~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It had been two weeks after her talk with Lady Hecate at the lake, before she couldn’t take it anymore. She was off. Sophia had gotten the a-okay from Chiron about leaving the camp. Surprisingly alone. After the showing Chiron the page, he didn’t seem to argue. It saying alone with the golden pentagram had to mean that the goddess must knew what she was doing. After showing this to him, and after packing, she noticed that the pentagram had sat on the page now, on a golden chain on the paper. She figured this was a gift. After packing her back pack she sat down looking at the map before putting it away. After leaving a note to tell her fellow cabin mates that she would be gone for awhile, leaving who was next older in charge until she got back, she went to the door of the cabin with her brown-golden bow tucked away with her matching arrows. They looked hidden but with a gift from her father, she could easily grab each and defend herself if need be. Thanks to the mist a mortal wouldn’t be harmed by these special arrows.
She had met a ride at the top of the hill for her and she left. Sophia decided to make her way to New York. New York City, New York. She figured she would see her step-father before she took off, officially. But would he want to see her? After all these years? After the death of her mother, he wouldn’t even look at her then. So why would he now? Thoughts rolled through her mind as she made it to the city. Making sure she had everything from mortal money to drachms, she was set. She got out of the vehicle and watched it drive away. Okay, she could do this. Sophie looked up at the apartment building, that her father, or step-father, lived in. Taking a breath, she went inside to where a lady with bright blonde curly hair, with purple and pink highlights, sat. She looked like mixture of a airline pilot that worked at Hot Topic store. She waited her turn before the lady asked her. “Hello, how may I help you?” “Hello, does a Lucas Greene live in this building?” “Yes he does. Would you like me to call up and see if he is home?” Sophie nodded a Yes, please and waited. A few minutes later; “I’m sorry, he doesn‘t seem to be home. He should be getting off of work and home about an hour or so. Would you like to leave a name, number and message?” The woman sounded like a answering machine. “Um no thank you and thanks anyway.” Leaving she found her self disappointed. Yes, she could have waited but she thought better of it.
Sighing she looked around. *Where to now?* she thought to herself. She began walking until she made it to central park and took a seat. Since it was the middle of summer, family’s where hanging out here and there, playing games and just have a swell time. Sighing she looked away. Placing her bag next to her, she looked at a map of New York and then the map Lady Hecate had given her, trying to make up her mind where she wanted to go.
Alex was wandering around New York City. He was lost, no doubt about it. Lost and he had a bunch of headaches after leaving his mom's place. It seemed like he was dizzy to confusion at some points. His brain felt fried. Even though he had lived in the City, he had lived in a different part. This part was not his territory; he had no idea how things worked around here. He seriously needed to go somewhere where there was a map or something. Alex had rejected the sword that his mom had wanted to give him. Honestly, what good would a sword do in New York? Everyone would be looking at him like he was a freak show or something. Besides, he wasn't that good at it. He hated blade fighting; he much preferred kung fu and martial arts. Alex looked around; he looked into windows of different shops, seeing what people were selling. He hadn't done that in a long time.
To be honest, he was sort of bored just wandering around this city that he had no idea of. There was a lot to look at and stuff, but it could be frustrating. He did have some money from home, but that was it. He had to be careful about spending it. Besides, he needed some more; time to do some more bottles and cans. The mortal remembered seeing a park around this place. It was called Central Park and well, it should be center of the city... right? He started walking; eventually, he came to the park. The water geysers were shooting water up and Alex wished he could run in and get wet. True, he was sixteen and everything, but he never passed up a chance to get wet in a fun place like that. He would have to come back after collecting cans and bottles and do it!
He started to look into garbage cans and take out some bottles of empty soda. Hopefully people wouldn't look at him like he was mental. Probably not... hopefully not. The mortal began taking out bottles of water and soda. Every once and a while, he'd look around to look at the people who were there. His goal was to get a bagful of cans and bottles, redeem them, then go play in the water geysers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sophia sighed. Okay well that didn’t go as she planned. Looking at the two maps she had to decided where to go. She was in New York City. She wanted to get to Greenville, IL. Her very small time, where she grew up in. But how would she get there with out the risk of being attacked along the way? Sophie had her bow so she was good there. Hearing something above her head, she looked to the sky. A jet it seemed. There that was it! Fly! She looked threw her bag looking for mortal money. That wouldn’t leave very much for the places and things she wanted to do. Oh well, she would figure out something. Some way to get there.
Her stomach growled and she looked at her watch. 11:45 am. Lunch was being served at the camp right now. Sighing she grabbed an apple, in her bag and looked at it. Blah she sort of wanted real food. The camp didn’t serve so called junk food. Yum. Now that sounded good. As she got up her bag ripped. Again. This time it was the other strap. Grr. She bent down to pick everything up and looked around. Maybe in one of the shops she could find a cheap one. Maybe at a good-will store or something? After picking everything up she picked it up by the handle and sighed. New bag and food AND this was New York City. It was expensive. Oh well.
She began walking, ignoring the many families around. Sophia looked at the different shops and restaurants around. Surly there was a cheep places somewhere? The handle broke. Grr. She gave up and just put everything in her duffle bag for now. As she went over to throw her useless bag away she noticed a nice looking dressed guy going threw the trash. “Hello,” she replied to him, setting her book bag down my the cans. “Um do you need any help finding something?” she asked. Though you shouldn’t talk to strangers, especially if you were a demigod because that was way dangerous then normal, but he was mortal she could tell. And he looked safe to approach.

Alex's hunt for the demigods wasn't going well. Like he needed reminding. The mortal spent most of his days just looking, watching for some sort of sign. He wasn't sure what he was looking for. It wasn't like the demigods would just come out and announce themselves or anything. Alex sighed, telling himself to get a grip. He just needed to be more patient was all; he'd find them, eventually. Alex wondered what his mom was doing now. That thought had scared him for quite sometime. What did she do when she had no one to mentor and boss around? The sixteen year old shivered; whatever it was, he didn't think it was good. That was just taking the information he knew about her.
He looked at his watch, it was almost lunch time. Alex still had money, but not that much. That was why most people would see him collecting cans and bottles now. Alex made a mental list. First: Collect and redeem bottles and cans. Second: Play in the geysers. Third: Get something to eat. That plan seemed pretty good to him. He took out the money from his pocket. He only had $26 left. Alex seriously needed to get collecting and he had to get a job somewhere for a few days for something. It was expensive in this city; he tried to drink from the water fountains as much as he could. Food was another issue. He didn't want to live on McDonald's or Wendy's at any cost. No way; their food was slightly on the disgusting side. Maybe he could get enough money to buy a fire pit and his own food. After that, he could cook his own meals, perhaps. If things worked out.
The mortal continued to pick up empty cans and bottles and glass as he went from trash to trash. Right now, he didn't really mind if he looked weird. He was doing this because he needed to eat and live. He was snapped out of his searching as a voice reached his ears. Alex looked up to see a girl near him. He snatched up an empty bag and started to put in the cans and bottles he had collected. "Hiya," he said, looking up at her and smiling. True, this was a stranger, but she looked rather kind. "Uh, no, not really..." he said, slightly hesitant. What would he say? Tell the truth and say that he was looking for demigods? He would of sounded crazy, especially if it was just another innocent mortal. "You?" he asked. Then he cracked a grin. "Then again, I can't really help... I'm not from these parts and sorta lost."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sophia smiled a little. He didn’t seem crazy. Oh! Maybe he was a recycler caring about the environment!?! Here she thought all mortals where the same. Wait so off topic, sorry about that, must be her ADHD kicking in. Any who, back to the conversation. “Uh not really,” she replied honestly. She smiled again. “Oh its alright. Maybe we could help each other out then? I sort of need a new bag for travel, if you can’t tell.” she replied looking towards the many shops again. Just then her stomach growled yet again. “And maybe a cheap bite to eat, somewhere” she smiled again.
The boy looked to be about a year or so younger then her, and was clearly mortal. So why did he look so familiar? It was his eyes that caught her attention the most. A sweet brown color. The shape she had only seen once. Was it Ryan?? Nah. He seemed to nice to be related to him. Then again of course there was siblings who were not blood related. One having both mortal parents, another with one. “If it helps, I have an extra map?” she suggested, pulling it out of her back pocket and handing it to him. “I sort of have a habit losing things I need the most.” she replied feeling quiet embarrassed about it. “So what part are you from?” she asked, curious. You would think if you lived in New York City or even in Manhattan all your life you would know your way around. He even looked like he lived here is whole life, but you could never officially tell. She held out a friendly hand. “I’m Sophie,” she replied kindly introducing herself.
(Note:: Sorry this is a bit short!)
Alex smiled at the girl in front of him. She seemed nice enough. Probably just another fellow mortal though. Nothing like he was looking for, oh well. He'd get money and some food and then try and move on with this crazy search. The mortal smiled at her. "That sounds great!" he said as she said that perhaps they could help eachother. He had been told not to talk to nor trust strangers, but quite frankly, he hated that rule. Everybody was a stranger until you met them. If you lived like that your whole life, you'd know no one. Besides, this girl seemed very nice. The sixteen year old looked at her bag. "Yeah," he said, he picked up the plastic bag of cans and bottles that he had collected so far. "Do you need help carrying anything that dropped out?" he asked with a kind smile. Alex couldn't really afford to buy anything right now. Okay, maybe he could, he had $26, but he'd like to have a bit more money with him before he went spending it. "Yeah," he said, nodding in agreement as she mentioned something to eat. "But I'm going to try and turn these in for money first," he said, holding up his bag of recyclables.
As the sixteen year old looked at her, she seemed to be a bit older than him. Perhaps by one or two years. He saw her looking directly into his eyes. They were brown, like Kath's. Alex began wondering how much he resembled his half brother and how much his mother. It was still a really weird thought that he had a demigod half brother, but it was true. "Oh, really?" he asked, watching her as she pulled out a spare map. "Thanks!" he said, smiling at her. "It'll really help," he said. Alex couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "Nah, that's fine!" he comforted her, giving her a soft smile. "Well, I started up north and I used to live in the Bronx," he said. He had visited New York City and Manhattan a few times and loved it. Not as much as wanting to stay here on no end. He smiled and took her hand, shaking it. "Nice to meet you, Sophie," he said. "My name's Alexander, but you can call me Alex if you'd like."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Alright sounds awesome,” she smiled to him. Sophie actually had to look up as he was taller her. Well most people were. After all she was only about five foot four. He seemed nice, not at all like normal human being. She looked at her now empty bag on the ground and back up. “Nah its alright, thanks. I just sort of shoved everything in my duffle bag for now. I had a feeling it would give out soon. I’m glad I grabbed my duffle before leaving,” she replied with a smile. Sophie felt a cold breeze on her neck, as a cloud was hiding the sun. Dang. Though it had been the first in two years, she quickly looked around. No. Monsters were not going to ruin her first day outside of camp. “Um alright,” she replied. “Mind if I join you?” she replied looking back at him.
Sophie nodded. Really interested. Bronx? She never heard of it nor been there. But then again she never really had been anywhere. Now would be a great time to travel. She wished Hayden was there too. They were suppose to be partners when it came to traveling. Sighing silently, she made herself mentally promise to remember -or try to remember everything- to tell Hayden everything major that happens. If she couldn’t, she would write it down in her journal. That way she could remember everything to get to on her way to Los Vegas. But she wanted to travel first hand, incase she never got the chance later. Tennessee, visiting her home town Greenville, IL to see if her old house was still standing and maybe some other places as well. Hopefully she would have enough money.
“Nice to meet you Alex,” she smiled a little shaking his hand. Sophia adjusted her duffle bag and looking carefully around. Tucking another piece of hair behind her ear, she felt the sun come out once more, and she felt safe now. She carefully lowered her hand from behind her back, where her bow was fast to receive. IT would have been better to grab it over her back, but with mortals around, it would have looked weird. Whether it was her father watching her -she wouldn’t bet on it- or the amulet, but she felt safe. Looking at him, she began to walk. “Um so shall we get going then?” she asked with a gentle smile.

Alex gave the girl a smile. "Great!" he said happily. He was sick and tired of being alone, anyway. Despite being with his mother, he had felt alone there as well. Having another person who was kind was great to have around, he had missed human company. The mortal noticed that this girl was slightly shorter than him and he couldn't help but grin. She looked a bit older than him, yet she was shorter. Oh well, age didn't really matter to him. What mattered to him was in you rather than what your outward appearance was. "Oh, no problem," he laughed, grinning at her. "That's good you decided to bring it then," he nodded. Alex looked up as a cool breeze blew past, oh well, that was just the weather and how it worked. The girl beside seemed to tense in the slightest and looked around. "You alright?" he asked kindly. Kath had told him about monsters, who just went after immortals and demigods. Monsters wouldn't be here, now. They were just mortals! "No! I don't mind at all!" he said, genuinely happy. "I'd enjoy the company."
Brooklyn and Bronx... sometimes he mixed them up. No, it was the Bronx. Embarrassing thought that he mixed them up when he had lived in the Bronx for around seven, almost eight years. The part of the Bronx that he had lived lived it was the part that connected with Manhattan. The day of the battle of Manhattan, he had been visiting his aunt (on his dad's side) and had sort of seen that part where all the statues had come to life and everything. After that visit, he stayed quiet for a while (two weeks); he had been thinking he was going crazy. Then he finally told his father. That resulted in him being semi kicked out of the house. Alex wanted to know more, so he went to find his real mother. Not that his father ever lied about Alex's mom or anything, Derrick would just get sort of quiet and shut up when Alex asked. He left with $150 from his job at a gasoline station and from home savings, now he was left with $26. Most of the money had gone to food.
He smiled at her and nodded. Alex didn't have any weapon with him, he had left the sword that Kath gave him at her house. No matter what she said, he wasn't running around the city with a great big sword hanging off him! Besides, he was no good at it. Point two? It'd look weird to all the mortals around. He was a mortal (who could see through the Mist) everyone would just think he was weird. Also, he didn't want to give a threatening vibe off. When you had weapons attached to you, Alex took it as threatening. He hated fighting, and would only do so on defense. Blades? Forget it, only on total 'I'm dying right now,' resort. "Sure," he said, smiling at her. "Let's go," he said, adjusting the plastic bag. Maybe he could get her to play around in the geysers with him later.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sophie turned on the mortal, or Alex and smiled a fake one. Never better,” she replied. Sophia was a good liar about 10% of the time, when she needed to be. But other then that she was terrible. It was like when you were younger and “accidentally” broke something and your mother asked what happen? She could never lie! One it was not in her nature. Two, she was just really bad at it and start laughing or couldn’t stop smiling and three? Well the third was call it mother’s intuition. You know how your mom always knows your lying or know your every thoughts? Yeah, that was probably it ¼ of the time.
Sophie did now stay alert but not the crazy kind. Not like when people get paranoid and start to go crazy, thinking people *cough* monsters *cough* are out to get them. But regular alert. After her hand was loosened from her bow and down her side, she could feel herself relax a bit. Reason for never leaving her bow anywhere? It gave her comfort. All the time. Maybe that was why she was always practicing archery. To keep herself calm and collected. It was one of her most prized possessions, and honestly, she would feel really lost with out it. Thinking to her bag, She thought about the money. It helped, maybe. She would have to count it later. Sophie was getting really hungry now and looked around thinking of food, as that’s all her mind was on now, and knowing her, once her mind was on something it was hard to change it. She always thought that that was her flaw.
As passing the many restaurants, she could smell wonder-less food. Man a good double hamburger, only onions and ketchup with a medium coke and french-fries sounded SO good to her. But being with him, she would have to wait. As she began to walk with Alex there was a weird silence. Not weird as an awkward but just, well there was no really right word to describe it. So naturally she would ask a random question or whatever. “So…what do you like to do for fun?” she asked. Yeah that was random enough. Right?
Alex looked at her with soft brown eyes and titlted his head slighlty. "You sure?" he asked. He wasn't sure what made him say it, he had been sort of skeptical of if people were lying about conditions since he was little for some reason. When he was younger, he knew a boy who had lied and said he was fine all the time; he never was. Another friend saw through the lies, eventually making Alex see it too. He had also helped Alex learn more about reading someone's body language and facial expressions, something Alex had paid very little attention to when he was little. Now he was pretty good at it. Maybe that had made Alex a bit more sensitive to wheather people were lying about their condition or not. Alex himself was a pretty good liar and could sometimes be very convincing. He was pretty decent at acting as well; he could keep a straight face and usually not betray anything.
The mortal was now on sort of alert. Alex had ever been the paranoid type; even when Kath had started training him, he hadn't become paraniod at all. True, it was annoying and slighlty freaky when she'd just attack out of no where, but still, he managed to keep calm and stuff. Life wasn't enjoyable if you were always on guard, tense and expecting an attack every second of the day. Alex watched the demigod's hand return to her side. What did she have near her back that she'd resort to when feeling threatened? The sixteen year old usually just had his fists, but a few months ago, he had had a sword. It hadn't made him feel better since he didn't really like blades that much but that was what he had to fight with while at his mother's. He had ditched the sword. How weird would it look for him to be walking down the streets of NY with a great big sword strapped on him? He looked into his bag of cans. It looked like had had around enough for today. Alex just needed a cheep lunch, besides, this would just be back up; he still did have $26 after all. The question was, how fast would he spend that? This was the city, after all and nothing was cheap.
As they started to walk through the city, great food smells reached Alex. It reminded him of how his dad cooked. He wondered how his dad was doing, this was by far the longest Alex had ever been away from home. The two teens continued walking along the street and along side resaraunts. Some had the door open and the aromas of all the food came floating out. All these food smells were making him really hungary. For a while there was silence between him and the girl. She started to talk, naturally, Alex looked at her. "Well... I like doing Martial Arts," he said, smiling at her. "What about you?" he asked. He finally spotted a bottles and can's redemer and started putting them in. Okay, just finish this and then they could eat! Finally his bag was empty. "Alright!" he said giddily. "Food time!" he exclaimed happily, grinning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sophie nodded and played it cool. “Yep. I’m positive.” She smiled a little. She felt calm. Mainly because of the sun. Despite it felt warm on her skin she still felt a bit cold. *Father. I know you never answer or anything but please keep me and this mortal safe.* she prayed silently. Looking up to the sky she felt a “Apollo” glow around her. A glow only one of his children could feel. He answered? Wow that was a first.
“Really? That’s so cool! Me? Mostly archery. I love it,” she smiled. She could remember when she first thought about picking up a bow. First it was a play bow. Playing cowboys/cowgirls and Indians. She was always in Indian with her little fake bow. Even if it was fake. The sound of the word food brought her back to the present. “Awesomesauce! Because I’m starving,” she grinned. Yeah she had food in her pack but while she was here she might as well. Plus she needed to save it and plus she wanted food food. Not package camp food.
Sophie thought about what would happen after them eating. She really wanted to talk to her step father for some reason. It was a gut feeling. After all, he was the only family she had left. After exploring a bit she would go and see him, try him again before taking off either back to camp or out of the city. She thought about how the conversation would good. Hopefully well but she could only image it could be awkward. It had been three years since she had even seen him and now? Yes. Only awkward. What would they talk about? It was a bad idea that she should just forget. Sadly though, she couldn’t. Shaking her head mently she thought of food, trying to forget it all.
“So we should look around some place. Maybe someone would know where a place cheap enough were we could save some money?” She asked out loud in thought. Looking around she saw a few fast food shops. That was cheap right? “Any fast food you like?” For some reason the Apollo girl was in the mood for something gressy. French fries and a double hamburger and a coke sounded amazing to her. Words: 386 [/size]

Alex looked at her skeptically, raising his eyebrow. Once again, referring to the experiences he had had and then to his friend who had opened up his eyes. He had known someone who had always said he was fine, he never was. "Uh-huh," he said half disbelievingly. She had sounded a bit like she was lying when she had first made the claim. His face twitched down into a slight frown. "Alright then," he said, choosing to drop it. If she wanted to, she could tell him in her own time. He continued to walk down the street with her. Once again, he had to smile, it was nice to be in someone's company again.
He smiled. "Yup," he said. "Archery, huh?" he asked. "That sounds pretty cool," he commented, giving her a smile. "It's great that you love doing it." Alex knew that you learned better and were more accepting to learning when you liked the weapon you were working with. He knew that from experience. "I'm bad with anything with a blade tip," he confessed with a laugh. It was true, his mom had tried to teach him sword and he had proven to be horrible at it. Half of it was probably because he didn't really like fighting with a blade. He liked his staff and his fists. All he was good at was staff since they had had to learn staff for the weaponry part of kung fu, unfortunately. It was either staff or sword, so he had gone with staff because Alex was never interested in wielding a blade. He laughed as food was brought back. "Yeah, same here," he chuckled. Kath had been a pretty good cook, he had to admit. Being the way she was, he thought that the food was going to be horrible. Surprisingly, it wasn't and she hadn't even tired to poison him or anything.
Meeting Kath had gone rather well. Alex had thought she had been a pretty nice person by the looks of her. Then again, that's when he went wrong. That was a "looks can be deceiving" lesson. Sure, Kath looked nice, then that went out the window as soon as she tried to hit him with a sword. After that she was put under the category of a loony. Learning sword fighting with her had been intense, but that was okay, Alex didn't really mind. At least he hadn't gotten killed during trying to learn it. That was the positive side. It would of been easy for him to get really badly hurt and die, that could easily look like a training accident. Then again, there was no one to see them or witness it or anything. Her house was very isolated, it was around upstate NY in a very rural like area. The other houses were a mile or so away from eachother. One of them: Alex's old house, was near Kat's, with about a mile or two of forest between the houses.
"Yeah, we should," he said, continuing to look up and down the streets. "Uh..." he thought. His father hadn't really been the big person on fast food. Derrick usually cooked. "No, not really," he said. "I didn't have much fast food when I was little," he told her, giving her a slight smile. He didn't mind it, but his father just hadn't given him a lot of it. "Uh... no, you?" Alex asked. To him as of now: food was food. He was lucky if he got some.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He acted like he knew about her. Being a demi-god and all. But how could he know? That thought bothered her. She felt a gentle breeze on her neck and goose bumps began to form on her skin. She hadn’t delt with that for the past two years so that only had to mean one thing. Taking a look around, quickly, she looked at him. This was a mortal, so she didn’t want to see him get hurt. Why in the world would a monster be here now? Of all places? Of all times? That was not fair. It was true she was good with a bow and could protect herself from at least one monster, but that was when she was by herself. At least she got an actual warning this time. “So shall we go some place?” She asked quickly walking from where she was now. Anywhere but here would be nice and she tried playing it cool.
Sophie nodded. “Yeah. I love it. Its always been something I was good at. I’m one of the best at my summer camp and at school.” she replied. Making it seem like she was just a normal teen camp consular for summer camp. “I guess it was just learned it from my father. But it does take practice though.” Sophie then just realized that this had to be the first time she was actually thanking her father. Not to mention giving him credit for giving her this first gift. The second was just her golden brown bow and matching twenty-one arrows that never seem to be lost or broken. Not even damaged anyway.
He, or rather Alexander, seemed lost in his own thoughts. She was not the one to let people lose there train of thoughts. Sophie was one of those taking in the sites. There was a ton of people around and she was just taking mental pictures of everything. Hoping to remember so she could draw some things. Maybe write a story? If she would make it that long. “Um doesn’t really matter. Its just been so long since I actually had something considered greasy, and actual food like” Sophie smiled a little. She had that feeling again. A gentle breeze she felt on her skin and the back of her neck.
One Green one Brown she heard in the back of her mind. Sophie looked around again. Sitting on a bench was a tall man hiding his face behind the New York Times She caught a glimpse of his eyes. One a dark Brown; the Other a bright green. *Dang* she thought looking back at Alexander. “Um sorry but something as come up. I really should just be going. It was really nice meeting you and all.” she replied. Sophie kept a close, corner eye look on the man who slowly got up. “Well um…. I wish you all the best and I hope to see you soon!” After that she gave him a apologized look and took off. Wondering if she would ever meet up with her new mortal friend again.
Alex was beginning to feel a bit nervous. He couldn't deny that. That sudden gust of wind was freaking him out and giving him chills. After being attacked while with Hecate and being told that he was in a considerable amount of danger because he was seeing what he wasn't supposed to, he was a bit on edge. He was in danger for a mortal. He knew that demigods were in much more danger than him. Besides, how could a monster know if Alex could see through the Mist? It'd be so weird if they knew who were Sight mortals and who weren't. Then again, the way Hecate had said it, it seemed like they knew the difference. Alex really hoped otherwise. There was a chill around and it was highly freaking him out. The girl didn't seem that comfortable with it either. "Sure..." he said slowly, trying to pick up on her feelings. He started to follow her quickened pace. She seemed a bit edgy.
The mortal smiled at the girl. "Well, that's always good to have something that you excel at," he said. All of the sudden a thought struck him. What if that was a monster that was making the chill? Oh, great; why would the monsters be after him now? Unless... he looked at the girl. The way she had said Camp and school, at first he had thought a regular summer program with lots of physical activity. Honestly, how many summer Camps had archery as an option? Not many as he could remember. Either that or he hadn't gotten around to looking at a lot of summer programs. He looked at the girl again. Could this possibly be a half blood? It would explain archery and her uncomfortableness with the sudden chills. Alex thought for a second to ask her, then thought it would be very weird and it would be rather embarrassing if he got it wrong. He didn't know how he could duck out of that one if she really wasn't a demigod. Maybe he had just spent to much time with Hecate or something and he just had half bloods, monsters and the greek world implanted in his head. "Ah, cool," he said, nodding. "My dad taught me how to recycle and care for the earth," he said with a grin, holding up the bag of recyclables. His mind drifted. From her father? For some reason it switched back to demigod. Apollo, he was one of the twin archers, right? Best in her Camp and school? He was starting to think it was because it was becasue she was a daughter of Apollo.
All the sudden, he gave himself a mental slap. Why the Hades was he relating everything to the Greek Mythology world?! This girl could just be a mortal who had interests in archery! Gosh he was loosing it... he exhaled and looked around at the passing stores. He should not be thinking of her as different. She could be normal, like him. She could just feel chills in the wind as it whistled and whipped around them. She could just be a normal mortal girl... The sixteen year old laughed. "Oh, alright then," he said with a smile. He was flexible with where they ate, he really didn't mind. "That's fine. Its just that I just don't really know what's around here," he said truthfully. He seriously had to become better with knowing his surroundings. He continued looking for somewhere to eat.
Sophie seemed to go a bit odd on him then. "Really?" he asked, tilting his head and looking at her in concern. "Okay, nice meeting you too," he said with a smile, a slightly confused one. The mortal began wondering what had spooked her, she looked a bit on edge. "Same here," he called after her as she ran off. Half of him thought it very unlikely that they'd ever meet again. Come on, one in a million chance; then again, the world was full of surprises. The other half wanted to see his new friend again. Alex sighed and continued walking. Once again alone in the street.
