my debut is comin' soon you already know what i'm gonna do got my time on a dotted line but you show up uninvited
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A few sets of clothing? Check. Two daggers and a cutlass? Check. Her special hairpin throwing knives? Check. Food and money? Check. Boating manual? Check. Fake I.D and passport? Check. Anxiety and excitement all bottled up in her head? Check. Half-empty bottle of ginger ale? Check. Wait, what?
Avery Reynolds pulled out the apparently expired half-empty bottle of ginger ale from her bag, wondering where the hell she'd managed to find it. And why she'd even keep a bottle of ginger ale anywhere hear her things, anyway. She hated the stuff. It was probably one of her siblings, or one of the new campers who hadn't been claimed yet. Completely unbothered by this find, she tossed it out the window and heard some random camper shout in disdain. Avery didn't even bother in replying, she just continued going through her things to make sure she hadn't thrown anything else completely random and unneeded inside. She rummaged through the few belongings that actually belonged to her and stuffed one or two more things into her back pack that she was taking with her on this quest.
A quest. Avery paused for a moment to let that sink in. She was really leaving camp on a quest for the first time in all her eight years at camp. Granted, she was going on with probably the grumpiest kid on the face of the planet, and she didn't even know the other shrimp going with them, and she had no idea what she was getting herself into, but it was still a quest. After all, it wasn't very often that anyone got to go on a quest... even though lately the Oracle chick seemed to be handing them out left and right. Oh, well. Nothing could really dampen her spirits right now.
She had about another hour or two before she had to meet Ryan at Fireworks Beach, so Avery figured she could probably spend the rest of her time just fooling around. After all, there wasn't much else to do. She was already packed, and quite honestly she had no idea what else could possibly be needed for a quest like this. Looked like she was really going to just wing it. And hope she didn't die, considering as that would really kind of suck. Avery plopped down on her bed (she was quite proud, actually, she was now one of the leading Hermes kids who had been given her own bed) and tossed her backpack onto the floor, and right onto someone's sleeping bag.
Avery laid back, enjoying the semi-quietness of the cabin. She'd said her goodbyes to the other Hermes cabin kids earlier this morning before most of them had gone off to some kind of archery practice. All she knew right now was that she was currently the only one in the cabin, and unbelievably enough Avery actually enjoyed the peace.
Of course, that peace was disrupted when she heard someone approaching the cabin (her bed was one of the closest to the door). "Come on in, there's not much to steal in here," she called out, closing her eyes and just laying there. Avery had always been the cool, carefree soul, and she had been for a very long time. "And if you're looking to blow the place up, please wait until after I've left."

Even I believe, I'm above, saving. and I'll never, let you see I am the broken I am the bruised I am the poor ones I have been used. It takes me falling to the ground To admit to, fully needing you Then When I'm breathing my last breath "Come and save me" I will cry to you 'Cause pride has not, let me say. [/size] I am the broken, I am the bruised, I am the poor ones, I have been used He had come back from the dead, helped drive off a nasty god, passed out. Probably got one of his brothers killed and gotten punched in the jaw by an over grown fish stick with a bad temper all in one day. Oh yeah, this was just how he wanted to spend his after life, Not. After spending some time with Annabeth after their fight with Percy, Luke thought it was best to bite the bullet and go to the Hermes cabin and see his siblings. A few came to his mind from when he went to camp, Travis and Conner. Avery, though she had been unclaimed and probably wouldn't be there. She had still been like a sister to him anyways, there had also been Cordelia. Though he didn't think about her much, the guilt of what happened to her, their sister was still tearing him up inside. There was allot of guilt that still tore him up inside, he would probably be lucky if he could walk into the cabin without getting punched again.
Part of him still didn't know how he had let it get this far to begin with. He had left the camp on bad terms yes, but he had thought that in the end he was making everything better. However by the time he realized he had been a fool, he was to lost to be saved and the only chance he thought he had was gone. He had begged Annabeth then to help him but she had turned him away, even though he had forgiven her for that and couldnt really blame her. The pain of that rejection would always be there, like a scar.
He walked past the cabins, most of the campers who where outside where staring at him. It was easy to tell who had been there the longest, they where the ones either looking like they had seen a ghost or just glaring at him. This was defiantly not going to be easy, being back. As he neared the Hermes cabin, it looked just as he remembered it accept maybe for a few extra scorch marks. There was one of his brothers, or maybe an unclaimed standing outside but he didnt recognize him. They're eyes met and it looked like the other was about to say something when a bottle of ginger ale flew out the window and hit him on the head. The other boy yelled and then stalked off mumbling.
When he reached the door and heard a familiar voice he couldn't help but smirk a little as he walked in to see Avery laying back in a bunk. Standing by the door, he leaned against the frame and chuckle." Oh trust me, there is a lot to steal. You just have to know all the hiding places...and everyone knows that the Aphrodite Cabin is the most flammable with all those hair products in there." He said with a small smirk, but then in turned into a small smile when her eyes opened and looked at him." Hey there Ave, have I missed much? I thought you would be out of here by now....Percy said.." Weren't all the unclaimed have been claimed by their parents?

my debut is comin' soon you already know what i'm gonna do got my time on a dotted line but you show up uninvited
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To say that hearing his voice was a surprise was probably one of the biggest understatements of the century. His voice, which was so familiar but alien at the same time. Upon hearing it, Avery's eyes shot open, and she sat up quicker than she probably should have, and upon seeing the young man that she'd thought had died, she shrieked. Ghosts were definitely not her thing - that was a kid of Hades or Thanatos that saw that kind of stuff. And as far as she was concerned, she had been claimed as a child of Hermes for a while now - ever since the battle against... well, technically the young man that was standing in the doorway to what had once been their cabin. There was no way... no way that Luke could be alive, breathing, and standing here before her like nothing had ever happened. This had to be a dream.
She backed away from him, but unfortunately her bed was only so big. Avery shrieked again when her hands, instead of finding mattress, found open air. She tumbled off her bed, hitting her head on some other kid's stuff. A string of curse words flew from her mouth as she held where her head had been hit. She had a quest in an hour - if she had a concussion, whoever was responsible for putting an image of her dead brother up was going to get it. Big time.
But when Avery, holding the back of her head, peeked at the doorway again, he was still there. "There is no way," she muttered, slowly and only using one hand, she pulled herself to her feet. "There is absolutely no freaking way that... Luke? Is that really you?"
She must have fallen asleep, because seeing Luke alive... well, it was too good to be true. It was probably ironic, her being the only one in camp who would actually be genuinely excited and happy to see Luke back from the dead, but honestly? Avery didn't give a shit as to who wanted her brother back or not. And the fact that she knew he was her brother now just made everything all the better. Back when they'd been in camp together, she was just a kid camping out in the Hermes cabin until she was claimed. She'd always felt at home there, and she knew that even if she was claimed as someone else's kid, that cabin wouldn't have felt like home like this one did, especially when Luke had been here.
But, alas, she was indeed a child of Hermes, as it had been declared so a few days after the big battle against Kronos. It was also probably ironic that she'd been claimed just as she'd been boasting about Luke's sacrifice (not that death was anything to celebrate, but the way he'd died had proved her right in the end, that he really was a good guy).
"But, you can't be here. I was there. I mean, not on Olympus but in New York - actually, I was getting my shoulder healed, but I mean... you died. You... you can't be my brother. Whoever the hell you are, you're going a good job of scaring me, so you can go wash the makeup off or stop whatever trick you're trying to pull. It's not cool anymore - you know how I feel about this kind of stuff." Avery shook her head, unable to believe the impossible. She didn't even remember that he'd asked about her being claimed.
