Perhaps some would consider it a good sign that finally Annabeth’s empty silence turned into a dream. To her, she preferred the silence. The events since they’d arrived there - seeing Riley sacrifice himself, seeing Luke again, witnessing her greatest fear - had awoken a nightmare that had haunted her since those horrible events in the Olympus throne room two years ago. She had only just stopped having the dream around the beginning of that year, but no more. It was just like two years ago, just like every other time this dream visited her. She stood with Percy and Grover watching Luke’s final moment, hearing herself speak but not realizing she’d chosen to speak, feeling the tightness in her chest again like it was that very day all over again. And Luke fell still. But that was where the similarities to the real events ceased. Because that was when a boy appeared standing over the body just across from them, staring directly at her. No one else seemed to notice. The boy was Luke, no older than 14. And the look on his face was enough to make Annabeth shrink back; he looked hurt, angry, and unspeakably sad all at once. But his words, his words were what stung worse than anything. ‘I trusted you. And you lied when I needed the truth most. I’ll never forget that, or forgive it. You’re just as much a traitor as I was. Only I’m redeemed.’ With that, the boy, Luke, ran from the throne room out the demolished doors. She tried to call after him.Annabeth stirred, her voice in the dream coming out whisper-quiet. “Luke…”She would have run after him, but something stopped her. That something being Percy and Grover both dropping dead on either side of her. She clapped her hands over her mouth, holding back a scream. With a jolt, she woke up, and she couldn’t have been more happy to see Percy’s face right above hers. Too relieved to notice anything else, she sat up just enough to hug him tight. “Percy! Oh my gods, you’re alright!” After how hurt he had been in the images Phobos had shown her, and then the dream, she forgot for a moment that he was invincible and just held on to him, not wanting to let anything happen to him. And then she remembered the situation they were in. “Phobos!” she gasped and pulled away, suddenly wide-eyed, and looked around for the fear god. What she saw was less than welcoming though. Nick looked badly hurt. Phobos looked ready to finish him off. Luke-… Then she heard Phobos’ words. No. No, this wasn’t happening. Word Count: 472

Luke ran to the fighting figures, just in time to see the big guy fly right into the wall of the lighthouse. "Ouch...That's got to hurt" He thought, feeling bad for the Russian Demi god. He stood still as a statue as Phobos spoke to Nick. However it was that next moment that he heard Annabeths voice, she was awake! Thank the gods. He looked over in her direction to see her hugging Percy. He felt a small tug of pain at his heart, having not heard her whisper his name for any reason. However when he heard Phobos address him his heart dropped like a rock, kill Nick?! The distress at this thought showed on his face for a moment as he looked at Annabeth and Percy, but when he turned back to Nick and Phobos he had a sadistic smile across his lips.
" Gladly my lord.." He said as he did his best to ignore Nicks comment, he knew full well he could probably send him back to the underworld if he wasn't careful. Just he had to risk it. He saw that Phobos was still pretty close to the son of Zeus, this was his only chance. If he didn't take it now he would have to fight Nick and that would either end in the loss of innocent life or his own. He gripped the hilt of Annabeths dagger tightly, ignoring the sudden flash of daja vu from two years ago when he had plunged it under his arm. Just what had hurt even more then that when he did look back on it, was when Annabeth said I thought I loved you Luke, but you where like a brother too me. With one last look at Annabeth and Percy he turned towards the other two and charged.
He saw Nick raise his hand to try and shoot lightning at him, but the Russian then gripped his side in pain. Good, that gave Luke the opening he needed to get closer without getting fried. He was now close enough for an attack, he raised the dagger and plunged right for Nicks chest. However at the last second, he disappeared. It had been so close that there was now a small hole in Nicks shirt, but no blood. Less then a second later, the son of Hermes appeared behind Phobos and quickly plunged the dagger at his back around where his heart should be. Even though he knew it wouldn't kill him, he hoped it hit its mark and slow the bastard down.

Percy wasn’t focused on anything else but Annabeth. It was dangerous to take his head out of the battle like that but he needed to know that Annabeth was safe first. However a flying body caught Percy’s attention. His head jerked up in time to see Phobos play horseshoes with Nick. He needed to get in there and help his friend out. “Nick!” Percy called out. Percy moved to stand but then Annabeth stirred.
A smile of relief stretched his face that was until he heard the name that escaped her lips. It wasn’t Percy Annabeth had called for. It was Luke. His heart seemed to stop beating for a second and there was a sick feeling in his gut. It was like that dream he had was coming true. Things were bad enough that she hadn’t called out for him in his own dream but now here in reality back on planet Earth she still wanted Luke. Percy’s expression hardened. Even as Annabeth jolted awake he remained unmoved. “Yeah, you too.” He weakly returned the hug unable to really think of anything else but Luke’s name on Annabeth’s mind.
Percy stood up after the hug almost completely ignoring Annabeth. He wouldn’t sit back any longer. Nick was in some serious trouble and while the son of Zeus was large and mostly in charge it meant zip when you went up against a God. He swallowed hard and watched Luke wondering what his actions would be after Phobos had commanded Luke to kill Nick. Percy prayed that he hadn’t made a mistake in trusting Luke. Percy held Riptide in his hands and charged Phobos with more anger than he had ever felt in a long time. He was going to take his frustrations out on Phobos. Even if he couldn’t kill the God Percy wasn’t going to let that stop him from slicing and dicing.
Half way to Phobos his faith in Luke had strengthened as Luke plunged Annabeth’s dagger into the God of Fear. He held his breath for a second when his mind switched to Annabeth. Faith in Luke but Percy wasn’t so sure about Annabeth. He nearly fell when his mind caught up to the a line in the prophecy. Bone, spirit, and faith will break. He regained his footing and with more anger he continued his charge. Percy picked up speed raising riptide. He leapt into the air and brought Riptide down diagonally slicing at Phobos’ arm.
“The only thing to fear is fear itself, and a few pissed off demi-gods.” He spat and made another move to plunge his celestial bronze sword into the gut of Phobos.

Phobos heaved a sigh. Nick was certainly being a difficult demi-god. Self preservation meant nothing to these half-blooded idiots. If the son of Zeus valued his life he would just shut his trap and agree to follow along side Phobos and do what ever he was told. Was that really asking too much? Phobos chewed on his tongue and folded his arms across his chest.
“I know where he is and I know where he failed. I won’t be making the same mistake.” If Nick wasn’t going to join him he couldn’t wait to see the ground stain red with his blood. Whether or not the kid showed it or admitted it, there was fear in him and Phobos was drinking it in. Every living thing has fear, those who claim to be fearless are liars. From fear monsters are born. Everything lives and dies in fear. Phobos was in a world that was built for him, he just needed to step up and rule it.
“I would be stupid not to fear Zeus. But I’m not having him kill you because I am afraid, I am having Luke kill you so that you die knowing it wasn’t a god who killed you but one of your own. Demi-God on demi-god bloodshed. It’s the start of the end.” He replied coolly.
Phobos waited eagerly for the dagger to pierce through Nick’s heart but that moment never came. Instead there was a sharp pain in his back and Luke was nowhere to be seen. Then it clicked. Phobos cried out in agony as the celestial bronze slid into his back. Phobos jerked wildly to try and grab the dagger from his back and to smack Luke away. Before Phobos could realize what was happening, Percy sprang at him from the side like fish out of water and sliced him a good one on his arm. He growled and this time he blocked Percy’s second blow knocking the two off of him. Phobos glared at each of them golden ichor pouring from his wounds.
“I should have known.” Phobos said to Luke. His eyes burning with hate bore through the son of Hermes. “Once a traitor, always traitor. Nevermind though you have innocent blood on your hands again Luke. Your bother took his life so you could live, and we both know you don’t deserve it.”
Phobos turned now to Percy. “Percy Jackson. Mark my words when I say we will meet again but you will be staring up at me from the flat of your back!”
Knowing that he couldn’t take these half-bloods on in his weakened state Phobos fled. He vanished in his usual poof of yellow smoke. Despite the humiliating defeat, Phobos thought of it as an interesting gain. He felt a new fear radiate off of Percy before he left. Things were going to change now that Luke was back, it was just a shame he would not serve in the war. Phobos would have to continue his search for his demi-god champion.

To say Nick was in deep trouble would be probably putting it nicely, both his sides where absolutely killing him and he had a seriously annoying headache. He had to focus a bit to register what Phobos was saying to him, he couldn't help but smirk a little when he noticed he was getting on the guys nerves." Oh yeah, I'm sure you do...That's why your using the same croanies as him." He said as he motioned to the son of Hermes, who was holding back the urge to say something about that croanie remark. Though as he continued, Nicks jaw tensed and he looked over at Luke. This could not end well..." Well if that's how you want it Phobos, Ill be sure to take you champion with me!" He said threw his teeth as Luke charged.
He lifted his hand and tried to shoot lightning at the demi god, who was only getting closer and closer to him, damn that kid was speedy. Just instead felt a sharp pain shoot up his side and he grabbed it, making a hissing noise threw his teeth in pain. He tried to get another shot out, but it missed Luke by inches and the son of Hermes just got closer. Well he knew this was it, dying on his first quest. Joy! He shut his eyes tightly, picturing his mom who he hadn't seen in two years and probably wouldn't see again now. He also pictured Gail, the daughter of Athena who no matter how much he would want to deny it, had him completely mesmerized.
He waited, waited for the pain and then end but it didn't come. It was when he heard Phobos yell in pain that Nicks eyes snapped open and he saw Luke bury the dagger into the gods back. He said a silent thank you to the gods of Olympus for keeping his ass in one piece." Show him who's boss!" Nick said in a strained voice as Percy gave Luke a hand, he would of tried to help with lightning...or something but he wasn't one to trust his aim right now. Nick let himself lean against the lighthouse for support and once Phobos was gone, not without a threat an a hateful look. The son of Zeus let himself slid down the wall of the lighthouse until he was sitting in the mud, the rain was slowly letting up and Nick for the first time felt like he could try and rest for a second before he fell down. He was leaning his head back with his eyes closed for a moment before he opened them and looked around." Everyone in one piece...?" He said as he searched the clearing for his friends, even though as he asked this the bottom dropped out of his stomach when he thought of Riley. What was he going to tell Sami?...

There’s nothing that can give one an unpleasant first impression like… well, everything that was going on. First of all, Percy seemed far from pleased to see her, which wasn’t encouraging. He barely made an effort to hug her back, and his voice seemed so… hollow. When she pulled away, she only got a glimpse of his face before he stood up like she wasn’t even there. And it wasn’t pretty. He looked almost angry. Maybe he was just determined. Yeah, that must be it. It’s not like he would be mad at her, right? She hadn’t done anything. Taking hope in that, she stood up as well, rubbing a sore spot on the back of her head. Dang, what had happened? Curse Phobos, she couldn’t remember a darn thing since he’d taken his glasses off. Well, minus the vision that was sort of hard to forget, which, really, she’d rather not remember anyway. Annabeth was ready to go help when she realized she had no weapon. Minor details like that. But she stopped in her tracks anyway when she saw what was going on. Second thing that makes waking up in this unpleasant little battlefield about as pleasant as waking up in the Fields of Punishment: Luke about to kill Nick. Annabeth couldn’t move. She just stood and stared at Luke. He couldn’t be doing this. No, it just wasn’t possible. “NICK!” she shouted, like that could really help. Oh gods, this was not happening! But then… it didn’t. Luke was gone. Nick was alive. And Phobos was yelling like a banshee. She looked to the god of fear and was surprised to see Luke with a blade buried in the god’s back. He hadn’t betrayed them after all. She couldn’t help but smile slightly. Percy, of course, rushed off to fight, leaving Annabeth on her own. And not really having a weapon was getting to be a pain already. So she turned her attention to Nick instead. Giving Phobos, Percy, and Luke as wide a berth as logical, she ran to the bushes they’d been hiding in where she’d dropped her bag and grabbed it from the brush before running back to Nick and dropping to her knees at his side. “Nick, hold on, you’re gonna be okay. Just hold on.” She dug in her bag. Curse it, where was that stuff when she needed it!? She was pulled from her search by Nick’s voice and she looked up and around. She’d been so preoccupied with this she hadn’t even seen that Phobos was gone. She watched Percy and Luke for a moment, wondering the same thing as Nick had voiced. That, and it was still strange to see Luke standing there, alive. Though not strange in a bad way. After a second, she remembered what she was doing and reached back into her bag. Finally she pulled out a bag of ambrosia squares and broke one in half, handing it to Nick. “Everyone but you, it seems. Here, eat this.”Word Count: 536

He had actually hit his mark! He silently thanked the gods as he heard Phobos yell in agony. You deserve all of it He thought bitterly before he saw Percy running at Phobos. Though as he tried to get the dagger back again, he felt himself being smacked into the mud. Luckily he had the dagger in hand. He quickly got back to his feet in time to see Percy go after Phobos, he was able to get a couple more hits before he to got hit away too. Luke inched closer to Percy as the god of fear glared at them both. Even though he didn't dare look into his eyes, the young demi-god could feel the hate coming off him in waves. Just he didn't care, the only thing he was worried about is if anyone else got hurt...He couldn't let that happen. However at the gods words, Luke stiffened. He knew he didn't deserve to be breathing, he knew it all to well. However he didn't answer the god, he just stared down at the ground and tightened his grip on the hilt of Annabeths dagger, doing all he could to not attack again.
However when he looked up again, Phobos was gone. Coward! Luke thought for a moment before he looked around. It wasn't long before his eyes fell on what, or well who he was looking for. Annabeth was over by the lighthouse looking over the son of Zeus." I hope he is going to be alright." Luke said out loud, more to himself then anyone else though. He just watched the daughter of Athena tend to the wounded demi god for a moment, she was okay, she was alive. That was what mattered the most in the end to him. However he then snapped out of it and turned to Percy who wasn't to far away from him." You did good back there...Go make sure their alright? I'll.." He turned his head to look where Riley was laying." I'll get my brother, we cant really leave him here..." Luke looked at Percy one last time before he went over to his fallen brothers side. He looked down at his broken form, and felt his heart tighten." Why did you do it kid? You had a long life ahead of you....a sister who loved you.." He whispered as he knelt down, pushing some hair out of the boys face." Im sorry Riley, I know its not enough but if I could fix all of this I would.." He said gently as he lent down and placed his arms under the boys neck and knees before he got to his feet. His dead brother in his arms..." Im sorry.." He whispered once more before he walked over to the others, his expression mostly unreadable but his eyes where dark and cloudy, saddened. He didnt know what to make of anything right now...
When he reached them, he looked at them all." I can get us back rather quickly, we will just have to hold onto one another." After a moment he made eye contact with Annabeth for a moment." I can get us back to camp....safely." Or at least as safely as could be done now. He was mostly talking to her because he knew from when they talked in the dream this was her quest, her choice. So it was up to her whether he teleported them all back to camp.

Percy gritted his teeth as Phobos blocked his second attack and shoved him away. Keeping his feet firmly on the ground Percy glared at Phobos ready to take another flying leap at the jerk bag of a God. Percy was angry, or rather frustrated not only at Phobos but with the whole situation with Annabeth and the whole Luke thing. It felt nice to take it out on Phobos. He glanced over to Luke as Phobos addressed him. Percy felt sorry for the guy but didn’t dwell on the feelings too much as Phobos was now speaking to him.
Despite what he was the God of, Phobos did not scare Percy. Percy had fought him before and knew that beyond his ability Phobos was just another all talk no show God. He thought on Phobos’s threat and looked over to Luke. Smiling only slightly Percy received the comment. He watched with a heavy heart as Luke moved over to pick up Riley. Why had so many demi-gods gone over to the other side? He sighed and looked away unable to look at the broken body of Riley. It reminded him of Ethan and Percy didn’t want to add more to an already crowded and troubled mind.
“All except you.” He muttered to Nick walking over to his friend. He paused awkwardly hearing a similar comment from Annabeth. He stood staring down at Nick and Annabeth but he didn’t kneel down to see how the son of Zeus was doing. Percy wasn’t sure if he could look Annabeth in the eyes right now. “We’re gonna get you back to camp Nick and you’ll be okay.” He hoped.
“Thanks Luke.” Percy said turning to him. Glancing down at Riley’s body again Percy’s heart stopped for a second. He recalled the promise he made to Luke years ago. His eyes turned upward to Luke’s face. “I guess I wasn’t able to keep my promise.” Percy refused to look at Annabeth. He swallowed and tried to her voice out of his head. Normally he wouldn’t mind the company of her voice swirling around inside, but as the current song was “Luke” Percy wanted nothing to do with it. ((ugh that was terrible. i am so sorry -.-))

Nick sat up a little as Annabeth and Percy came over to him." Just me huh? What my luck." He tried to joke in a horse voice before he took what Annabeth had given him. He plopped it in his mouth, and it wasn't to long before he felt the cuts on his face closing up again leaving only blood and mud. He slowly tried to get to his feet, but winced as he held his side. Seemed he still had broken ribs, but he did have some of his strength back so he could make it home, he hoped.
He looked over at both of his friends as he leaned against the lighthouse wall, Percy was acting strangely. Nick couldn't help but notice that he wasn't even looking at Annabeth, and after spending days being Mr. Third wheel when it came to them as a couple. He saw this a strange, had he totally missed something? When the other guy Luke came over carrying Riley, the bottom dropped out of Nicks stomach. They had failed Riley, and now Sami would never get to make things alright with him again.
The son of Zeus now felt even worse then he looked. All he wanted to do was sit back down on the ground and close his eyes and wake up back at their camp, none of this having happened yet. Maybe then they would of been able to save Riley, but he doubted this was a dream even if it had resembled a nightmare. Though when Luke spoke up about being able to get them home quickly he let out a small sigh of relief, he didn't really think he was up to a repeat of their journey to get there." I'm all for the ghost using his mojo to get us out of here." He said softly, his voice still sounding unlike his own.

Annabeth watched Luke go over to the still form of Riley lying in the distance. It was a rather depressing sight to see him pick up the dead body of his brother, who had sacrificed himself so Luke could come back to life. How hard it must be on him, she could only imagine. Her attention was pulled away from Luke by Percy coming over. Odd thing was, he didn’t even bother looking at her at all. “Percy? You okay?” though seemingly on cue, Nick winced and held his side. Great. The ambrosia hadn’t been enough. And she hardly had one bite’s worth left. This was just one complication after another. Luckily though, Nick stood up and seemed weak, but fine. At least one thing was going, well, better than awful.
She looked back to Nick. “You going to be okay? You can lean on my shoulder if you need.” She turned her attention back to Percy, who seemed to be pretty much acting like she wasn’t there at all. There was no pretending she wasn’t more than a little hurt by it, but that was a matter for a different time. Maybe she’d talk to him when they got back. See what was on his mind. Something in the corner of her eye made her look around to where Luke was approaching. He looked so sad, though she didn’t blame him. She nodded slightly, glancing at Nick at his comment before looking back to Luke. “Alright. Let’s get out of here…” She wasn’t fully sure what he had in mind, but she trusted him to know what he was doing.
