She is often seen as evil and yet great wisdom can be pulled from her. Not being really a part of the Olympiad, having come from the Titans.
A lover of solitude, Hecate was, like her cousin Artemis, a unmarried goddess, unwilling to sacrifice her independent nature for the sake of marriage. Hecate is very busy, as she has many roles and jobs, but she is generous and helpful.
Hecate ignores most of the Olympian gods, thou she is mostly kind to her cousin Artemis and Dementia, She used to be kind to Persephone but after time went past Hecate got more jealous that Hades chose such a goody two shoes, Childish goddess rather then a powerful one like herself. Hecate has always been supportive of the Titan's thoughts of how the world and Mount Olympus should be run.
Family:: Mother: Asteria. Father: Perses. Cousins: Artemis, Dementia.
History:: Hecate is a powerful goddess representing the aspects of the Triple Goddess: goddess of fertility and plenty; goddess of the moon; and goddess of the night and the underworld, which led to her evolving as the patroness of magic and Witchcraft. She mixed fertility with death to be used as earth power. She has been called supreme, both in heaven and hell. It is believed that even Zeus called on her whenever he wished to grant something to someone. Hecate is portrayed as the most powerful - who could give aplenty or destroy totally. She is said to have the power to bestow on or withhold from mortals any gifts she chose. All the secret powers of Nature were at her command. She had control over birth, life, and death. Because of her power in the three areas of nature, heaven and earth she was represented as a triple form.
She is most known as an underworld goddess; the Goddess of the Dark of the Moon, the nights that there is no moon and the world above is as dark as the world below. She was the overseer of the world of the dead. At night she traveled roaming the earth accompanied by her dogs, Hermes, and dead souls. Some say she sent demons from the lower world at night and that she causes nightmares and insanity, and was called "the Nameless One."
Because of her connection to the underworld, Hecate is often portrayed as having similar traits as those of Persephone. Hecate assisted Demeter in her search for Persephone and after their reunion became Persephone's minister and companion in Hades. Like Hades and Persephone, Hecate was never allowed to sit as a member on the council of Olympians. The Crossroads As Goddess of the Crossroads
nd it was at the crossways where three roads met where the Greeks left their monthly offerings. Offerings, particularly on nights of the full moon, were left at roadside shrines built in her honor, especially by those wishing this goddess of prophecy and magic to assist them on journeys. All those who embarked on a journey or a venture, war, adventure, harvest - anything, always offered their prayers to Hecate, for it was upon the crossroads that you would meet her.

Sample RP:: (if canon I'd like to see you as that character) Pulled from a hp site I was a member of:
The night sky was clear, stars speckled the sky above in a brilliant array of constellations that extended beyond the horizons above. A slight chill in the air was enough to call for a cloak, as such, Sarah had pulled one on before leaving the Slytherin common room. Pulling her hood up over her head she trotted down the walkway toward the Black Lake.
The time was around 11 p.m, and as such she knew better to leave the school after hours, but she could not think of sleeping, let alone stay in her shared bedroom, with the rest of the female Slytherins asleep, and not feel just a tad bit jealous, about how easy they could sleep. Suffering from a three-night insomnia, she would lay in bed reading, or walk the halls with the challenge of not getting caught. Nearly being nabbed by Flitch on several instances these past nights. Tonight was her night to walk the grounds. The lake was her favourite place to visit during the day, and as such, she would enjoy seeing the moon reflect on the rippling waters at night.
Pulling up the hood of her cloak as she walked down the wore path to the lake he looked ahead at the waters before her and sighed aloud. The sight was beautiful to behold, in her eyes. Wishing she had brought a camera she walked to a small crop of trees to find a place to set before she was caught walking out in the open. Reaching the trees she grabbed a low branch and pulled herself up into a sitting position and watched the moon dance on the waters and think to herself.
