Personality:: Nico is a very complicated person, in a nutshell. His personality invariably wavers between the stone-cold son of Hades, and the sweet little boy that he is. He's had to grow up very fast in the last few years, and it's had quite a toll on his mind. Obviously, one can deduce from his parentage, that Nico's fatal flaw is his penchant for holding grudges to the point of stupidity, as is true of Hades himself and his past children. Despite being very young, not much older than 14, the demi-god is extremely powerful, and he is very aware of this fact, earning him a streak of arrogance in certain cases. In less specific terms, Nico di Angelo is nosy, curious, inventive, proud, honest, and quite intelligent. Of course, his home being downstairs with his Father, Nico has picked up less pleasing habits, like lurking, lying, spying, eaves-dropping, and stealing; all things that would be expected of a boy living in Hades. To expound, briefly, on certain acquired hobbies, you could say that Nico has all the common maladies of a common delinquent child, which might not be too far from the truth, according to some people.
Family:: Father - Hades
Mother - Maria di Angelo [deceased]
Siblings - Bianca di Angelo [deceased]
History:: Born sometime, the exact date is yet unknown, 1924, Nico di Angelo, and his sister Bianca, were the last children born of Hades. His mortal mother, Maria di Angelo, was killed by Zeus in an attempt to kill all three di Angelos when Nico was 10. Hades, naturally outraged and grief-stricken, ordered Alecto, head of the Erinýes, more commonly known as Furies, to wash both childrens' memories away in the river Lethe.
The brainwashed kids were then placed in the Lotus Casino/Hotel, a
magically-distorted sort of dimension where the world outside goes on as normal, but the people inside the Hotel do not age, where they remained for close to 70 years. When the Olympians began growing ever-more cautious about the Prophetic child of the "Big Three", Hades re-sent Alecto to collect his children, hoping that either of them, preferably Bianca, would be the child of prophecy.
Completely clueless about who they were and what was going on, Bianca and Nico were sent to Westover Hall to go to school until such time that Hades wanted them. It was here that they were approached by Grover Underwood, a faun-in-disguise, who was positive that the di Angelos were very powerful half-bloods. Word was sent for Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Thalia Grace to come and help Grover extract Bianca and Nico from the clutches of Dr. Thorne, the school-administrator and secret manticore.
The clash between the half-bloods, obviously excluding Nico and Bianca, and the Manticore ended up requiring the aid of the Goddess Artemis and her hunters. Annabeth is taken by the manticore and assumed dead, and Bianca abandons her brother Nico in lieu of joining the Hunters on Artemis's behalf. Heart-broken, Nico returns to Camp Half-Blood with Thalia, Percy, Grover, and the entire legion of Hunters, who are forced to stay at Camp Half-Blood as Artemis is going on a solo-quest.
Everything glides along effortlessly until a quest to help Artemis, and hopefully save Annabeth as well, is demanded. 5 people are chosen from the quest, among them are Percy (who wasn't actually chosen, but sneaking off to join the group), whom Nico has chosen to cast as his mentor and best friend, and his own sister, Bianca. Nico, 11 at the time, is naturally anxious that his sister is going on such a dangerous quest, and asks for a promise from Percy to keep his sister safe at all costs.
Exasperated and in a hurry, Percy agrees to the boy's request, and Nico is content. The months seemed to drag, but finally, the triumphant return of the heroes! It didn't take Nico very long to seclude Percy from the rest of the hubbub, and demand to know what happened to his sister. Upon hearing the soft-spoken story of Bianca's death, and being ambushed by seemingly random skeletal warriors, Nico accidentally opens a fissure that envelopes the skeletons, killing them finally, and runs away.
Miserable, alone, and letting his grudge fester, the di Angelo boy wandered the forests around Camp Half-Blood. In the morning, or what he thought was supposed to be the morning, Nico wakes up in some place quite foreign, and dark still. His companion, as he found out in half a moment, was a ghost. This spirit, who revealed himself as King Minos, took it upon himself to tell Nico that he was a son of Hades.
Easily believable, Nico accepted this truth, and used it to his advantage, leaning heavily on his new friend. All lines were crossed in vain, and sometimes savage, attempts to resurrect his sister.
The incident concerning Daedalus's Labyrinth isn't often thought about, as Nico has practically considered it moot, and dropped the subject entirely. The only things that he pulled from his experiences there.. were the facts that he was still incredibly unprepared for the battle that everyone knew to be coming up, that his sister was mad at him for blaming Percy for her death.. and that Percy was really an OK guy.
Nico got to see his sister briefly after the battle, in which meeting she shared with him his fatal flaw: holding grudges. Not at all surprising, actually, as it had nearly been the death of him several times in the past. The boy returned to his home in the Underworld, stating his position of staying solitary with gusto. It was obvious that nobody would accept him at Camp Half-Blood. Hades was a hellhole, literally. Not much to do there but train vigorously... and be scorned by his Father. Hades was naturally angry that Bianca died, as he considered her the more capable of the two of his children.
Not long after getting 'home' Nico divined a way that he figured might be the trick to beating Kronos, and rushed off to tell his new friend Percy. The idea of getting Percy to wade into the river Styx, just as Achilles had done, wasn't realized until much later, when Percy came down into Hades, and talked to the God who resided there with his wife and mother-in-law. Wandering into the hall to see how Percy's case with Hades was coming, Nico was informed that the Son of Poseidon had been hauled to a cell.
The di Angelo boy broke Percy out of his prison cell, and took him straight to the River Styx, and watched anxiously as his friend did as he bid him. There wasn't much time to see if all the bases had been covered, but Nico had been sure Percy would be safe with the dousing he'd gotten. After letting Percy leave, Nico attempted something he'd always thought of doing, but had never actually tried.
Pouring all his practice and skill into this, Nico tried to summon up his mother, despite the frantic warnings that Bianca threw at him. Instead of seeing the specter of his mother, Nico was greeted with the scene of his Mother's death. Upon waking from this, Nico was found by his outraged father.
When the battle between the Olympians and the Titans finally was waged, the boy instantly took a side, his loyalties going to the Olympians side. Hours and hours were spent in seemingly vain attempts to woo his father, having chosen a neutral stance, into sending soldiers in to help the Gods. After an eternity of waiting, Hades was finally swayed, and the soldiers, very literally, saved the day.
Upon leaving camp half-blood, just after the battle, Nico set a few of his soldiers to building a Camp cabin for Hades's children... which meant a cabin for himself alone.

~ MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL.[/b]
The reflective surface of the mirror on the wall in front of the demi-god was a puzzle in and of itself. Of course, Nico didn't really know why he was gazing into his reflected eyes with such an expression. One might ask the question: "What expression?" Which would be a very fair question, indeed. Someone with an untrained eye could glance over at the lanky little boy and see him staring listlessly at himself.. but to someone who knew Nico, and knew where to look.
Deep in his jet black eyes, there was a small dancing flame of curiosity and interest. The boy usually had no interest in his face, as it was eerie and alien. Before his 12th birthday, that he had morosely celebrated by himself, Nico would always look at himself and see his rich olive-toned skin. He had looked quite human then.. and, being Italian, he could pass with black hair and eyes.
Now, of course, his skin was now a sickly marble white. " I look like a vampire, " Nico remarked without much enthusiasm, running a pale hand through his shaggy black hair and grinning without mirth. It was an interesting thing, seeing yourself this way.. almost like stepping into someone else's skin and admiring the upholstery... being their skin.
Sighing softly, the boy looked around his cabin, admiring the general sense of loneliness that settled over him like a cold blanket. His bunk was low, the frame made out of solid marble and the covers were black satin. Dark eyes rolled over his sword, made of pure stygian iron, anterovgálti̱s; Ripper.
The idea of stygian iron was an interesting one. Only sons and daughters of Hades could withstand touching this metal for more than a few seconds... as direct contact with the iron could actually result in frostbite. When made, the metal was cooled in the River Styx, giving it it's strange mother-of-pearl sheen, and freezing temperatures. Through this sword, Nico could summon his followers, employ any more of kinesis that he normally used, as well as steal people's souls directly from their body. The cold laugh that fell from his lips was chilling, as if his Father were using him as a puppet.
Scary thought. ~
