Isaac nodded a little as Adonia explained about Cyrene's parents and how, if they didn't just get their rooms for free, they would use Cyrene's credit card because her parents would be able to pay for it. Well, however they got the room. It wasn't like they could be in any worse trouble than they were in. He would have preferred to not get into more trouble on this quest than they had too, but that was probably him being an overly-wise fuddy-duddy. His logic and his intelligence made him think too much about the choices he made sometimes. He calculated his moves and decisions, and this was a move he knew could get them in trouble.
When Adonia started to hand him the Drachma and then switched to the change, he smiled back at her. "Yeah. I'm not sure my Uncle Damien would really know what to do with an Iris Message. A Collect Call is probably better." He accepted the coins and then Cyrene came out smirking. When Adonia questioned what she'd done, she said she'd gotten them a room by convincing the guard she was a movie star. The rooms were free, unless they didn't get of there before the ten hours were up and the charm wore off.
Cyrene headed off to the room, and Isaac shrugged. Adonia shut the trunk and locked the car, then turned to Isaac. "I'll go make that phone call. No reason to not have a back-up plan," he said, shrugging again. He picked up his bag and went over to the payphone sitting outside the hotel. He put in the coins and dialed the number. After a few rings, a familiar voice picked up.
"Damien Winters."
"Hey, Uncle Damien."
"Isaac. Why are you?... Oh wait, are you on a quest? Your dad told me about your mom, and about you being.... who you are. Just in case you were ever in the area and needed somewhere to stay."
"Thanks... I guess," Isaac said, not entirely sure he liked that his dad had told Damien everything. It certainly didn't fit with Isaac thinking that his father hated him. It fit better with the things Percy and Apollo had told him about family and about what his dad had done. He really needed to contact his dad after the quest was over. "Well, listen. We have a room for the night in a hotel, but I'm not sure if we might not get thrown out. The quest member who checked us in didn't exactly use conventional means. If we do need somewhere to stay, is it alright if we come over your way?"
"Yep. It's fine with me. I can give you the address, and if you come you can page up to our room at any time to get let in. We'll hear it. The darn thing is loud enough."
Isaac laughed at that and listened as his uncle gave him the address for the apartment building. He wrote it down on a piece of paper he'd had in his pocket. Then he said goodbye and hung up, turning back to Adonia. "Well, if we need to use that as a place to stay, we can. For now we can head up to the room."
((So... up to you if we want to end the thread here and start a new one or what.))
