It wouldn’t be long until cleaning inspection on the cabin. Well, that was a lie. The next inspection wasn’t until tomorrow, and chances were if he cleaned up now, the cabin mates would probably make it messy again, not to mention make fun of him for it. He didn’t care though; he didn’t socialize too much with his cabin mates anyway; he was more social with the rest of the camp. That was both a blessing and a curse on his part. It did help though, after being at camp for so many years at a time. Six. D.J. let out a low whistle. He still couldn’t believe he’d been at the camp for that long.
He picked up a crumpled paper on the floor and basketball-shot it at the wastebasket. It flew a good two feet to the side. D.J. grimaced to himself and went over, picking it up and actually dropping it in the wastebasket. He had never been good at aim. That was one thing he was upset about after being a Son of Ares. Shouldn’t being the son of the God of War mean that you were good at pretty much every type of weapon. Well, sword, spear, any sort of hand combat D.J. had down. It was the aiming at long distance through the air, like bows or other things like that he pretty much blew at. Maybe he needed to get his eyes checked. No, that was the last thing he needed—being made fun of for having glasses.
D.J. went back to cleaning his bunk in silence, wondering if he was going to see his sisters or brothers before he went to dinner that night. If he wanted, he could have probably gone to the armory or to the arena, even the woods, and found them working on training. Wasn’t that what he was supposed to be doing anyway? Once his end of the bunk was decent (he still left some of it a mess from not wanting to look like a complete suck up) he sat down on his bed. He pulled out his sword and stared at the gift from his father. Nikephoros—“carrying victory”. Interestingly enough the last time he had been looking over his blade the Goddess of Victory herself had stopped by for a friendly chat. That had been interesting enough. D.J. let out another breath before standing up, far enough away from the door so that if anyone entered the empty cabin he wouldn’t hit them, but began swinging his sword like he was battling an invisible enemy.

Ryan was headed back to the Ares Cabin. He never spent that much time there, just for a few hours of sleep and that was pretty much it. The arena or forest could of been his Cabin, he spent so much more time around camp then he ever did in his Cabin. He didn't socialize with his 'siblings' either. The fifteen year old never really socialized with anyone that much. As sad as it sounded, he really didn't know anyone at all, here at Camp and he had been here for three years. Ryan didn't really know his siblings either, not that he wanted to. They weren't really really family to him. No one was. Sadly, he was starting to socialize a bit more, but it wasn't really going that well. It always ended up in a fight or challenge of some sort.
As he walked in, he noticed that the Cabin was sort of clean. Whatever, no concern to him. What was it? Cabin inspection? He rolled his grey eyes, he didn't have many possessions. Just some clothes and his weapons and that was it. That was all he had when he came to camp, his weapons strapped on his back and a duffle bag of clothes. The next thing he noticed was that one of his 'brothers' had taken a sword and had started swinging it. He watched him warily for a few moments, slid out his staff and went to go around him, staff up incase he needed to block a hit.
He wondered for a second who had tidied the Cabin up, but then looked at his Cabinmate. Probably him, whatever. He wondered if any of his siblings spent a lot of time here. Ryan never really did spend any time here out of the three years he had been here. He watched his older brother for a couple of seconds then shrugged and started to take off his weapon stock. When he had first met Edmund, he had called him a Walking Weapons Shop, and it was half sort of true. Ryan had every weapon that he had learned on him. Dagger, Staff, Spear, Bow and Arrow, Throwing Star, Swords, you named it, it was on his back, belt, pouch, or in his hand.

D.J. took another swing before he heard the door open. Turning around he came to find one of his half-brothers standing there. He had a strange look upon his face, a ‘whatever’ look, but still rather observant anyway. D.J. gave him a half smile before sheathing his sword, deciding it would be best not to swing a rather lethal weapon around in the cabin after all, especially if someone else was there as well. He moved out of the center of the room to get out of the other guy’s way—Ryan he thought the boy’s name was; D.J. had been here for six years, it would have been bad if he didn’t know his own brother’s name. Then again, he hardly ever saw his cabinmates. They were always grouped together terrorizing the rest of camp while D.J. attempted to get along with the rest of camp.
“Hey,” D.J. said to Ryan, climbing onto his bed and sitting back against the headboard, watching to see what his brother was going to do. He noticed the staff in his hand and figured that was because D.J. had been wielding a sword a few minutes ago. “Next cabin inspection is tomorrow,” he said, not exactly sure how to start up a conversation with his brother.
Being a Son of Ares, D.J. knew it was as unwise to tempt a demi-god’s temper as it was to poke a sleeping dragon in the eye. But he couldn’t help but try to be friendly, it was who he was. More than likely it had been taken from his mother’s side of the family and notably focused with all those fighting classes when he was younger. Still, it was odd how calm and kind he could be at times. Not the best quality to get along best with siblings, but it did get him along with the rest of the camp. D.J. wasn’t sure which he preferred, because as it proved two years ago, he was still loyal to Clarisse and the rest of his cabin when Kronos had attacked the empire state building. D.J. looked back over at his half-brother and gave him a half smile. “It’s Ryan, right?”

Ryan relaxed slightly as the other son of Ares sheathed his sword. By 'slightly' it was as in one millionth, he was never relaxed for some reason; he was always tense and on guard. The fifteen year old knew that his "half brother" had been here longer than him, as he had seen him when he had first come here. Ryan wouldn't of minded if the other boy had just kept swinging; he just wold of sucked it up and dealt with it. Ryan wasn't sure what this guy's name was, yeah, it was pretty bad. They were supposed to be "brothers", "family", but Ryan didn't think like that. To him, the Cabin he was in and the people who were in it where just there. They had no connection to him whatsoever, even if they did indeed share blood. Another reason that Ryan had no idea what this other guy's name was, was because he never spent any time in the Cabin. He was more likely in a training area or the forest; he was a complete loner. Ryan didn't participate in the group tormenting of other people and he was the antisocial sort of person. He was always by himself and he didn't mind; he liked it that way better. The younger boy looked over. "Hi," he said indifferently. He finished taking off his weapons and then sat down on the bed, just looking around at the Cabin. Ryan finally noticed that he still had the staff in his hand and put it down. For him, it was so common for him to be carrying, or using a weapon and then forgetting he had it in his hand. Ryan nodded and shrugged. "Fine," he said, taking another look around. The Cabin looked alright; he wasn't a neat freak (well, he sort of was when it came to his weapons) but he thought that his bed was pretty decent. He wasn't sure how often he was doing it these days, but sometimes Ryan was seriously considering that he wasn't a son of Ares. Sure, he was violent and good with weapons, but that was pretty much it. For the weapons, he just sort of credited his aunt with that; he would of sort of been nothing without her teaching. He had been nice for two years of his life, but that sort of evaporated since he was eight. Ryan wondered half the time if his so called "aunt" was really his mother, just to ashamed to say it to him. If Lila had been his mother, then he had just gotten all of Ares' genes, full force. From what Kath said about Lila, there could be no way that he had any of her genes in her. Kath said that Lila had been nice and all the yucky positive things. Ryan was far from that. He looked up at his "half brother", and hesitated. This was sort of the sad part about him. He forgot his own name at sometimes, Kath had only told him once and then never called him by it herself; Ryan had been hearing it more and more around Camp, so he was getting a bit more used to it, but it was still very weird. "Yeah," he said after a slight hesitation. (Sorry, he's not that much of a talker )

D.J. watched Ryan for a moment before turning back to his bunk, dropping his sword on top of the his bed. Well, this had to be one of the most awkward conversations he’d ever had, especially with one of his half-siblings. Not even a conversation, really, as neither had said more than five words to one another. Apparently Ryan wasn’t much of a talker. D.J. knew better than try to annoy him into a conversation, as he was a Son of Ares, and knew how bad tempers could rise. Unfortunately the thickening of the awkwardness in the room was too much for D.J. to ignore anymore.
“So, are you from around here or did you travel far with a satyr?” To D.J. simple conversation usually came easy, but it was still really weird attempting to talk with his siblings. Most of them didn’t like just plain conversations. It was more of a grunt and a whack with a sword. That was one of the nicest hellos you could get from a child of Ares. Perhaps it was better if he had just stayed silent in the beginning. This guy didn’t seem to want any sort of conversation in the first place, so it probably would have been the smart thing to do to just shut his mouth and let people go their own way.

Ryan looked up slightly at his older 'brother'. He was much older than him, obviously. He was the youngest Ares kid at fifteen. The other male in the Ares cabin looked older than him as well. This male was easily older than both of them. Ryan watched as his older 'brother' put his sword down on the bed. It was sort of sad; Ryan didn't even know his 'siblings' names. Not that he cared, he didn't. He didn't really know anyone's name in this Hades of a Camp. The demigod boy knew he wasn't much of a talker; he wasn't much for socializing either. If people ever wanted a conversation with him, it just ended up like this. He didn't really take it as awkward at all; it was normal for him now. He was more solo and independent than anything. Ryan rarely went into his Cabin anyway; he only did to get a few hours of rest. He avoided the Camp sing alongs all together; they sounded like his imagination of people dying a horrible death of torture.
He looked up as the older boy questioned him. "My aunt brought me," he growled shortly. Aunt, yeah right. The Aunt from Hades. Ryan wasn't into talking that much, unless insulting someone that is. Half the time, he wondered why he even stayed in Camp when he hated it this much. Most of the times, during the night, when he snuck out off of curfew, he could of just run off the boundary line and never come back. Thing was, he had no where to go. Camp was somewhere he could train his guts out and still be safe. Then again, what good was training if you couldn't use it in the real world? The world where monsters where everywhere and people wanted to hurt demigods and all. All of the sudden, Ryan began wondering why his older sibling was being so nice to him. He hadn't really paid attention to anyone's behavior at all. The fifteen year old just hated everyone and saw them as an enemy.

Well he certainly didn't seem overly thrilled at the thought of being here. Most sons of Ares that D.J. knew where more than 'happy' (if such a word could describe a son of Ares) to get their hands of a few weapons and bash at dummies, training for some sort of huge battle. Perhaps not as huge as the one two years ago in Manhattan, but still one that would change the course of their future. Unfortunately to do it, they had to be grouped together with a bunch of other happy sons of Ares and other children of other Gods. When looking at the whole picture, it was easy to see his half Brother didn't really want to talk to him, and D.J. wasn't going to do anything to stop that. It was how it was.
"It's not as horrible as it seems," he promised his half brother. "Sometimes, life at this camp is like a bad song on the radio. You have to sing along and it will become bearable, perhaps even enjoyable." He gave his half brother a sort of strained smile. "I'm D.J. by the way." The smile flickered slightly upward before he turned back to his bed and pulled out a backpack, deciding to leave before this awkwardness got worse or Ryan decided to bite his head off. "I'll see you around, Ryan." D.J. turned and headed toward the exit, deciding he had better leave Ryan alone just in case he did want some privacy in the room.

Ryan absolutely hated Camp. It was pure Hades to him; he was guessing that when he did go to Hades, for his Field of Punishment, he should just be put back at this Camp. All he was interested in was fighting and becoming a good warrior. That, plus wanting to tick other people off was his goal in life. He almost never was in a civil conversation with anyone, it almost always ended in a fight. Right now, he was having a hard time believing that this boy infront of him was his 'brother'. Naturally, Ryan hated all his siblings, he hated his father and he hated everyone who was supposedly related to him! They never did anything for him. They never gave him any gain, only loss. Wanting and caring for friends and family was long gone. Ryan had finally realized that it was just better to go it alone.
The fifteen year old shrugged and rolled his eyes. It was pretty horrible to him. He snorted and shook his head. "That's near impossible for this Hades of a Camp," he growled. He glared at his 'brother' and just nodded icily as the older introduced himself as DJ. Ryan acted like he didn't care at all, and most of the time he didn't. But names, Ryan was sort of just letting them drift in his head. He didn't really care about putting names to faces, but if DJ was mentioned, Ryan would probably catch on sooner or later that they were talking about his older 'brother'. Ryan nodded. "Bye," he growled icily.
