Eris
Name::Eris, Discordia, Goddess of Strife, Discord, and Chaos
Nickname:: N/A
Age::Immortal
Gender::Female
Species:: Minor Goddess
Olympian Parent:: Zeus & Hera
Years at Camp:: 500--but that was back when she was sent there for punishment. She hasn't been back at camp in a few thousand years.
Claimed:: N/A
Celebrity Claim: Tabrett Bethell
Looks:: Eris stands about 5’5. She has blonde hair that she usually keeps parted down the middle and is cut at the shoulders very bluntly. She has startlingly bright blue eyes that blaze when her ego and pride rises, and very sharp features about her, which become even more distinct when she gives her slight yet sinister smile. She is quite muscular though still keeps her figure and has a medium figure. She usually wears red leather covering her entire body, save for her neck and head. She usually talks in a slightly older dialect, though at times her speech will take on a more modern ring.
Personality:: Eris thrives upon the chaos surrounding others, no matter where their loyalties lie. She is extremely proud of her chaotic trademark of power. She can create strife and chaos, but only uses in small amounts. She then revels as it grows like ripples in a pond or like dominoes falling down. One little bit of discord leading to another leading to another as it continues to grow. She doesn’t really have a fear, only extremely annoyed when her sister comes in and disrupts the fun.
One of Eris’s favorite pastimes is toying with the emotions of mortals, especially men. Even demigod or god men work for her amusement and pleasure. When she’s not destroying things or watching everything fall into discord, she usually sits around and ponders her next great ploy to watch things fall apart. Despite her love to see everything in ruins, she wouldn’t completely destroy the world; once everything is ruined there is nowhere to go from there. She’s smart enough to let things rebuild greater than they once were before tearing it all down once again.
Family:: Olympian Gods and Demi-Gods**Daughter of Zeus and Hera
History::Eris was the daughter of Zeus and Hera, having a sister as well, Harmonia the Goddess of harmony. She reveled in toying with the mortals of the world, simply pulling one thread and watching everything fall into glorious chaos. She reveled in the world’s strife, haunting battlefields and soaking in the remnants of her wonderful work. In the early wars with the remaining Titans, Eris sided with the Olympians, knowing if the Titans won this time around, the world would be in ruins, but she would have no benefit.
Eris’s most famous and favorite bout of work consisted of the beginnings and endurings of the Trojan War. During the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, soon to be Parents of Achilles, Eris came bearing a prize of a golden apple. In her disappointment of being the only devine being not invited to the wedding; Eris earned her revenge of being titled the instigator of the Trojan War. She threw the golden apple of Chaos with the words inscribed “to the fairest” upon it, in which the three goddesses Hera, Aphorodite and Athena squabbled, over eventually leading to the choice of Paris having to choose the fairest. The end result was Paris stealing a bride who was the most beautiful woman in the world, leading to the Trojan War. The stunt earned her a good number of years monitoring Camp Half-Blood, something she never forgave Zeus for. However the story continued to be told throughout ages and eventually was pulled into modern popular culture and renovated into the famous tale of Sleeping Beauty.
Throughout the world, she continued to follow heroes, though invisibly, and made sure they had a great number of trials during their quests. After all, where was the sense of accomplishment or fun in anything without drama? Eris only cared about the latter effect of the distress in the situations she caused, though her favorite hero that she caused distress for continued to be Achilles. That was until a certain son of Poseidon came along and with the power of the prophecy could determine the fate of the Olympians.
During the rise of Kronos, Eris took no side to the war rising between the Titans and the Olympians. This kept her from outright defying both parties as well as soaking in the beauty of everything crumbling in the world. During those years, the one to watch and keep close to without anyone knowning was of course, Perseus Jackson. No matter where he was, he was in some sort of trouble, engaged in battle or some sort of strife was effecting himself and the others around him, especially during the hour when his rather close friend Annabeth was missing. That certainly made for an interesting twist—the Daughter of Athena and the Son of Poseidon. Certainly this would cause a rift considering the history of the parents.
Two years ago, after the defeat of Kronos and when Percy Jackson requested all Gods and Goddesses had to claim their children, Eris saw a golden opportunity for another epic and legendary war to thrive among the Divinities and the Heroes. Completely defying the words of Zeus and the rightful favor of the invincible hero, Eris blatantly stopped claiming her children. Because of what she had seen of Percy’s loyalty and rather stubborn-headed determination, Eris knew that the Hero would not be happy with unclaimed Demi-Gods and therefore strike out a complaint on Olympus. To help matters, she saw other stirrings in the making, other “lesser” Gods and Goddesses helping to bring upon Chaos. It seemed another war would soon be on their hands that would lead to glorious strife, dispair, and utter discord in the world.
Name/Nickname:: Sam
Roleplaying Experience:: A lot, a good few years. I used to belong to this site as Eris, Aphrodite, Sam, and DJ
Sample RP:: Eris glowered from the shadows, watching the joyful celebration that she had not been invited to. What fools these mortals were to leave her of all divinities out of this wedding. Idiots, not knowing the true power she held, even as a lesser Goddess. She would show the whole world her power. Gods, heroes, and mortals would suffer her wrath for their foolish mistake. Silently she unwrapped the bundle in her hands from under the violet silk cloth, revealing a golden apple with one phrase inscribed in Greek:
‘For the fairest’
She ran the cold delicate object in her hands. She could practically see everything unfolding before her in seconds. She knew the power of the small object, and everything that it would cause. Well, not exactly, for not a soul knew exactly how fate would play out. There was always an interesting twist, a double meaning behind all prophecies made and every great accomplishment. She did not know how this would play out, but it was going to be glorious to watch from her end--it would result with strife building, possibly even into a great war. That would teach any foolish mortal to remember to acknowledge her presence.
With a small smirk curling her lips and a knowing glint in her eye, Eris stepped out from the shadows and entered the side of the party. Before anyone could react at her presence, she threw the apple into the center of the room before disappearing once again. Then she watched from the shadows as the women squabbled over the delicacy and completely ruined the marriage celebration. Eris’s smirk grew wider. “So begins the revenge.” Without another word she turned and disappeared from the shadows, allowing the chaos to increase and unfold on its own.
