Avery sighed, kicking a rock that laid in front of her as she walked through the forest that laid around Camp Half-Blood. Her wrist was carefully strapped to her chest, and after what felt like the thousandth checkup with the healers in the infirmary, it looked as though she'd get out of this damned sling before long. Within a few days, it sounded like, which was a blessing in itself. She'd been stuck wandering around for the past few weeks doing nothing but sleeping (or trying to, at least) and throwing knives with her non-throwing hand, which wasn't working out so well. And while nobody laughed or looked at her strange, Avery still hated it. Hell, she was beginning to find that she hated a lot of things.
For example, she hated how she was beginning to feel about a certain son of Thanatos who'd taken it upon himself to be like her own personal man nurse and companion. He made her heart flutter every single time she was around him, and he was making her think thoughts she hadn't thought in a very long time. Granted, they weren't bad thoughts, but they were still thoughts that were making her completely rethink life, and Avery didn't like doing that. In fact, she rather hated it.
But, then again, when had she ever not hated anything? While most of the time she was much better at concealing it, anyone who looked at her now could tell she was agitated in some way. Pacing on a constant basis, the dark rings under her eyes, and the way she constantly lganced around as if she was waiting for the world to come crashing down around her. Which, if the midget god had been right on Ryan's quest, a war was coming and so the chances of her world being pulled down around here were actually fairly high at this point. Avery couldn't stand the thought of losing Camp Half-Blood, the only home she had. Fear thudded in her heart at the thought of losing her cabin, her refuge. She'd lived here for eleven years, never having left once except in extreme cases like the Battle of Manhattan and Ryan's quest. All she could ever want was here, though of late everything seemed to be pulling apart before her very eyes.
"Crap." Suddenly, Avery found herself in a clearing and she blinked. She had been walking farther than she thought. She definitely didn't like the thought of running into a monster or something of the like out here, so she turned around to head back. She really needed to start paying attention to where she was going.
