It really seemed pathetic to Issa that even after all the time she’d spent at camp attempting to shrug out of the going-ons of the campers in everyday life, being the only known recent child of Aeolus meant that she so far had no cabin mates, and being one of the few single campers in the area especially concerning her friends, only now did it occur to her to feel lonely. Well, that wasn’t especially true. Often times she pretended that she made friends with loneliness, treating it like just another of the mysterious gods who seemed to linger on the periphery of everything. Except this one liked to taunt her.
It definitely wasn’t like her to wallow in these kinds of emotions. It was all about moving on until she met some end or other. But still… What was it without a good friend to really confide in? Sure she had become friends with Percy, but he had miles of issues and baggage that didn’t leave her feeling like she had the right to talk to him about her issues. She sometimes had Cameron and Will, but both were usually preoccupied with their girls. There was no bitterness in the thought, just a sad realization that she really, really needed to find someone to confide in, especially in the absence of her usual companion, Zephyrus. She’d even chatted up the wood nymphs once or twice, but they seemed to be in the same pattern of drama as everyone else. Somehow, she just wasn’t relating as well as she wished she could. “Ah la vache, Issa. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get it together,” she sighed, looking around.
How she’d ended up all the way up Half-Blooded hill by Thalia’s pine, she wasn’t entirely sure. Maybe she was enticed by the idea that Thalia spent all that time stuck as a tree alone. Or maybe it was different because it was the beginning of her time here at camp that made her want to visit. The vantage point certainly was nice, looking out at the rolling hills and areas in between, where she could see the big house, and some of the cabins in the distance. As a breeze blew across her face, she felt a little bit comforted, but something still yearned for anyone to sit under the large tree in the shade, and just talk about something. For now, however, she decided that she would spend time here, enjoying the view and the whispering wind, one familiar thing in the camp.

Kevin found himself wandering throughout the camp, trying to find some way to entertain himself. It was often such a drag after training, because it seemed like he still had several hours to kill before the nightly events. He stopped as he glanced up at Thalia's tree, noticing there was someone standing near it. Another camper, no doubt. Who else could it be? He felt the breeze blow across it face. It was pleasant, feeling the wind. But, sometimes,s it was a crying shame that the weather was always so nice there. Thanks to the protection it rarely eve rained. The only time he could ever feel more at home was when the winter was present and they allowed some snow to fall within the borders. But, most of the other campers weren't as comfortable during that time. Regardless, he was thankful for the opportunities that presented themselves. He began making his way toward the crest of the hill at the tree. He figured he could at least communicate with the camper. It was likely someone he knew anyway. He had managed to get to know most of the campers at least decently. Especially the newcomers. He was always fond of teaching the newbies. He reached the top of the hill, immediately recognizing Issa. "Hey, there, Issa." He said with a smile. He knew her as a relatively new camper, one of which he got along with quite well. Of course, her father was Aeolus, and his mother was Khione, both were associated with the winds, so, they had a bit of common ground to work with. He brushed his long dark hair behind his ears so his face could be seen better, his bright blue eyes, peering into her's. "You look troubled. Is something bothering you today?" He asked her politely, his voice as soft as freshly fallen snow, a trait he inherited from his mother. He crossed his arms in front of him as he often did when he was standing still. it helped control his impulsiveness at times. Cursed ADHD. He wondered how she had been lately, especially since they hadn't spoken much in a while. She almost always seemed to be concerned with her own thing, and that was always fine with him. He didn't like pressuring people into talking about things that they didn't want to discuss. Nor did he enjoy getting in people's faces. But, he certainly did enjoy conversation with people. He couldn't help but admire her, she was quite good looking. Especially considering the fact that she often had this sort of brooding look about her. It was something that he gathered most people didn't notice, but he had a way about reading people, especially when it came to things they wanted to keep out of other people's attention. He himself was never fond of large groups, but he learned to make do. But her, for some reason, he always liked her.

Surprised that after all of her irritated thoughts someone seemed to have wanted to answer her unspoken musings, Issa’s roving eyes caught sight of a figure staring up the hill, probably at her, and the start moving. Surprised, she squinted, trying to discern who it was. A Demi-god’s good physical condition usually included eyesight, so it wasn’t long before she could discern Kevin walking up the hill. Ah Kevin. During the time he was easing his way up the hill, she considered what she knew about him. It had certainly been a while since they’d talked. She remembered meeting him soon after she’d arrived, and that there was a certain unspoken kindred bond between them because they were both descendants from the family of wind deities, her father being the keeper and his mother the winter winds, especially ones that carried ice. She remembered thinking that maybe his mother might’ve lent her cold personality to him, but she didn’t really find that true, as long as the relationship remained amenable.
It seemed weird to her now that it hadn’t occurred to her to confide in him, but their friendship’s sum total up to this point was short acquaintances and perhaps the occasional training session together. About the time her musings came to an end, Kevin was cresting the hill, greeting her. “Salut, Kevin. What brings you up here today? I haven’t seen you in a while.” She smiled a more easy smile than the expressions that had previously crossed her face as she took in his Dark hair and Blue eyes that locked with hers, which were no doubt stormier today than his. Unconsciously she mirrored his action, slipping a few flyaway strands of long blond hair behind her ear to keep them from getting in her face. At his question, she sighed and turned her eyes away from his gaze, an apologetic grimace crossing her face. “I’m just having a day, is all. I hope you’re well,” she continued, attempting to turn the conversation away from her maladies. It was more out of habit than not wanting to discuss it with him, but she internally frowned at herself for it all the same.
“It’s nice up here, isn’t it? All the wind, it reminds me a little of my father.” Her gaze made it back to him after the brief internal moment, hoping to draw this friendly opportunity out. It was, after all, what she’d been asking for. Her smile turned wry as she realized that the gods really must have some strange sense of humor if they neglected usual requests from their children, then all of a sudden came through when it was least expected. Ah well.

Kevin smiled to her as she poke. whenever the wind was blowing, she always looked lovely for some reason. He wasn't sure if it was just the blessing of the wind, thanks to her parentage, or if it was just an effect of her appearance and personality. Either way, he liked it. "Well, I was just walking around camp and killing time. But, I felt kind of compelled to come over here. Of course, then I saw you and I just had to come and speak to you." He said with a wide smile, his eyes almost seeming to frost over as their eyes met again. Her eyes themselves were stormy, seeming to reflect the veyr mood of the wind. Just another attractive feature. It was true that they hadn't spoken in a while. He remembered the day she arrived at the camp. They really had felt some sort of bond, thanks to their heritage.
She had spoken again, saying she was just "having a day". Which led him to assume it was an unfortunate kind of day. "Well, I am sorry to hear that. if there is anything I can do, please do let me know." He spoke kindly, his soft voice barely above a whisper, seemingly carried by the wind as a whisper to only her. Being a child of a wind deity made for all kinds of interesting things. He was disheartened when he saw her down, but, it did give him a hope that it would allow him time to speak to her. Also, if he were fortunate, a chance to cheer her up. When she mentioned her father, it made him feel a little uneasy. He was glad that her father at least seemed to care about her. But his mother had never really given him a sign. He was astounded when she claimed him, considering the fact that she seemed to despise heroes. Then again, its possible that she would have need of him down the road. That alone was something he had fears of.
"Your father, yes. He is the keeper of the winds, right? I can respect such a title. I'm glad that you can feel his touch at times, even if it is just in the breeze. I am confident that it makes the days easier." He spoke with a soft kindness, hiding a bit of longing for a similar experience. It was true that he had always wished his mother would speak to him at least once. That she would send him a gift worthy of a demigod, worthy of her son. Still, he was glad that many demigods were given the chance that he was not. Yet, he found himself being jealous. He shook the thoughts away, and his smile returned as he took a step closer. "What about you, though? Are you up to anything?" He asked her politely, his arms again resting at his sides, the cool breeze blowing his hair about in the wind. His mind wandered again when he saw her smile. It was a little puzzling, but, at least it was a happy puzzling.

Oh yes. Kevin the flirt , Issa remembered, refraining from rolling her eyes a little bit. There was something about flirts at the camp that made her laugh, but feel nervous all the same. She remembered her unfortunate moment of weakness with a Son of Aphrodite, a certain Cameron, which had ended up with her secretly enjoying ice cream to cool her annoyance. This time, she thought, she might be better prepared to refrain from being taken in by her feelings of loneliness. But friends were always good. "I’m glad you came when you did, or I might’ve just drifted off again. I seem to be doing that too much these days.” Issa looked sideways at him, her lips curling into a cheeky grin as she noticed him subtly seeming to be taking notes about her. She was never sure how she could tell; some sort of internal alarm system just seemed to oblige the moment.
When the wind started behaving strangely, however, carrying the boy’s voice on it like a scarcely spoken endearment, she found herself attempting to fight off a blush. It was as if the wind was trying to make a tangible connection between the two wind children, something she found she both did and didn’t appreciate. But it was as it was and she’d be darned if she let the wind get the better of her. “Thank you. I think our meeting up here might be a sign of things getting better.” She watched his expression change a little bit as she mentioned her father and realized with a twinge that he more than likely did not have the same fortune of her, having at least a small amount of assurance her father cared for her a little. It was indeed a rare thing for the demigods (at least most of the ones she knew) to be routinely acknowledged by their godly parents. And from the stories Zeph used to tell her, Kevin’s mother was usually hostile towards heroes and not much more kind to anyone else. She touched the miniature Bag of Winds at her hip, thinking of Aeolus' own gift to her. Saddened, she couldn’t help but pat him on the arm even as he was replying about her own father. “Indeed. Thinking of the rare times we do have contact, it does make it easier. I used to sometimes talk to Zephyrus because my father would send him to check on me. He seems to be the most amenable of the winds. He is un bon ami.”
She watched him as he stepped closer, deciding to take the moment to sit down on the hill beneath the tree and pat the ground next to her as if to say he should join her. “I was just here sorting through my thoughts, is all.” She gestured over the camp with a sweep of her wrist before sending a playful puff of air at the boy to signal that her mood was improving. “Just looking at camp and how it’s changed since I came here. Anyway, is there anything on your mind at the moment? You seem a little pensive as well.”

Kevin glanced to her as she spoke again, his smile widening into a sort of nervous grin. He couldn't help it, seeing her smile made him want to smile as well. He looked down, nervously bringing a hand to his face, biting his nail as he glanced up at her again. He of course just realized that he had been flirting with her without realizing. He was a little worried about offending her. "Yes, drifting off can be quite bad. In that case, I'm glad I arrived when I did." He said with the same smile, his voice still as soft as ever. His eyes again met her's as he glanced up, forgetting to remove his hand from his face. He then realized he was acting nervous suddenly, and decided to at least try to act like he wasn't nervous around her. Especially since most girls really didn't seem to like it. "I certainly hope things are getting better. We could all use some good luck. A blessing or two, certainly." He replied quietly, sitting down gently beside her. He could feel a small bubble of wind hit him with a wave of her hand. He wasn't entirely sure about what it meant, but, it didn't bother him, so it couldn't have been horrible.
She was acting quite nice to him, which was refreshing. then again, she always had. He supposed that was part of the reason that he liked her. Nonetheless, his mind continued to wander until she spoke again. He was a little jealous that she had been given a gift from her father, even more so that she had been able to talk to him at all. Hell, even her chances to speak to a being of the divine that was connected to her father. He glanced up at the sky, thinking to himself. 'Why won't you even speak to me, mother? Am I a disappointment?' He thought, almost out loud. Of course, at that more, he returned his attention to Issa. "I apologize. I sometimes drift off into my own thoughts like that." He said with a quiet chuckle.
When she asked him how he was doing, that he was a little pensive, it made him wonder how to answer. it also made him wonder how much he was giving away that he had things on his mind. "Oh, well, I'm just wondering about my mother. Since she claimed me a couple years ago, she hasn't made any attempts to contact me at all. Or, at least, I haven't noticed any." He said softly, leaning back a bit as he spoke. He glanced over to her again, his smile returning. "I realize I'm just being whiny, aren't I?" He asked with a nervous smile, glancing down at the ground again. He glanced up at her again, his eyes meeting hers again. "So...do you ever wonder exactly what it's like out there? To be free of this place? I sometimes long to be out in the world, even if it is just to prove myself. Just to show that I can make it. Even if it is only to myself." He spoke slowly, and enunciated very clearly, as he always did. He never really noticed how soft he spoke most of the time, thanks to his mother. After his last statement, he couldn't help but think that part of his desire to prove himself was to his mother. Maybe a lot of it. He could feel a sudden cool breeze pick up, it was only for a couple seconds, but it was enough to make him wonder. His eyes glazed over softly, becoming a very bright blue for a few seconds as the cold hit him. But, just as soon as it started, it was gone. "Hmm..." He started quietly, drifting off once again into his own thoughts as he glanced up at the sky.

Issa was thoroughly interested in the way the boy of the snow goddess was reacting to her. She noticed that when she smiled he seemed nervous, which was something very, very strange to her. Sure she’d been called pretty, but she’d never in her life had a guy react to her quite the way he seemed to be. Unable to help herself, she flashed another smile and shrugged her shoulders as if to signal that the current atmosphere wasn’t bothering her as much as one might think, (or even as much as she herself might’ve been inclined to think any other time) and that the capricious wind only served to improve her mood, no doubt lightening her eyes into the likeness of a summer breeze rather than their previously stormy demeanor. “Indeed, it is a wonder that you did, too. Like the wind brought you.” Her grin widened at his expression and his sudden decision to stop acting overtly nervous, which she noticed of course. She wrapped her arms around her knees and looked up into the boughs of Thalia’s pine, a little mystified by it. Absently, she replied, “Yes. Luck and blessings are sometimes hard to come by for us, which is ironic, considering we’re the children of the source of them.”
She turned to him after she completed her observations of the tree and watched him quietly, noting his expressions, the way his jaw was set which made her think that whatever he’d been thinking about was a possibly touchy subject with him, and which way the conversation had gone to illicit such a response from him. The usual answer with some demi-god children was related to absentee parents who ought to have been there for their children but weren’t for whatever reason, whether it was because they were busy with their own duties (usual) or had little interest in their kids (unfortunate but common among some of the children), it was a painful fact of life for many of the children. Sometimes it was even for her, but having a personality befitting of a daughter of a wind god, even as its keeper, she didn’t dwell too long on things like that, except at times in the darkness of her cabin, which she stayed alone in. When he finally spoke, her eyes took a compassionate spark. “I would be a hypocrite if I snarked at you for that, mon ami.”
As he started to answer her previous inquiry after how he was doing, Issa felt a twinge at being proven right about his musings after his absent mother, which wasn’t a particularly pleasant feeling after all. She found herself hoping that even in his hurt feelings, he wouldn’t find himself being consumed by it. After all, even completely mortal children faced the issue of abandonment from one or both parents. But that statistic didn’t make it any easier to deal with if one happened to be among the rank of the unlucky. “Whiny? Of course not. Your feelings are legitimate, and probably more common around here than you might imagine. I’d like to comfort you by saying I believe she might just be a very busy woman, but even that is hardly an excuse. But it’s common for a demi-god child to feel abandoned. Even I feel it from time to time, but perhaps I don’t have as much a right as you. But I simply try to imagine that every brush of wind is a gift from my father, wherever he resides. It makes me feel a little better at least. I’m sure by some right your mother does care about you, and I can only hope that even though her demeanor is cold, her heart towards her children is not.” She watched him with a pensive, borderline sad expression, wishing she could help him feel some kind of sign from his mother that he loved him.
Turning her body to look out beyond the boundary, Issa wondered what life would be like outside of the camp. She occasionally had visited her mother previously, but every time she left camp, she felt vulnerable and exposed to monster forces, but also to the whims of the two fear gods that were vying for their place in the universe. Looking back at Kevin, her eyes were conflicted. “I guess I have less of the boyish quality of wanting to prove that I’m a tough cookie out there… There’re scary things that I still remember from leaving here that threaten each time. But at the same time, I wish I was safe enough, or powerful enough that those things wouldn’t be a problem.” The corner of her lip curled up into a rueful smile, just as the temperature in the wind dropped just enough for her to notice and cast a sideways look at Kevin, her eyebrows raised in a silent question.
.oO(Notes: Dude, this ended up longer than I meant it to! Haha. Sorry, don't feel like you have to write this super long reply.)

Kevin was suddenly very glad he had someone to talk to. A feeling of genuine satisfaction came over him. He couldn't help but notice her smiling, which just made him get another strange feeling, however, this one was likely just his nerves. When he looked to her, his eyes met hers, his smile forming as he gazed upon her. The feeling intensified in his gut. It felt like butterflies, or something similar. He had never been the type to "crush" on any one, but he figured if it was anything like he'd heard, this was likely it. His nervous attitude continued as he nervously bit his bottom lip, looking down to the ground again. When she spoke of his mother it made him wonder all the more how much she knew, being the daughter of the Keeper of the Winds. He hoped that his mother really had just been too busy. After all, what he had just felt was a good sign. The smile Issa gave him when it happened made him realize he hadn't imagined it. Maybe Khione really was watching over him. Maybe, she willed the two of them to meet, to drag him away from his loneliness. It was far from too much to hope.
"If at some point, we do manage to get away from the camp, if we do find a way to be out there, I will watch over you. I'll gladly protect you..." He paused after realizing what he was saying, a red tint taking his cheeks in a blush before he looked away again. His hand came up to his face again. He had to resist biting his nails. He was inwardly cursing himself. He quickly crossed his arms again, leaning back slightly. "...I mean that in uhhh...I...you know that we'd probably make a really good team." He managed to spit out the last bit after stuttering like a fool. He felt like an idiot, but, he supposed it could have been worse. She could have caught him swimming and losing his trunks or something horrendous like that. What an awkward day that was. Realizing his thoughts had wandered yet again, he glanced back to her, hoping to never mind his prior silliness.
After a couple moments of an awkward silence, he glanced up at the sky again. Sometimes, he could see the wind. Not the wind itself necessarily, but he could feel the currents of the air. Particularly the cooler ones. The colder the winds, the more he could feel them. He was feeling really warm, and had a rather strong urge to remove his shirt, but out of respect for the lady near him, he would simply make do. Even though the temperature was actually rather cool considering the time of year, he could feel himself perspiring. Of course, part of it could of been the way he was feeling at the moment. He hoped that she wouldn't think him a fool or something, or that she wouldn't be offended by his actions. He had never really had issues like this before. Except for one instance with a dryad, but, that was a very confusing incident. Took forever to get all the splinters out.
He moved a little closer to her still, because he could almost swear the wind was blowing harder in that direction as if egging him to move there. He had always figured it was better not to argue too much with the wind. Especially when you are related to someone who controls it, at least, to an extent and in a particular way. He suddenly noticed out of the corner of his eye, a lone flower was blowing gently in the breeze. Well, that was rather strange. The coloration was bright white with red tipped petals. It was in bloom, and quite beautiful. He wasn't much for flowers, but, this one just seemed...special. It practically screamed "pick me, pick me!" He had learned as a hero that a temptation was very dangerous. But, he was in camp. It was probably just grown by the Demeter cabin and forgotten about.
He plucked the flower from the ground, keeping the stem as intact as possible. He turned to her with a nervous smile. "I know, it's cliche`, but what about being a hero isn't?" He asked her with a chuckle. "You want to see something cool?" He asked her as his smile widened. Gently holding the flower by the bottom of the stem, and placing his other hand over the flower itself, he concentrated, causing a very thin layer of ice to form over the flower. It slowly spread over the stem and the petals until finally the entire flower was engulfed in a single thin sheet. When held in the light, it made the flower shine, causing the colors of the flower become more vibrant. It also caused a sort of prism effect when looking at it in direct sunlight. "Here." He said simply, holding it out to her. "It'll be a little cold, and don't worry about breaking it, just be a little careful." He said kindly. He didn't care how cliche` it was, and he didn't care if he looked like an idiot. "I just want to show my appreciation for you talking to me like this. It's been...well, it's probably been the happiest time I've had in a long while." He said happily, a twinkle in his eye as he smiled at her. "I uhh...hope this isn't too inappropriate." He added softly, a hint of concern on his face, another slight blush appearing on his face.
(Note: Sorry if it's a bit lengthy, and I hope it doesn't make the thread too awkward. It was a sudden thought while I was in the middle of writing it. lol)

Issa was working very hard to maintain a straight face around this boy. She could easily tell that there was something going on in that…cute… head of his. She paused her mental process for a moment. When had she decided he was cute?! For a moment she wondered if getting a crush was infectious, leading for her to hide a slight blush herself. This was a really rare moment for her indeed. She tried her best to ignore the fact that he bit his lip and focused instead on his plight with whether his mother was willing to be a mother to him or not. She could always try to contact Zephyrus and see what he knew; She decided to filed the idea away for later.
The look of shock on her face at Kevin’s next words must’ve been priceless, because her jaw had dropped of its own accord and her face was burning. It was most likely the color of ripe tomatoes, and she was horrified to even find out. It made her feel only a little better to see that he was suffering from the same humiliating spread of red, but still. “I’m… I’m very grateful that you… feel that way.” Whichever way that might be, she almost wanted to add. Grinning through her embarrassment at the corrected sentiment, she nodded in agreement. “I’m sure as wind children, we’d make a fine… team.” She’d hesitated on the last word, half to tease the boy, and half because she almost wanted to believe that his sudden speech impediment was caused by feelings for her. But that was just WEIRD. It made her stomach flop about nervously.
She followed the boy’s direction and turned her attention back to the wind, enjoying the warmth of the breeze. She could almost feel herself enjoying a swim in this weather. However, she was so content under the giant pine that she hardly wanted to move. And, she thought, she didn’t want the moment with this strange boy to end just yet, either. It was a rare treat to be with someone who appreciated the wind as much as the boy did, one who could understand the subtle undercurrents like she did. She barely even deigned to react when he moved closer, but her muscles did tense a little bit as she wondered what he might be thinking. When he reached for a flower, a blush started to creep up her face again. She was embarrassed to assume that it had anything to do with her, but…
When he turned to her, she thought she might die with embarrassment again, but she nodded quickly at his question about seeing something cool. “Show me.” As she watched the ice engulf the fragile little thing, she almost clapped with excitement. “That’s so… so… cool!” She was totally annoyed with herself at the word choice, however. “I mean cool as in n-neat, not cold, because that’s a little.. obvious…” She trailed off as he held it out to her and she had to force her hand to meet his and accept the small, frozen token. She was absolutely enthralled by it, but she managed to turn her attention to him as he spoke to her. “Ahh… Well. It’s um… Nothing. I’ve really enjoyed talking to you, too.” She elbowed him playfully at that. “It’s a shame we didn’t do this a while back.” She found herself blushing as well at his last comment and shook her head. She wished she had something equally as cool to offer the boy, but at the moment, all she had on her was weapons and chocolate. She thought for a minute before her blush suddenly deepened and she looked at him. Hesitating for a moment, she grabbed his arm and pulled him down slightly to lean more towards her and…. Pecked him on the cheek. After she did that, she turned her face in the complete opposite direction to hide her extreme embarrassment. “I… Thank you,” was all she managed.

Kevin could feel his cheeks flushing all the more every second. He made embarrassing statements and the next thing he knew, he could have a red hand print on his face. So far, however, he had been very lucky. She seemed just as nervous as he did. In fact, she seemed to be showing some of the same symptoms. Was it possible that she was crushing on him too? This thought just made him turn a little redder. He was glad that she had responded positively, it would have deeply upset him if she hadn't. He noticed that she had paused before she spoke the word "team" He had a feeling she was just messing with him, but still, something about it gave him a glimmer of hope that she felt similarly. He couldn't help but think about the possibilities. Of course, their similarities were rather strong, and on top of that fact, she was beautiful. He caught himself staring at her for a few moments as her hair blew gently in the warm breeze. She had beautiful eyes too...He shook his thoughts away, looking away into the wind again.
When she took the flower her excitement caught him by surprise. He grinned at her reaction. It was truly a rare site to see so much bubbly excitement and emotion in general from her. It was a side of her he had already grown to enjoy, even though it had only emerged a couple of times, but never to this extent. He figured she could keep the flower as a souvenir of sorts. The ice shouldn't melt unless he himself had begun to proverbially "melt". At the very least, it could wind up a practical gift if their separated at some point. Of course, the main intention was that it was pretty to look at. Suddenly he had a thought to say a very cheesy romantic line, but, decided to pass on it. Why ruin the moment? When she replied about the flower, covering her embarrassment at her unintended pun, he couldn't help but laugh again. She was so adorable when she blushed.
His mind wandered around frequently, especially when it came to girls. But, this was a whole new level. The truth of the matter was that he found her almost too attractive. He could imagine himself getting tongue tied. Then, it happened. He felt her tug at him, pulling his arm down before planting a kiss on his cheek. Even if it was just on his cheek, it still made his cheeks feel like they were the temperature of the sun. He hoped they weren't as red as they felt, he wasn't typically the type to blush so heavily, but, she seemed to have that effect on him. She quickly turned away, thanking him for his gift. Part of him wished it hadn't been his cheek. He would have much preferred a real kiss, but he couldn't expect that. Of course, he was probably better off anyway. He had a feeling that he would have fainted if she had really kissed him. That would not have gone well, he thought.
He glanced to her, a warm smile playing across his face as he glanced at the flower in her hands, then to her face. Or, at least as much of it as he could see at that angle. "No problem at all. Thank you as well, Issa. I can't recall a gift I've ever received as lovely as that. Nor one as appreciated." He said simply, giving his best polite smile he could muster. He could feel the wind pick up a little bit, blowing towards them again. He figured the wind was getting a bit too pushy for his taste. After all, they were the Greek Gods, and the stories didn't paint them as the most subtle of individuals. But, one more little bit shouldn't be too bad. He leaned in close just as a gust of wind reached them, and planted a soft kiss on her cheek in return. As he returned to his prior position, his hands remained on the grass, a nervous smile on his face. "I thought I would return the favor." He said with a chuckle. At least his nervousness was dissipating a little bit.

A strange warmth blossomed in Issa’s chest where a feeling of cool indifference had existed before. Certainly she had a soft spot for friends, but in one fell swoop, Issa was being changed, if only a little, by remaining near this icy boy. He was, quite possibly, one of the nicest guys she’d ever met that she thought it might be safe to indulge in… thoughts of more than being friends. When his lips met her cheek, it made her feel even warmer, and she knew her face was as scarlet as the strawberries that grew in the fields a little ways away down the hill. But for once, she didn’t want to run away from her embarrassment. She wanted to stay and see if she could stand to survive it and learn how to become comfortable around Kevin. Sure she was still a bit weary of boys in general, even people in general. But in the couple of years Issa had been there, she’d surely become something of a new person, and the winds around them were doing a little breezy dance. She had to scoff just a little at that; she figured she might hear about this later from Zeph.
After mastering her facial expression she became brave enough to look at Kevin again and smile, if a bit mischeviously. “Thanks. I, uh, appreciate that favor.” She shuffled her position a little bit where they were sitting. She was feeling a little stiff from being on the ground, but up until then, Issa’d really barely noticed. After adjusting a little bit to a comfortable pose, she settled again and started toying with the ground, plucking bits of grass absently as she thought of something to talk about. She thought it couldn’t hurt to make more conversation; she wanted to know more about him, and hoped he might feel similarly. It took a little while for her to build up the courage to open her mouth again because the wind was so soothing and she was content just to sit, but she kept feeling like she better say something, the longer the silence stretched.
Finally she blurted, “So, tell me something about you. Like, um… Maybe your favorite color. And animal. And…” She thought for a moment for something interesting to ask about, something that might give her more insight into his personality so she wouldn’t have to ask him straight out. Maybe… “How about a favorite childhood memory?” As she had asked it, she found herself suddenly nervous again, because she was aware that sometimes childhood was an indisputably difficult time for a young demigod. But surely he’d have a good memory to relate?
