Soteria didn't really know what she was doing. At all. To be honest she didn't even know how to play this game. She supposed it was a good thing the blue team had left her in defense of the flag since she would have surely gotten lost if she had been sent off into the woods. All she knew was this game was dangerous. She had seen people running around with swords for goodness sakes! How on earth could the camp councilors allow this? Soteria agreed that training was very helpful especially for the times they were living in. After all, Ares’ and Aphrodite’s children were running around trying to overthrow her father and the rest of the major Olympian gods. However, there was a fine line between training and recklessness, and this game seemed to really toe the line. Thankfully she didn’t have to wander off and fight people. If she had Soteria was largely sure that she would have been stabbed, or fallen off a rock, or any other form of painful, ironic death. She doubted her father would be very sympathetic if she were to die before her time. Growing more and more creeped out standing in the too quiet woods Soteria decided she was due for some company. Pulling a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out of her back pocket she walked over to a group of rocks and concentrated.
“Hello young one.”
“Hello Rodger,” Soteria smiled and handed the spirit her sandwich. He took a few bites and seemed to grow more and more corporeal.
“Just a suggestion my dear,” he mumbled through gooey bites. “But you might consider summoning more than me to help you defend your fabric scrap.”
“I only could only bring one sandwich without smushing it in my pocket.” Rodger nodded in a way only the long dead could, full of wisdom and understanding.
“In that case, you might….turn up the heat.” Soteria looked at him and immediately thought of the way she defended herself at the Lotus Casino. Standing from the rock she had been sitting on she concentrated on the ground surrounding the flag. Slowly vibrations started to build up, getting faster and faster, until eventually the ground split open in a circle around the flag, spitting out hellfire. The only way to get to Soteria and Rodger was a small trail right in front of her where the ground hadn’t cracked. Feeling a bit woozy Soteria flopped down again next to Rodger.
“There. That should make this a bit easier to defend,” Soteria panted. “At least now we don’t have to worry about being attacked from behind or surrounded.” Rodger just nodded and went back to his sandwich.
