarrassed Natalie was about whole hissy fit she had. There was never a guy Natalie seriously wanted to impress but since the dance she felt that she had to make a good impression on people, if not one person in particular. Her eyes narrowed on Cameron as he took in what she had said about quests. If that was all he wanted to know then he could just leave, Natalie wasn’t in the mood to hear about some fabulous quest he was going to be going on. What did she care if he went on a possibly deadly quest?
Natalie had to take a minute to fully process the question that came from Cameron’s perfect mouth. She wasn’t positive but she could have sworn he had just invited her on a quest. There was no hiding the surprised expression on Natalie’s face. She honestly wasn’t expecting him to invite her along. It was touching and yet at the same time suspicious. Her lips almost formed a smile in return but quickly it melted into a scowl. “Why are you asking me, to get a good laugh? Or are you really that helpless that you need a kid of Ares to accompany you?”
Natalie could have been a little more kind about the response she was flattered that he would ask her and Natalie already knew her answer. Of course she had to know that Cameron was being serious and not just leading her on so that when she did accept he would burst out laughing at the joke he had just pulled on her. “You actually thought I would ask you on a quest? You?” Cameron’s imaginary jeers ran through her head for a second but Natalie blocked them out and focused on the real Cameron in front of her.
“You’re serious aren’t you?”

Cameron couldn't hold back a small chuckle in amusement as Natalie curled her little fingers up into supposedly threatening fists. He knew just as well as anybody that those fists were probably dangerous as Hades, but somehow he still couldn't take them seriously. She appeared way too small and adorable to even be considered a threat. If she'd heard that thought though then he probably would've had a broken nose already. Which, mind you, would not look very charming on the son if Aphrodite. He'd only ever gotten two black eyes and he could still remember just how horrid they had looked. He would almost shudder at the thought of another. "What? No witty retort?" He feigned a look of shock, even though he was at least a little bit shocked (apparently not enough for a real facial expression though). Last time he'd seen her at the dance she had been keeping up quite well with his teasing banter. "I must say I'm disappointed."
"Got a case of the butterflies?" He quipped as she shook her head at something she must've been thinking. And it was highly unlikely that she was actually thinking of anything that would give her butterflies while he was around. "Because don't worry, I have them too." The hint of a joke played in his words, but it was less prominent then it had ever been before. Perhaps that was because he wasn't even really joking about having those special little butterflies. "That it does, but I guess at least you're being honest, Cindarelly." He replied, pronouncing the name just like those little mice, Gus-Gus included, on the movie had. Sadly he knew way too much about Disney movies for his own good. Every single day Daniella had insisted they watch at least one Disney movie. So now he was ashamed to admit he knew the lyrics to all of the songs (because yes, she had made him sing along with her), knew the names of all the characters (even the unimportant ones) and knew a good majority of the quotes from the movies as well.
"On a side note; Cindarella and Prince Charming lived happily ever after together." Cam resisted the urge to wink at her again. It was practically a force of habit by now. "Thanks to Cinderella's fairy godmother. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo." He smiled goofily, rubbing the back of his neck in a small moment of embarrassment. He wasn't easily or often embarrassed, but it was a little something to be embarrassed about when you were a 19 year old guy who could quote Cinderella's fairy godmother.
"A good laugh? Nah, I think I got a good enough laugh from your little temper tantrum." Cameron considered that answer, unsurprised that Natalie had thought that perhaps this was a joke. They weren't exactly the best of friends or even really acquaintances, and they didn't exactly get along well either. So he'd admit she had good reason to be suspicious, but still, he was the slightest bit offended. Even more so offended when she implied that he was helpless. He didn't care what everyone around Camp said, even though he was Aphrodite's kid he was still a pretty damn good fighter. "Wellll, if you want to be a complete brat about it I have no problem finding someone else."
Cameron was only half tempted to tell her no he wasn't being serious and just saunter right back to his cabin. But instead he remained standing there with his fingers tucked in his pockets. It was kind of hard to even be a little positive when talking about quests. "Yes ma'am." He replied with what could only be considered a hopeful smile.

Natalie was seconds away from clocking Cameron in the jaw. He was the most infuriating son of Aphrodite she had ever met and everything he said found a way of crawling under her skin. His words itched and Natalie wanted to be rid of them. She glared at him her hands balled up so tight that the skin around her knuckles was white. “I can give you a witty retort right to your face courtesy of my fist if that’s what you want. But I’m not sure you want me to rearrange your perfect Aphrodite features.” She said in a mocking fashion. “Then again it might be an improvement.”
When he made the comment about Cinderella and Prince Charming living happily ever after she had to resist the urge to blush. “Don’t make me vomit.” Though the goofy grin was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. Her face turned beat red and she could feel her face warm. Natalie tried to give her best daughter of Ares evil looks to pass off the rouge color as side effect of her being so angry. She thought about turning around and storming back inside the cabin. Natalie was curious though as to why he asked her on the quest. There was no way he was serious about it.
“No wait.” She said as Cameron mentioned finding someone else. Natalie wouldn’t mind proving herself and a quest was a rare opportunity. Then again, this summer it seemed to be a common occurrence. Natalie folded her arms across her chest. She eyed him for a moment and decided that she believed him. Cameron was serious about asking her to accompany him. Though it didn’t mean it made anymore sense. Natalie was under the impression that they didn’t get along. And she was pretty sure Cameron didn’t have a shortage of friends. She chewed on her lip for a moment in thought.
Her hard expression softened and she gave a shrug. “I suppose I should make sure you don’t get killed. The last thing this camp needs is another dead demigod.” That was Natalie’s way of saying, I’d love to accompany you on a dangerous quest and fight by your side. Those exact words would not come off her tongue willingly so she settled for the less polite and indirect version. She flashed a small smile; “I guess we’ll have to learn to live with each other for a while. So I’ll lay off the Prince Charming crap if you stop calling me Cinderella.” She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and shoved her hands into her pockets. “Just don’t make me do all of the work on this thing.” Natalie gave him a wink.

Cameron bit his lip in amusement, seemingly unbothered by her never ceasing threats. "How about courtesy of your lips?" He suggested flirtatiously, running a hand through his short hair. "Just sounds more pleasant to me." The boy shrugged as his lips stretched out into a more prominent smile. He could understand that Natalie aimed to either offend him or even to just get him to shut up, but it wasn't really working on him. He wasn't easily annoyed or offended, so for every hateful comment she had, he had an obnoxious or flirtatious one ready to counter it. "Ah c'mon you know I'm positively adorable." Cam propped his face up on his hands, giving her the sweetest smile he could manage. Which was pretty sweet, as anyone could tell from looking at it.
"I'll try not to, because if I did, I think you'd personally aim the vomit right at me." He wrinkled his nose, disgusted even by the image in his head. That would just be gross. Not to mention the shirt he was wearing was one of his favorites, and he could never think of wearing it again if she threw up on it. "Oh would you look at that," A smile a mile long snuck it's way onto Cameron's face as he looked at Natalie only to see her face turning a bright red. The slightest tint of red crept his way onto his own face, but it was much less noticeable than the red on Natalie's face. A scowl soon accompanied the red though, making Cam briefly wonder if her flushed color was from anger. But no, his mind was already made up. Her blush was not anger related, or at least that's what he decided he was going to himself.
The son of Aphrodite gave a small nod, scuffing the dirt with his shoe. She was entitled to time to think about whether or not she wanted to go. A quest was a big deal after all, and it was probably even more to think about for her that he was going to be on the quest. To her, he was a nuisance so it was understandable if she didn't want to spend any length of time with him. Oh yeah, and there was also the possibility that she could die on this quest. But really, who liked to think about that? Certainly not him, because he was wincing at that very thought right now.
"Always good to know you don't want me to die." While it was a silly thing to smile about, her saying yes, Cam couldn't seem to stop beaming. He certainly didn't want to go on this quest, but he'd picked two people out who he knew would at least be very good company. Well...maybe. They probably wouldn't enjoy each other's company that much which meant they probably wouldn't make good company to him either since they'd be complaining about each other and fighting with each other. Ah, Cameron could picture the fun times already. "But I quite liked being called Prince Charming..Oh well," He shrugged, smiling right back at her. That was probably the first time he'd ever actually seen her fully smile without trying to hide it. "Wouldn't dream of it," Cameron backed away from the cabin, ready to take his leave now that Natalie was on board. "Oh and um, though we may be getting along..I invited one of my sisters on this thing as well..Surprise!" Cam threw his arms up in the air a little. "You're reallllly going to hate her." He shrugged with a fairly bemused smile as he started to back farther away before she could smack him over the head.

It took all of Natalie’s self control to not punch Cameron in his face. He got under her skin and made her so angry about every joke or move her made. And yet, Natalie kind of liked the feeling of this anger. It wasn’t fully hatred. Natalie hated quite a few people in her day and this wasn’t the same kind of anger. It was confusing that’s what it all boiled down to. She stood there with all of her Ares attitude out for full display. To be honest she was excited about getting to go on a quest with this boy. Maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as her imagination led her to believe.
Natalie rolled her eyes, “I think the jury is still out on that one.” Although all signs pointed to convicting him guilty on all charges of being adorable. Of course Natalie wouldn’t admit that to anyone and she hardly wanted to admit it to herself. She smirked slightly though at his next comment. “You’re not as dumb as you look. That’s always a good sign. Maybe this quest won’t be hopeless after all.” She shrugged. Her tone was light and almost bordering on playful. However any pleasant expression in her eyes or on her face dropped as Cameron clearly caught onto her blushing. She scowled at him wishing to the Gods that the moment would end. But his further smiling made it all worse. Now it was mix between embarrassment and frustration.
“Shut up!” She barked turning her head away slightly and avoiding eye contact. “I’d zip it if you valued your existence on this Earth.” Her father would be cross with her is he could see her right now. Then again Ares was a God which meant he was capable of watching, not that he would want to. Still it was pathetic the way the daughter of Ares was getting all flustered around an Aphrodite boy. Natalie prayed to the Gods that her siblings weren’t watching.
“I may be a daughter of Ares but I don’t exactly wish death upon other demigods. Maybe I’d like to beat a few Aphrodite faces in but it doesn’t mean I want them to go rot in the Underworld. I’m not that heartless.” Natalie said rather coldly. Being a child of Ares automatically gave you a bad reputation around camp. And while her brother Ryan probably wished death upon the others at camp it didn’t mean Natalie did. She was actually extremely nice for a daughter of Ares and got a long with most people at camp. It was the Aphrodite cabin she had problems with. And while she was kind and flirtatious to many she was cold and scornful to anyone whose mother was the Goddess of love.
Natalie was really starting to think that she could get along with this son of Aphrodite though. This quest wasn’t going to be such a bad thing after all, not if it meant spending time with Cameron. But all of these idealistic dreams Natalie suddenly had flashing through her mind came crashing down. Like someone had shocked her with one of Zeus’s bolts. He was bringing one of his sisters? He would have to put up with two people from Aphrodite. Cameron she was getting used to the idea of spending time with him but another one? Insanity! Natalie clenched her fists.
“What?” She practically growled. “Great now I have to protect two useless kids of Aphrodite. Whatever, it is what it is. Your quest your rules I suppose.” Natalie already said she was going to help Cameron and Natalie didn’t go back on promises. She was loyal and even though Cameron had thrown this curve ball her way Natalie would have to suck it up and try not to kill the little spoiled princess, oh and Cameron’s sister.

It would have appeared that luck was on his side today, because Natalie had yet to physically harm him, and she'd actually said yes to this quest. He figured it was about time for the world to favor him too. There were the normal difficulties that every demigod had, then there was his little sister's death, Delia's leaving him, and so on and so forth. It felt like every time he recovered from one thing, another unfortunate incident came around and knocked him back down. In fact, something bad should've been happening to him any day now.
"Must be a straight, all guy jury then," Cameron mused, positive that if the jury had been compiled of girls then he would've been convicted guilty as soon as the issue came up. He tried not to be so cocky, but there was no denying that he was good looking. "I try to act smart every once in a while, you know just to mix it up a little." People usually were pretty surprised when anything even remotely intelligent came out of his mouth. It almost amused him that people were so prepared to stereotype him. "Don't go getting too optimistic on me, love. I might not be able to recognize you if you do." He teased her, pleasantly surprised that her tone of voice had lightened up. Her more light-hearted moments were a rare occurrence, so he thoroughly enjoyed every second of the nice her. Then again, thinking about it, he liked her just as much as when she was insulting and yelling at him.
"You should know that your threats are highly ineffective..." Cam took a step towards the girl, lowering his voice. He had no doubt that, if they wanted to, Natalie's half-siblings could probably listen in on their whole conversation. And he didn't want to give them another reason to mock her after the pillow incident. "Because, coming from you, death threats are actually pretty hot." He whispered, adding a wink to the end of his sentence just to get under her skin again.
"I didn't say you were heartless," He raised his hands in a defensive gesture. "It was just a joke, Nat. Sorry if I offended you," Cameron apologized, sensing that he'd stepped on some toes there. He'd thought that had been clear, but either Natalie wasn't a big fan of jokes, or she was really sensitive to being judged too. The Ares kids were almost as likely to be judged as the Aphrodite kids were around here, just in a different way. Natalie hadn't really been proving the Ares stereotype wrong, but Cameron had caught onto those small details that showed that maybe she was different. Just not around him it seemed.
"Whoa, down girl." He chuckled quietly in amusement. Probably not his best idea considering her hands were balled up into fists and he was still within striking range. His good looks were not going to save him from the temper of this one girl. "Let me just say, I'm not completely useless." Cameron informed her. And it was true. He didn't know why everyone just assumed that Aphrodite kids couldn't fight. All he ever did anymore was practice, and...hit on Natalie. So he was almost as good as the Ares kids at fighting, and he was plenty skilled at flirting with Natalie. "And while it's a good thing to follow the rules..I certainly don't, and you don't strike me as the type to follow them either."

Natalie was usually good about not letting her temper get away with her but Aphrodite kids always seemed to bring out the worst in her. She was hating this Aphrodite more and more by the minute, yet she was still agreeing to help with his quest. Every charming smile that pulled at his lips made Natalie’s skin tighten. She cracked her knuckles still glaring at him. “Don’t call me love. I am not your love and I never will be.”
And despite that statement the moment Cameron stepped toward her Natalie felt her heart pick up. When she noticed she felt stupid and hoped she wasn’t blushing. Natalie’s fists were still clenched as Cameron lowered his voice to a whisper. Feeling foolish for even thinking that she may like him, Natalie took a swing at Cameron’s head for the hot comment. “They’re not threats Pretty Boy, they are promises! Get over yourself for a change.”
She fixed her hair and glanced back at the cabin door. She could slight rustling; her brothers and sisters were probably eaves dropping on them. She would go for them next. She heaved a sigh as Cameron apologized. If she was going to help him on his quest she was going to have to get her temper under control around him. Natalie couldn’t help it though; he made her so angry with everything he said. She did her best in the beginning to treat him like every other guy and openly flirt and tease but Cameron was different. It wasn’t just because he was a son of Aphrodite either, there was some other reason that Natalie refused to admit or give in to. She snorted at the idea that he could offend her. She didn’t say anything though in response not even a thank you.
Natalie arched her brow at Cameron, “Only partially useless then. Good to know.” she said with sarcasm thick in her voice. If there were two of them coming along for the ride Natalie knew she was their best bet for staying alive. Her pride and ego were having a field day with all of this. Natalie figured she was the best fighter of the three and the only one who would last in any kind of fight with a monster. She would have to be the brute force, and possibly the brains if Cameron was inviting his sister. Sure Cameron had charm, looks....good looks. Natalie dismissed that thought immediately. Regardless of Cameron’s charm and his sister’s bubbling beauty they would need someone who actually knew what they were doing. Natalie had never been on a quest before but she knew her way around a sword and was not unfamiliar with battle scenarios.
She sighed and folded her arms across her chest her mood switching back to semi-relaxed again. Natalie gave Cameron a quick tiny smile and shrugged her shoulders. “Rules tend to get in the way of the fun stuff.” she replied with a bit of playfulness to her voice. “So, Mr. Quest Man I think we’re done here. Let me know when you’re ready to head off. Hopefully you have a plan under those luscious locks of yours. I’m not dying because you fail to have a brain.” She turned her back on Cameron and walked back to the door of the cabin. Upon opening it a pile of bodies tumbled forward. Her siblings had been listening. She glared at them and quickly looked over to Cameron clearly blushing this time before she used her siblings as a door mat and climbed her way back into the cabin.
