Celebrity Claim: Carlos Bocanegra
Looks:: Towering at 6’6” and weighing 220 lbs, Hector is physically a fine specimen with a well-toned, tanned body and a surprisingly handsome face with a cute, adorable smile and gorgeous hazel eyes. He wears his dark brown hair in a short fohawk style. At first glance, he may seem more like a child of Aphrodite, resembling nothing like his homely father. However, his rather large size and bulging muscles certainly are what make him stand out. His choice of attire is also rather plain, wearing plain white or black v-neck tees and khaki shorts. On hot days, he likes to wear tanktops, basketball jerseys (especially his Lakers jersey of his favorite player Pau Gasol), and basketball shorts to show off his nice body.
Personality:: At first glance, Hector may seem like the cocky, arrogant type due to his looks and jock status. However, that is not the case! He is timid and modest, preferring to spend time alone rather than socialize with others like his father. However, when in the company of others, he is very kindhearted, thinking about their needs before his own. For a son of Hephaestus, he is good mannered and well behaved. Hector is very humble and doesn’t think of himself as superior to anyone despite his academic and athletic excellence. As a matter of fact, he just sees himself as average and nothing special though his performance says otherwise. Even after finding out that he was the son of a god, Hector still thinks of himself as a regular teenage boy. Though this is very admirable of Hector, he sometimes takes it too far to the point where he puts himself down. Therefore, every time he makes a mistake, he always blames it on himself. Also, this makes him an easy target for bullies though his size usually deters them from ever picking a fight with him.
Besides his humility, Hector is also very hardworking and diligent. Once he sets his goals, he will solely concentrate on them and do everything in his power to complete them. Like the metals he uses to forge various objects, he is very resilient, not allowing any obstacles to obstruct his path for long. He also does not like giving up on a task unless it is seemingly impossible or beyond his capabilities. Though he is goal-oriented, Hector always puts family and friends first before anything. His loyalty is such that he is willing to sacrifice his own life to protect those he loves.
Family:: Eva Serrano (mother), Hephaestus (father), Andres Navarro (stepfather)
History::Hector Ignacio Serrano was born on May 30, 1993 in Barcelona, Spain. Instead of growing up in the city, he was raised in a lavish Roman-style villa in the beautiful Spanish countryside a couple of miles north of Barcelona. According to his mother Eva, the majestic villa was bought and renovated by Hector’s father whom she met north in the mountains and only after a few weeks left her while she was pregnant, giving her the villa as well as a large fortune to help support her and their son. Because of being raised in a financially solid household, Hector was never really angry at his mysterious father for leaving them, but like most boys, he strongly desired a fatherly figure. Luckily for him, at the age of six, his wish came true in the form of Andres Navarro, a professional matador from Navarre who married Eva and became Hector’s stepfather. Caring and loving, he allowed Eva and Hector to keep their surnames and accepted Hector as his own son, even deciding on not having kids with Eva. Andres proved to be a key figure in Hector’s life as he encouraged the boy to exercise and become physically fit as well as take him and his mother to trips around Europe. Hector’s favorite place by far was Greece where he oddly felt some form of connection there, as if it was his true home.
When Hector became eight, his mother sent him to boarding school in Barcelona where he bloomed throughout his middle and high school career. He excelled in all of his academic subjects, especially chemistry, earning straight A’s every single semester. However, he was even more remarkable in the gym where he exercised constantly every day and soon became physically stronger, faster, and tougher than everyone else in his grade. His athletic prowess was clearly displayed in basketball where he shined as a superstar on the court, making all the crucial shots and plays. Finally, Hector participated in numerous charity organizations, helping out those who weren’t as fortunate as he was. Though he seemed like a well-rounded kid (his parents would always applaud him every time he returned home), Hector lacked social skills. He personally chose to room by himself, preferring privacy over company. And while in his dormitory, he would pursue his true passion which was forging objects from wood, stone, metal, or basically anything he could get his hands on. His finished products which included chairs, watches, and rings were given to his teachers as well as his friends. Not to be confused, Hector did have friends, just not close ones. Being a straight-A student as well as a basketball star made him popular and his kind heart and amiable personality made him well-liked among his peers. However, he was too shy and modest to run for student government or participate in activities like forensics. He was particularly shy around girls especially later in high school when girls started to take interest in him. This was no surprise as Hector grew to be a tall, well-built, and handsome young man. Unfortunately, he never took any interest in girls and so never had the experience of going on a date.
Despite his ups and downs, Hector was a very successful student to say the least and was offered numerous scholarships from several prestigious universities around the world. His basketball skills were also so phenomenal that he was encouraged to play in the Spanish ACB League and later, if talented enough, in the NBA itself. With so many doors wide open to him, all of them leading to prosperity, Hector had quite a difficult time choosing. Before he could reach a final decision, however, one night changed everything. As he and his parents were returning to their villa, a massive snow-white bull with golden horns, the same one that terrorized Crete before Hercules captured it for his Seventh Labor, ambushed them. Being a matador, Andres tried his best to fend off the bull but the beast was too clever and gored him in the left leg. With Andres down, Hector suddenly realized that the bull was really after...him! Before Hector could panic, a blacksmith’s hammer surrounded by fire appeared above his head. With that, his mother who was at his side finally told him that he was the son of the Hephaestus, Greek god of the forge, and he had now been claimed by his true father. With this sudden epiphany, Hector gained newfound confidence and succeeded in vanquishing the bull, ripping off one of its horns after it charged and stabbing it into its heart before it roared in pain and vanished in dust.
After the skirmish, Andres was quickly taken to the ER (luckily he would survive to live another day) and Hector and his mother went back to their villa. Immediately, Eva told her son to pack as she explained that she had to keep it a secret until the time was right. Before her son asked where he was going, she gave him a postcard with an address to Camp Half-Blood. Without protesting a bit, Hector nodded, knowing that his mother knew what was best for him. As for his father, Hephaestus, the feeling was mutual. Hector didn’t like him for abandoning him and his mother, yet at the same time didn’t hate him. After all, he gave him a nice home and money as well as even bothered to claim Hector as his own. As he took the first plane to New York City alone (his mother had to stay to tend to Andres), Hector sought answers. Yet at the same time, he felt vulnerable as he plunged into a new world filled with both wonders and horrors. His quest had now just begun…

Sample RP:: After paying the taxi driver, Hector Ignacio Serrano unloaded all his baggage from the trunk and thanked the driver as the cab drove off into the distance. Turning around, Hector surveyed the lush green hill before turning to the postcard in his card, the one his mother gave him before he left for America. Camp Half-Blood. So this was it. A rather large knoll, decorated with a single pine tree. However, the tree itself looked quite beautiful and majestic, guarding the hill like a lone sentinel. As Hector stared at it longer, he could have sworn that he saw something moving for a second. No, it was probably a mirage. After all, it had been a long day for the son of Hephaestus from the morning he landed in New York City to touring the massive city in just one day, his first glimpses of America. Although it had only been little more than a day, Hector already felt homesick. He missed his luxurious villa in the serene, undisturbed Spanish countryside, but most of all, he missed his mother and stepfather Andres. Briefly, he made the sign of the Cross and closed his eyes, praying that Andres would recuperate soon. Luckily, the bull only gored his leg. If it aimed lower, well…things would have gotten much uglier.
Immediately discarding that disturbing thought from his mind, Hector concentrated once more on his current situation. From the looks of it, he reached a dead-end, but he refused to give up after coming this day. Not to mention he trusted that his mother gave him the right directions. Perhaps my destination is just beyond that hill…[/color] Trusting his gut feeling and his mother’s faith in him, Hector effortlessly carried his heavy cargo and slowly made his way up the hill, taking his time. Though he was uncertain about what was waiting for him on the other side, Hector braced himself for it whether it was another dangerous beast or a rabble of teenagers awaiting his arrival. What was certain, however, was that his life would never be the same again.
