*I'll watch the night turn light-blue But it's not the same without you~ Pour me a heavy dose of A T M O S P H E R E* Nico stepped through the shadows and on to the soil that he thought he wouldn’t step on until he had to sneak away from his dad. He couldn’t believe when his dad said he could actually come up here for the summer. A small smirk danced across his lips as he thought about all the people that didn’t know him but would soon. He was the only son of Hades’. People would probably ask him about his powers, or would even cringe in fear at him since he did radiate fear and death. He rolled his eyes at that. Thank you so much for that dad. He wavered for a second before regaining his balance. Shadow traveling that far of a distance still took a toll on his young body. But his other powers were getting easier to use. He wondered if he would ever be not tired from shadow travel in his whole life.
Nico cleared his throat before starting to walk down the hill. He could slightly see some campers and cabins. He didn’t really care for playing any games or training right now. Part of him really wanted to see how Percy and Annabeth were doing. He hasn’t seen both of them in forever. Last he had heard they were doing great in their relationship. But when his stomach growled a little bit he remembered that he hadn’t eaten anything since last night’s dinner. Right now it was just past lunch. He shrugged his backpack off of his shoulder and scrounged through it. ”There has to be something in here. He said out loud.
His fingers finally found a candy bar. He looked at it wondering how long it had been in there for. His eyebrows furrowed in thought until her remembered that last week his dad had him go up top for some type of special food. Nico had had enough money to buy a candy bar at the time so he had. But he forgot about it until just now. As he opened up the candy, he breathed in and could smell the chocolate. His mouth started to salivate slightly from the anticipation of eating the precious candy that would fill his stomach to some need.

Annabeth set the book down on the little end table in the main sitting room of the Big House. She was on break between lessons and Hand-To-Hand Combat didn’t start for an hour still, which was just fine by her. Even if she’d found lately that immersing herself in training and design work - or the occasional clay fight… long story - was the best way to escape the weighty doldrums that had taken over since her quest. But there were still other things to attend to. And besides, she hadn’t taken the time to sit down and talk with Chiron for too long. But he had had to leave to try to set right what was apparently a Hermes prank gone a little overboard, leaving her to poke around the Big House by herself. The attic was always an option. Now that the Oracle was walking around spattering paint on things and spouting both bits of useless babble and prophecies as well, the attic was not nearly as creepy as it was before, and only the home of the old artifacts from past quests since the start of Camp Half-Blood here in the states.
Second thought, maybe she would go check it out. There was a name she’d heard read on a little leaf of paper in a notebook here that sounded so familiar. It finally sunk in that she was pretty sure she’d seen it in the attic on a little tag, and she couldn’t exactly leave now without checking, right? So she abandoned the sitting room and made her way up the several sets of stairs to the attic.
It was still as dark and musty as ever, but at least the Oracle wasn’t sitting in the corner as if watching her anymore. She walked over to one of the tables, coughing into her sleeve at the dust. It took several minutes to find, but finally she found the shield, banged up almost beyond recognition, bearing the tag with the name she was looking for and the year 1986. Feeling accomplished and satisfied with figuring it out, she turned to leave when something caught her eye, nearly falling off the table as it was. Annabeth walked over and lifted a long scarf of the finest silk. It was like the last 6 years rushed past in a moment as she looked down at Aphrodite’s scarf, the one she and Percy and Grover had gotten from that water ride so long ago. She remembered snatching it from him and stashing it in her bag when he wasn’t looking. Everything had seemed so much more innocent then. Now it was just a mess.
Her mood a dozen times worse than it had been a few minutes ago, she dropped the scarf on the table and left the attic in a furious hurry. She didn’t need reminders of him right now. Not ever. The door of the Big House banged shut behind her, but she was already halfway down the stairs. That was when her eyes caught on something. Besides the pine tree and the dragon on the hill, it looked like there was a person standing there. Great, another new camper? This was not a good time to put on a happy face and rattle off all the features of the Camp for the one millionth time in her eleven years here. But there was no one else around. So she set off to meet the person.
It took a minute and a decent distance closed to recognize the dark-clad boy. He’d grown a lot since last she saw him. A smile came to her face as she approached. “Nico! Good to see you again. How have you been?”

Nico had just finished up his chocolate bar when he heard a familiar voice. He put away the wrapper before turning to Annabeth. He smiled when he saw her since it had been so long since he actually saw one of his friends from back when he first found out about everything. He had the urge to give the girl that had helped him that many years ago a hug but found that it would be very awkward. So he settled on holding out his hand for her to shake and he shuffled a few feet closer. ”Annabeth, how are you doing? It’s been forever.”
He shook her hand and retracted his own. He smiled a small smile before continuing on with what he was going to say. ”I’ve been pretty good. It was really boring down there so I wanted to come up for an actual summer of this camp. I’ve missed it too much. Plus all the people.” He looked down the hill where he now was at the camp. He seemed to be milling with a ton of people. At least a lot from the last time he had been here. Nico looked back to Annabeth. ”Where’s Percy? And how’s Tyson? And how is Chiron doing?” He had a bunch of questions that needed to be answered since he hadn’t talked to the world above his father’s domain in a long time. He had also heard his father talking about claiming some other kid as his own. This had confused Nico greatly. ”And what is this that I hear about there being another Hades’ kids besides me? When did they show up?” He looked at her as a brief flash of concern crossed his face. He wanted to see everyone in person but would rather find out everything right now rather than be running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Nico’s face flashed back to normal with a small hint of a sarcastic smile. It seemed that really the only people who didn’t get affected by the radiating fear and death thing were Annabeth, Percy, Tyson and Grover. Thinking of Grover a new light was brought back to his face. ”I almost forgot! How is Grover doing as well?” Not being able to stand his thoughts anymore he closed his eyes like the little kid he once was and gave Annabeth a quick hug. In that quick hug, he was able to say a small sentence. ”I’ve missed all of you guys so much. When he realized what he had done his face turned a bright red and he turned. He couldn’t believe he just hugged her. He felt so childish. After he gave a deep sigh he turned back around. ”Sorry about that, I lost control of my emotions for a second.” He tried to say with a completely calm demeanor. When he felt the red slip from his face he smiled an easy-going smile once again. ”Well, what are we still standing on this hill for? I need to see the camp and my cabin so that I can dispose of my bags.” He said gesturing to the floor with open palms. He had almost forgotten about the few bags that he was able to carry with him to Camp. It had been difficult shadow-traveling with them, but it had been done. Annabeth met him with a warm smile and shook his hand. If that was the greeting that was comfortable for him, she wasn’t about to challenge it. Nico was an unusual sort and best to just accept that sometimes. “It really has been ages. I’ve been alright. How about you?” Okay, so that was a complete lie, but oh well. She kept her smile up, and shrugged when he went on. “Yeah, no offense, but the Underworld doesn’t strike me as the most entertaining place. Glad you’ve decided to come join Camp for a while. I can guarantee you will get your fill of non-boredom here.” She followed his gaze to the Camp. Odd as it sounded, Nico being back actually made things seem brighter, ironically. He was a good friend and she really had missed him.
When he asked about Percy, though, her face darkened as she looked back to him. “You’re going to have to find him yourself, I’m afraid. I don’t keep tabs on him since he walked out on me. Tyson, on the other hand, is spending the summer in underwater forges last I heard. And Chiron is his usual self.” She was glad he was asking so many questions, really. It made it a lot easier to pass over the topic of Percy entirely. That wasn’t her favorite topic of late. “Yeah, this girl named Soteria. She just got here this summer though. And afraid I don’t know much about her. She’s not really around much.”
She laughed as he went on to ask more questions. He reminded her of when she’d first met him, when he was younger and curious about everything. It was nice to see that that part of him was still in there somewhere. “Last I heard from him, he’s doing really well.” She might have went on if he hadn’t abruptly hugged her. “Missed you too, Nico. Hope you stay for a while.” When he pulled away, red as a beet, and had to gather himself again before even facing her, she did her absolute best not to laugh. Then she pulled him into another hug whether he liked it or not. “No need to apologize at all.” With a smile, she let go and took a step back. “And you’re right! What am I thinking, making you stand around here. Let’s get going.” With that, she picked up his backpack and led the way into Camp.

( I D O I T E V E R Y T I M E Y O U R E K I L L I N G M E N O W )
&& i won't be D E N I E D by you / / the A N I M A L inside of you / / - - - - - - - Nico smiled back at Annabeth. "I've been pretty good. Been travelling a lot really." He laughed at what she had to say and couldn't help the slight smirk. "Well, if I get a lot of non-boredom up here then who knows? I might just stay here year round." He really meant that too. Of course the Underworld did have its benefits, but after awhile it did get really boring. Then of course his dad made Nico become the lackey and do all sorts of things since Nico could shadow travel. He wanted a break from that. Camp was the perfect break.
It had gotten lonely down there as well. It would be good to see all of his old friends again. Just seeing Annabeth right now, seemed to make the usually non emotional showing kid, show some happiness in his face. His question about Percy though, had seemed like a bad turn when her face darkened. Nico's eyebrows rose up in surprise. Last time her had been here they had been happy in paradise.
His eyes narrowed slightly when he heard that Percy had walked out on her. Well, he might just have to talk to the son of Poseidon. maybe beat some sense into the older boy for doing that to Annabeth. Annabeth had always been nice to Nico and he had developed that awkward older crush thing that would never work out. unless of course he was older, and though he was, it was in a different way than how it would happen. He looked down at the cabins wondering what this Soteria was like. He was surprised there was another one, not mad, just surprised.
Nico couldn't help but still be curious about things. It was in his nature, and that wasn't going to go away very easily. "I think I just will stay. For quite a bit actually." He could tell that she wanted to laugh, and when he was pulled into another hug, he at first didn’t return but then thought he might as well as he hugged her right back. They were friends after all and friends that hadn’t seen each other in a very long time tended to hug. Especially when they went through what the gang and he had gone though. His sister slipped into his mind for the faintest of moments but he smiled anyways.
He watched as she picked up his backpack and he stooped down and picked up the duffel bag that held his clothes and other necessities. "Do we have any exciting games to be played soon? Or news on the great prophecy?" Of course he still wondered about that. He even worried about it because of the Doors of Death. That had to be something with Hades. He was the ultimate king of death was he not?
