Looking around she could see smoke, fire and the smell of death rolling around her; and she wondered where she was. Her dark brown hair brushed her smudged face and her bangs stuck to the sweat on her forehead wishing she had had the time to figure out all the answers. There had been six other demi-gods with her but they seem to suddenly vanish when the lights surrounded her bring her hear. Suddenly she knew where she was. Olympus? How can this be? Sophia… she did not recognized the voice but she felt a chill down her spine as if something was coming. Before she could turn she felt her skin tremble like the numbing feeling one gets one’s foot falls asleep. Right during which the voice spoke again. It is time. She wanted to ask who ever had spoke what in the world they were talking about but the light blinded her and she blacked out.
Sophie awoke sitting straight up and looking around her cabin. It had to be about six to six-thirty in the morning. She could tell as some of her half-siblings where still sleeping, others where up but not to be seen around. She got up and got ready for the day, the dream still rushing around in her mind. That was the thing these days. Throughout the past couple months she had the strangest dreams like these. But this one had only came about three or four times since her trip back from Harper’s quest. Yeah that was memory she didn’t want to relive.
As she walked out of the Apollo cabin in a pair of jeans, a grey short-sleeve shirt and her black converse, she headed out side letting the cold morning air brush her skin. The sun would be up in about fifteen minutes but she made her way out into camp. Something though made her stop as she passed through the camp and she looked around. It seemed quiet but no one really woke up until seven. She got a feeling and followed it, curious. Her curiousness lead her to the top of half-blood hill. What lead her here she had no idea but she had a feeling she would soon find out.

There had been a lot of things going on recently that Zeus did not approve of. For instance there was some absurd prophecy going around that threatened to destroy the careful balance he had worked to build over the last couple of centuries. Further more gods were running rampant around the world and from what he had heard several of them had made stops at Camp Half Blood, something that wasn't exactly all right by Olympian standards. Zeus was aware of the draw that gods faced when it came to their children it was undeniable. He himself had broken the law a few times but normally when it happened gods at least tried to be sneaky. One god in particular hadn't been though. He had actually been dumb enough to visit someone else's kid, not that it mattered but he had been noticed and that was never good.
Zeus would never deny that he loved most of his children. Some of them proved to be much more of a hassle then they were worth. Ares for instance had always been a task, not to mention his off spring proved to be a pain on more occasions then one. Zeus was sure the only reason he loved Apollo was because he was balanced out by Artemis. The pair of them really were a package deal. Despite popular belief the sun god really was a handful. For some reason he believed that certain rules didn't apply to him and an end needed to be put to that quickly. Unfortunately Zeus hadn't seen him in days and so his options were limited. Then it hit him, if Apollo wanted to break the rules then he would deliver the warning to the easiest messenger.
"Hello Sophia," he said calmly. Clearly getting the young girl to come to the tree wasn't a very hard task. Then again with enough effort it wasn't hard to get any demi-god to do what was necessary. Zeus couldn't recall a time he had stood on the hill, at least not with Thalia's tree there. Times were changing that was for sure and everyone had to be ready. Which was exactly why Zeus needed to know where everyone stood and all that started with locating his son.

She wished she knew what she was doing up here. Usually Sophia knew why she was, either about to sneak out of camp for a few hours, or just to daydream a bit; but she knew it was not that way today. She felt the gentle breeze brush her hair against her skin and looked to the sky. She sun seemed to be fighting with the clouds, once again and she could tell something, here, was about to happen shortly. A visit perhaps from someone who she would never expect a visit from. Tucking a piece of loose hair behind her ear, Sophie just then, a voice sounded from behind her.
Hello Sophia,
Sophie froze for a minute and did not turn around for awhile either. In away she did not recognize the voice; but the last time she heard it was in last night’s dream. She did feel a presence of great power near her was not sure of what nor who it was. The daughter of Apollo closed her eyes for a second then turned seeing one she did not recognized at first until she saw his full face. She remembered last year when there was a small trip to Olympus during the Winter Solace. She got down on one knee and bowed realizing who it was. Lord Zeus, Lord of the sky. He looked different but he sounded more the same. “Lord Zeus…what are you doing here…I’m sorry you weren’t meeting someone here where you?” she asked nervously. She was really hoping she was not going to get spite or something.
The eldest daughter of Apollo felt off now. Something made her come here, but this was the first time she did not know what. And seeing the Lord of the Skys here did not help her nerves one bit. Sophie was not sure if she should look him in the eyes or now.

Admittedly Zeus wasn’t exactly accustomed to the rambling. Most of the time when he conversed with people it was either a power struggle or a threat to over throw him. There were some of them that treated him with the respect he deserved, truthfully those were his favorites. He didn’t understand why people always felt the need to be at each others throats these days. He worked so hard to create harmony and balance and everyone was throwing it away. As much as Apollo drove him insane he had to admit he was a fan of the sun gods children. They never started any trouble and he was thankful for that, even if they caused an imbalance from time to time.
“I am meeting someone here Sophia, you,” he said in a tone that was as calm as the summer sky. Considering the reason he had called her there he thought the whole mood of this conversation was rather deceiving. Sophia was going to be charged with a rather important message, one that normally would have went through Hermes on any other occasion. This delivery would be more effective though. Hermes was indifferent when it came to things like this. He broke the rules as much as anyone - usually more - and so he tended to let messages like these slide. Sophia on the other hand, he got the feeling she would do what ever was in her power to get the message across. Zeus particularly liked dependable people, they made things easier. For a moment he allowed himself to vaguely care about the young demi-god. If he remembered correctly there had been some mention of a quest somewhere along the way. Even though they weren’t allowed to interfere some gods liked to keep tabs on who may or may not cross their paths. It had never been a problem for Zeus but there wasn’t much he didn’t hear, at least not when it came to the camp. For reasons unbeknownst to even him made sure to always know the condition of the demi-gods.
He contemplated for a moment what the best way was to present this to her. It wasn’t that he thought she would decline - she didn’t strike him as the type - it was simply that he didn’t want to make this harder than it need be. “There is a certain message I need delivered and I have decided you are the most suited to do so.” Zeus didn’t really ask anyone for anything he simply told them. This was a different sort of situation humans were fragile and children of Apollo were different to say the least. Regardless, he would get what he needed out of her no matter what it took to do it. Zeus was resolved to walk away from this meeting with his mission accomplished.

Out of everything that has happened in her life; out of all the conversations and meetings that she had had with gods and goddess (Apollo, Artimus, Aphrodite, obviously Mr. D (who ran the camp) and possibly a couple others, not once had she ever had a word with the Lord of the skys, at least alone by herself like this. Sophie hoped that she was not in trouble or anything of the wise. Then again, it was her and she never was in trouble. Was someone else in trouble though? Harper? Adonia? And if they where why was Zues here to tell her? Obviously Hermes or someone else would have delivered the message, so something had to be up. She just didn’t know what had brought her here until he had spoke again.
Sophia. Yes it was true that she did not like being called that of her real name, and preferred Sophie over it, but this was Zeus, king of the gods! But the moment he had spoke she could feel herself freeze again. Her? Why her? What did she do? What will she do? Why her? The demi-god did not really have any special abilities about her, minus archery, which she was pretty decent at. Thanks dad. Sophie had to remember to breath. The last time or some other times when the gods or goddess came down to speak with a demi-god alone, it was never a good thing. They always seemed to ask a favor that either had to be done or be turned into something and or spited. As long as she did not have to leave camp she was good. She had just gotten back from her younger sister’s quest, still quiet sore from what had happened. Sophie could not help herself by stopping herself from looking up at him. Her dark green eyes full of curiosity, and she used to hide the small fear behind them. *Me?* she thought not able to actually speak the word.
A message? Was that not Hermes job? Not that she would object to do something a god or goddess would ask, but still. What took her off guard was the last thing he had said. I have decided you are the most suited to do so. Again, her? She hoped that her confusion did not show to much on her face and I her eyes. She waited before he was done before speaking, “Excuse me my Lord…but why me?” she could not help but ask. “What message could I pass on, that would be so keen that you tell me it yourself?” she asked again a little nervously. Usually she was not this way, but this was Zeus after all.

Demi-gods were turning into exceedingly strange creatures these days. Zeus found himself whatever happened to willing assistants. In the old days if he came down from Olympus and asked someone to deliver a message they just said yes. Even if it was only out of fear it at least kept him from having to explain himself. These days everyone was all about themselves completely arrogant or completely unconfident. This was precisely why he preferred the old days. With new technology and more demigods came even more insecurity. In fact Zeus figured by the time he turned five million the era of demi-god heroes would be over. Then again the more he thought about it at the rate they were going they would probably just kill themselves off. Zeus wasn’t too happy about that but a long time ago they had come up with the ridiculous resolution not to interfere. After a couple thousand years of adhering to it most of them decided that it was a completely useless rule. Ever since then gods and goddesses had been breaking it left and right. They all though he didn’t know but there wasn’t much that happened he didn’t know about.
He liked the ‘ lord Zeus’ touch but that still didn’t make up for the fact that he had to explain himself. Zeus really hated having to reason with people. Ideally the conversation would have gone more like, ‘yes lord Zeus, whatever you say.’ That was not the case though and unfortunately he had to just deal with it. “I have come to learn that some messages are best received from the ones you love.” Even saying it felt awkward to Zeus. It was far too soft for the Lord of the Sky. The word love was what had really done him in. The problem was if he said ‘the ones they care about’ it would have come across to weakly. Zeus needed Sophia to know he meant business. In order to do that he had to come down to her level, not that he was ever a fan of coming down to help out anyone. This was a sacrifice he had to make though, especially if he expected to get an answer anytime soon.
Zeus recomposed himself for a moment, debating about the best way to have her relay this message. Things were looking a little suspicious lately and Zeus needed to know where everyone stood on the matter. Normally Apollo was reliable, not that he wasn’t anymore, but as of late he had gotten rebellious. Something that was exceedingly uncommon for the young god. Zeus needed to be sure of where he stood. “The sun has been setting early these days, be sure to let him know that. Also, remind him that certain rules should be broken with more care.” Zeus wasn’t exactly the cryptic type as was clear by his message to Apollo. He couldn’t reveal his questioning motive too Sophie though that was far to dangerous.

Sophie should not have asked him to explained himself for asking why her. It was not her place, but it sort of just slipped out. He was King of all the gods, so he should not have to be question. It was just strange, because it was her and he was asking her to deliver the message. Surly this had nothing to do with the dream that she had had the previous night. It did not feel like it was. She was not sure if she should stand up or not, but out of respect she stayed where she was. Her ADHD mind wondered back to that dream of last night. So what did that have to do with anything? Nothing made since. Then again nothing made since period in the life of a demi-god. Sophie should just stick to what she knew here and now, and maybe that would save her a little trouble. Just to stay quiet, listen to what the gods/ goddess, ect. told her and she would be good and no one would have to die or anything bad would happen. Yeah, right. Life was NOT that easy, especially hers, who would be around camp, until they kicked her out, or until she decided to leave for good aka: college this fall. If she survived that long.
As the Lord of the Sky spoke, what he said confused her, but she refused to let it show on her face. Then again, what didn’t confuse her anymore these days? The ones she loved? Who? Harper and her other siblings? At the top of her head she could not think of a single person who he could be talking about. Sophie finally looked up at the god and simply nodded, especially when he spoke the way he did. “Of course Lord Zeus, anything you say?” She did not mean for it to come out as a question and hoped he did not mind this small thing. She continued to remain quiet until he had told her the message. She was still trying to figure out though who the message was intended to.
As she listened, she thought he was speaking in a riddle like Rachel gives once in awhile to some “lucky” demi-god. Remind him that certain rules should be broken with care? The sun setting…It took her moment but she finally caught on with it. Apollo? She was suppose to deliver the message to…him? Yeah…this was not going to be fun nor easy. The last time Sophie had talked to her father was right before Harper’s quest, and not even then had he stuck around long enough. More like three or four minutes at the most. Not only that, he had come to speak to Harper and not her. The eldest daughter of the sun god tried not to look put out by this thought. It was not like he would show up when she called out to him now. So what made Zeus think Apollo would listen to her now? And didn’t they live up on Mont Olympus, where they see each other every once in awhile? Sighing silently to herself, Sophie glanced down for a moment. The one thing she did not want to do was face and talk to her father.
Not with everything going threw her head lately. She did remember something though about what he just said, I have come to learn that some messages are best received from the ones you love. Was he meaning Apollo? Surly not, that was an impossible thought. Sure the god had to put up with his daughter but never surly loved her. With that thought, Sophia then remembered something in the back of her head, a voice so clear saying the most simple words possible. Just because you don’t see me, and just because I’m not around, doesn’t mean I care about you any less. She nodded to herself. Yeah okay sir, she would give it a try.

That was more like it Zeus found himself thinking. Mortals were naturally curious people who always needed encouragement and frankly he was not willing to give it. The only thing that mattered to him was that Apollo received him message loud and clear. He didn't have time to be worrying about the people who had always fought on his side. He had bigger fish to fry. Rumors had been flying around the camp about those dopes Phobos and Deimos and they needed to be dealt with quickly. The last thing he needed was the thorn in his side grandsons running around causing havoc. Honestly, the spawn of Ares were high on his list of least favorite relatives after his brothers. They always seemed to find a way to make things more complicated then they should of been. Running around and disrupting the balance he worked so hard to create was not something that Zeus was grateful for.
As much as he wanted to believe that anyone was willing to deliver a message without payment he knew better then that. Greed had gotten hold of mortals lately and it bothered him even more because it was his brother's domain. None the less he wasn't about to be rude and deny this demi-god payment for her assistance. Just because the job hadn't been done yet didn't mean it wouldn't. Zeus was being forced to have faith in a mortal - something he didn't do often - but he was willing to give her a chance. Her father gave him reason enough to trust her, or at least he hoped that was the case. "For your troubles," he said handing Sophie a few silver tipped arrows. The tips of the arrows danced with electrical sparks every now and again and he hoped she was smart enough to know to be careful with them. If not, well then it really wasn't his problem.
The look on her face told Zeus exactly what was running through her head. She was thinking about her father and that was very good news. If she was thinking about him, eventually she would unknowingly call for him. The best part was, he would probably come because for some reason he got it in his head he was going to be a better father. It would never happen but if he was pathetic enough to be hopeful Zeus wasn't about to waste his time convincing the good otherwise. His children were his problem, Zeus couldn't be bothered. "It's best for everyone involved if you don't mention this to anyone." It seemed more like a plea which was uncharacteristic for the god, but clearly he had to be gentle with this one.

Out of all the times and places she could have been led to, for all the reasons, she wondered why now. If not sooner then later, she presumed. It was just weird how this turned around to where she had to face Apollo; someone she rarely faced and wanted to face. Sophie didn’t know much about him expect for the legions and myths. But myths where myths. She had a feeling that something else had to be in the air; minus this, she guessed. Anyway she was able to help anyone, even if it was meaning to face someone she did not expect to do so in a long time, she was willing to do it. Sophie did feel weird that Hermes was not going to deliver this message. What made her so special? Oh well just another item to add on her list of what to worry about.
For your troubles,
All honestly, Sophie was not really expecting anything. She didn’t even like receiving gifts for her birthday or anything like that. Even though she was against arguing against the god, and was about to protest, he already handed her the gift of a few silver tipped arrows. She stuidied them, only have to read about such the rumors arrows such as these. “Th..thank you Lord Zeus,” was all she could replied still slightly shocked with the gift and bowed in thanks to him as well.
Looking up at him again she nodded. “You have my word,” she replied. She was well on promises; and would keep this to herself. Surly Apollo would know, once she spoke what she was suppose to.
She hoped everything would go quickly and smoothly between her and Apollo. With her mind sat she quickly turned her attention back to the Lord of the Sky. Waiting for him to either leave, or say something else.
