Hayden was more than content sitting at the side of the lake, his feet submerged in the icey cold water. Well that was probably untrue. The heat was less than exciting, and the chill of the lake was almost too cold. It was steadily increasing to 90 degrees which was much hotter than Hayden preferred. He enjoyed 60 degree weather without a breeze. In his opinion, that was the perfect day in terms of temperature.
The boy was wearing simple apparel, a pale grey t-shirt with forest green basketball shorts. He had been wearing that same style for weeks now, because it was comfortable. He was less concerned about being stylish and more concerned about being comfortable. A pair of athletic shoes were laying off to the side where he had kicked them off. The boy had just come from practicing hand-to-hand combat. He was definately good at it, and that would eventually come in handy, but he still didn't like practicing on the other demigods.
One earbud was tucked in his left ear, music playing from his iPod. It had been one of the things that Naomi had sent in his first care packages. It was a couple years old, and extremely beat up. The only reason the back of it was still intact was because he had taped it up with Scotch tape that had patterns of little Christmas trees. He knew he could probably ask Naomi to get his father to buy him a new one, but he really didn't want to ask his father for anything.
The song Hayden was listening to was one by Theory of a Deadman. Kind of a twisted band name, but they had some good songs. Hayden was staring blankly across the surface of the lake, completely zoning out. He felt kind of exhausted from the day's workout, but at the same time he felt a little restless. He felt kind of bad sitting there, maybe he could go and help out somewhere around the camp. The dining hall always needed cleaning for one.

Sophie whipped the sweat from her forehead on this hot but beautiful day. Setting her bow down and stretching she thought maybe she would go for a swim. Sophia loves this weather. She preferred this weather and a good swim. Running her hand through her hair, she felt the stickiness on her neck. It didn’t bother her though.
Making her way down she hadn’t noticed a guy by the lake when she kicked off her converse, socks and jumped in. The water felt cold and nice against her hot skin. After awhile, she swam up to the top and floated there for awhile with her eyes closed. Sophie let the fatherly sun shine down on her, making her bit tan skin glow.
It had been about five or ten minutes before her swam to the side of the lake and got up out of the lake by her shoes. Not really wanting to move from the warm spot, she laid there with her eyes closed in thought. The swim and the sun seemed to take away all the stressed that had been building up inside of her.
The Outfit but with converse instead

Hayden lip synched along to the song, not daring to actually sing out loud. He knew he was a terrible singer, that was obvious. The only time he ever sang was when he was surfing. Reason being was that no one could hear him over the crash of the waves. Though he rarely even sang then because he was usually only focused on the surfing itself. It took a lot of concentration to stay on the board.
It was odd that Hayden even noticed the girl at all. Somehow he had heard her splash in the water even with the music loud in his ear. She seemed completely lost in herself just as he had been minutes ago. Or at least that's what he had gathered since she didn't seem to notice him sitting there yet. The boy couldn't honestly say she looked familiar to him. The only thing that he could tell was that she most likely just came from practicing archery. Well actually it was obvious that she had been at the archery range. She wouldn't be carrying a bow if she hadn't been. Which most likely pegged her as an Apollo kid.
"Hello," He called out a friendly greeting as the other demigod waded out of the water. Her clothes were soaking wet with the lake water. He would have offered her a towel but he hadn't brought one himself. Hayden hadn't been planning on swimming and even if he had ended up doing so than he could have just went back to his cabin. Pushing himself to his feet, he walked over to her, sticking out his hand for her to shake. "Sorry if I startled you, I'm Hayden by the way,"

Sophie felt warm there in the sun and didn’t want to move from that spot. She was surprised that no one seemed to be around. Sighing she propped herself up. This was peaceful, why couldn’t it be this way 24/7? It would be nice. What a perfect day! She hoped that tonight was a nightmare free night as well. That would make her day.
Hearing someone approach, she ran a hand through her wet tangled hair and got up, still wet. He looked her age, or maybe even a year younger, she was not sure. He didn’t look familiar but still. There were a lot of campers new and old here, and this was her second summer. “Its alright. Not a problem. I’m Sophie.” she replied holding out her own hand.
Lately she had been meeting a lot of different people. She didn’t mind, she enjoyed it. “I don’t think we have met before. How long have you been at camp?” she asked trying to come up a conversation.

Brushing his messy hair out of his eyes, Hayden attempted to focus on the girl that he was talking to. Well technically it really couldn't be considered a conversation yet. He shouldn't have had to focus all that hard, but his ADHD was acting up a little more than usual. Usually it wasn't much of a problem for him because he was much more concerned about making everyone around him happy.
"Nice to meet you, Sophie," He took her hand and gave it a gentle, but firm shake. He knew some girls hated having their hand grabbed too hard while others got fussy because they were all about girls are equal to guys. Hayden respected that and agreed with it, but that didn't mean that he couldn't be chivalrous all the same. Realizing that he was zoning out again, he slid easily back into a simple topic. "Would you happen to be a daughter of Apollo?" Hayden asked, gesturing at the bow that she had dropped earlier.
"About five years," The boy smiled in a laid-back friendly manner. Being social was an easy thing for him to do. It was one of those things that he had automatically gained from his mother. One of many personality factors. Not that he had ever actually met his mother, but he had heard various things and he figured that her title pretty much said it all. "How about you?"

He had a strong grip. So did she. She was one of the girls that liked being equal to guys. “Same. So did you come here just to think as well?” she asked standing up now, still wet. Sophie now had a braid in her hair down her neck. She nodded and smiled. “That obvious?” she asked holding her bow in hand. Sophie nodded. “Yes. A proud daughter indeed…well up until recently” she replied, muttering the last part.
“This is going on my second year. I’m an all year round camper” she replied. He seemed to have started the conversation well. That was good as she stunk at it. She too was like her mother that way. “Though since I’m a all year round camper, it feels like home and that I’ve always been here my whole life,” she shrugged with a smile.

Hayden shook his head, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "No, I'm much more simple-minded than that." He smiled jokingly, withdrawing his hand and tucking it into the pocket of his shorts. "I came down here because of the heat," He elaborated, rocking on his heels a little bit. Not because he was bored or anything, just because it happened to be a little habit for him.
"Eh, not really. I just kind of assumed." The boy shrugged, his thick British accent sounding very odd in contrast to her American one. So far he hadn't met one person in this camp that wasn't from the United States. Of course he didn't really expect that to happen. It was unlikely that Chiron would send satyrs over to different countries to find demigods. It was hard enough protecting them while they were in the U.S., but having to find a way to get them over to the U.S. would be even harder. "I'm also assuming that you don't want to talk about it?" Hayden didn't miss the negative wording even though she had said it much more quietly.
"So you actually enjoying it?" The demigod asked politely, knowing that she was one of few if she did. He wasn't sure if he enjoyed it himself. It was nice to have a place where you felt safe, but it also felt a little like he was trapped. He supposed he could've left, but the only place he could really go was back to his father's house and that wasn't exactly welcoming.

Sophie smiled then shrugged. “Well considering I’m not that good a song writing, which is sad, archery is all I ended up getting from my father” she said. It was true she could sing but when it actually came to writing songs or poetry she stunk. Nodding she replied, “Yeah It’s pretty hot here today” she agreed. She looked down a little. As she was being to talk. A lot. She did it when she was nervous. Problem was she didn’t know why she was. Looking up, she wished she hadn’t let it slip. “It’s sort of hard to explain.” Being a demigod should be a proud thing. Right? It depends. Right now she felt being mislead by her own father. She needed someone to guild her to what to do but as often as she prayed, no answer. From anyone of the wise and powerful gods and goddesses. Well unless you count the goddess of witchcraft… Nodding a little she sighed. I do love it here but lately Since the begging of the summer, I felt that there is so much more for me out in the world. Even if its only my second summer.” This was the truth. She really did love it here. It was home. But since the beginning of the summer, blah I couldn’t even explain it for her if she wanted me to.

"Well if it makes you feel better all I got from my mother is my personality. And I suppose some sword skills," Hayden assured her, no bitterness in his voice. He didn't have any arguments against his mother. He knew the gods were busy and it wasn't her fault that she wasn't the goddess of war or anything helpful in a fight. No offense meant to his mother of course. "She's the goddess of friendliness," He elaborated a little further, so that she would actually understand what he was talking about.
"If you ever want to talk about it, I'm open to listening," The boy offered gently. Most people liked to open up to him about their personal problems. He didn't really understand why, but people said it was because there was just something comforting about him. That kind of made sense since he was Philophrosyne's son and all. "Of course, you don't have to tell me," He added afterwards, not wanting her to feel pressured.
Hayden nodded in agreement, completely comprehending of what she was saying. "I'm thinking of skipping out next year once I turn 18. Figure then I can decide which is the better place for me. In here or out there," He explained, gesturing towards where the invisible property line was located a ways off.

“Well that can come in handy,” she smiled a little. It was true. Its like the sang you can kill more flies with honey then with vinegar. At least she probably answered his questions and prayers. Though the gods and goddess where confusing even if they did answer. At least they answered! Oh well, she was great full for her father. If not been for him, she wouldn’t be here at campy Half-Blood. She shrugged. “Its nothing really. Just a feeling but it’s nothing really,” she replied with a soft smile. “Thanks but I think its just one of those things I have to work out for myself.” Sophie really appreciate it. She really did appreciate anyone who tried to help or just let her rant but this seriously was her own problem to solve. Even if the only prayers she got answered came from well the goddess of witchcraft herself. Sophie nodded. She understood that completely. “Yeah I’m thinking that to at the end of the month.” she replied. She would be 18 then. “Problem is, I don’t know where I would go or what I would do. I wouldn’t have a place to go” she explained. It didn’t bother her but still it did.

"I suppose so," Hayden gave a small smile in response to hers. He really didn't mind his personality, in fact, he quite liked his positivity. It seemed that the population of nice, happy people was steadily decreasing. Which was almost understandable, because it wasn't like too many good things had happened lately. There had been a string of very bad occurences in the whole Kronos dealing. Then things improved for a little while, but it still wasn't the same as before the war.
The boy felt compelled to ask what this 'feeling' comment meant. Was she referring to a gut feeling sort of thing, or feelings such as anger and the sort? He didn't ask though, respecting the fact that she didn't want to discuss it. "Of course," Hayden nodded his head briefly. He understood working through things on your own. A lot of problems required that, most of his problems were usually like that. And it wasn't like he had a best friend to talk to about them with.
"Me neither, but that's always going to be true, it doesn't matter how old I get." He pointed out, wondering if his mother might help him out with getting started. It wasn't like there were a ton of Philophrosyne kids she had to worry about, and Hayden figured she would be happy to help. But at the same time, he didn't want to be mooching off her. He also knew that he had a big savings fund built up. His father contributed to it a lot, so he could probably find an apartment to rent or a hotel to stay at until he got a job.

Goddess of friendliness. That had to mean he was the son of Philophrosyne. At least that is what she thought. Sometimes she had fun trying to figure out some of people’s god parent. She was glad to see and meet so many nice people here. Hardly any people like Ares’ children. She liked that. Sophie nodded and ran a hand through her semi about five second later dry hair. There was an upside to being a daughter of Apollo. The sun seemed to dry her off faster. She was glad that he didn’t push. Nodding she sat down in the sun once more. “Care for a seat?” she asked looking to the lake. Sophie nodded again. “Yeah. Its going to be hard if I ever get out as I don’t have much out of the borders.” Sighing silently she begin to think. Who mortal did she know that could help her get out. “That’s the down side of only having a Olympian parent,” she replied. “No where else to go but here.”

Hayden nodded in response, taking a seat a small distance away from her. He spread out his legs again, letting them sink back into the shallow lake water. The feeling of the cold felt refreshing and soothing. It helped him think, or maybe the opposite. His mind was calm with the chill, almost collected. The boy wasn't a fan of the hot weather. He would prefer if it was 65 degrees with a breeze or maybe even while it was raining. Hayden was a fan of the rain, even if most people weren't. He liked the 'crappy' weather days.
"If I do end up leaving and I figure things out, I could help you out." He offered, scratching the back of his head uncomfortably. He was sure that he could make it work out, but he wasn't completely sure that she wouldn't be weirded out by his offer. Hayden wouldn't mind helping out, but he was technically still a stranger to her and he figured that she would find it a little odd.
The boy had always been one to help out. When he lived back in London he participated in a lot of volunteer projects. He had been planning to help out building houses when he got around to his current age, but he had left for camp instead. "I guess I could move back in with my dad, but he and I..." Hayden trailed off, fiddling with his fingers distractedly. "We didn't have the best relationship." He finished, leaving out his bad relations with his stepmother and stepsisters as well.

She pulled her now braided hair off to the side and looked at him. Sophie was in shocked a bit but her face shown brightly. Help out? Knowing Sophie and what she felt lately, she would jump at that or any offer out. This time she didn’t even hesitate. “Really?” she asked. “Well this may be strange as we just met and everything but I’ll take you up on that offer.” They seemed complete opposites. She loved the sun he seemed to well… hate it. More like the rain. To bad there was no rain. “Sorry I wish I could say as much” she replied. It was true. Who really got along with their mortal parents anyway? Though most probably did, she didn’t. Change of topic. “So…that’s a British accent isn’t?” That was really random but she was curious. It was a first Sophie ever met someone here who was not with and American accent. Well not to mention Aaron who was with an Irish accent but that was another story. “How long have you lived in England?” she then she apologized for the random questions and looked to the lake. (Occ: Sorry its so short)Tomboy all the way! xD

Hayden let out a gentle laugh. He admired that she didn't have a problem accepting help. Some people had too much pride for that. The boy didn't really understand that. If you needed help then you should just ask for help. Simple as that. He wasn't one for personal pride, but he did have his limits. "Not strange at all, I'm always happy to help," He smiled sweetly, not wanting her to feel uncomfortable or anything. Awkward moments weren't exactly the nicest. Hayden certainly didn't enjoy them. Which was fine because he could usually smooth them out with little effort.
"Sorry. Kind of ventured into a touchy subject, I suppose." He apologized, knowing that anyone here was a little edgy around the subject of parents. It seemed either you liked your mortal parent or you didn't. There was no gray in between. Hayden openly disliked his father. Just because he was nice to his father didn't mean that he liked him. It seemed that most people did favor their mortal parent though. And sometimes they hated their Olympian parent. It was the opposite for Hayden. He didn't like his father, but he really did like his mother even though he had never personally met her. "Yes it is," He smiled in acknowledgement. He knew that his accent was very thick and recognizeable. Five years away from his home and it still hadn't faded in the slightest. "I lived there for twelve years." He purposefully used the past tense. He hadn't been back to visit. Maybe in a little while, because he truly did love it there. "No need to apologize, you didn't do anything wrong."
