He had a laugh that you could melt to…wait what?! What was she thinking? No no no! She was not even going there. After all they just met and everything! No way was she developing a small crush on him. It was his accent really. Why was it that every time she met a guy with a cute accent she had to go ‘weak’ at the knees. “Cool and thanks. I always appreciate a little help here and there” she smiled, picking up a rock and studying it. It has marks on it like rays of the sun and rain all in one.
Sophie shrugged and nodded. “Its okay and understandable.” She loved her mortal mother dearly and wished she could go home to her. That was one of the worse things about being a demi-god. You only have one parent. Memories flooded back to her as she looked at the rock.
It would be a raining afternoon but enough brightness would be shining down on her as she would dance in the light but heavy rain. Heavy but bright outside as if her father shown down on her. Then she would sit on a swing under a tree with her mother. She shook away the thought.
“Really? That’s so cool. I’ve always wanted to go there. Or anywhere really” she smiled a little. Sophie looked down. “I tend to say that a lot. Out of habit, I guess? Sorry… I mean.. sorry…I mean” *Grr* she thought. She took her hand and moved it like a zipper and lock on her mouth and set it beside her.

Hayden nodded in acknowledgement, a small smile acting as his 'you're welcome'. He figured he didn't really need to say it because he hadn't technically done anything for her yet. "Always happy to help," Which was utterly true, and usually obvious. That would probably be a plus for him if he did end up leaving the camp. Community service looked good on a job application, and maybe a college application if he decided to go in that direction. Though that would be difficult since he technically hadn't been in school for a very long time. Maybe he could say he was home schooled, but he didn't particularly like lying.
"Still, I'm sorry." He repeated quietly, sensing her sadness even though she hadn't really expressed it. Trying to lighten the mood, he flicked a splash of water at her. A mishievious smile graced his lips. In his opinion it was always best to keep the mood as happy as possible in the camp. Otherwise the depression and anger started to become too much for people.
"It's really beautiful there," The boy responded truthfully. Although the camp had its own beauty as well. Less buildings, less people and just all around more natural. The nature was what made it beautiful to him. The fresh smell of the trees, the green grass, and especially the unpolluted lake. It was hard to find a place anywhere similar to Camp Half-Blood. Sometimes that was a positive thing and sometimes that wasn't. Hayden laughed at her mouth-zipping gesture. "You have nothing to apologize for." He insisted, noting that her multiple apologies reminded him of himself.

Sophia smiled a little and looked to the lake. This had to be the first time she felt happy in awhile. Just sitting down and talking to someone to clear her mind. It helped that there was a warm sun signing down on her. She would have to think her father for that, as it always helped. “Now you sound like me. Really its okay. don’t worry about it. ” she smiled. She jumped at the sudden splash of water at her. She then splashed him back and laughed.
“Is it? I always imagined it would be” she replied looking at the stone in her hand again. How or what would make a stone like that anyways? She looked around a minute wondering where it had came from. Surly someone had left it here. Maybe? “I guess its just a bad habit of mine. Sor-” she cut herself off before she could apologize yet again, and she looked down.

Hayden smiled thankfully, amused at her accusation. They seemed a lot alike in his opinion. Both of them were enthusiastic, overly nice and seemed to apologize way too frequently. "Unfortunately, telling me not to worry about it is very inaffective." He informed her truthfully. The apologies came to him instinctively, and somehow he could never stop himself from saying sorry. Even if it was annoying the person he was talking to. He chuckled quietly as she flicked water back at him. Sadly this was probably one of the happiest conversations he'd had with anyone for a while. Everyone here was all doom and gloom. Sure his t-shirt was now effectively wet, but he didn't see it as a big deal. So he aimed a small splash of water at her face.
The boy nodded his head vigorously, recalling the day he had left. It had been raining that day as if the gods knew it would cheer him up. London still looked beautiful despite the fact that rain was in constant downpour at the time. It almost seemed to accent all of the city's features. "You should go visit there some time," It was a suggestion, but he wasn't sure if she'd listen to it. He only figured she wouldn't because of financial issues and the whole parents problem. "Habit of mine, as well." Hayden assured her, smiling at her to know that he hadn't meant to make her feel bad about it.

“Well…really its alright. I prefer not to have people worry about me,” she said honestly. It was better that way. At least she thought. If people worried about you all the time or even at some of the time, you would have to be extra careful not to hurt yourself as long as them. She jumped a little, not expecting to get wet a second. “Now your asking for it,” she laughed. It was a good thing they were right there at the edge of the lake otherwise it would have been very hard to do what she was going to next. With the strength that she had she pushed him into the lake and laughed jokingly. “How’s the water?” she asked with a smile sitting down again. She dipped her feet in and couldn’t stop laughing and smiling.
Sophie nodded, keeping mind that she would try. That was her dream. To travel the world. Find what she had been missing in her life. One day she would get there, whether it was an impossible dream or not. She smiled. It seemed that they a lot a lot in common. That had to be a first for her. To find a guy like her in so many ways. Of course Jay, her brother, didn’t count as they were related anyways.

"Understood," Hayden sided with her. It was nice that people were honestly concerned, but it was only nice to a point. Past that point it was just a little annoying. The demigod never showed that though, since he didn't like to hurt people's feelings. And plus it didn't annoy him that much. Hayden wasn't easily angered or annoyed. He was an enthusiastic, happy camper[literally on the camper part]. He smiled as mischieviously as a sweet boy like him good. His clothes were dripping wet with lake water, but he ignored it. "Lovely, thanks for asking. Maybe you'd like to join me?" The boy suggested, but he didn't wait for a reply. Reaching out, he grabbed one of her legs that was dipped in the water and pulled her in the water next to him. "Oh I'm sorry," He apologized insincerely, laughing all the while.
"Where's the place you want to visit most?" He inquired, wondering what his own response to that question was. He hadn't really traveled anywhere besides to the United States and wherever it had been that he had had layovers on the way over. Hayden wouldn't mind visiting California, or maybe Georgia. He had heard that both were fantastic places for surfing. Also Fiji sounded beautiful as well. His step-mother had visited there once and she had bought a bunch of travel books for it. Hayden had been bored one day so he had ended up reading them, and browsing over the photos. It seemed like a gorgeous place to visit.

Sophie was cracking up laughing. “Nahh. I hate to say it but I think you are just a little over heated. You needed to cool of-” but before she could finish she was being pulled into the lake as well. She laughed and splashed him. It was like they were kids just messing around and having fun on this hot sunny day. Hey, maybe her father had planned it that way. The last time they spoke, the other morning when the sun rose after talking to Lady Hecate, he told her to stay lose and have fun while she could. Maybe this was a sign? She didn’t know. All she did know was she hadn’t had this much fun in a long time. That was just sad.
Sophie sat back against the shore, still in the water and looked up to the sky. “To be honest? Anywhere. If I could. I would travel the world. Italy, London, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico, Greece just to name a few.” She thought about what it would be like to live and just be in those places. It would be the art that would get her. The music. But mostly the people. She really liked culture a lot but picture taking most. It seemed like whatever the sun hit, she wanted to be there. But I guess, what would you expect of a daughter of Apollo? A daughter with the only gift of archery? She had to do something, so why not dream of travel?

"I disrespectfully disagree," Hayden replied, his voice teasing and light. In response to her splash, he shook his now wet hair out, flinging drops of water everywhere, even on Sophie. Gabrielle had been right, he did closely resemble a golden retiever in personality. Except he hoped that he was more intelligent than a dog. "I think that you were the one who was over-heated, little Apollo girl," He offered, laying down in the water, figuring it didn't really matter now since his clothes already needed to be switched out when he got back to his cabin. The boy hadn't actually been planning to get wet so he hadn't brought a towel along, but he figured it wasn't really necessary anyways.
"Tell you what, if you decide to go to the Bahamas or Mexico then you can count me in," Mexico sounded the most interesting to him. Sure Greece would be interesting because of their ancestry and all, but honestly Mexico was the one that caught his interest. The people there were so exotic and expressive. They didn't really seem to care what anyway thought as long as they were having fun respecting their own culture. That was probably the reason why he liked it best. "And if you need one, I can be your tour guide for London," Hayden smiled sweetly. He had had a lot of time on his hands so he had done a lot of exploring in London. He knew the best restaurants, the most beautiful scenery, and the most interesting places to go.

Sophie laughed and turned away as he shook his hair, getting her wet in the process. “Hey, I’m not little. I’m just short. And besides I can‘t help being over heated. I am after all daughter of the sun god,” she laughed again. She looked back at him. “I’m sorry I pushed you in. But if it helps, I know a fast way to dry off?” she replied sitting on the shore once more. The sun already drying her off. “Come out of the water, sit by me and take my hand,” She said holding her hand out to him. As soon as he touched her he would be dried too. Only other gift her father had given her.
“Really?” she replied. “That would be awesome to travel with a friend. Who would also make a great tour guide. Save a little bit of money at least. ” she smiled to him and looked out to the lake once more. She had this fluttery feeling inside her once more. She felt empty yet full all at once.

"Little, short, same thing." Hayden insisted, though his tone was wavering. Okay, it was most definately not the same. Similar? Yes. But the same? Not partiularly. "Fine, it's not. But you're still little," He admitted, still maintaining a small bit of the playful arguement. "No big deal." A smile played on his lips again. The water actually felt nice and refreshing. He tilted his head, as if doubtful, but crawled out of the lake anyways. Reclaiming his spot, he reached out his hand, taking her own which seemed actually little in comparison. "Sorry I don't really have any interesting talents to offer." He smiled apologetically, a small bit of warmth seeping back into him as the water started to dry slowly on his skin.
The boy nodded, a little excited at the idea of going back to his original hometown. Maybe he could even visit Naomi. That held a certain appeal since she practically acted as his surrogate mother. Not that he didn't appreciate his real mother, but obviously she didn't have much time to be around. "Who knows, maybe we can do a trade off and you can give me a tour of your hometown sometime," Hayden suggested. He hadn't really had any oppurtunities to explore the United States yet.

“NOT the same” she couldn’t help but laugh. Okay so what. “Okay, lets just say I’m little on the short side compared to you? Better? she smiled. As he took her hand there was a small spark that made her jump. Laughing a little, she took his hand, letting the sun to completely dry them in minutes. Something if normal would had taken about 10 or so. She did it in about 2. “Sometimes it pays to be a Daughter of the Sun god.” she shrugged looking down, as she let go of his hand. “And its alright. Nothing special about drying off by the sun quickly or archery either,” she shrugged looking at the lake.
“Uh sure, but I’m warning you. Its not much. Just during the fall when the leaves change color. Other then that its just a boring small town. Nothing exciting.” she replied looking back at him. This got her thinking. How much as changed since the move to New York and camp? Would her old home still be standing? The fall, she thought about school. Maybe if she got lucky she could go to the college in the fall for a semester. Maybe, not likely. “Just name when, and we shall set off on an adventure,” she found herself saying with a gentle smile. Sophie wasn’t sure what made her say it but she was ready to go whenever.

"Yeah I suppose I could agree to that." Hayden drug out the word 'suppose' just to make it seem like it was a big deal, bu he couldn't help the laugh that ruined it. She was definately a little on the short side compared to him. He practically towered over her at six feet. "What are you, like 5 feet tall?" He teased, knowing that she had to be at least a couple inches taller than that. "And other times...It doesn't." He finished, even though he highly doubted that she was actually going to say that. Yet somehow he figured that that was Sophie was thinking. "I disagree, I think both of those things are pretty useful and interesting," He pointed out, slightly stunned at the disappearance of the water from him. No matter how many things like that happened, he would always be a little amazed by it.
The boy smiled, not put off by the description at all. "Anything can be interesting so long as you present it that way." He paused, "That sounded like it should come from cheesey self-help book." Hayden blushed in embarrassment, averting his gaze for a moment, trying to hide the red flush in his cheeks. "How about we take small steps. Next week how about we take a trip to Manhatten?" He suggested, knowing that he had a working debit card in his own name. His savings account could easily handle a day or even a few days in the city. The positives about having a father who was never around: he always tried to compensate for that by giving Hayden access to large sums of money. Although Hayden still would have preferred that his father actually be around instead, but it wasn't like he could change those things.

Sophie laughed once more. It seemed that today was awesome despite the heat. She sat up tall, putting her hands in her hips. 5 foot 4 thank you very much! And I‘m proud of it.” she grinned up at him. It was true that even though she was 17 -about to be 18 in a week from now- that there were some younger campers a bit taller then her. That, she always found was sad. But of well, sometimes being small and petite had its advantages. You wouldn’t think but it helped with archery a lot.
The daughter of Apollo smiled back. “I suppose your right. It is a lovely place. I hoped things hadn’t changed to much. Its been several years since I been there.” she sighed silently and sadly looking to the lake. Sophie remembered that she did love growing up there. She always spent time at the park in the sun, laying in the leaves of the sun. So Sophia never blushed. It was very rare but she did, looking down at her hand in the grass, watching a butterfly land by it on a flower. “Really?” she replied looking up. Her green/brown eyes now bright. “That sounds awesome! Can’t wait!.” Dang way to be way to peppy. Something she was not. She looked down again, feeling her face go red once more. It would honestly be one of the best gifts she would recieve for her birthday ever.

"Proud that you're eight inches shorter than me?" Hayden laughed, easily able to look back down at her from his still-slouched position. It was mostly a joke, but the statement that she was eight inchs shorter was true. Although her size didn't really affect the fact that she was very beautiful when she smiled. The boy shook his head slightly, trying to shake off the thought. Not a good idea, He chided himself, but he was finding it a little hard to deny his earlier thoughts. It was even that obvious, make-up induced beauty, but more of a natural sort. Which he found preferrable.
The demigod made a mental note to himself. He didn't particularly like seeing the girl sad. It just didn't seem all that suitable for her. Before he was even really aware of his actions, he leaned down, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. It was quick, because he realized his mistake and pulled back. But he definately noticed that it was nice. "S-s-sorry," He stumbled over his own words, fiddling with his hands, as he tried again to apologize. "I-it's just..Sorry." He quickly looked away, embarrassed at his sudden impulsiveness. Hayden opened his mouth to reply yes to her question, but snapped it shut, figuring she probably wouldn't want to go now anyways. At least it wasn't an actual kiss. He reasoned, but that explanation felt flimsy to him.

“Of course! I mean hey, if you don’t embrace it -or anything- and get out there, then you’ll live in a hole the rest of your life and wonder, what if” she replied with a nodded and a smile. Sophie picked up the rock that had been sitting next to her this whole time and skipped it into the lake. Five. Wasn’t bad, but wasn’t her best either. Sophie ran a hand threw her, shaking out the braid she had in her hair and she sat back in thought; letting the gentle wind brush it out of her face, missing a small piece.
Sophie felt herself sit up. Her face turning red. No way he just did that. Okay now the butterflies in her stomach were doing flips instead of actually going around in circles. Was that what they had been waiting for? It felt nice and close that she liked. But what if he left? Randomly? Leaving a note behind saying he was not coming back? Honestly, she probably wouldn’t be able to take it. “Um..no really its alright.” she replied honestly. *Honestly… I liked it…* she thought. No. Was she really going to go there? Again? Uh… Change of topic? Not that she wanted to… “Um so are we…like still up for Manhattan next week?” she asked hopefully looking to the lake.
